Kerry Howley is a contributing editor at Reason and author of Bottoms Up and the Devil Laughs: A Journey Through the Deep State.
Howley first came to Reason in 2003 as the Burton C. Gray Memorial Intern. She then moved to Southeast Asia as a reporter and features editor for the Rangoon-based Myanmar Times, where she covered the United Nations and development issues until returning to Reason in 2005. She is currently a professor at the University of Iowa's Nonfiction Writing Program.
Howley is a graduate of Georgetown University, where she received a B.A. in philosophy and English, and the University of Iowa, where she received her MFA.
