UPDATED With Video!: Nick Gillespie vs. Patrick Kennedy on Pot Legalization; CNN 7.10pm ET
Here's tonight's segment:
Note: This was scheduled for yesterday but was pushed back due to weather coverage. Tune in to CNN's Erin Burnett Outfront around 7.10pm ET for a debate between me and former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) about pot legalization. Guest host Don Lemon moderates. More details below.
UPDATED, 4:45PM ET: This has been bumped and rescheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) night. Will keep you posted.
Last night, I discussed pot legalization on CNN's Erin Burnett: OutFront with guest host Don Lemon and CNN Legal Analyst Dan Callan. The starting point of the discussion was President Obama's recent acknowledgement that pot "is no more dangerous than alcohol."
Watch the segmant above or by going here.
I'll be back on OutFront again tonight, around 7.10pm ET, continuing the discussion about ending the war on pot. Don Lemon is back as guest host and we'll be joined by former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.), who cofounded the anti-marijuana group Project SAM since leaving Congress.

Get personal, Nick. There's no reason at all to keep the kid gloves on with a goddamned drunken cokehead who wants to bring back the carnage of prohibition.

Get personal? You want Nick to come off like the typical blog-commentating lout? Great idea! That'll put libertarians in the best light possible.
No, you're a towel, Mary!
A Kennedy (whose offshore fortune was made in part through distribution of booze), with a personal history of drugging and drinking, is arguing against pot?
Wild.
Bravo, Zulu Nick! You should have told him "You're no Jack Kennedy".
*Bravo Zulu, Nick!
Obama's "choom" was more likely top drawer fresh trimmed seedless indica from good Thai or Vietnamese seed stock and not shitty Filipino rope-weed.
COSMOTARIAN HIPSTER POT SMOKERS!
I was referencing Patrick Kennedy's false assertion that Obama used to smoke ditchweed.
The only time Obama smoked high-grade stuff is when he 'intercepted' (read was an arsehole) from his 'friends.
I bet the shit he bought to share was cheap ditchweed.
I don't think there's much ditchweed in Hawaii. If there was, it would probably be pretty good (but of inconsistent quality), like the wild-growing stuff in and around Dali, China.
In other news, Pat Buchanan argues that Richard Nixon ended the war in Vietnam.
http://buchanan.org/blog/
I do have a soft spot for Pat, but Gerald Ford (in agreement with Ayn Rand on his virtues) did that.
I think the evidence is relatively clear that Nixon was on his way when he got wrapped up in some trespassing issue and had to skedaddle. Nixon was definitely responsible for bringing the North Vietnamese back to the bargaining table-- arguably due to the illegal bombing of Cambodia.
Sucks when you can no longer hide your troops behind an international border.
President Gerald R. Ford made the decision for the US military to fully leave Vietnam. Him and
NO. ONE. ELSE.
Well... Ford made sure our military was out before the collapse. Congress made sure he couldn't honor our treaty commitments to South Vietnam with air support and supplies.
Gerald Ford made the correct decision to withdrawal all US troops from Vietnam with nobody's permission. Knock that little gumball around your mouth for a bit. He was not elected.
Non libertarian treaty commitments.
SLD applies to the following/
Vietnam would have been simple to handle. Present an ultimatum to North Vietnam in a UN forum that, while the US was willing to recognize the government of North Vietnam, they were not willing to tolerate the continuous aggression against South Vietnam. Tell them no more supplying or support of the VC. If they continue, invade North Vietnam, put Ho and company against a wall, and then leave. Chinese come in, establish a client state, and Vietnam becomes another Korean situation.
This could have been done right after LBJ's landslide. We would have been drawn down to a Korean type presence by 66 or so.
American's interest in martial arts and some interest in Asian culture quickly filled the vaccuum left by hippies.
I would like to see a comparison between the number of Americans engaged in the Occupy Wall Street movement versus the number of Americans engaged in Asian martial arts training classes for an overlap of the two.
But then how would we have ever been able to tie off with that sweet Thailand brown sugar?
A profound observation.
This was scheduled for yesterday but was pushed back due to weather coverage.
Rich white folks get a little snow, errbody freaks out.
"This is pure snow! It's everywhere! Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?
Greendale is a bodaciously small town, Lane. A fly speck on the map - a rest stop on the way to the ski slope. I can't even get real drugs here!"
I've been going to this high school for seven and a half years. I'm no dummy. I know high school girls.
I don't mean to speak for rich white folk, but I want to ski. There's been no snow in the west this winter yet.
Sing it, sister. Luckily, I've been... under the weather in the health department so the likelihood that I'd be even able to stand on a snowboard is pretty thin, but yeah, it would be nice if a damned flake of snow would fall in the mountains. Worst ski season ever.
It's seasons like this where I am less saddened by my inability to ski any more because of old injuries. Ha ha, you can't ski either!
I've actually payed a psychotherapist to tell that skiing is like cocaine. So tell me about your old injuries, sweety. All for free.
Snapped femur and shattered and reconstructed calcaneus. Not good for skiing.
You really should pay your bookie on time.
"Snapped femur..."
Ouch. Is this the point where I apologize profusely to the disabled?
Not.
You can still temper skiing to your ability and have fun. I have arthritis in my knees so I always pick the hard runs with moguls. Why? Because I can take my time and turn on the downside of the moguls. No gravity for a moment.
Dumbass plankers can't even look both ways.
That's because its *not part of the plan*.
You had me at "he's been the best president", Pat.
But it's MOST damaging to the drug war industry.
LOCK THEM ALL UP. And let them eat prison cake.
Kennedy is currently claiming that ending the drug war will lead to more drug arrests.
That's just simple lawgick (law+magick), not to be confused with "logic".
Gillespie is going ape shit.
Ha, Kennedy is lamenting the 21st Amendment.
Well, that was a great six minutes, maybe less, with an abrupt end. It was like watching The Independents, except I was forced to tune into CNN.
That was your first and last mistake.
Reading your comments always seem to be my latest mistake.
Replying to his comments seems to be your worst mistake, though.
Mistakes were made. What difference, at this point, does it make?
How do you get gigs like this, Gillespie? Back in the 70s when I argued this, people told me to shut the fuck up.
'Twas the jacket.
Dude that makes no sense at all man. None.

What the shit. I turned my Dish to CNN for nothing??? That's on record, you know. The NSA knows I watched CNN now.
"If you've watched nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear."
Patrick Kennedy is just like his daddy. Statist and authoritarian minded. So is Dan Callan to boot that.
Aren't all the Kennedy's dead yet?
Was there ever a Kennedy who wasn't a monstrous scumbag?
Robert Kennedy seemed like the least scummy, but it may just be that his relatives were more open about it, or that he got capped before he has a chance to really get going.
"Robert Kennedy seemed like the least scummy, but it may just be that his relatives were more open about it, or that he got capped before he has a chance to really get going."
Pretty sure it was the latter; he just didn't have the time to mature into the scumbag we could all despise.
You mean RFK, the butt boy for McCarthy?
Sadly, no. But one can certainly understand why they have a tendency to get shot at. Why they keep getting elected is something of a mystery, however.
I'd rather watch the MTV Kennedy, not the OMG-when-will-this-family-just-get out-of-public-life Kennedy.
Man, I can't even watch these videos.
"OH BUT NICK THAT JUST MEANS YOU WANT TO LEGALIZE METH AND COKE FOR EVERYONE, RIGHT? ISN'T IT? ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU MEAN? JUST CAUSE WE LEGALIZED BOOZE WE SHOULD LEGALIZE METH? RIGHT NICK? AND YOUR SEXY JACKET?"
Soo tired of this. Like, please stop having this argument tired.
A nation mourns
Na vs Cibulkova.
Cibula is onion by the way, in Slovak.
As a Czech, can you explain Berdych's outfit?
I'm not Czech myself, but yeah, Czech men aren't famous for being dapper.
Nick's derisive "Come on" at the conclusion was great.
But the "It's time for America to grow up and do what's right" missed the mark. Rather, it's time for America's politicians to face reality and do what's right. And it's time for jackass Kennedy's to grow up and get a real job.
River Dolphin.

So American adults need protection from their bad or good decisions according to a legal analyst and Pat Kennedy. They should try a vaporizer. Or be vaporized. I don't use because I don't. But where is the common sense of Federalism?
This Kennedy whore needs to get a real job.
Jack Simpleton is not going to like that dude.
http://www.AnonWork.tk
PWND by The Jacket.
Not bad Nick.
This was the next Dragnet episode in the old Netflix queue last night:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Twre6ItGEI
You're not the experts here. Jack Webb is.
Never saw that. I thought it would be the one where the kid drowned in the bathtub because his mother was smoking pot.
