In yesterday's Google Hangout with Reason TV, Barack Obama laid out his economic plan for the final two years of his presidency: "Nobody's gonna be gettin' rich."

Obama talked about his relief that Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) is finally stepping down as Senate Minority Leader, and explains his greatest regret so far in office.

It just boggles the mind to think this country, the greatest commercial nation the world has ever seen could elect someone who would say such a thing as its President. He really is one of the dumbest people ever to hold high office in this country. How in the hell could someone say such a thing?

When it comes to Obama, it's hard to tell the difference between intentional jokes and unintentional ones.

Well, the quote was lifted entirely out of context.

The statement was really "Nobody's gonna be gettin' rich on $9/hour" in advocacy of a hike in the minimum wage.

Of course, that is still a really stupid statement. Many, maybe most, rich people got their first exposure to productive, remunerative work with compensation at or even below the minimum wage. I know that's true in my own case.

Turns out the gay pizza parlor story was a complete lie.

ABC-57 reporter Alyssa Marino's editor sends her on a half-hour drive southwest of their South Bend studio, to the small town of Walkerton (Pop. ~2,300). According to Alyssa's own account on Twitter, she "just walked into their shop [Memories Pizza] and asked how they feel" about Indiana's new Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Owner Crystal O'Connor says she's in favor of it, noting that while anyone can eat in her family restaurant, if the business were asked to cater a gay wedding, they would not do it. It conflicts with their biblical beliefs. Alyssa's tweet mentions that the O'Connors have "never been asked to cater a same-sex wedding."

What we have here is ? as we called in journalism school jargon ? "no story." Nothing happened. Nothing was about to happen.

If I were forced to mark out a story line, it would be this: A nice lady in a small town tries to be helpful and polite to a lovely young reporter from "the big city."

The old Twilight Zone episode where the penny lands standing up and the guy can read people's minds. He hears a coworker thinking to himself how he's going to rob the bank that day. All planned out in detail. The mind reader finally makes a huge problem and as he gets hauled off, the coworker asks him, "I would never actually do it, but how did you know I was thinking that.?" That episode filmed today would have a different ending. Thought is same as action so guilty as charged.
