Welcome to Reason's 2013 Webathon! Please Make a Tax-Deductible Gift Today!
It's that time of year again - time for Reason's annual webathon! This year, we're hoping to raise $100,000 over the next eight days from readers who dig what we do at the country's (and planet's) only website devoted to exploring, analyzing, and promoting "Free Minds and Free Markets."
Reason.com - along with Reason magazine and Reason TV - are published by the nonprofit Reason Foundation, a 501(c)3 outfit, which means your contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
This year's swag levels include the following:
- If you give $100, you'll get a subscription to Reason (11 action-packed issues, in dead-tree or digital format) and a classic black Reason T-shirt.
- For $250, you get all that, plus a subscription you can gift to your bestest friend or worstest enemy, plus a copy of Paul Feine and Alex Manning's award-winning documentary about drug prohibition, America's Longest War.
- For $500, you get all that, plus a chance to ask Matt Welch and me a question in our "Ask a Libertarian" video series.
- For $1,000, you get all that, plus a private lunch with Matt and me in Washington, D.C.
- For $2,500, you get all that, plus two VIP tickets to Reason's annual media awards, held in the fall in New York City (includes pre-event reception)
Go here now to make your donation of whatever amount you'd like. At any giving level, you'll have the option of streaming your name in our "thanks banner" up top of the site.
And yes WE ACCEPT BITCOIN!
Your (TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!) contributions help us do what we do - such as breaking the story that Obamacare poster boy Chad Henderson hadn't actually signed up for anything, duking it out with Rachel Maddow on the Bill Maher show, and chronicling The Libertarian Era that bubbling up all around us.
We thank you for support - in the past and in the future.
And while you're looking around for your credit card, PayPal password, or Bitcoin key, check out last year's Ask a Libertarian playlist:

You know who else regularly spent more than they brought in and had to find alternate revenue?
Mike Tyson?
Google is paying 75$/hour! Just work for few hours & spend more time with friends and family. On Sunday I bought themselves a Alfa Romeo from having made $5637 this month. its the best-job Ive ever had.It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don't check it out http://www.Buzz95.com
The Happy Hooker?
I'll make a donation if someone at Reason will answer the question of where the video interview with Geoffrey Zakarian went. It was up on reason.tv at http://reason.com/reasontv/201.....ty-at-reas . Now the link is gone, the H&R blurb is gone and it's gone from YouTube.
I ask again, what gives?
Yes. It is rather curious. I'd like to watch it as well, or at least get an explanation for why it was removed. I have a feeling Zakarian asked to have it taken down, after being pressured by his network and sponsors. Course, we'll never know because Reason is being oddly silent about it.
You guys actually notice what goes on at Reason TV? I'm impressed.
Kilroy,
We removed the video because due to a misunderstanding, Reason didn't have authorization to air the interview. It was a fun conversation -- Geoff Zakarian is not only a fantastic chef but a great talker, as is evident from his TV work -- and I hope that we'll redo it soon.
Thanks, Nick. Just wanted some clarification.
Thanks for the response. I'll look forward to seeing the redo!
Sorry, my insurance went up by fifty per cent, and it's all the fault of libertarian wreckerism. And I need new tires because Rand Paul stole all the roads.
You know who else tried to ply me with gifts to get me to put out?
Santa?
And you never did put out.
He finished too quickly to do the deed.
Nobody?
Epi's mom?
FTFY. Seriously, that's annoying as fuck.
The addition of the fucking Taboola ads is also annoying. That was nearly enough to stop me from donating this year.
But it didn't stop you, did it? Like the wife of the abusive husband or the press corps of the standoffish president, you just keep coming back, thinking this time things will be different, this time you won't have to cover up the bruises or mistakes. With a little effort or donation, the back of the Taboola ads' hand will no longer be necessary and you won't have to tell your friends and family you just walked into a door or State Department phony scandal or belly fat ad.
Actually, my childish desire to post a ridiculous donation banner is what got to me.
Anyway, thanks to the Taboola ads, I will now be able to make millions from the Biblical Money Code!
What's the Postrel Non-Jerk Level contribution?
A kidney.
I'll see your kidney and raise you another kidney... AND a liver! Orphans in the monocle mines can function with no kidneys and no liver, right?
The beauty of liver transplants is you only need a slice of them to transplant and they grow back. I suggest setting up a liver farm with your heartiest and genetically obsucrest orphans.
According to Johns Hopkins:
Sure, in the post where you ask for money suddenly everything has alt-text!
Freedom costs a buck o five.
Also a big time to me.
