Zach Weissmueller is a senior producer at Reason. He has produced documentary shorts, video interviews, and feature articles for the platform since 2010 covering permissionless technology, free speech, mental health and homelessness, experimental governance, COVID-19 policy, criminal justice reform, and drug legalization.
Judges honored Zach's video series "Anarchy in Detroit" with an L.A. Press Club award and called it "an awesome piece of journalism" and awarded him again in 2019 and 2021 for his documentaries on the mental health system and the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. His work covering Hong Kong's mass movement against creeping authoritarianism was cited in national media, and at least one of his multiple video essays exploring libertarian philosophy have been viewed more than a million times on Reason's YouTube channel.
He documented his 2021 move from Los Angeles, California, to Florida where he now lives and works.
