Zach Weissmueller is a writer and video producer based in Los Angeles. He's been producing documentary shorts, video interviews, and feature articles for Reason TV and Reason Magazine since 2010, where he's covered topics ranging from technology policy, civil liberties, and freedom of information to the effect of weak property rights and unfair zoning laws on poor and marginalized communities to the war on drugs and its many unintended consequences. He also regularly conducts on-camera interviews with subjects ranging from Academy Award-winning documentarian Alex Gibney to comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla to medical marijuana and jury nullification advocate NJ Weedman to the cast and crew of Sharknado 2.
His work has been featured on Boing Boing, Huffington Post, Instapundit, Pan Am Post, BuzzFeed, the Washington Post, Fox News, and, Forbes magazine. Judges honored Zach's video series "Anarchy in Detroit" with an LA Press Club award and called it a "great story that articulates the dichotomy in Detroit and the failures of the government in bringing about a renaissance of the struggling city. An awesome piece of journalism."
Zach graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Journalism and a B.A. in English Literature and spent several years working in the entertainment industry writing and doing production work before landing at Reason.
