Watch Kennedy's Brand-New Show on Fox Business Tonight at 10 P.M. ET
Kennedy's new eponymous show on Fox Business debuts tonight at 10 P.M. Eastern Time. It'll be on five nights a week at that time.
Here's how she describes it to Cosmopolitan:
It's a quirky political talk show where I get to keep an eye on people who are inhibiting others' freedom and talk with interesting people about subjects that we find mutually fascinating, like music, parenting, economic liberty — the kind of stuff that you talk about with your good friends.
And here is how she describes her libertarianism to the mag:
Mostly I think people should just get the hell out of the way. We don't need any more regulation from government. You don't need overarching moralism to tell you how to live because human beings actually have a pretty well-developed moral center. The more government intrudes on the basic decisions you make, the further away you get from your natural morality….I'm consistently pro-freedom. No matter where I go, whether it's Fox or when I'm walking around the block or going to the dog park, I will agree with people on pretty much half of everything. Freedom is something I believe in across the board, and I will fight for that.

Will she be interrupting herself?
I'll watch a few times, but I'm not hopeful. Matt and Kmele made TI engaging; K over-supplied the pizzazz.
Fox's solution to Kennedy interrupting everyone is to have her talk to no one.
^^THIS!^^ The best episodes of TI were the episodes she wasn't on.
I'm sure she's nice... but... man...
Your evening derp: caller to CSPAN says Hillary should be next president. Her number 2 choice is Biden. Also says that gas cost more in red states and people are poorer. Finishes by saying that Team Red are uninformed.
Call begins at 30:11 mark.
Meh, I dunno. Is there going to be a competition between her and O'Reilly to see who can interrupt people the quickest and most often?
I wonder if this show will even have anything to do with libertarianism or if it will just quickly devolve into a real derp fest. I'm leaning towards the latter.
"or if it will just quickly devolve into a real derp fest"
Oh yeah...
I'm not sure what you mean by devolve? I'm almost 110% sure that it will leave the blocks as derp fest.
It's a quirky political talk show
Oh joy!
I don't really expect, didn't expect a libertarian show to survive very long on prime time TV news.
It's mostly old folks who watch these shows and they are decidedly NOT libertarian. Most of them don't even know what the fuck that means. Like my dad, he's 83, he constantly watches Fox and CNN and he takes as gospel every fucking thing he hears on either of them. Drives me nuts. Although it is sometimes amusing, in a sad sort of way, when he gets the stories a little mixed up and comes up with his own hybrid version.
I'm 67 and "decidedly AM libertarian"; have been for 40+ years. The only shows I have ever watched on Fox are Stossel, Judge N and The Independents, which I grudgingly stuck with for a year before quitting just as the network cancelled it. This show was an embarrassment to libertarians and a total waste of a great opportunity to bring the message to a larger audience. The fault lies directly on Kennedy's shoulders, who is a media clown in no way qualified to act as a spokesperson for anything more serious than the latest musical trend. Fox must be crazier than I thought to give her another chance!
You're an exception man. I'm 55 and probably on the line of where you can divide the older generation (mostly TV watchers) and the newer generation, who are more likely to get news online. You're probably actually on that line too.
But when you get to the people my parents age, 75 and older, they are overwhelmingly not into computers and into TV. And you could fit all the libertarians in the entire country among them in a mini van.
My 79-year-old father had literally never been on a computer or any sort of modern device until my mother got him an iPhone a few months ago. He's now somewhat on Facebook (and is up to 45 friends!) He's made two posts -- one for a profile picture and one of the Xmas lights on the front porch he had put up. I don't know if he's gone anywhere else online; I'm pretty sure he's never gone on a news site.
But unless they start telling the news on The Price is Right, I don't think he's getting the news on network tv either. I think he really doesn't give a damn about current events anymore, he's in a lot of pain and homebound, so what passes for national news has almost zero actual effect on his daily life.
My father, with his own health problems, is 75 and couldn't care less either anymore.
Apache vs. 30 Taliban

Somehow I am less worried about militant Muslims.
It would appear that the best tactic would be "Lie down and play dead"
Nah, still gives off thermal.
I am betting on the chopper pilots being too bored to go around shooting the corpses rather than chase the scooters around.
I would love to know what the total cost of that attack was. All of those weapons are meant for armor. Exploding a single guy with a hellfire is just.... wow.
A hellfire is $58K to $110K a pop, depending on guidance (laser vice MW).
30MM HEI is about $25 per shot, so a lot cheaper, but I still wouldn't want to pay for it.
All told, that little run of war porn was probably half a mil.

If you want to win a war, that's the attitude to have. Maybe you shouldn't have the war, but that's how to fight it.
Can you really put a price on killing terrorists?
I wonder if PETA made a ruckus about those donkeys.
That was awesome.
It's crazy that they'll waste a $50,000 bomb on one dude.
Oh, Apache like the helicopter. I assumed it was a single native american vs. 30 Taliban.

Um... no?
My mother thinks Kennedy must be sleeping with Cavuto.
That is the most horrifying comment ever
Oh, mother. Knock it off.
Watch it. She might knock your block off.
Because you guys all have what to do instead?
Yeah, didn't think so.
I've been working on my illustrated compilation of 2014 Attire Reviews
However, i am discovering my crayola supply may be insufficient to the task.
Kickstarter campaign!
I'd kick in.
Top e-book of 2015 right here.
You and Welch are both going to get smeared like dog poo. I don't see what you're so excited about.
Is this the new replacement for the Independentzzz links thread?
We'd better have this or something -- in the pre-independents days H&R typically died after PM links.
I'm wondering if Kennedy will still bring Matt and Kmele on all the time, ih what would be like her version of Hannity's "All-Star Panel" (actually about the only part of his show I can watch). At least the show will continue a bit of what drew many of us to The Independents.
Anyone who watches this is a traitor. Snowden-level traitor.
A courageous whistleblower?
I just set it to dvr.
I just set it to dvr.
I just set it to dvr.
I just set it to dvr.

Wow. A new personal best.
There's an app for that.
Holy shit
You're a commando clicker. Knock it off.
I vote foe.
Nick: Interesting assortment of Kennedy nay-sayers here. The Independents was bound to fail from day one and was a terrible waste of a great opportunity (no fault of Matt or Kmele!). Do you feel some sense of obligation to hype her new show here? I wouldn't waste another minute watching her and hope that she steers clear of Stossel's show in the future as that is the only thing still worth watching on Fox.
Yeah, Nick. I'm waiting for your inevitable reply.
I got my boss of almost 15 years - conservative/libertarian with great potential to be made MORE libertarian - hooked on The Independents. I fear its demise may be reflected in my next evaluation. : (
Well, whatever you do, DO NOT ask your boss to watch Kennedy, that will probably cost you your job, (;
I didn't, but he did. He has no one to blame but himself. He was underwhelmed.
Just tell HR you think he's been giving you suggestive looks, you'll be fine.
I mean, unless you work for some kind of small-time family-owned business. Then you're toast, obviously, but it was inevitable anyway.
If you ever need advice on how to get fired, let me know. I am an expert on that.
Pfft. You're a white male, right? Big deal, anyone can get fired if they're not part of a protected class.
I owe you an email. I haven't forgotten - just been down with the damned flu!
We'll touch base soon, Derpetologist!
Awesome. Many thanks.
No pressure, but if I can't line up a decent civvy job, I will LARPing Stripes
I could be the Herpy Derpy Bugle Boy of Company B.

Kennedy's Greatest Hit
1225 comments
WTF? Is that a record? I've only seen 1000+ comments a few times and I've been here since 2007.
And EVERY SINGLE "Dear Prudence" post on Slate gets 3000 comments minimum. Discovering that is the exact moment that I abandoned all hope.
Any post that mentions Koch Brothers, Boosh, or Sarah Palin at Huffpo will get in excess of 10k comments. Seriously.
But you need to keep it in context that 9.9k of those will be some variation of 'Teapublicans want to put women and children back into chains!'

I believe that, but I don't think it makes me feel any better...
Her greatest hit was when she was naked on the horse.
Matt and Kmele were just a Stepping Stone
I am so disappointed in myself for knowing that song before clicking the link.
I knew it too. Although, I was disappointed.
Disappointed?
Try this with Sid on vocals backed up by the ex-New York Dolls' rhythm section
Time to play Spot the Not! This episode will future output from the ROMNIAC 5000 Pandertron.
1. The one by L. Ron Hubbard...I'm not in favor of his religion by any means, but he wrote a book called Battlefield Earth that was a very fun science fiction book.

10pm is too late for me.
Never ceases to amaze me how posts to a Reason.com thread get so far off topic so fast. What is this, some kind of cyber-ADHD or something?
For fuck's sake, I'm not even on your lawn, old man!
This is code for something, right?

"Never ceases to amaze me how posts to a Reason.com thread get so far off topic so fast."
With this article as a subject, it's surprising it got ten comments on-topic.
What intelligent comment can you make about a train-wreck?
Yes, AD...wait, what were you saying?
Toller Cranston died today.
I realize Kennedy's style is a bit...hard to watch. Maybe she did kill The Independents.
I am a Kennedy fan. I like her. I don't do the celebrity crush thing. I find the vast majority of those people to have loathsome personalities, but with Kennedy I make an exception. Still, I imagine spending ten minutes with her in person would be exhausting.
Hopefully:)
Actually, to her credit, I've seen interviews with her when she's not "on" and she can be almost tame. Put her in an MC outfit though and she just goes berzerk!
Spot the Not: Jeb Bush!
1. I don't wake up each morning saying, 'Oh, wow, it's me. I think I'm the cat's meow. I'm the best.'
2. If more people were actively engaged in advocating their positions I think we'd have a better society.
3. Immigrants built our country. They have more children, start more businesses, and bring new ideas.

Six months ago I lost my job and after that I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a great website which literally saved me. I started working for them online and in a short time after I've started averaging 15k a month... The best thing was that cause I am not that computer savvy all I needed was some basic typing skills and internet access to start...

Austere - Another word rendered meaningless by the left.
Why does it not occur to the average person that when someone starts redefining words in their argument it is because they are being deceptive and thus not to be trusted? It is a simple fucking tell.
Because they're not trying to discern the truth of the argument, they already know whether or not they believe it based on who's making it?
Come on, Mrs. Montgomery, I'm staying up past my bedtime to watch your show. It better be good. In fact, it better be awesome. Don't Cleveland-Browns me!
Clips from the Iowa freedom summit?
Palin talking about someone riding her...
Clear table a la Kelley
OK, she's a good monologue-er.
Trump is only making sense because he is dissing Mitt and Jeb

Finally, you came out of the closet.
Bill Nye is weighing in on this? And blowing the science while doing it.
Deflategate. Pressure is proportional to temperature (PV=nRT). When the T changes from 72 F to 51 F at game time (298 K to 283 K) that is about a 5% change. so the P should have changed 5% in absolute pressure. So 12.5 psig + 14.7 psi = 27.2 psia. 5% is almost exactly 1.5 psi. So the P should have been 11 psig if the original P was 12.5 psig
Uh...balls!
Pretty sure they're going to set them at PSIG, right? And they would pressurize them to the proper amount at game time?
Yes, psig is gage pressure, ie pressure above atmospheric. The calculation is done in absolute pressure. Assuming they pressure them indoors at 72 F and then go outside in Boston which was 51 F at gametime, then about 5% drop in pressure is expected.
"Assuming they pressure them indoors at 72 F and then go outside in Boston which was 51 F at gametime, then about 5% drop in pressure is expected."
I dunno how the NFL specs are written, but when I was racing, we set tire pressure at PSIG at ambient temps and went from there. Correcting from absolute offered no gains as we wanted the (flex/damping/hysteresis) characteristics of the tire at the G pressure as a base-line.

It's not just unions, it is being forced to be in a union,, and public sector unions that are the issue.
Wait, this is the best video of all!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoqg15tCyiA
Wait, they stole the Topical Storm from the still-warm body of The Independents?
Matt and Kmele are certainly getting residuals.
She's going to burn out.
Oh, crap, I'm the only one in the audience now?
So I have to buy a bunch of bathtub attachments and donate lots of money to disabled veteranc?
Wait, the comedian made a decent joke?
Of course, I could have made the same joke for half the pay.
Kennedy: "Yeah, blondie, when you're my age and have as many kids as I do, you're not going to look even one tenth as hot as I do!"
I think she's better with her own show.
Yes, a bit better. She keeps talking, but doesn't interrupt anyone. she has the stage and no one to bump aside to get all the attention. She is a talented attention whore.
So, now I'm Horatius at the bridge, the only remaining commenter on the thread?

In the eyes of God we are all Porsenas...
Where are the interruptions?
Who is the pod-person, and what did she do with Kennedy?
Well, I'm glad BigT was there, but apart from that, I felt really lonely without the snark of the other commenters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEaKX9YYHiQ
Watched the first episode. Meh. Fox apparently got her to relocate her family to NYC so she could be with them more. I hope whatever promises were made to her are written in blood.
I tried to pretend that Kmele and Matt were just on vacation or "assignment" -- easier than I thought, because the new show includes K-Walking and Topical Storm, carried over from "The Independents" -- but the truth is I already miss those guys. K was the high-energy spark plug, and the other two (especially Kmele) kept her safely grounded and on a more purely libertarian track than she apparently likes to travel on her own.
In introducing her "You're Crazy, Kennedy" segment, I do believe she gave a sincere, but characteristically sarcastic tip-o-the-hat to her fallen comrades: "...because three people, sitting around, agreeing with each other is boring." She then proceeded to disagree with two liberals who agreed with each other. Huh.
My cable systems on-screen program guide raised false hope that "The Independents" was still on (in reruns?) at midnight ET (9pm PT, my time). Unfortunately, the Guide lied: 9pm PT brought the expected rerun of Strange Inheritance.
I'll probably watch on Tuesday to see what, with introductions out of the way, I can really expect from this show. Kennedy seems to be trying to make it work, by ratcheting the mania down a bit from 11 on "The Independents" to maybe 9 or so here. I hope that's not too little, too late. Best of luck, K!
