Hitch a Ride on Timothy Leary's Trip Through Time!
RU Sirius, a.k.a. Ken Goffman, has a trippy new book out called Timothy Leary's Trip Thru Time. You can buy it or read it for free at www.timothyleary.org. It's worth the effort.
The blurb:
"Timothy Leary's Trip Thru Time is a witty and informative look at the important events and philosophical developments in the colorful and controversial life of Dr. Timothy Leary. With dashes of Learyesque irreverence, author R.U. Sirius draws connections between Leary's trips through psychology, psychedelia, politics and technology and the ecstatic highs and harrowing lows of his personal life. A must-read for appreciating Timothy Leary."
A snippet:
For thirty bombings, the leaders of the [Weather Underground] basically got probation. Timothy Leary spent four and a half years in prison for a little bit of marijuana, and likely would have spent the rest of his life there if he hadn't played ball, or chess, with the Feds….
And so the crazy, tragicomic action-adventure movie portion of Timothy Leary's trip through time — the years of prison, escape and exile — comes to a close as Leary emerges from prison broke; with his reputation in tatters and, as usual, excited and full of plans for the future….

Prosecutors had their priorities back then.
Political terrorism is so much nobler than trying to understand things and using some harmless drugs to do so.
A couple of things Leary fans should check out:
One his book Flashbacks which is an autobiography as well as a compendium of all things psychedelic.
Two, an album(!) believe it or not that he put out around 1970 called "You Can Be Anyone This Time Around" a wild spoken-word creation featuring none other than that psychedelic axeman Jimi Hendrix.
Bonus points for anyone who knows what instrument Jimi played on the album!
I was going to scoff at Leary's "career", but shit, he never killed anybody or sent people to their death's, so what's a little harmless mayhem?
my best friend's step-mother makes $84/hr on the laptop. She has been without work for 9 months but last month her income was $20795 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site.... http://WWW.DAZ7.COM
Timothy Leary held a fundraiser for Ron Paul in 1988. I always bring that up to prove not all of us hippies are brain-dead leftists.
Talk about not only living in the past, but also in the paleofuture. Back in the 1970's and early 1980's, Leary, along with his druggie buddies Robert Anton Wilson and F.M. Esfandiary, predicted that by now we would live in space colonies and have become "immortal." How has that immortality worked out for these guys lately? The ideas of bohemian pop intellectuals usually don't age well, and especially not the ideas generated by the ones active in the 1960's and 1970's because they interpreted the social upheavals of America's postwar era as some kind of kind of permanent change in the human condition, instead of just recognizing them as temporary events, followed by regression towards longer-term social patterns. These guys might have spoken to a generation, but not to the ages.
