    Nice alt-text.

  2. Fist of Etiquette   12 years ago

More like having monocled orphans defending libertarian toll marijuana fields with assault weapons bought with bitcoins while absolutely no recognition is made of anyone's positive rights.

    1. Archduke Pantsfan   12 years ago

you can't make me recognize your rights!

  3. sloopyinca   12 years ago

Nice. Too bad the GOP and Democrat Party will use that tweet verbatim to discredit libertarians.

Offend SoCons on the right? Check
Offend gun-grabbers on the left? Check
Offend prohibitionists and government lovers on both sides? Trifecta!

    1. Counterfly   12 years ago

At least we've still got the gay dope smoking gun nut crowd!

      1. entropy   12 years ago

        We got Bill Gunderson?!?

    2. prolefeed   12 years ago

Dunno. Gary Johnson got 1% of the vote. Add up the following and see if you get more than 1%:

      1) GLBTers

      2) Weed smokers

      3)Gun owners

I'm getting somewhere around 80% of the populace in one or more of those categories.

  4. Virginian   12 years ago

The Instapundit has long had a line "Happily married gay couples with closets full of assault weapons."

  5. Citizen Nothing   12 years ago

Where are the heroin vending machines? I want my goddamned heroin vending machines!

    1. EDG reppin' LBC   12 years ago

Settle down, CN. I saw some heroin vending machines down at the child labor placement agency. And there are a few by the Man/Beast wedding chapel.

      1. some guy   12 years ago

And there are a few by the Man/Beast wedding chapel.

Though they can be hard to find among all the meth vending machines.

  6. thom   12 years ago

According to Democrats I know, a libertarian future involves racist corporations secretly controlling the government to promote religious fundamentalism, in order to justify rampant pollution and the use of child labor...or something.

    1. Doctor Whom   12 years ago

According to Republicans I know, we'll all be HIV-positive drug addicts who keep having babies out of wedlock until North Korea conquers us.

  7. durron597   12 years ago

Bitcoins are not going to be in the future. The branch chain file is already 6 GB and growing exponentially. It will collapse under it's own weight.

    1. HazelMeade   12 years ago

Didn't the value of bitcoin crash late last week?

I believe the bubble has popped.

      1. some guy   12 years ago

Just because the bubble popped doesn't mean the industry is dead. Bubbles pop all the time...

      2. robc   12 years ago

Yeah, its still between 90-100 though. It crashed all the way back to its April 1st price.

Even bubbles crash in a more timely fashion with bitcoin.

    2. some guy   12 years ago

First, most laptops have disk space measured in the hundreds of GB and growing exponentially.

Second, there are services that offer to host your wallet so you don't have to.

Finally, creating your wallet involves verifying the whole block chain, which takes a long time, but using your wallet afterwards only involves verifying changes to the chain, which doesn't take long at all.

Bitcoin will probably not be in our future, but not because it collapses under its own weight. Instead it will probably be replaced by a better cryptocurrency. (Or maybe it will survive relying on eWallet services...)

    3. Corning   12 years ago

The branch chain file is already 6 GB

So you are saying it is smaller then your average A title video game....

  8. Systemspoet   12 years ago

In a progressive future, LGBT married couples will not need assault weapons to secure basic human protections. Thanks for making my case.

    1. Doctor Whom   12 years ago

So it will be completely different from the progressive present, then? That's good to know.

    2. EDG reppin' LBC   12 years ago

In a progressive future, 51% of us will vote to march the other 49% of us into ovens.

      1. AlmightyJB   12 years ago

        Yup

      2. Kant feel Pietzsche   12 years ago

In a progressive future, 513433 will be selected to breed with 728445, so the concept of marriage will be moot.

    3. Matrix   12 years ago

you made your own case. How did they make it for you?

    4. OldMexican   12 years ago

      Re: Systempoet,

In a progressive future, LGBT married couples will not need assault weapons to secure basic human protections.

The reason being those couples will not be able to afford them anyway, because of the Progressive's future value of the debased currency.

    5. Virginian   12 years ago

Yeah will Barack repeal DOMA in his third term?

      1. AlmightyJB   12 years ago

What do you mean term? That would imply there is an end date.

    6. jesse.in.mb   12 years ago

I still don't know why we haven't gone all Band of Thebes on you breeders.

The Pink Pistols really need to sort this out.

    7. Stevo Darkly   12 years ago

"In a progressive future, LGBT married couples will not need assault weapons to secure basic human protections."

Well, they will, but they'll rely on the cops to have and use the weapons in order to provide the basic human protections.

Luckily, cops just LOOOVE LGBT married couples. Nothing could be a bigger priority for a cop than putting his life on the line for a defenseless LGBT couple. Certainly if attacked by bigoted hate-thugs, LGBT couples need only make a phone call, and the cops will be right over at their earliest possible convenience.

      Good plan.

  9. The Late P Brooks   12 years ago

I'm pretty sure the NRA would see that as an unintended (and undesirable) consequence.

  10. Brandybuck   12 years ago

One tweet sums it up why people think libertarians are nutty.

  11. The Late P Brooks   12 years ago

Bitcoin will probably not be in our future, but not because it collapses under its own weight. Instead it will probably be replaced by a better cryptocurrency. (Or maybe it will survive relying on eWallet services...)

I wonder if Bitcoin or some successor/competitor will embrace the features of a barter clearinghouse? If what we're really looking for is an alternative and (gasp!) unregulated medium of exchange...

    1. AlmightyJB   12 years ago

I'm pretty sure the future currancy is going to be ammo.
