Thank you, President Obama, for keeping your campaign pledge to end raids on medical marijuana dispensaries that are legal under state laws in California and elsewhere. Thank you for reversing an inhumane policy established by the Clinton administration and continued by the Bush administration.
Given the experience you and other elected officials have had with illegal drugs and your willingness to challenge the status quo, now is the time to reconsider decades of prohibitionist drug policies that have succeeded only in massively increasing the toll of human misery, violence, and hypocrisy. As with alcohol prohibition, the drug war intensifies and exacerbates every negative outcome it is ostensibly designed to combat.
President Obama, do the right thing and end the war on drugs.

President Obama, do the right thing and end the war on drugs.
Ain't... gonna... happen.I'm still predicting a return of medical marijuana raids.Probably on the suppliers in Cali.
For the love of Milton!
If you absolutely have to post these hellastupid videos, OBEY THE ONE POST ONLY RULE
Why do these lousy videos keep floating to the top like dried turds? Is this some kind of ROI system where they need enough impressions to pay for themselves?
Maybe it's better if your stoned?
President Obama, do the right thing and end the war on drugs.
I think that Article I of the Constitution precludes him from doing that.
Maybe it's better if your stoned?
Actually, they're worse.
President Obama, do the right thing and end the war on drugs.
The President is all [deaf] ears...
Oh, and I agree with Anna what's-her-name from Wonkette. The president doesn't get a grace period after he's elected. He's on the hook the moment he lands in office.
Reasonoids are still trying to find the pony in the big pile of horse shit left under the tree last Christmas. Come November 2012, they'll STILL be hoping for change, telling us that Obama is the Great Black Libertarian Hope for ending the war on substances.
Here's a clue for all those inside the beltway who are too deep in the swamp to see the truth: Ain't Gonna Happen! (props to nameless above)
"President Obama, do the right thing and end the war on drugs"
war on drugs?
Makes you long for the good old days of British Imperialism
we had a war for drugs!!
"The Opium Wars (simplified Chinese: ????; traditional Chinese: ????; pinyin: Y?pi?n Zh?nzh?ng), also known as the Anglo-Chinese Wars, lasted from 1839 to 1841[1] and 1856 to 1860,[2] the climax of a trade dispute between China under the Qing Dynasty and the British Empire. British smuggling of opium from British India into China in defiance of China's drug laws erupted into open warfare between Britain and China."

the Qing Dynasty Dynasty was gettin all
"drugs are bad"
so Queen Vic was like
"what you can take a bit of the hard stuff? Gaybo's!!!"
"we, The British, From Grrreat Britain, that tiny little Island in the Atlantic,
are gonna kick your asses for being such narcotic light weights,
then sell you some skag to take away the pain of the glorious, Britanic ass kicking you just received"
Obviously I don't recognise American Independance,
It's still British America
Queen Liz has just bin chilling wid her posse since 1947
Global domination was gettin boring so she let the colonialists give it a go
but when she gets her head together she's gonna start the Opium wars part three,
oh yeah

timely article on the "war" on drugs from The Economist. Their answer includes legalization. http://www.economist.com/printedition/displayStory.cfm?story_id=13237193

MM - don't make me get my musket. We already have enough surveillance cameras over here. If we could get Ladbrokes / Coral / William Hill shops on a few corners here, you'd have nothing on us.
You can always go to Canada, though. They even have that broad on their money.
"don't make me get my musket"
haha
Seriously muskets are cool just leave the tea out of it this time!!
BakedFlightless swimming bird!! Argg
I denounce your rule!
Dope is Finally ALIVE !!!

"the Drug Enforcement Administration would end its raids on state-approved marijuana dispensaries"
Is that brown or white egg on SIV's face?
This is good news.
While most of us are tired of the war on drugs, we also don't want the problems of legalization.
My solution is to decriminalize and sell at cost in select areas, with no age limit.
People can't have both drugs and safety, and they need to be aware of that.
People can't have both drugs and safety
Well, right now we've got neither.
What was it Ben Franklin said about liberty and security?
People can't have both drugs and safety,
Uh, why not?
MaterialMonkee,
I'm guessing you're not a stranger to the bong, either.
'I think that Article I of the Constitution precludes' Obama from ending the war on drugs.
To be sure, the President cannot disobey a constitutionally-valid law passed by Congress under its Article I authority. But unless you're a fan of the *Raich* decision, there is doubt about Congress's ability to prohibit the intrastate growth and sale of marijuana.
The one plausible argument Congress might have is its power to enforce treaties, in this case the various UN anti-drug treaties. That's why we still need the Bricker Amendment, IMHO.
Jesus Christ I hate you, anonymity troll.
But unless you're a fan of the *Raich* decision, there is doubt about Congress's ability to prohibit the intrastate growth and sale of marijuana.
Nope, Raich has precedent in Wickard.
I'm still predicting a return of medical marijuana raids.
I don't think they can return, exactly, because they never left.
Unless I missed something, and there was some kind of official order to knock it off.
