The Democrats' Miserable Week
From Iowa to impeachment, Biden burnout to Trump triumph, the opposition party had itself a rough 7 days.

While President Donald Trump gleefully consolidates both power and popularity (the latter if graded on a curve), the men and women who aim to replace him are having themselves a time. On today's Reason Roundtable podcast, Peter Suderman, Katherine Mangu-Ward, Nick Gillespie, and Matt Welch talk about the Iowa caucus debacle, Joe Biden's ongoing face-plant, the identity politics wipeout, Pete Buttigieg's tenuous deficit hawkery, and so much more.
Along the way, the gang manages to argue about—surprise!—Trump, Sen. Mitt Romney (R–Utah), The Irishman, the economy, and the potential meanings of "lying, dog-faced pony soldier." And yes, we go to the Oscars, in terms of both speechifying and merit. A fun time for the whole family!
Audio production by Ian Keyser and Regan Taylor.
Music: 'Black Moons' by the 126ers.

On the plus side if you're on the left, Rush had Cancer and Jordan Peterson almost died.
Seriously go check out how gleeful they are over those two things. What horrible people
"Here is something horrible some leftist once said. It clearly shows how all leftists are horrible people!!!!" - esteve7
One leftist shot a bunch of Senators, and another one just ran a van through a tent of Trump volunteers registering people to vote.
Need more?
The problem with the left vs right on violence is that it is an attempt to use a generalization fallacy to apply a guilt by association fallacy.
They blame the actions of a few on an entire group, then claim anyone that is part of the group is also guilty of promoting said violence.

Isn't this exactly what Identitarian Doinks do every minute of every day?
Yes it is exactly what they do. But we've been over this here before. Holding people to their own standards is apparently verboten. At least insofar as the standards are the ones the left tries to impose on everyone else.
Chipper doesnt even know where spending originates in government and is proud of it.
Youll notice he only ever whines about being fair to one side.
“Here is something horrible some leftist once said. It clearly shows how all leftists are horrible people!!!!”
Do you really want to go with that?

Re: Jordan Petersen almost died
I did not know this. Consults google...
Mikhaila Peterson recorded a two-minute and 50-second YouTube video outlining how her father, Jordan Peterson, developed a physical dependency to prescribed psychoactive drugs, almost died, contracted pneumonia, flew to Russia to seek different treatment after several visits to North American hospitals, reportedly went into an induced coma, and, finally, as of Feb. 7, 2020, is in recovery.
Hahahaha... Jesus Christ, Professor, make sure to clean your house you fucking screwball.
"Hahahaha… Jesus Christ, Professor, make sure to clean your house you fucking screwball."
Scumbag, the reason there won't be more people stamping on your grave is easy to see; no one wants to stand in line for such a pathetic effort.
Grow up, pay your bills, and then make the world a better place: Fuck off and die.
"Lying dog-faced pony soldier"
Okay now tell us how you really feel.
What did you say about my momma you bashi-bazouk?

Ring that dinner bell! Come get you a heaping helping of your daily Trumpety Trumpy Trump red meat for the slavering dogs! Chock full of yummy, gooey, tasty goodness fresh out of the oven, warm and filling and oh so satisfying! Never mind that it's a sugary confection of airy empty calories and if you eat too much you're at least going to make yourself sick if not risk losing a foot.
Some people don’t have a foot to lose.
Orange man is full of Vitamin C and fiber.
That explains why he's orange. 🙂

It's interesting that any thread at all has to do with Trump to those with TDS,
Stuff it up your ass, J. Pathetic.
This week wasn't all bad for the progressive / libertarian alliance. Mayor Pete is now a leading candidate with a real shot at the nomination. He has plenty of billionaire donors too. And since Koch / Reason libertarianism is primarily concerned with making life better for billionaires, this is a promising development indeed.

Turns out mayor Pete's family was slave owners living on stolen indigenous lands.
That's unfair to Mayor Pete who has intimate knowledge of what being a slave is like. As a matter of fact the ball gag he was forced to wear is still in his nightstand.
To be fair, the Democrats have had a terrible past 3 years.
MAGA!
Only if you ignore the historic #BlueWave of 2018.
Your parody is both tired and tiresome, but for all that supposed 'blue wave', it's looking like the Ds have managed to drown as a result.
What blue wave?
Team blue may have taken control of the House of Representatives, but team red not only held onto the senate, they gained seats in the senate.

A bad week is good, and another 8 months will be great.
It's not that I'm a Republican [I'm not] or that I like Trump [I don't, who honestly would?]; but I see and hear nothing from progressives and their now catamite Democrat Party that does nothing less than disgust me.
What do I want? Limited government that functions they way it is intended, according to the Constitution. Legislators propose, write, and pass laws and do not delegate much of their responsibility to a vast and unaccountable bureaucracy. Judges who rule according to the Constitution and precedent, and not try to legislate according to their preferred outcomes or desired policies. And and administrative branch that is appropriately limited in scope and power [and has to get congressional approval before any bombs, or drones, are used]. And absolute respect for the BOR, all of it. We are a nation of freedom and opportunity, not forced equity and guaranteed outcomes.
So how does Trump relate to this, you ask? Take a look at the 200 or so judges who have been confirmed over the past three years, and ask how this would have been totally different had the Hag of Babylon been elected instead. Another USSC judge or two and another hundred of FEDSOC's best to appellate and district courts and this will have an impact for generations. And just maybe both Congress and the Presidency will be held to standards we haven't seen for over 75 years. For that I will endure another four years of Orange Man.
Yeah, of all the reasons to hold your nose and vote for POTUS Trump, the judiciary is at the TOP of the list. The Article III Project is a 'must succeed' proposition.
"or that I like Trump [I don’t, who honestly would?]"
Ivanka? Jr?
Is that Biden or Al Sharpton?
They've had themselves a rough three to four years, but they continue to refusing to learn from it. I'm guessing they think the last 7 days were totes awesome.
Anyone wanna dish on what the roughest of the last 7 days were? I suggest the worst day for the Democrats was when Bloomberg lost Nick Gillespie's vote.
A problem if cast and counted were the same thing.

I so sorry this is happening to you, Reason.
Cry more.
Is Trump still in office? Have the walls closed in yet?
What else can the dems think of to stick it to themselves?
Not nearly as miserable as they deserve.
Funny how neither my Apple newsfeed, nor my Baltimore Sun app, nor any other mainstream media outlet I have seen has reported that Trump‘s gallop poll approval ratings are higher today than at any other time during his presidency. Although they are all very quick to inform me when a late night talk show host or SNL tells a Trump joke.
Pretty sure Colbert had to scramble for more content after his "Trump the Giant Impeach" gambit went south.
There's an old English movie,"How To Murder a Rich Uncle" where an impoverished noble family tries to bump off a rich American relative. One by one the attempts go awry and members of the family are obliterated. I think the Dems are doing the remake.

The idea that Mitt Romney "did the right thing" and "voted his conscience" is truly absurd. Go look at the way Romney and his lawyer got the RNC to rewrite convention rules at the last minute in order to exclude Ron Paul as a nominee. Romney doesn't care about what's "right." Everything he does is based on political calculation.
