NYC Agrees To Pay $13 Million to Activists Arrested in 2020 Racial Justice Protests
Plus: Twitter subpoenas Elizabeth Warren's communications with the SEC, mortgage rates are starting to fall, and more...

New York City has reached another record-setting settlement with people arrested in summer 2020 racial justice protests. The city has agreed to pay $13 million collectively to people arrested during 18 protests in Brooklyn and Manhattan—an agreement that amounts to nearly $10,000 per person arrested.
The settlement doesn't address the "harmful realities we were protesting in 2020," said plaintiff Savitri Durkee. "What it does do is affirm our constitutional right to protest that injustice, and protest we must. I'm going to spend the next few months making sure this settlement reaches every single activist in the class and I'm going right back in the street - and the First Amendment is my permit."
Neither the city nor the New York City Police Department (NYPD) has admitted to wrongdoing in conjunction with the settlement, which comes as part of a federal class action lawsuit (Sow, et al. v. City of New York, et al.).
But the plaintiffs say the payout vindicates their assertion that police violated protesters' constitutional rights.
"Although the city does not admit liability in this settlement, the size of this monetary settlement, coupled with the earlier settlement about Mott Haven, strongly suggests otherwise," said lead plaintiff Adama Sow.
Lawyers with the National Lawyers Guild's New York City branch filed the case in 2021 "on behalf of the thousands of people who participated in racial justice protests across New York City in the summer of 2020, following the police murder of George Floyd," per the lawyers' statement. They used police body cam and helicopter surveillance footage to help prove their claims, paying special attention "to specific types of misconduct including improper baton strikes, improper use of pepper spray, improper use of force, improper arrests and the use of a tactic called kettling where protesters are corralled into tight spaces before being arrested."
As part of the settlement submitted this week for Judge Colleen M. McMahon's approval, the city will pay $9,950 each to around 1,380 protesters arrested by the NYPD at 18 protests that took place between May 28 and June 4, 2020. People arrested for certain offenses, like assaulting police, are not part of the settlement.
Additionally, the city will pay the plaintiffs' attorney fees, which could amount to millions of dollars more.
"This will be the largest amount paid to protesters in a class action in this nation's history," according to attorneys on the case.
"The payout agreement follows a record-setting settlement earlier this year for hundreds of people who attended another 2020 protest in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx," notes Gothamist. "In that case, the city agreed to pay $21,500 to each eligible protester, for a total of about $6 million."

Twitter subpoenas Elizabeth Warren's communications with federal agencies. After Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren asked the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate potential conflicts of interest in Elon Musk heading up both Twitter and Tesla, Twitter has filed a subpoena seeking Warren's communications with the SEC and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). "The subpoena, filed Thursday, requests all communications and documents between Warren, the SEC and the FTC that relate to the senator's letter, X. Corp. — which is Twitter's corporate name — and its owner, Elon Musk, in the months since he purchased the social media platform Oct. 27, 2022," reports The Hill.

Inflation is ever-so-gently starting to fall and bringing mortgage interest rates along with it. "The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.78% in the week ending July 20, down from 6.96% the week before," reports CNN Business, citing new Freddie Mac data. At this time last year, however, the rate was just 5.54 percent.
"Mortgage rates have been over 5% for all but one week during the past year and even went as high as 7.08%, last reached in November," notes CNN. "Rates had been cooling off and sat under 6.5% for most of the spring. But in May, rates began to move higher as uncertainty around the debt ceiling standoff grew and interest rates remained elevated as economic data showed inflation was stickier than anticipated."
The Freddie Mac data come from a survey of mortgage applications from lenders around the country. But they only include rates for borrowers with excellent credit who put at least 20 percent down, meaning mortgage rates for many borrowers will still be much higher on average.
Meanwhile, a lack of housing supply continues to drive a drop in home sales.

And if you protested on 1/6 you're in jail for 2 years w/o charges. Totally not a 2 tiered justice system.

We SWARMED the halls of Congress today. Every head turned. Every jaw dropped. Revolution was in the air. The “progressives” begged us to stand down. But we held our ground. Nine of us were arrested.
We are in an emergency. We must act like it.
"We are in an emergency. We must act like it."
Agreed.
The left/globalists must be forcibly stopped and eliminated.
THIS, mind you, was NOT an insurrection. Sure they called for revolution...but NOT an insurrection.
J6? Totally one. And they will be punished illegally for it.
I work an online job from home and earn 185 dollars per hour. I never imagined I could do it, but my best friend, who makes $15,000 a month at the job, encouraged me to find out more about it. This has limitless possibilities.

The Climate Defiance protestors were arrested, same as the January 6th protestors were.
Are they still in jail?
Don’t know. It just happened two days ago.
Then search it and report back here. Don't return until you do.
Did any of them get shot in the face?
They would have mentioned that in the news stories, so no.
Of course, none of them were trying to force their way through a broken window into a barricaded Speaker's Lobby at the head of a violent mob.
After everyone was already evacuated with 3 cops on the same side as that “violent” mob with weapons at rest strolling around the hallway?
The BLM riots were also violent. So cops should have shot anyone looting and breaking windows right?
BLM riots are always violent and destructive. They should just be thankful the city mayor wasn't like Chicago Mayor Richard Daley sr. who order the police to shoot to kill anyone carrying a Molotov cocktail.
A violent mob escorted by cops.
No fair stealing the motto of the activist left!

Might be important to include why they were arrested. If they were looting or destroying private property fuck them. Punishing people for hurting people or taking their stuff is really the only legitimate function of the police.
Yeah, I'd like to know what they were arrested for. It's quite believable and possible that many of the arrests were inappropriate. But there were plenty of people doing legit crimes as well.
If that lawyer's guild defended them --- odds are, no, they were not inappropriate arrests.

Less than 30% of the J6 protestors in jail currently committed any violence or vandalism.

Refute it, bitch!
Fuck off and die, spastic asshole. Consider your bullshit refuted.
Yeah, I those cases I do know what they were arrested for and it is outrageous how they have been treated. As I understand it, usually when there are mass arrests at a protest, most are released with no charges, or maybe a summons. It's fucking nuts that the Jan 6 people who just followed the crowd inside were even arrested at all.
You can't say that about the BLM/ANTIFA protestors where 100% of those protesting were violent and destructive.
Protesters arrested in connection with violence — those arrested on charges including trespassing, property destruction, assaulting an officer, arson or weapons possession — will be excluded from the settlement. Those seen on video blocking police from making arrests may also be ineligible.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-york-city-agrees-pay-black-lives-matter-protesters-13-million-new-mass-arrests-settlement
So I am going to assume it is 1,380/10,000 that will get the settlement and the other roughly 9000 people who were committing trespass, property destruction, assaulting an officer, arson or possessed weapons are not.
Might be important to include why they were arrested.
If they were charged with COVID regime violations, then I don't have a problem with them being compensated.
Note Reason writes about this but ignores the City of Moscow, ID agreeing to a settlement for arresting a pastor and his congregates, who were outside, using social distancing per city recommendations (standing on actual sticky dots the city placed to show proper distancing for their protest) and singing hymns in protest of the city's blatant ban on worshipping, even outdoors. A protest they announced ahead of time, the city was aware of, and as stated the city even aided by placing stickers to show proper distancing per the city's decree. Protest? Yes, ergo protected speech. Peaceful? Singing hymns is usually pretty peaceful. Religious? Yes, certainly (so it hits two 1A issues). And yet despite complying with the city's stickers for social distancing they were still arrested, held for hours, and then arraigned. Fuck, Reason can even boaf sidez' this story, as Governor Little did nothing about it, because he was all on board with the COVID theater for far to long. He went right along with the proggies in Moscow, and didn't even voice disapproval. Hell, you can even ding the cops here, for arresting peaceful protestors, who offered no resistance, and then detaining them for hours in crowded jail cells, in a pandemic so bad the city felt it necessary to cancel any religious worship in groups. (Still puzzling how they thought that was the least bit consistent with the 1A).
Might be important to include why they were arrested.
Also, per Reason's stupidity about secret federal agents disappearing people burning a federal courthouse OR, the duration of their detention/arrest too. Toss a rock at a window and the police take you to the drunk tank to cool off for a couple hours and release you/drop the charges? I don't really care if the rock reached the window or not. Fuck you and fuck collecting any money for your bullshit.
If you're looking for minimal government action to protect minimal legitimate public interest, removing someone from the scene of a riot for a couple hours is about as minimal and legitimate as it gets. To the point that it almost renders Blackstone's ratio moot: Better to let one guilty rioter go free than detain 10 innocent rioters 24 hours... overnight... an hour... ? I'm fairly certain Blackstone didn't intend to say, "Let all the guilty people go free rather than take up anyone's time." and certainly not "Let all the guilty people go free and divide $13M of taxpayer's money among them."
Silly to think that.
Nice of leftist jurisdictions to pay the rioters who destroy it AS LONG as they are on their side.
Reparations 2.0
You think that is two tiered?
We just learned that the FBI learned that there are tapes of Joe Biden directly talking with Burisma about getting rid of the prosecutor ... And that Burisma paid $5 million directly to Joe specifically to protect them.
They need this way back in 2016.
So those of you worried that the "Quid Pro Quo" situation where we knew the Quid was getting rid of the prosecutor and the Quo was payoffs via Hunter.... But we never had the Pro actually documented... Well, it turns out that was documented too. Not only that, they had the direct payment to Joe.
"And nothing else happened" doesn't begin to cover this one.
There is not even a peep about it on the network news. Not even a cover story. It just doesn't exist.
Nobody loves Joe Biden. His power comes from longevity. He is not Bill Clinton, commanding loyalty with charisma and friendship and exchanged favors. Biden is more like McConnell or Robert Byrd... Never beloved, just with accumulated power through seniority.
Yet they pull out all the stops to protect him.
Nobody since Marion Barry has been this caught.
And the coverup is complete.
Gary Hart must be kicking himself. His career ended because a pretty girl sat on his lap. Our president is on the take... And nobody cares.
Of course they care. And they (the left wing cabal) likes it this way.
That FD-1023 form released by Senator Grassley was mind-blowing.
It is clear what the first impeachment of POTUS Trump was all about.
Yep. They wanted to keep the gravy train flowing when Trump was trying to end it.
Also there is a supposed interview with the Ukrainian president at the time that admitted that there was no documented corruption by the prosecutor (even though “everyone knows” he’s corrupt) and that he fired him specifically because Biden told him to.
It is highly problematic that the interview is "supposed" and tapes are "alleged."
Who has them and why are they not released? I have no doubts Joe was on the take, but I'm dubious that such strong evidence exists just out of reach.
Yeah, evidence for his corruption has been kept out in the open and not censored this whole time, so everyone should have already seen this interview.
They would not even comply with a subpoena to provide a document that was unclassified but talked about it.
Here is what we already had, for the dubious:
Biden personally bragging that he got the obscure prosecutor fired using US aid.
The prosecutor giving a long interview about his case against Burisma, the campaign to remove him and including documents to back up his claims.
Hunter Biden's business partner on TV explaining that they held 10% aside for "the big guy", and explaining that this was Joe. He also confirmed the emails on the Biden laptop.
The Biden laptop confirmed payments to a"the big guy" were a pont of contention.
Joe Biden said he never discussed business with Hunter and did not know he was working in Ukraine. This was proven to be a lie by photographs ofJoe and Hunter playing golf with Burisma Execs.
That is an iron lock, and none of that is even disputed.
The new stuff?
That Burisma execs spoke directly with Joe about getting the prosecutor fired.
That the execs talked about $5 million being paid directly to Joe (beyond the salary to Hunter as a board member)
That the President of Ukraine confirmed firing the prosecutor because Biden said so.
That Burisma directly spoke of Hunter and Joe as being on the payroll as protection for their company.
That much of this is on tape.
So.... Is that nothing? If it is nothing. What could possibly be something?
Did we have this much on Alcie Hastings? No. But he was removed from office. (He skated on criminal charges over the $150k bribe when his confessed co-conspirator suddenly declined to testify. Clinton would later pardon the co-conspirator).
Thanks for the summary, Cyto. It is helpful.
So…. Is that nothing?
It's not nothing. It is all evidence of Biden's corruption, but it is not conclusive enough to get him removed from office.
If it is nothing. What could possibly be something?
Hearing this: That much of this is on tape.
If you had a Mayor on video bragging about how he gets things done, saying he went in and got a local business to sell out to a developer by threatening to sic the building inspectors on his business.... And then you had his son getting paid by that developer and his son's business partner saying that this was a payoff to the Mayor.... And the son had as much in writing in his emails.... and you had the business owner saying as much....
Would you be able to win a conviction?
Or would you need to have tapes from the developer talking about how they paid him off before you went to court?
If the mayor had a good defense team, I don't think you could get a conviction without the tape or a money trail back to the mayor.
We have the money trail.
They have the money trail of wire transfers to various family members.
Unless you know what Joe's 22 year old granddaughter was doing for Romania.
The money trail does not go all the way to Joe, does it?
Common sense tells us why his family members are getting paid, but it's not good enough for conviction (for the elite).
The buck's gotta stop somewhere, Brix. If not with the "Big Guy", then who? We have the literal buck stopping at Biden.
Yeah. You could probably get Trump convicted of treason on this evidence, but not Biden. We need to see the proof because and email about the "big guy" and a confidential informant's word isn't going to cut it. I think release of the actual recording would, however.
He would stand zero chance. His co-conspirators discussed paying him in writing while talking amongst themselves. He personally verified taking otherwise inexplicable official action.
You don't need anything else. Every single element of the crime is present. If the judge gets paid off with a bag of cash, you don't have to produce the bag of cash. The guys who paid him talking about the payoff is plenty of evidence that it exists.
This argument is kinda goofy. Every step, the proof requires moves higher and higher.
You would rarely get half this much evidence in an official corruption case. There are zero gaps now. This sounds like the Dave Chapell skit about R Kelly jurors.
Tony Boubalinski is a willing witness to Joe being the Big Guy. Hunter and Joe had intermingled bank accounts. There is a 6M question on Joe’s Celtics Corp earnings as speech and book sales dont get close to the reported income.
So yes it can be linked directly to Joe as Joe enriching his family is still a legal violation of law, as he was the actor that provided the benefit to the foreign entities. Familial enrichment and personal enrichment fall under the same provisions in law.
Is someone funneling money to their wife's bank account still embezzlement or not?
This argument is kinda goofy. Every step, the proof requires moves higher and higher.
My point from the very beginning to now has always been and is we need to hear the recordings.
So yes it can be linked directly to Joe as Joe enriching his family is still a legal violation of law, as he was the actor that provided the benefit to the foreign entities. Familial enrichment and personal enrichment fall under the same provisions in law.
So it should be a done deal then. Do you expect an impeachment soon? (sincere question)
I have no faith in the senate nor DOJ. That doesn't mean he isnt guilty. If it was Trump there would have been an impeachment and multiple indictments already.
Thanks, Jesse. We agree on all of that.
Unless you know what Joe’s 22 year old granddaughter was doing for Romania.
Given the "training" Joe likely gave her in the shower, I think we can safely assume what she did in Romania to earn that money.
This is what happens to a Chicago alderman who got caught on tape shaking down a Burger King.
https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/alderman-ed-edward-burke-14th-ward-charged-attempted-extortion/
Ald. Edward Burke (14th) is now facing federal criminal charges, accused of trying to shake down a fast food company seeking to remodel a restaurant in his ward, seeking to force them to hire his private law firm in exchange. The powerful alderman allegedly threatened to play "hard ball" with company executives when they didn't hire his firm right away.
This is what should happen to Biden. For the record, Ed Burke's wife was head of the Illinois Supreme Court.
The November raids on Burke's offices happened the same day his wife, Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke, was sworn in for a new 10-year term on the state's highest court. A spokesman for the Supreme Court said Burke had no comment, as Illinois judges are barred from speaking publicly about pending criminal cases.
Edward Burke is the longest-serving alderman in Chicago history, and is the most powerful and influential member of the City Council. He has spent 50 years representing the 14th Ward on the Southwest Side, most of that time serving as chairman of the Finance Committee, holding a tight grip on spending legislation.
Now think about how long Joe Biden has been in office as a Senator, VP, and now President, and then think about the corruption that he has done.
Seeing as how this is in Chicago, doesn't surprise me in the least. Out of the last 11 Illinois governors, 4 of them spent time in prison. Is Pritzker next?
Reason needs to keep on track with this most unfortunate affair.
Found an article with a link to the audio. Surprising no one:

I think so. Up in the woods at the campfire with poor wifi and music playing. I’ll check it tomorrow.
NICE! I’m jealous.
Edit: Wrong place.
Like protesting police brutality and trying to overthrow the presidency are like so equivalent and stuff, you know?
Seriously though, yeah there is a two-tired justice system, but this isn't an example of it. The treatment of the Biden family, and of any other families with political connections, is an example. But this? No.
Not a leftist guys.
Granny in a walker almost took down the country.
That is a really bad take.
Protesting government action in an election and protesting government action in policing are the exact same thing. One lasted a couple of hours and did thousands in property damage. One lasted months and did billions in property damage.
The other potential parallels that nobody is talking about? Government involvement in creating the protests. Local governments definitely fostered and protected protests in 2020. They even directly created violent conflicts at times - see Charlottesville, NYC Proud Boys incident, etc.
If you are sanguine about little old ladies walking around after a rally being held for a year or more in solitary confinement to coerce a plea over trespassing charges, you are no libertarian. You are not even a little bit libertarian adjacent. That is way, way over in the authoritarian camp with the fascists and the stalinists.
… overthrow the presidency ..
Like that was ever a possibility.
Reminder: Joe Biden's inauguration on 1/21/2021 was the consolidation of a successful coup
Correct.
They didn't even have any F-15s.
Or nukes!
Some people did use force to take over property and declared that property was no longer under US jurisdiction. They setup up their own quasi-government. That's overthrowing the government.
It just wasn't in DC.
*cough* Seattle *cough*
But it was a Washington!
Morning Sarcasmic you disingenuous little shit.
Maybe you can explain for us why the police escorted J6 protesters were a deadly insurrection, but at Trump's inauguration when stores, government buildings and even cars were destroyed and burned in DC and cities around the country almost everyone got let off.
And then maybe you can explain for us why the J6 protesters were a deadly insurrection, but not the three day BLM siege of the Whitehouse in August of 2020 that culminated in 10 million in infrastructure damage, attacks on police, the Whitehouse being evacuated and the nearby church of St. John being burned.
In fact I remember you chortling here about the evacuation.
You're such a retarded little simp.
Hell. Explain why leftists going to judges homes to threaten them to rule a certain way isn't an insurrection by his weak definition.
Forget the one-off shill..,.
Our entire writing staff is in the exact same boat.
Get to the point!
I don't know of any of those "people" rotting in jails.
Both are political protests, protected up to the point where people get violent or destructive. As far as the law should be concerned, they are exactly the same.
But don’t accuse sarc of being for the left.
I'm staying out of that mess.
I understand your desire to stay above the name calling fray. But blatant hypocrisy should be called out. It’s much worse for honest discourse than silly name calling.
I’ve got to disagree that j6 was a political protest because it wasn’t protesting the actions of government (police brutality, enacting a law, or refusing to enforce a law are examples of government action), rather it was trying to overturn the results of an election.
Suppose for the sake of argument that the election really was illegitimate. What should people do in that case? I think at the very least, marching on Congress to demand they do something about it is a legitimate action. I see no reason to believe that most of the people involved didn't honestly believe that the election was illegitimate. People are allowed to be wrong about facts. Nor do I see any reason to believe that most people there had no intention other than to protest and voice their views. Some people went too far and deserve to be punished. And I'm sure there were some yahoos there who thought they were going to force Congress to make Trump president again. But that doesn't represent the whole event. And there was never a chance in hell that they could have succeeded.
Suppose for the sake of argument that the election really was illegitimate. What should people do in that case?
They should prove it.
"Prove there wasn't fraud! You can't do it! That means there was fraud!" is not proving fraud. It's declaring guilt and refusing to accept proof of innocence.
I see no reason to believe that most of the people involved didn’t honestly believe that the election was illegitimate.
You say "believe," I say "feel."
People are allowed to be wrong about facts.
What facts? Assertions are not facts. Demands for proof of innocence are not facts.
Nor do I see any reason to believe that most people there had no intention other than to protest and voice their views.
The same thing can be said about the summer protests.
Some people went too far and deserve to be punished.
Again, the same thing can be said about the summer protests.
And I’m sure there were some yahoos there who thought they were going to force Congress to make Trump president again. But that doesn’t represent the whole event.
That's the same thing as saying not all summer protesters were rioters, which is what I've been saying all along.
And there was never a chance in hell that they could have succeeded.
Tell them that.
They should prove it when election materials are non public. Good take sarc.
Right, so how are the two totally different things then? In both cases a minority of those protesting got violent and did bad things. In both cases, people were protesting what they saw as immoral or unlawful actions of agents of the state.
It was literally protesting illegal actions regarding the election as confirmed over a dozen times in court. It was protesting the election changes that made more than half the country, including a third of democrats, believe there was fraud in 2020. It was protesting the IC induced censorship to help Joe in an election year.
They were protesting the actions of govt. They were protesting against voter fraud and demanding an investigation.
if you protested on 1/6 you’re in jail for 2 years w/o charges.
Nope. Some may not yet have been tried, but held without charge? Conspiracy bullshit.
https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-764100273142
Invented charges just fine for the obnoxiously arrogant piece of shit!
There is actually a case where someone was not charged and kept being moved from federal district to district to reset the timer. It lasted almost a year without a charging hearing. It was such a mess he finally plead guilty when D.C. rushed to charge him as they only did one of the charges they were going to use to go after him. Guilty plea to the small one charge was then fought by D.C. prosecutors as invalid to go after him with more charges after he plead guilty.
So as usual you are wrong shrike.
But in this case he meant to say without bail where there are numerous examples of J6 non violent protestors.
Still not shrike, you lying fuckwit.
You found a single case of someone who spent nearly a year before being charged. This means he was charged.
Got anything about people spending two years, per Ras’s claim? No? Ergo you’re wrong – and lying as usual. Now fuck off.
Oh,and if he meant to say without bail, he could have said so in a later correction. But I guess you had to white-(robe-)knight him.
Are you too stupid to understand the constitutional right to a speedy trial? The DoJ violated his rights by playing jurisdiction games. Weren't you just in a thread last week claiming a single abuse is still abuse? Yet here you defend it.
And yes it is about bail. But even in the DoJ cases they keep tacking on charges to elicit a plea. They illegally searched bank and phone records as Wray admitted. They pressured d.c. lawyers to not defend prosecutors. They withheld discovery from defense witnesses. They threatened 20 year charges for non violent threats. They had undercover officers on video encouraging people to enter the Capitol. Please, keep defending this shrike.
I get your primary concern is defending political prosecutions of the left, but please never claim to be an actual libertarian shrike.
Gov’na shrike: It didn’t happen.
Jesse: Here’s an example.
Gov’na shrike: yeah it just happened once and ONLY FOR ONE YEAR.
FFS dude. Should people be held in jail for a year without charges? Fucking authoritarians.
SRG has problems.
SRG has 99 problems, and being Diet Shrike is one.
Wrong-o.
Ras makes a claim.
I show that the claim is bullshit.
JesseAZ says I’m wrong and tried to prove it by using an example that does not support Ras’s claim – as anyone with more than half a brain could see. Ras claimed that if you rioted on Jan 6, you're held in jail for 2 years without charges, The best JesseAZ could do was find one guy who spend 1 year before being charged. Spot the difference, dummies.
People with less than half a brain then say that JesseAz is right.
So a mob that is burning and looting can no longer be dispersed. Yet coming in thru an open door onto public property to take a selfie gets you more time than many armed robbers or rapists
And don’t claim the people defending this aren’t real libertarians, cuz reasons.
Totally not a 2 tiered justice system.
Whaddyatalkinabout? They took $5M from a wealthy elitist like Donald Trump on literally nothing other than an allegation *and* $13M from your average New York taxpayer for people apprehended literally in the midst of destroying property and assaulting people, both sides.

Nope. Saw it alive this morning.
Poor Mike.

New York City has reached another record-setting settlement with people arrested in summer 2020 racial justice protests.
ENB has a poor track record with lots of stuff.
I wonder if NYC compensated those two lawyers with the molotov cocktails?
ENB has a poor track record with anything not involving whores.
It's not clear that if a whore refused to serve a tranny whose side ENB would be on. Pretty good odds that if a group of Johns preferred female hookers and both the female hookers and the Johns were complaining about being harassed by trannies, ENB would wait for the blowback, take the trannies side, and spin it as the trannies being oppressed. Exceedingly good odds that she'd cheer a series of abortion of XX fetuses by a career female sex worker any/all of whom, sans abortion, would likely also become a female sex workers.
ENB's only got a good track record in her own head as viewed through her eyeballs.
Automatically adding your userbase from your other platforms probably isn't the amazing growth being advertised.

You've heard many explanations for the cascade of Covid lockdowns in 2020. You've never heard this one. (And it's fascinating.)
Did an earthquake in Italy in April 2009 help fuel the catastrophic overreaction to the coronavirus 12 years later?
https://alexberenson.substack.com/p/youve-heard-many-explanations-for
...At 3:32 a.m., on April 6, 2009, a quake struck L'Aquila, a pleasant town of 70,000 in the central Italian highlands. The temblor registered 5.9 on the Richter scale. It should hardly have been devastating.
Instead, over 300 residents of L’Aquila and surrounding towns died, probably due to old and shoddy construction. “In California, an earthquake like this one would not have killed a single person,” an Italian official said the day after the quake.
But prosecutors chose not to take on powerful and politically connected developers or town officials for building flaws. They focused on a different target - six scientists and a government official who were part of group called the National Commission for the Forecast and Prevention of Major Risks.
Small quakes had rocked the area around L’Aquila for months, alarming residents. At a meeting in the town on March 31, 2009, the seven downplayed the risk that the shaking was a sign of a bigger earthquake. The region is seismically active, and small earthquakes are common.
A year after the quake, prosecutors charged the seven members of the commission with manslaughter for failing to warn the town it might be coming. The indictments prompted an outcry from scientists, especially geologists....
How Covid Lockdowns Came to Italy
https://he_who_must_not_be_named.substack.com
...In 2013, a new political party formed by comedian Beppe Grillo called the Five Star Movement (M5S) began to rise. Like most of Italy’s political parties, M5S marketed themselves as populist and anti-establishment, but Grillo and M5S had long sought and formed close relations with China. As M5S gained political power, they sold relations with China to the Italian people as a way to foster Italy’s economic independence.
After M5S member Giuseppe Conte became Prime Minister in 2018, the party’s overtures to China reached an apex when Conte gave Xi Jinping a royal welcome and signed onto his Belt and Road initiative, becoming the first major European country to do so....
...[T]he WHO is already talking about how “problematic” modeling the Chinese response in Western countries is going to be, and the first country they want to try it out in is Italy. If it begins a large outbreak in a major Italian city they want to work through the Italian authorities and world health organizations to begin locking down Italian cities in a vain attempt to slow down the spread at least until they can develop and distribute vaccines, which btw is where you need to start investing… I just think it’s a really shitty thing to not be sharing this information with the public because they arrogantly think we’re all irrational and shouldn’t be informed as they are.
Democracy 2.0: elitist totalitarianism for the good of the planet (and some of the people).
berenson is a national treasure
That shit Italy pulled against the geologists really pissed me off when it happened. There is no way to predict earthquakes. There are theories about things that happen prior to an earthquake, and observations that one might be happening, but proper prediction like we have for the weather just doesn't happen.
Remember, when scientists just make recommendations and govt just “follows the science” and takes their recommendations, so nobody in particular is accountable or responsible, its in an environment where the ‘scientists’ know there will be hell to pay if they advocate calm and their asses are covered if they recommend a major government power grab.
Not to get too disagreeable, but... kinda. These sorts of stories, my mind always goes back to Katrina and people saying "Bush knew the levies would be topped! Scientists warned him! He did nothing!" Watching the video, it rapidly becomes clear that the people claiming it was an "AHA!" moment don't understand any part of the context and think sending federal troops/agents into a hurricane without the Governor's approval risks lives and potentially violates liberties and would require a "Holy Shit! These levies aren't going to hold! We need people now! Even if only to help people out of the debris afterwards and wheel or boat people out safely." and, instead we got "Well, the levies are holding for now, but the water's still rising. There's a chance they could be topped. The potential is there, yeah."
Biden, Bribes, and Burisma.
https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/article_3d023e1a-2733-11ee-818e-8ba110ef043c.html
The document, which details the allegations of a trusted FBI informant, was released by U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.
The informant, referred to in the FBI document as a Confidential Human Source, or “CHS,” said that “Burisma hired the former President or Prime Minister of Poland to leverage his contacts in Europe for prospective oil and gas deals, and they hired Hunter Biden to ‘protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.’”
“CHS asked why they (Burisma) needed to get CHS's assistance regarding the purchase/merger of a US-based company when Biden was on their board,” the document says. “Pojarski replied that Hunter Biden was not smart, and they wanted to get additional counsel. The group then had a general conversation about whether the purchase/merger with a US company would be a good business decision.”
The two-page document from June 2020 appears to be an FBI document detailing a report from the informant, who said a Burisma executive told the informant he had recordings of conversations with the Bidens showing he was “coerced” into paying them.
Ukrainian and Chinese entities are among those that made the payments, which the whistleblowers laid out alongside blockbuster claims that the president’s Department of Justice interfered with the investigation into Hunter Biden.
"After foreign companies sent money to business associates’ companies, the Bidens then received incremental payments over time to different bank accounts,” House Oversight Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said at the hearing. “These complicated financial transactions were used deliberately to conceal the source of the funds and total amounts.”
Until recently my position has been that Republicans should impeach Garland and Mayorkis, but leave Biden alone to let the establishment stew in his embarrassment. But after all these recent revelations, they need to impeach him ASAP.
Let’s see how blatant corporate media can get covering up information provided during an impeachment hearing.
Also in the WSJ this morning, Chief Diversity Officers are on the way out:
"Companies including Netflix, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have recently said that high-profile diversity, equity and inclusion executives will be leaving their jobs. Thousands of diversity-focused workers have been laid off since last year, and some companies are scaling back racial justice commitments."
Somehow Trump is behind this.
Which may be why Trump leads in so many polls.

Three cheers for espresso my favorite energy drink.

For what? Coffee and espresso should be drunk black.

Lefties, they just can't resist that sly racism...
Nope. Although fat itself is flavourless, it stimulates all taste cells on the tongue, increasing the response of those cells to the specific flavours they respond to . Hence full-fat milk or cream enhance the coffee flavour, rather than dilutes it.

Leftists have taught people that:
Men are stupid, helpless, ineffectual rage monsters who subjugate women and have destroyed the earth.
Minorities can’t succeed without a guiding hand (from white leftists).
Women are oppressed and the only way they can be successful is if they marginalize men and reject the idea of the nuclear family.
Children are incapable of determining who and what they are/will be and must be forced to accept a “gender” that adults feel is appropriate for them.
The planet will die unless collectivism is forced upon the masses and the concept of self determination is destroyed.
Religion has only ever hurt people and that science must necessarily become the religion shared by all humans. We are to ignore the fact that science is carefully controlled and must adhere to a political narrative.
A “one world government” is the key to a sustainable future and that bureaucrats educated at progressive universities shall decide what is best for all others.
Leftists view these “important issues and lessons” as key in creating a happy and sustainable future, despite the fact that collectivist ideologies have created the worst suffering this planet has ever known. Unfortunately, collectivists are unwilling or unable to acknowledge the mistakes of the past. Each new generation is educated on the lofty societal goals that can only be achieved by the winnowing away of individual rights, but they never discuss the tens of millions that have been killed as a result of such thinking. “That wasn’t ‘real’ socialism,” they say with a straight face. “Real socialism has never been tried.”
I cannot think of a more backwards and dangerous way of thinking, yet leftists feel that the world cannot survive without their superior intelligence. This would be laughable if not for the deadly consequences that are inseparable from their “perfect society.”

Working out is right wing
Eating healthy is right wing
Having a family is right wing
Loving your children is right wing
Educating children correctly is right wing
Prosecuting crimes is right wing
Owning a home, living a full life & being happy is right wing
So does that mean that to be a good leftist you’re supposed to be miserable, ugly, unhealthy, unsafe, fat, uneducated & lonely?!
If that’s the case in God’s name would anyone want that?!
Remember when the Smithsonian published a poster degrading a bunch of similar "traditional" values as white privilege? Good times.
You mean this one:

FAKE NEWS!
All true, but why can't the lady say "why"? God got her tongue? 🙂
Eating healthy is right wing? Haven't heard that one before. I thought all those flyover rubes are eating chicken fried steak, greasy fries and gallons of beer for every meal.
Yeah, that’s a head scratcher.
Several of the more conservative commenters here have bragged about their meat consumption, and declare their disgust when Reason writes about artificial meat, because artificial meat is obviously a progressive scheme. In Idaho Bob’s case, he proudly talks about his consumption of meat that he put on his table by hunting.
They also regularly make paranoid comments about how the progressives are going to make us all eat bugs.
You mean paranoid theories like this one, Laursen? The one straight from the WEF itself?
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/07/why-we-need-to-give-insects-the-role-they-deserve-in-our-food-systems/
Insects are a credible and efficient alternative protein source requiring fewer resources than conventional breeding. Studies suggest that for the same amount of protein produced, insects, mealworms in particular, require much less land than other sources of animal proteins. A study on crickets suggests they are twice as efficient in converting feed to meat as chicken, at least four times more efficient than pigs and 12 times more efficient than cattle.
It goes from there.
I think they're right. I've caught more bass, carp, and crappie with insects than anything else. For salmon and trout I do much better with smaller fish than I do with insects. Don't get me wrong, nematodes have their place depending on the conditions and they're one of my go-tos for catching eel.
Your confusion comes from erroneously believing eating meat is unhealthy.
I admit I went off on a tangent. I apologize for that.
I didn’t mean to imply eating meat is unhealthy. (Although eating meat excessively and not getting a variety of other foods is unhealthy.)
My intention was to point out how proudly, well, conservative the commentariat’s conservatives are about good.
And this one, Laursen? Also straight out of the WEF itself?
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/02/plant-based-diet-biodiversity-report/
Switching en masse to a plant-based diet is essential to protect wildlife habitats and prevent the loss of numerous species currently facing extinction, according to a new report.
At the root of the problem is cheap food. While cut-priced comestibles may seem like a good thing, especially for low-income households, market pressure to continually reduce food production costs forces many farmers to adopt unsustainable, intensive methods that harm the land and overuse valuable resources like energy, land and water.
How fucking ignorant, disingenuous, and dishonest are you, shill?
This is the real reason he’s muted you. He has to ignore these things to keep fighting for the narrative.
Are you dumb enough to think meat is unhealthy?
Yes. Even when cooked in HO2
“In Idaho Bob’s case, he proudly talks about his consumption of meat that he put on his table by hunting.”
Oh my, how horrible!
Yes doing what hominids have been doing for millions of years of evolution is so wrong (also, every extant great ape species also consumes meat, not just the hominid branch).
Eating red meat is what sparked the cerebral development that led to humans from apes.
Several of the more conservative commenters here have bragged about their meat consumption, and declare their disgust when Reason writes about artificial meat, because artificial meat is obviously a progressive scheme. In Idaho Bob’s case, he proudly talks about his consumption of meat that he put on his table by hunting.
Not proudly talking about meat consumption...proudly talking about not needing/consuming the toxic FDA products the infrastructure supply chains offer.
John Kerry recently said “we need to get militant with agriculture.” He apparently wants to go to war with our food supply.
Why do the progs keep throwing out this “red meat” (haha) for paranoid conservatives to pounce upon?
You’re an idiot laursen.
It's strange that they think all land is pristine vegetable growing land. You destroy the prairie if you rip it up and irrigate it to grow plants. If you raise cows on the prairie they live in harmony with the land.
Switching from meat to an all plant diet will cause catastrophic environmental destruction.
So does that mean that to be a good leftist you’re supposed to be miserable, ugly, unhealthy, unsafe, fat, uneducated & lonely?!
*looks over at Jeff*
"Story checks out."
Uh, Science is not (or rather should not be) controlled by anything other than evidence and (properly understood and practiced) does not hold to political narratives.
And, yeah, religion has only ever hurt people by having them replace their only faculty of survival, Reason, with faith. And religion has never provided any good that couldn’t be provided otherwise.
I await your reply. Like Soldiermedic76 and Mtruman, you may Gish Gallop to your exhaustion.
🙂
Religion creates social cohesion. Societies work best when the vast majority think the same way about core issues and work toward common goals. I can't think of a single society in history that prospered without some form of religion. On the contrary, break down of shared values or introduction of a new religion or belief system has almost always preceeded the collapse of cultures/civilizations.
You mean people can't unite over anything else, like getting things they want and need in exchange for other things that others want and need?
"And, yeah, religion has only ever hurt people by having them replace their only faculty of survival, Reason, with faith."
Faith does not replace reason, it complements it.
Reason without faith is untenable, because you would be unable to function without some assumptions you were given by others. It's what makes teaching and instruction work.
Faith without reason is also untenable, because without the ability to discern and interpret you would be at the mercy of the information given.
"And religion has never provided any good that couldn’t be provided otherwise."
Give me a real world example of a society without some form of motivating religion providing a social good and I'll acquiesce. It's never happened to my knowledge.
This is nonsensical theorizing, like saying a green sky is healthier for plants and animals than a blue one.
So The Law of Identity and it's corellaries The Law of the Excluded Middle and The Law of Non-Contradiction are just matters of faith?
And you misconstrued what I said. I didn't say religion provided no good, simply that it didn't provide a good that couldn't be provided by another means.
I'm neither religious nor a theist, but I think you way over simplify things. Yes, religion has been used by the powerful throughout history as a tool of control. But religiosity seems to be built into the human mind somehow. It's not an accident that every human society ever develops religion. And it's more than just a pre-scientific attempt to understand the world.
I agree that religion has been applied in many very bad ways throughout history and has been a tool of the powerful. But if you are going to replace something that is that fundamental a part of human society, you better be sure what you are replacing it with isn't worse. Societies supposedly guided by science or reason don't really have a better track record.
Easy to see how collective belief and brain evolution developed in reinforcing cycles. And how people with brains inclined towards skepticism and challenge have always been considered deviant.
But if not for the deviants we would all still be worshipping bushes and animals from our caves and mud huts.
The deviant brains of marxists want us to go back to worshipping bushes and animals from our caves and mud huts based on "The Science."
That's true. But a stable society needs a lot of people who just want to be normal and live their lives.
Atheist Marxism was used to subjugate half the world and resulted in 150 million deaths in less than 50 years. All the deaths in all the religious wars in history amount to a drop in that bucket. The most exaggerated estimates of deaths from the infamous Spanish Inquisition are 150 thousand over its 350 year history.
Collectivism is magnitudes of order more dangerous than any religion.
So where was religion and indeed God throughout all the Marxist horrors of the Twentieth Century? Doesn't the conspicuous absence of God and any effective opposition of religion to all the flavors of Marxism amount to a damning indictment of them all?
Your bigotry has left you extremely ignorant of history.
I hope you realize you don’t come across as some sort of intellectual when you post this stuff.
Note he often misquotes the Bible, groups all Christians together and then damns us by the most extreme, and passes off pop-history myths as actual history. He calls me out because I've corrected him multiple times. His most recent myth was nothing happened during the Middle Ages, and all the knowledge of Rome and Greece was lost because of the church (which were the ones that actually preserved and taught it). I gave him a long bibliography of noted Middle Ages historians to read to show why he was wrong. I'm betting he didn't, instead relying on Cracked.com.
The sad thing is he’s replaced religion with beliefs that are just as dogmatic, and he’s not intellectually curious enough to question his own priors.
Whereas, I, a theist, constantly question my beliefs, both religious and scientific. But then again, I'm Lutheran, and you know what they say about Lutherans: if you have two Lutherans discussing theology, you'll get three different views.
I mean Luther was one of the ultimate skeptics, as were Hus and Wycliffe (both of whom were executed for their skepticism). But he maintains that Christianity is all dogmatic. Luther literally placed his life on the line, as Hus was a near contemporary and one of his influences. Don't see to many modern 'skeptics' placing their life on the line and nailing the proverbial thesis to any cathedral doors.
I'm not at all religious, having become seriously agnostic and left Christianity behind several decades ago, but I can still recognize that it was the philosophical basis that gave us the Enlightenment.
Same.
And even though most of the Islamic world is currently in a dark age, there’s been times when Madras were the height of the search for knowledge.
Madrasas. iPhone spellcheck Islamaphobic?
Let the Gish Galloping begin... 🙂
So not sillently nodding along with the Fentanyl of the masses is bigotry?
You are correct about science, but wrong when it comes to the modern view of science.
Note how many policy decisions are supposedly driven by 'science' even when the actual 'science' quoted is not even remotely scientific. Many times it's obvious to even a layman that it's an outcome driven study where any evidence to the contrary was willfully ignored.
How one ignores the fact that there has been a reproducibility crisis in the scientific community for going on decades now is also beyond my understanding. It tells you, without much doubt, that there is very little 'science' in the scientific community these days.
It isn't new. Bad science, sloppy science, politically-motivated science has been around as long since the Scientific Revolution. We are fortunate that every now and then a scientist gets it right, and human knowledge advances.
And then you have people like Lysenko and Fauci.
The reproducibility crisis really is something to behold. Social sciences and medicine are the most guilty, but no field has been immune. Also, the huge number of retractions related to fraudulent data. Plus p-mining, inference of causation from correlation. In many ways it is as fraught with credibility troubles as the much more publicized shortcomings of the Catholic Church. The media just, outside a narrow sector, has largely ignored it. But recog is just a bigot, who usually is wrong on religious dogma, history, and often science. So, I am betting he isn't aware of the crisis or controversy. Also, social science is kind of an oxymoron.
All I know is when I hear someone say - "scientific concensus" - I want to kick them in the groin.
The leftists are responsible for one hundred million graves that stand in silent repose to leftism.

https://alexberenson.substack.com/p/what-did-dr-anthony-fauci-know-and
By the end of that early February weekend, Fauci must have understood his position was uniquely difficult.
Andersen and his fellow virologists were working to figure out if the virus was natural or had come out of a lab. They openly discussed their fears of problems for Chinese-Western relations if they acknowledged the latter possibility.
But Fauci had a second worry - one that does not seem to have occurred to Andersen and the other virologists in February 2020, at least in the documents revealed so far. He knew that NIH generally and his division specifically faced the potential for blowback if a lab leak investigation gained traction.
Fortunately, Fauci had some hole cards.
That $6 billion research budget, for one, making his hugely important to any virologist who wanted a successful career.
...So it was that within a few weeks, Andersen and his co-authors had written exactly the paper that Tony Fauci needed them to write, a paper that, without quite saying so, consigned the lab leak theory to the fringes of conspiracy.
If only the world’s largest social media site could push it even further down the rathole!
Fortunately, Fauci had a friend there too.

Burisma's top executive told a confidential source for the FBI that he funneled money to the Biden family in ways that would take investigators "10 years" to unravel the money laundering scheme used to provide "illicit payments to Joe Biden."
Joe Biden's name is all over this document, which might explain why 1) Democrats were so desperate to impeach Trump for digging into Biden corruption in Ukraine, 2) the FBI and DOJ hid the document from investigators and Congress, 3) the FBI and DOJ obstructed the investigation into Hunter Biden, 4) why the corrupt plea deal with Hunter Biden was struck, and 5) why Joe Biden is willing to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to protect the current regime in Ukraine.
Long story short, we're getting thousands of Ukrainian men killed (totes OK - they're socially irrelevant working class men) and playing nuclear brinkmanship with 4K nukes pointed at us with a senile dementia patient in the White House. If WWIII breaks out and 100 million die, they die.

After an investigation of Burisma by Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was disclosed in 2016, the source told Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of Burisma , that the disclosure would have a negative impact on the prospective initial public offering. Mr. Zlochevsky replied that Mr. Hunter Biden “will take care of all of those issues through his dad,” according to the document.
Around the same time, Mr. Joe Biden, the U.S. vice president at the time, was pressuring Ukrainian officials to fire Mr. Shokin. “We’re leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor’s not fired, you’re not getting the money,” Mr. Joe Biden said at a public event about the interaction, referring to a $1 billion loan guarantee he threatened to withhold. “Well, son of a [expletive]. He got fired.”
“We’re leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor’s not fired, you’re not getting the money,” Mr. Joe Biden said at a public event about the interaction, referring to a $1 billion loan guarantee he threatened to withhold. “Well, son of a [expletive]. He got fired.”
Joe bragged about it. And then nothing happened.
The FBI knew about the direct involvement with conversations between Veep Joe and the Burisma execs, and a direct payment of $5 million.... And nothing happened.
The press just learned that the only fig leaf they had "you can't prove that Joe pressured them to fire the prosecutor *because* of the payments to Hunter" is now gone.
They are Pravda.
And this is a sign that the DNC is considering dumping Joe before the 2024 election. They did the same thing with Cuomo last time around, so who knows which faction is going to win.
"Joe bragged about it."

A bunch of context Team Red leaves out of their narrative:

“The international effort to remove Shokin, who became prosecutor general in February 2015, began months before Biden stepped into the spotlight, said Mike Carpenter, who served as a foreign policy adviser to Biden and a deputy assistant secretary of defense, with a focus on Ukraine, Russia, Eurasia, the Balkans, and conventional arms control.”
I'm going to believe my lying eyes and ears on this one, thanks.
Your prerogative.
Keep lying, shill.
Fed
It’s all corrupt as fuck and you know it.
Totally not a Democratic Party shill, folks.
Stop trying to run cover for the Bidens, shill. They impeached Trump for merely having the audacity to ask about this bribe, dipshit.
This is false. During the first impeachment attempt members of the State Department admitted to giving Shokin good reviews and supported his anti corruption efforts. This is in the impeachment transcripts.
The narrative Mike is using is false based on contemporary statements made by the State Department just months earlier.
“said Mike Carpenter, who served as a foreign policy adviser to Biden”
What a shill.
So what was supposed to have been wrong with Trump asking Zelenskyy for a second look?
Hunter Biden “was stupid, and his (Zlochevsky’s) dog was smarter,”
I think I saw a bumper sticker like this.

The regulatory state has been used for years to delay SpaceX. Suspicions fell on Boeing and Rocketdyne and other old-space companies that were facing potential extinction in the face of SpaceX competition. Bezos overtly played a role in some of the delays faced by SpaceX in Texas.
But daring to allow the opposition to have a voice is way more of a threat than mere money.
Meanwhile, the military needs SpaceX. Starship and Starlink are going to be crucial weapons going forward.
This should be quite the battle of bureaucracies.
A lot of people underestimate what a game changer Starship is going to be.
The biggest spacecraft ever, hauling the biggest loads ever, into space hundreds of times a day, for a thousandth of the price of the an Ariane or Soyuz.

Don't you think a fair analysis of paying off protestors, which this is, should include the costs of damage and number of assaults during the protests?
It is amazing someone in a group burning, looting, and assaulting a city can make money off of it.... yet non violent examples that didn't burn a single building down can go 2 years no bail just a few hundred miles south.

Did they reveal how much that bar tab was ?
Less than the crack tab.
You guys need to read this. It is damning of the FBI and the DOJ.
There is no ambiguity here. They knew about Biden being on the take at the time... With proof from every side in hand.... And covered it up for years. Long before he became a candidate against Trump.
Remember... They impeached Trump for *asking* about this bribe.
No concrete evidence the FBI is corrupt - Jeffy

So what the fuck was Obama doing with all this going on? Was he kept in the dark? Why isn't anyone asking him?
Presumably, Obama had to have gotten his cut as well, but that’s my running assumption at this point. Don't forget that the man learned at the foot of the Chicago Daley and Madigan Machines.
Dude got $60 million from Netflix immediately after leaving office.
Coincidentally, Netflix desperately needed defense from ISPs who were worried about Netflix traffic, which had grown to over 50% of all internet traffic. They wanted to charge Netflix for this.
Obama ended that threat with "net neutrality".

Bullshit.
Contrary to the narrative in these comments, not every protestor was a rioter.
Now do 1/6. 5/28 was markedly more violent and destructive to government property - and THEY also got paid.
There really isn't much to compare. One was angry people protesting their treatment by the police, the other was a bunch of delusional yahoos led by a delusional gameshow host who thought they could change the election of the President of the United States. One was people with a legitimate gripe, while the other tried to overthrow the federal government. Sure most of the people in these comments believe protesting police brutality is wrong while trying to stop the peaceful transition of power for the first time in nearly 250 years is right, but most sane people would disagree.
You left out the part about BLM-antifa goals of total revolution.
The vast majority of the summer protesters were just that, protesters. Saying they all wanted revolution because some fringe idiots did just isn't honest.
Showing up on day 45 of a nightly riot shows they were not protestors. Just giving cover to those committing crimes. But hey it works on morons like yourself.
Yet you claim the one day protestors are more at fault.
Fiery but mostly peaceful, ignore the body bags.
Looting Nike and Apple stores were very revolutionary as well. Setting businesses and even police cars on fire was true freedom of speech.
Peacefully walking into the "People's House" is a violent insurrection: CNN.
One injured numerous Secret Service agents, burnt down a Secret Service post, and burned down a church.
The other...walked in the Capitol.
While it is a horrible crime to attempt to burn down a church, let’s stick to facts. The church was not burned down:
https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/dc/st-johns-church-washington-dc-george-floyd-protest/65-6dc44732-8560-4179-91ca-0ad56b96e0c9
“D.C. fire officials confirmed that there was a fire in the basement at the church. Officials also said the blaze was extinguished. It appears from images and social media reaction that there is no damage to the sanctuary.”
The other…walked in the Capitol.
You can't think of anything else that protestors did on January 6th besides walking around the Capitol? Be honest.
Well, one of them got fatally shot while stopping a fed from destroying a window.
For the vast majority of those arrested, no. They even got an old lady for walking in the grass and never entering the building.
Walking "while unhappy with an election"
That is to white people what plain old walking is to black people. That is like being a dog and holding a water pistol at the same time in front of a cop that is taking methamphetamines.
You can’t think of anything else that protestors did on January 6th besides walking around the Capitol while unhappy? Be honest.
Not a leftist guys.
The primary difference for sarc is what team the protestors were on.
He continues to defend multi year sentences, political prosecutions, no bail for not violent j6 protestors.
Also, one protest had many of the protestors posting photos and videos of themselves in flagrante delicto to social media. And then crying that it was unfair that they were subsequently arrested.
So only a crime if you post a video? That is one fine metric. Not like BLM marches were ever filmed or anything.
Did you see what she was wearing? Just asking for it.
Protesting “their” treatment by police? I would argue they were the angry delusional yahoos
And people protested their treatment by police protested by burning down a church and attacking Secret Service agents?
There was a time when people who burned down churches were considered the bad guys.
Still getting all your news from CNN, eh.
or is it MSNBC...
Yup, that is why they arrested only 18,000 while not arresting the 1 million+ others who were just protesting.
"Mortgage rates have been over 5% for all but one week during the past year and even went as high as 7.08%, last reached in November," notes CNN. They then went on to say, "Besides, charging interest on money 'borrowed' by women and POC is white patriarchy."
At this point the jokes write themselves.
Today's CNN headline is tomorrow's BabylonBee headline.

How bad was Bud Light's fall?
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/bud-lights-popularity-bars-and-restaurants-almost-non-existent
Union, a data-driven hospitality engagement platform with a point-of-sales system in bars and restaurants nationwide, published a new report showing Bud Light's "fall from No. 1 was swift following the marketing controversy that spurred a nationwide boycott."
"Sales of what was once America's best-selling beer dropped 2.6 points from 11.3 percent dollar sales share to 8.73 percent at Union's network of thousands of high-volume venues in the first week of the boycott alone," the report said.
Miller Lite, Michelob Ultra, and Coors Light are now the top three selling beers on Union's POS machines. AB InBev owns not just Bud Light but also Michelob Ultra, which many beer drinkers probably don't realize of the parent company's extensive beer portfolio.
The chart linked there shows that Bud Light dropped everywhere, from the Carolinas and Texas to California, New York/new Jersey, and Oregon/Washington. The market share dropped whether the region leans left or right.
How long before a straight guy can take a case of bud lite to deer camp without being teased about it? Months? Years? Never?
What happens in deer camp stays in deer camp.
Kudos
Never.
It's over.
Forget the political angle, the idea of marketing cheap beer, mostly consumed by dudebros in a market woth a plethora of fairly identical alternatives, with a flamboyant tranny who identifies as a little girl was one of the most predictably stupid decisions ever made.
A flamboyant, attention seeking little narcissist.
How long before AB InBev's breweries are forced to produce the same low level swill for cost advantages?
In my life I've never seen anything like what is currently going on with Anheuser-Busch and Disney. I've seen brands and companies make really bad decisions plenty of times. but in the past they would usually at least try to correct them. These brands on the other hand appear to be determined to wage war against their customers even if it destroys their company entirely.
It defies every single bit of logic and basic common sense regarding business and making money. Take a look at what has happened to Disney's stock value over the last two years and change. It's absolutely insane.
Yeah. The Disney one is particularly jarring.... They were "wholesome family entertainment" and then they leaned hard into "destroy the patriarchy" with every film needing an LGBTQ character and every existing male hero needing a deconstruction takedown.
It isn't like this was a brief mistake... This has been going on full force since at least 2017. And the reaction has been uniformly negative. Yet we still got "She Hulk" this year.
Disney is hoping for Democracy 3.0, when movies produced by government-approved companies will be required viewing.
It is jarring enough to make you wonder if this isn't already the case....
They destroyed Star Wars, a huge cash cow, on purpose. They emasculated and humiliated the main character of the Star award universe... And in a way that did nothing to further the story. They pulled a total Bud Lite.
Then they wrecked the MCU, after a triumphant decade with the End Game saga... They emasculated and deconstructed and replaced every hero.
Not content with that, they wrecked Pixar, the most reliable production house in all of cinema for a quarter century.
Three multi-million dollar properties in tatters.
Yet the management team responsible remains intact. Worse, they proudly boast of their "girl power" objectives and in a similar move to Bud Lite, they blame the customer for having backwards views.
I think what it boils down to is that despite all the talk about market studies and ratings ultimately marketing types and producers just take their own opinions and run with them.
The fact is that the current team behind these brands have retarded opinions and are such narcissists that they are incapable of changing course.
To be honest, the writing is on the wall already for them. They can't forever satisfy the Chinese market that pays their bills along with the woke left. There are already instances of two different versions of films being released in both markets, and at some point they're going to cross a point where it's not viable to do both.
Yeah, but that doesn't explain how Kathleen Kennedy still has a job. They had 3 huge tentpole brands that guaranteed huge returns on every project.... all have turned off their hardcore fans. She personally was involved in the "you only didn't go because you are racist/sexist/homophobic" deflections - the direct equivalent of the Anheiser-Bush brand manager talking about Bud Lite's frat-boy customer base.
Yet she still helms the whole thing. It is insane.
She still has a job because the people she works for agree with her, plain and simple. Ultimately, they have enough money that it really isn't a big deal for them...yet.
Also, in fairness, it might never be an issue for Disney since she has made them a ton of money in the past. It might be more accurate to say they made money in spite of her, but this is likely the Peter Principle in action.
You talking about Stacey Abrams......"she hulk"
Nothing makes me happier than to see Disney crash and burn.
Pence may have hired Alissa Heinerscheid to run his campaign.
The Marxists should be happy. It is about time that other beer companies get their fair share of the market. InBev should really be forced to break into little pieces - because they are close enough to a monopoly. The FTC should block any further beverage mergers with InBev. Etc.
"Once You Start Censoring, You're On Your Way To Dystopia And Totalitarianism"
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/once-you-start-censoring-youre-your-way-dystopia-and-totalitarianism-rfk-jr-wrecks-house
In a hearing marred by contentious interruptions and attempts by House Democrats to remove him as a witness, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., CHD chairman on leave from Children’s Health Defense (CHD) testified before a U.S. House hearing organized by Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.
The subcommittee, operating within the House Judiciary Committee, said today’s hearing was intended to “examine the federal government’s role in censoring Americans,” “Big Tech’s collusion with out-of-control government agencies to silence speech” and the ongoing Missouri v. Biden lawsuit alleging government censorship.
Government censorship and alleged First Amendment violations on the part of the federal government featured prominently in today’s hearing. “We need to be able to talk,” Kennedy told the committee. “And, the First Amendment was not written for easy speech. It was written for the speech that nobody likes you for.”
Efforts by Democrats to prevent Kennedy from testifying began earlier this week. On Monday, Reps. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and Judy Chu (D-Calif.) sent a letter signed by 102 House Democrats to House Republican leadership, requesting they “rescind Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s invitation to testify.”
Kennedy, in response to the accusations levied against him, set aside his prepared testimony for the hearing. Referencing the letter, he told the committee, “The 102 people that signed this [is] itself evidence of the problem that this hearing was convened to address. This is an attempt to censor a censorship hearing.”
Rep. Thomas Massey (R-Ky.), in an impromptu interview after the hearing, said: “The irony and cognitive dissonance from the other side of the aisle, it’s deafening. You could cut it with a knife. They are at the same time denying that censorship is occurring, but suggesting that there’s more material that needs to be censored.”
Kennedy said that his Instagram account had been banned despite containing “no misinformation,” but only content that “was cited and sourced,” including from “peer-reviewed publications or government databases.” Yet, he was “removed something called ‘malinformation.’”
He defined “malinformation” as “information that is true but is inconvenient to the government that they don’t want people to hear.”
The ongoing Missouri v. Biden lawsuit was also a prominent part of today’s hearing. In his testimony, Sauer referred to the July 4 decision of a federal court issuing a temporary injunction against several federal agencies and members of the Biden administration, limiting their interaction with social media platforms.
While that decision repeatedly came under attack by Democrat members of the subcommittee, Sauer said the July 4 opinion granting the temporary injunction “contains 82 pages of detailed factual findings, supported by 577 citations of the evidence, which is drawn from roughly 20,000 pages of the federal government’s own emails and communications with social media platforms, and six full-length depositions.”
Kennedy, who along with CHD is party to several lawsuits challenging alleged government, Big Tech and media censorship, told the subcommittee: “If a government can censor its critics, that’s a license for every atrocity. It is the beginning of totalitarianism. “
“Once you start censoring, you’re on your way to dystopia and totalitarianism.”
“Once you start censoring, you’re on your way to dystopia and totalitarianism.”

This from a guy who wanted to jail 'climate deniers.'
Your libel is not even close. Unedited version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbKAxmNI2h0 He doesn't even use the phrase 'climate deniers'.
So he wanted to put the Koch brothers in jail for making money off fossil fuels and 'poisoning the environment.' The whole video doesn't make him look less like an anticapitalist eco authoritarian then my simplification. But the salient point is he wants to jail people he disagrees with. So lets edit that to: This from a guy who wanted to jail the Koch brothers for doing business with oil companies because of climate change.
Sort of but not exactly.
The U.S. Senate had launched an investigation into Koch Industries for stealing oil from leases on Indian reservations. Koch Industries was the biggest purchaser of crude oil in the country, and Senate investigators believed that the company was stealing from reservations by misreporting how much oil it picked up from their wells.
The allegations were resting on documentation that Charles ordered “be destroyed by shredding, burning, or some equally effective method.”
Charles was "making money" all right, but not exactly legally.
I don't think that is what he was talking about in that video unless there is more.
I've never trusted the Koch brothers, or even their claims of libertarianism.
but what about a private company just acting out of their own self interest after hiring tons of USINT officials now holding some closed door consultations with existing USINT officialdom.
That's not "censorship" right?
The lists from Taibbi and crew of Intel and LEO personnel moving into tech companies is astonishing. These are massive numbers.
It looks like the pentagon revolving door of lobbyists... Except they are on the payroll inside the companies as executives. Dozens and dozens of them in every company.
Defense has big contracts to protect and obtain.
What is the incentive for big tech??
"nice company you got there. it would be a real shame if something were to happen to it. Here's a bunch of my friends who needs jobs, perhaps your 'Trust and Safety' team is hiring?"
It's ideological alignment in the quest for totalitarian power, not threats, that lead to the tech+IC incest
The democrat should feel nothing but shame for trying that tactic but of course they're incapable of shame.

Just to point out, “Hollywood communist” is redundant.
You are free to make the point about Neiman Marxists.
Good for New York agreeing to pay those mostly peaceful protesters a sum of money sufficient for them to fly back home to Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco plus enough to reimburse George Soros for what he laid out in travel expenses.
Your daily reminder that the people who are saying 20% of kids are trans and need surgery that will render them sterile are also the people who want fewer humans on Earth to save us from "climate change"
Has anyone actually made the claim that 20% of people are trans? Because that makes it look way less normal to be gay than it is to be legit crazy.
The same people say everyone is gay.

Why is "Try That In A Small Town" so controversial?
https://nypost.com/2023/07/20/why-is-jason-aldeans-try-that-in-a-small-town-so-much-more-controversial-than-the-average-hip-hop-track/
There’s a lopsided expectation of behavior in music and film, depending on who the protagonist is.
This selective overreaction to artistry is no more apparent than in the reaction to country star Jason Aldean’s song and music video “Try That in a Small Town,” as he depicts chaotic scenes of lawlessness in American cities to hammer home the point that this behavior wouldn’t be tolerated in a small town.
The left-wing outrage mob wants to convince you its motivation is to curb violent rhetoric wherever it stands, including in musical form, or else it will encourage real violence in our society.
But if that’s true, why are they so muted when it comes to hip-hop music?
But my question is: Why this song?
Well, it’s political and class-driven.
The coastal city-dwelling elitists in the media don’t like it when an unfavorable mirror is held up to their environment, especially by someone who embodies the “backward-thinking” nuisance coming from fly-over country.
They have no interest in seeing their own world from the outside, and they’ll be damned if the poors in rural America think they’re more moral than thou.
Because it is a popular song showing liberal violence. The cancel project only started after the video started airing. It was on radio for almost 2 months without an issue.
A video showing the exact same footage to Fuck Tha Police would win awards.
Wouldn't you be unhappy if a mean person kicked your pet? Liberal elites like to indulge their POCs.
Because they're offended that anyone might resist their terrorism.
"Sound of Freedom is pushing a conspiracy theory" says people who live in a world where none of Epstein's clients will face any accountability whatsoever.
One particularly surprising turn for me... Maggie McNeil is all-in on condemning this movie because it talks about trafficking.
I don't get that one at all. She has spent years decrying conflating "trafficking" with consensual sex work.... And now we have a film about actual trafficking of children and she conflates that with consensual sex work.
This is a very confusing time to live.
it makes perfect sense if you think about it in terms of teams.
When the wrong icky people are conflating sex trafficking with good old fashioned whoring, they must be lectured and corrected in a smug manner.
When the wrong icky people are laser focused on sex trafficking of children, they must be opposed because they are the wrong icky people.
Got it?
Not from her... No. I have followed her work because it is usually so informed by her experience that it cuts through partisan bullshit.
This one has me flummoxed.
Money or threats then, if appeals on behalf of the team don't work.
Nah... She is too small for anything like that. She was retweeting Merlan for crying out loud.
Sometimes people just surprise you.
On order to support open and unregulated prostitution you have to pretend there is no violence or coercion of prostitutes. Admitting that women are trafficked into prostitution means there has to be some type of regulation, which the pro legal prostitution community doesn't want.
I saw it, and that would make sense, except for all of the actual video of the actual events depicted in the movies that was included in the movie

Mike Pence is running as a "beyond parody" regime GOP candidate literally saying the lives of normal Americans are "not my concern" and then doing nothing but talking about how much he loves Israel for the next week. It's pretty funny.

And in the impossibly unlikely event he does get the nomination, we’ll hear all about how much of a Hitler he is anyway.

Hey Matt, ENB, Jake, etc al….
Here is an article I would be interested in reading.
You all have been conspicuously uninterested in some very huge stories about corruption in Washington.
We just heard that the FBI has long had enough proof to convict anyone, even the Vice President of taking bribes. Not only did they have what we all knew.. but they had Burisma talking about how Biden would protect them and how they paid for that directly.
So…. Explain the lack of interest.
Matt… I have seen you turn red in the face and have spit flying from your lips over Trump calling a reporter from CNN “fake news”.
Yet, forget a lack of passion… There isn’t even a passing interest in the president of the United States being on the take?
Bonus… Remember how we libertarians generally oppose wars of convenience and proxy wars? Well…. Here we are sending hundreds of billions in military equipment to Ukraine, the very country that was involved in the bribery.
Remember how you all thought Trump was going to start world war III by not attacking Iran? Or by attacking an Iranian officer? Remember how not fighting Russia in Syria over the Kurds was going to be WWIIi? Or maybe fighting Russia in Syria was going to be WWIII… It changed from day to day.
There was a lot of apocalyptic language coming from you guys as Trump didn’t get us into wars. So? Where is the concern over actually being on the take and getting us into an actual shooting war with Russia?
It isnt often you have the criminal on tape bragging to the media about committing a crime yet we have Biden bragging about firing a prosecutor his sons employer hired him to do.
When that was "all" we had, failing to get agitated about it was inexcusable. It was 100% proof of a bribery scheme.
But now? Now we know that he got paid $5 million directly, that they explicitly said it was for getting the prosecutor fired, that the Ukrainian government also said Biden was the reason he was fired (the prosecutor himself had said so publicly at the time).
What other information could you possibly need?
Beyond that... The DOJ sat on this at the time... Then they kept sitting on it even as they participated in the impeachment of Trump for asking about it. How is that not direct proof of capital T treason?
If you were in the DOJ and you had that proof that Biden was on the take and you participated in collecting information to show that Trump *asked* the Ukrainian president of he knew anything about it and you kept it secret... Exactly how is that any different than participating in a coup? Trying to remove the president from office under false pretenses is somehow magically different because you used the Congress?
It's definitely a coup attempt.
That's something I want to know as well.
The answer is simple. In short, Chris Rufo is right.
The comprehensive takeover of every institution is nearly complete and now they have even hollowed out Reason and are wearing it like a skinsuit.

"Top-notch reporting by the student newspaper at Stanford University has led to the resignation of the university’s president.
Stanford University president Marc Tessier-Lavigne is stepping down after an independent review found significant flaws and uncorrected mistakes in studies he supervised going back decades. In addition, he will retract or add corrections to five papers in which he was the main author because the investigation found “manipulation of research data.”..."

The ditzy diversity dipshit is leaving too. No great loss. Her juice was not worth the squeeze, I guess.
I hear if you squeeze people the right way, juice will come out.
+1 Violet Bouregard
Violet Beauregarde: [digging her nostril] Spitting's a dirty habit.
Willy Wonka: I know a worse one.
Ironic observation in light of the above conversation about Disney….
They are doing a Wonka origin story. From the trailer it looks like the story is that Wonka was talked into becoming a chocolatier by a diverse young girl who mentors him through the process.
One wonders if the diverse and lacking-in-agency version of Willy will retain his edge.
Since it won't be played by Gene, we can safely so 'no' to that question. There is no way to purposefully create the magic of the original since it was a total accident it was successful in the first place.
True story: I’m 6’3” and my wife is a hair’s width above 5’. One year we went to a Halloween party dressed up as Willy Wonka and an Umpa-Lumpa.
RE the lead photo: what kind of beverage was in the carton that the earnest activist used to make her sign?
La Croix water. It's a flavored seltzer water that comes in cans or plastic bottles.
What racial justice protests you marxist cunt? Di you mean the violent racial riots by leftists like you? Do you mean the riots over a false narrative about a junkie that OD'd? Fuck off with those lies you Pravda whore.
Anyone still considering the DNC to be a democratic and fact-based party should observe how these two Representatives justify the restriction of freedom of speech.
"No right given to the people of the United States is absolute, and that includes the right of free speech." - Rep Linda Sanchez
"Protective measures were taken to take down disinformation about vaccines, about the nature of the virus, and about protective measures we could take, including masks." - Gerry Connolly
It’s increasingly apparent that many Democrats are post-truth and anti-democratic. Politicians claiming that men can be women, Covid gene therapies were safe and effective, and masks limited the spread of this alleged dangerous virus, are better suited to an asylum than the House of Representatives.
Lina Khan, a true enemy of the people.
Factio Democratica delenda est. At this point, with all the sins they've committed, I think nothing less can be done.
Except instead of salting the earth, we should use them as fertilizer so they can finally be useful.
No right given to the people of the United States …
We weren’t “given” rights, these are rights that were always there.

The constitution does not 'grant' rights, it limits government's powers to interfere with our rights.
In other words, terminate the Constitution?
Meh?

“No right given to the people of the United States is absolute, and that includes the right of free speech.” – Rep Linda Sanchez
The right to free speech was not given to the People. Any politician stating such a false claim should be censured and barred from public office until they can demonstrate a proper understanding of how rights are derived.
Exactly. None of those rights were granted by government to the people, they exist to protect the people from government and were granted by their creator. Rep. Sanchez should resign immediately.
Linda Sanchez obviously has no issues overturing Oberfell then.
Linda Sanchez has no business being anywhere near any position in the government.
Is this the same New York that 'can't afford' to house a few hundred 'immigrants' sent up from Florida?
I thought New York City has been housing immigrants, in upstate New York -- and there has been controversy about their doing so.
Why? Everyone loves New York style pizza.
Some might go so far as to call that cheese and sauce on wet cardboard, but I digress.
Not the EPA.
New York City has reached another record-setting settlement with people arrested in summer 2020 racial justice protests.
Anything for the people arrested for violating illegal covid restrictions?
The racial justice protests where they looted stores and burned businesses, cop cars and even set fire to CNN. How many people were assaulted by theses racial justice warriors? This is b.s. but then, N.Y. City is circling the drain, not as fast as Frisco but it’s circling the drain nonetheless.
All of it over the death of a habitual criminal, drug addict and pornographer. who by the way died from fentanyl poisoning not because of the way a cop held him in place.
Twitter subpoenas Elizabeth Warren's communications with federal agencies.
It's racist of Twitter to try to subpoena smoke signals.
Inflation is ever-so-gently starting to fall and bringing mortgage interest rates along with it.
Time to fire up the money press.
Connecticut state troopers wrote tens of thousands of fake traffic tickets.
One way to fill a quota, I guess.
Daniel W. Drezner waxes "poetic about the opulent pleasures of the North American supermarket."
1989 Boris Yeltsin called...
(Let's see if it's referenced in the piece.)
Inflation is ever-so-gently starting to fall and bringing mortgage interest rates along with it.
If mortgage rates are falling, then it is time for the fed to jack rates back up again. Housing has been in a series of bubbles for decades now.
Inflation will only be broken when everything about those bubbles is broken. The economy has got to get productive again. And the only way that is going to happen is with a few YEARS of growth that isn’t debt-fueled. Which for housing means no more net mortgage debt.
If the first amendment is her protest permit (and it is), the second amendment is my gun permit. But see how fast using that argument gets you in prison.
You mean the same "activists" who looted shops and stores, then set them on fire? The same activists who cry about "rayciss cops" who shoot black criminals in self defense, yet totally ignore the fact that it is young black males who are responsible for the homicides of other young black males.
The same activist group that rioted in D.C. only a few months before the Jan. protests, who looted stores, set fires and even burned a nearby church down.
The same activist group along with ANTIFA who are responsible for nearly $2 billion in damage to property including government property, police cars and businesses. The same activist group responsible for the looting, destruction, arson, mayhem and murder in cities across America, yet very, very few have even been arrested.
Meanwhile people who peacefully protested a crooked and fraudulent election that put a senile old man in the White House are rotting away in prison without a lawyer, family and even medical care.
Welcome to Gulag America.
I love pork and pork products.
What about bumble bee tuna?
The filets are very small.
