Was the Final Presidential Debate Incomprehensible to Normies?
Plus: New research on sanctuary policies, the Stop Suppressing Speech Act, and more...

After that disastrous first presidential debate in September, Donald Trump and Joe Biden managed to pull it together for round two. A lot of the words out of President Trump's mouth last night were still incomprehensible or untrue, but he generally managed to wait his turn to say them and do so in his soft voice. Biden also kept his cool, as Trump repeatedly accused the Democratic presidential nominee and his son Hunter of being involved in shady foreign business dealings.
Trump wound snippets of this theory—which originates with Rudy Giuliani and was published by the New York Post—throughout what was otherwise a fairly subdued and substantive second debate.
If you closely follow election news and online media/tech controversies, much of what Trump said on stage last night may have been familiar, or at least not inscrutable. But less extremely plugged-in voters can't have known what to make of Trump's scattered insinuations and accusations about the Biden family. Trump careened wildly between random pieces of his Biden conspiracy theory, wielding references to laptops, nicknames, and Anthony Bobulinski like weapons without ever explaining fundamentally what he was talking about.
(If you're curious about Bobulinski, who was Trump's guest at the debate last night, check out this Wall Street Journal article, which found "no role for Joe Biden" in a Chinese oil venture that Bobulinski was trying to set up with Hunter Biden and several other partners in 2017.)
Trump—accustomed to slagging Biden in front of his online fan club, at adoring campaign rallies, and to Fox News sycophants—treated the general audience for last night's debate as if they, too, obviously kept up with the same preoccupations as right-wing Twitter. It was a symptom of a malady Jane Coaston diagnosed in detail yesterday: "Trump's presidential campaign is too online":
To be Extremely Online is not simply to be literally connected to the internet (as you likely are at this very moment), but to be deeply enmeshed in a world of internet culture, reshaped by internet culture, and, most importantly, to believe that the world of internet culture matters deeply offline.
Being Extremely Online is both a reformation of the delivery of ideas—shared through words and videos and memes and GIFs and copypasta—and the ideas themselves, a world in which Twitter effectiveness counts as political effectiveness despite Twitter's comparatively small audience.
The importance of those ideas is then judged not by their real-world impact but on their corresponding popularity or infamy in the world of Online. A trending topic on Twitter becomes a critical locus of entirely online discussion, a Facebook post becomes an infamous online reference for months to come, an entire infrastructure can arise to foment the celebrity of a person you would have never heard of had you not baked in the furnace of being Extremely Online.
It's also clearly a reaction to Democrats focusing for years on alleged Trump ties to Russia and Ukraine, as well as what seems like an attempt to make this Biden Crime Family business play the role that Hillary Clinton's private email server did in 2016.
Trump's insinuations last night may have been convoluted and without merit, but they were able to draw Biden into back-and-forth accusations about who was the real foreign stooge—exchanges that gave Trump another chance to claim that Democrats are still obsessed with Russia.
The question is: Does anyone outside the ranks of either party's most rabid bases really care? "Foreign meddling" news fatigue set in long ago.
It's hard to believe either candidate benefited from these exchanges. Americans say they hate mudslinging, especially when it's removed from everyday issues. If you don't know anything more than what you're seeing on stage last night, you probably thought this was, at best, politics as usual—at worse, a sign that the whole system is corrupt and neither candidate is worth backing.
The most contentious moments of last night's debate came over immigration, with Trump knocking Biden for horrible policies that the Obama/Biden administration started—and that Trump continued and expanded.
Who built the cages is Trump's rejoinder? If he had torn them down it would be one thing. But he filled them!
— shikha sood dalmia (@shikhadalmia) October 23, 2020
Trump's question "Who built the cages?" ignores that his administration deliberately undertook a policy that predictably expanded the practice a lot—and some admin figures said that expansion was part of the point.

Asked about the 545 migrant children who were separated from their parents on Trump's orders and whose parents now can't be found, Trump said they were being well taken care of.
Just in case anyone is following me who's writing a fact check on this, most of the 545 kids whose parents still haven't been contacted have been released to sponsors (generally relatives) in the US. So Trump's "well taken care of" is total BS, but not for the reason you assume.

Idaho college sportsball team? What does that have to do with anything?
Arizona pro hockey team.
Like the Jamaican bobsled team but less charismatic. And worse at their job. And existing primarily for the purpose of transferring the money of Arizona residents to the team owner.
The League was actually the owner for about 3 years. So no owner to syphon funds at that time. Think a group finally bought them.
Yup, and they're pitching a fit about how the city won't build them a new arena. The speculation is they'll get moved to Houston at some point, possibly when the Seattle franchise starts up so they can re-jigger the divisions.

@davidhogg111
Imagine calling the immigrant parents that bring their children to the United States for a better life “Coyotes”
The level of xenophobia is sickening.
The sperging out over the "coyote" term is wild.
1) These people either have such short-term memories that they literally can't remember anything past what they heard on NPR or the Democrat-dick gargling MSM two weeks ago, or
2) They're just playing dumb to try and gin up fake outrage, because anyone who's aware of how the illegal immigration pipeline works knows what a coyote is.
Or they are idiots whose depe thoughts on immigration stops at "let the poor people in, it it the only humane thing to do."
I think driving down the costs of housekeeping and nannies is a bigger drive for the overclass than misplaced charity.
Not to mention not having to pay $75 for a family of four to eat at McDonalds.
The irony is that the service class wouldn't have been able to gain any traction on minimum wage increases if the right-wing and neolib overclass hadn't gone full-bore on shifting the economy to a service-and import-dependent economy in the 1980s and 90s. Now that so many jobs are tied in to the service industry, the agitation for increase wages there was inevitable.
Let's also note that many union jobs have contracts where compensation is defined as some amount in addition to whatever the minimum wage is. So your, e.g., firefighter, carpenter, or cop may not be making minimum wage, but damned sure their pay depends upon it.
I think the minimum wage should be $25/hour. It's the most humane and economic wage, and has nothing to do with my job in developing automation equipment.
$25 just because? It sounds right, feels right, what? Where do you get such a ridiculous number?
$15 was already laughable, but naturally your complete lack of financial literacy shows how silly you are. $25? [eyes rolling out the back of my head]
What a fucking clown. Go start a business, clown, and then tell us all about it.
“my job in developing automation equipment.”
This is the tell. Think harder.
I definitely got duped. kUckland has done this to me before. Apparently his satire really pushed my buttons.
If it makes you feel better, some progressives are already saying $15/hr isn't enough and it needs to be at least $25/hr.
Sorry auspicious, however I still like when people confuse me. It means I've done my job
I was thinking of hiring a nanny. A hot young one.
Do I need to pay her as much if there are no children to watch?
It's the second one. Know how I know? Because every single one of these people pretending to have never heard the word "coyote" before had no trouble spelling the word correctly. They know damn well what a coyote is.
"Because every single one of these people pretending to have never heard the word “coyote” before had no trouble spelling the word correctly. "
Maybe some of them were old enough to be early Chili Peppers fans?
behind the sun.
I don't disagree, for the most part. That GA state rep who kicked off the whole thing, though? She's in the same area that Cynthia McKinney represented while in Congress, so I can certainly believe she's actually too stupid and ignorant that she would take the term "coyote" literally.
He shows the increasing vapidity of Harvard Admissions, every time he opens his mouth. Such a disgusting little ghoul, though ghouls are appropriate around Halloween, I guess.
> though ghouls are appropriate around Halloween, I guess.
Heh. 😀
a future Senator, no doubt
I'm going to guess that Hogg tweet was an attempt at a pivot from all the blue check twitterati getting dunked on for not knowing the term and trying to dunk on Trump using it in context.
Heh. Coyotes are people smugglers. Its an old, old term. These people want to 'get involved' and jump right in without any familiarity or knowledge of what's been happening on the ground - and it shows.
While I'm pro-immigration, I like to think, having grown up out here, that I'm familiar with the tradeoffs. Firstly, that I acknowledge there are tradeoffs. With most of these people though I can only wonder if they even know any Mexicans or if its just more Twitter-posturing so they can feel good about themselves.
Its like listening to people who 'want a conversation on gun ownership' - look guys, go learn some basic information about firearms before you come to me demanding I give in to your latest 'policy proposal' on banning ghost guns that shoot 30 clip magazines in one second and the thing that goes up.
Doesn't a conversation imply that they'll try listening to what you say?
Though, "We need to have you listen to me about guns," doesn't sound as appealing. The smug sureness with which they express their views is but the rancid cherry atop the shit sundae.
It's like how they use the word compromise. Compromise means you're willing to give up something to get something. It seems unclear what gun grabbers are willing to give up, they seem to think "well we could ask for more, but we aren't (for now) ergo we are compromising and you don't get shit except us not asking for more (for now)".
Obama was the master at this on almost everything. He would cry that the Republicans wouldn't compromise but he never spelled out what he was willing to give up except stating he was asking for less than he wanted (for now).
+1 "getting my cake back."

But less extremely plugged-in voters can't have known what to make of Trump's scattered insinuations and accusations about the Biden family.
I wonder if that could possibly have anything to do with all of the notional public forums suppressing the story as hard as they possibly can.
Nah, unpossible! There's no way that a bunch of folks who said they'd never let 2016 happen again would use their nigh monopoly to hide things that might make their favored candidate look bad.
The dumb bitch and this rag refuses to cover the story, along with all of corporate media and social media, then criticizes Trump for bringing it up to try to get people to look into it.
Is she claiming that he could have explained the whole story in a 2 minute response about some other topic? Seriously, what a contemptible bitch.
CoyoteGate is out of control. Are democrats really this dumb?

I suppose that "both" is always possible.
When asking if they are stupid or dishonest, the answer is always 'yes'.

Nice try at ratfucking though. You liars haven't lost a thing.

Don't you have some kid to diddle?
You really think Buttplug would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?
I look forward to collecting unreason tears when Trump gets reelected.
Lol. For idiots it bombed. But please keep saying how you care about corruption. Biden flat lied about his family never receiving foreign money.
From today's WSJ:
"In the correspondence provided by Mr. Bobulinski, an email he received from Mr. Gilliar in May 2017 proposed a possible equity arrangement for the five partners. The email references “10 held by H for the big guy?” Mr. Bobulinski said the “H” referred to Hunter Biden and the “big guy” was Joe Biden. Mr. Gilliar didn’t respond to a request for comment, nor did the other partner in the venture, Mr. Walker."
Oh, Jesus Christ, you're actually quoting that right-wing conspiracy rag the Wall Street Journal? Everybody knows the Wall Street Journal is less reputable than the National Enquirer. The fact that they're even mentioning this story ought to have tipped you off to what kind of garbage they'll print.
*snerk!*
http://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/blockbuster-report-reveals-how-biden-family-was-compromised-china
"... the only weakness is that we do not have internal emails between Chinese players or the Chinese and Bidens that would make explicit what the links clearly imply."
"He met regularly with Joe Biden during his stint as Chinese ambassador the US when Biden chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee."
"Whether Joe Biden personally knew the details, a very untenable position, it is simply political malpractice to not be aware of the details of these financial arrangements. These documentable financial links simply cannot be wished away."
It's all shady as hell, but what is lacking is the smoking gun to nail Joe Biden with.
Yet Rittenhouse definitely committed murder as you stated the Monday after it happened.
Keeping lying about what I said. It's what you do.
Oh, so you didn't say something about how the kid through his life away in jail.

I guess WK called a lid.
Nah, Jesse cited his source which has caused WK to orgasm uncontrollably for the last couple hours.
Lol, you cited your source.
Everything you just re-posted backs up my version of the story.
No it doesn’t Dee.
Lol. God you're a moron.
If you pardon the strained analogy. We might not have a smoking gun, but we have the smoke, the powder flash, the cartridge casing, and the bullet.
As some point, the preponderance of the evidence becomes so clear that it goes beyond a reasonable doubt. Between the Biden family getting rich despite Hunter's ludicrous behavior. The fact that H.Biden was travelling on Air Force 2 on business trips to China. There are numerous discussions about him. Not to mention that Joe himself earned what, $16 million in 2017?
When there is sufficient amounts of smoke, there has to be fire. Just like you can convict a murderer without the gun or even the body, we can decide that Biden is corrupt without a video recording of him talking like some comic book villain.
I don't disagree that Biden may well be corrupt. I'm saying that the case isn't anywhere near as solid as JesseAz and other pro-Trump partisans think it is.
There is more than enough to nail Joe Biden. You do not need a smoking gun or confession.
You at least need some evidence he received some money.
It’s coming, my theory is they held onto this information assuming he would get elected with someone like Harris as his VP. Once he is in they would begin leaking the laptop information until he is forced to resign and Harris can assume the presidency. I don’t think they realized Rudy had a copy and would begin the leaking early.
Yes, but you don't believe any evidence when it contradicts your preferred narrative. This has been established over months.
Would you agree there's at least as much there as any of the Trump corruption stories we've had over the last few years and that we've suddenly developed a new standard about how much proof is required before reporting something?
About the same evidence that both major party candidates are corrupt.
Y'all, back off. When someone's having a discussion, you treat them respectfully.
WK. My issue isn't doubt. I am just fine with people doubting it. The laptop's origin is so absurd a situation that I am inclined to believe it's a cover story for outright theft. I also recall the Heartland incident where their financials were stolen by Peter Gleick and a comic-book-villain rant about stopping teachers from teaching science was attached.
My issue is how many people and institutions are dismissing this. Even without the laptop, I would put the balance of evidence on Biden being corrupt. Furthermore, unlike most stories, this is fully documented. It's not an anonymous source giving NYT Trump's taxes. It's not a single source reporting a rumor that Russia was paying bounties on our troops. We have the original text. We have a full trail of evidence to view. Yet, it's being dismissed without consideration. It's an attempt at a coverup by simply telling people that they cannot look at the man behind the curtain.
“Y’all, back off. When someone’s having a discussion, you treat them respectfully.”
When someone’s treating me disrespectfully by insulting my intelligence with bullshit, I treat them accordingly. And that’s the essence of white knight, even before I take into account that she stole my handle to teach a lesson about civility.
Next time you tell me how to behave, I might see it earlier and treat you accordingly too.
You keep digging stupid holes. You can't help it.

Then today the Wall St Journal cleared Biden on it.
No such thing happened.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/hunter-bidens-ex-business-partner-alleges-father-knew-about-venture-11603421247
This directly contradicts the preceding paragraph:
Bobulinski was the lead partner at 50% and the CEO. He's in a better position to know.
Right- ENB says "The WSJ article found that there was no involvement from Joe." In fact, the article found that ONE GUY said there was no involvement, and another guy says different.
But less extremely plugged-in voters can't have known what to make of Trump's scattered insinuations and accusations about the Biden family.
I don't think they're allowed to know.
The main saving grace in all this is that "normies" don't get all of their news from Twitter like journalists do. So we're still finding out about Biden because Twitter's suppression campaign only really succeeds in making their echo chamber more echo-y.
The Wall Street Journal's newsroom is pulling the string on it now that the partner's disclosing what he knows. It's a copycat world so I'd be shocked if the other prestige organs didn't start following suit.
And yet I hear arguments all the time that the government must step in and force Twitter to be fair in all its policies, even though Twitter has much less control or influence in the real world than people who advocate for it to be controlled think it does.
Not here you don't. You hear people say they should receive liability protections if they practice censorship on ideology. But you're dishonest, so who cares.
So, you want to repeal Section 230's liability protections, that apply uniformly to all websites that post user-provided content?
I don't think someone should be granted a government benefit if they perform censorship, especially on ideology. It should be limited to criminal content if they want protections.
Or the protections should extend to all industry, not favored.
But I'm weird in wanted equal protections for things.
The Section 230 protections for liability for user-supplied content apply the same to everyone from the hugest social media website to the smallest.
No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.
Not every business is an interactive computer retard.
You are really really dumb.
A perfect example of how WK likes to the twist things a bit. Everyone's been saying get rid of the special government protections in 230, but WK pretends they were advocating controlling the company's themselves.
Mind you, Boehm and ENB pull the same trick.
Agreed. They sound more insane than the Net Neutrality freaks did at this point.
When did this become "special government protections"?
This is just a clarification of pretty well understood concepts. If you are in a restaurant and someone plans a murder, you as the restaurant aren't guilty of conspiracy (unless somehow you knowingly participated). That same restaurant is allowed to refuse service for any reason.
And ANYONE gets this protection. If you are Target, and you have a community forum on your site, you have the same 230 protections. If you are a newspaper and you have comments or a forum, those are also protected by 230. This isn't a special carve out for an industry. If you setup a forum for discussing hunting, you have the same rights to moderate out the trolls and still not be liable for 3rd party content.
That same restaurant is allowed to refuse service for any reason.
That's not true.
That same restaurant is allowed to refuse service for any reason

P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
Agreed...Joe Biden is corrupt AF. He is as corrupt as the day is long.
If I were one for wild theories and speculations, I would wildly speculate that Bobulinski has some idea of what else is on that laptop, and is trying to get in front of this and get on the public record before he becomes the fall guy.
I haven't read all the stories, but I heard he was turning over text messages to the FBI. If that's correct, the fact that he retained two year old texts messages means he was aware of- and probably in on- the shady business, and he kept them as insurance to keep his own ass out of jail, because that's what shady motherfuckers do. And you don't go into business with Hunter Biden unless you are a shady motherfucker.
Either that or it's already being investigated, they got Bobulinski from the laptop, and his cooperation is part of a deal to stay out of jail. If he has old text messages, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he had a lot more information that's he's more than willing to barf up to save his own ass.
Speaking of, I heard that Bobulinski has committed suicide in the next week.
I don't think Hillary cares that much about Joe. Though if she or hers were getting a taste, Bobulinksi should probably hire some very good personal security.
If the FBI has them have they've gone through the virtual shredder.
This.
I think a lot of Americans don't want to acknowledge how mindbogglingly politically corrupt the FBI is. And the DOJ, CIA, IRS, DoD, etc. The Marxist long march through your own institutions is complete.
"If I were one for wild theories and speculations . . .
It is perfectly acceptable to speculate--when the subject of this won't even address the matter--two weeks before the election.
If Joe Biden wants us to stop speculating, he should address the emails. Does he deny their authenticity?
Far as I know, he hasn't said a word or made a statement about them. That's totally unacceptable.
If he won't deny being a crook two weeks before an election, then it's perfectly reasonable to assume he's a crook.
Why haven't any reporters asked him about it?
Are you a crook, Mr. Biden? Do you deny the authenticity of the emails? Do you deny that Hunter Biden was holding money for you?
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
That, or he's pissed the Bidens cut him out of at least $5 mil
That was my thought listening to him.
If they (meaning authorities) already had Bobulinski, he wouldn't be out in front of the press. He would be compelled to keep his mouth shut during the investigation.
But you are right that his sudden "Concern" smacks of "Rat deserting sinking ship" behavior. Very likely it was Giuliani who got to him. He is a former AG, and shady AF himself. He knows incriminating evidence when he sees it, and probably sat down with ol' Bob to discuss options.
Interestingly, Bob better hope that this works, because if Biden gets into office, the Feds will HAVE to burn him to repudiate the stuff he is saying now.
I still don't understand what happened to Giuliani. He went from being American's Mayor and a strong presidential candidate to being a reality TV star's political hit man.
Disingenuous much? Only thing that matters is does Rudy have the receipts.
It's not disingenuous. He has become a sleaze man. I still hope he takes Biden out, but I really would not let that man stay at my house unsupervised.
Prostate cancer.
Though New York could certainly use his services now. I'm glad he got his talented hands on the laptop.
How is retaining 2 year old texts suspicious? I have the correspondence on my phone dating back to my first Android in 2011. It's really not hard to backup your texts and stick them on your cloud drive.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but who doesn't "retain two year old text messages?" These days you have to make a concerted effort to permanently delete anything, especially emails and texts.
I don't necessarily retain two year old texts. Only the ones I think I might need later, like a work-related text that I might need to refer to later. Same with emails. I back up what I think I may need or may be useful, and delete everything else.
I think you are a very rare person in this regard. Most people probably wouldn't even know how to permanently delete a text if you asked them (other than physically destroying the phone, maybe).
I'm guessing you're not the CEO of a company with the VP of the USA as a passive partner.
I'm surprised he didn't also record all of his calls with Joe and Hunter. Wouldn't you?
Exactly. It would only be shocking or suspicious if he DIDN'T retain above mentioned documentation. As far as calls, it is likely the vast majority of comms were via email and text and contained everything important to retain.
My inner Boomer is showing. "Sip."
Aside, it's hilarious reading email from companies that have been recently sued. (Before you sued them, which is how I ended up reading their mail.) Every email between people is, "Call me." Or "See me."
Nothing got discussed in email.
I thought WhatsApp or Signal was how the cool kids conspired these days?
Maybe he did.
True, I'm not. I'm a cog in the wheel and most of the stuff I get is barely important, so that's a huge difference. But I encounter some shady people at work who do unethical things, and had some of them try to involve me their unethical things. THOSE are the text messages I keep, because THOSE are the ones that will cause me problems later.
Perfect analysis. Everything about these China deals was shady, so everything needed to be retained.
You "delete" them. I doubt you actually scrub them like you think.
I can go to my cell provider and dig up text messages that I wrote and sent 3 phones ago. It may not be on your phone, but it ain't deleted.
Shit, I only delete junk. Storage is so cheap and easy that it's pointless to worry about saving a few MB of your 1TB onboard storage with hundreds to thousands of gigs of cloud storage available too.
A lot of the words out of President Trump's mouth last night were still incomprehensible or untrue,
Lol. Mask off in the 2nd sentence.
They both said untrue things. But biden was incomprehensible completely. From Godwin law to saying the public option was for people who qualified for medicaid but couldn't get medicaid.
Biden also completely lied about him not his son receiving a cent from foreign countries.
Trump wound snippets of this theory—which originates with Rudy Giuliani and was published by the New York Post—
It originated from the emails on hunters laptop. It is corroborated by 2 public entities now. It is backed by wire transfer s and secret service travel logs.
Stop gaslighting .
It is corroborated by 2 public entities now.
As we have learned, only anonymous sources can be trusted.
It is backed by wire transfer s and secret service travel logs.
A lack of evidence would be more compelling.
Who is gaslighting, JesseAz?

I guess I should add USA Today to that as well since you kindly provided a link to your preferred gaslighting source.
I especially liked the linked fact check at the end...
"Biden refers to military as 'stupid bastards' but only jokingly"
It's like they expect no one to remember they ran on Trump calling dead soldiers "losers" as a true fact (who cares if its unproven and unsubstantiated!)
That link is from Oct. 1.

Lol, I didn't even notice, but I should have guessed.
Haha, Dee is such a fucking joke at this point.
Law Professor Glenn Reynolds, who used to write here, but now writes for USA Today, said the paper refused to print this weeks installment of his weekly column, because it was on Hunter Biden's laptop.
Not because there was anything wrong with what he wrote, but because the editors were scared to touch it.
https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/407934/
That's White Knight's "factchecking" source. A newspaper where they censor articles on the same subject because its staff are frightened of pissing off the Democrats.
NPR's tweet on it is just disgusting:
https://twitter.com/NPRpubliceditor/status/1319281101223940096?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1319281101223940096%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_3%2Ccontainerclick_1&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2020%2F10%2F23%2Fthe-mainstream-press-is-desperate-to-help-joe-biden-even-if-it-means-a-media-blackout%2F
Cernovich down thread in that Tweet, pointed out that he can't wait until they lose their taxpayer support. Neither can I.
"We don't want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories."
“We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories.”
They do, however, in the very next tweet, feel their readers have time to listen at great length to NPR's in-depth exploration of why they don't have time to listen to this.
Cool. So, now USA Today has been added to the CACLL list of news sources that are not approved.

It means conservative and conservative-leaning libertarian, and I coined it.
Also White Knight is apparently cool with USA Today censoring their own columnists because they're admittedly afraid of the Democrats.
Come on, man, put some effort into it.
"Conservatives and Totally Conservative Acting Libertarian Lampoons" would at least spell something pronounceable.
My apologies to the rest of the Commentariat for encouraging WK to CATCALL folks. 😉
No problem, she needs all the help she can get.
(If you're curious about Bobulinski, who was Trump's guest at the debate last night, check out this Wall Street Journal article, which found "no role for Joe Biden" in a Chinese oil venture that Bobulinski was trying to set up with Hunter Biden and several other partners in 2017.)
Well thats a dishonest interpretation of what Bobulinski has said.
And to clarify for the leftitarian people here...
Hunter obtained a 5 million, unsecured, forgivable loan from Chinese company CFEC. This money is shown in the senate report being transferred to a Delaware shell corp to a hunter account in small increments over a year.
"If I had gotten cash from the Chinese through Hunter, I would have reported it on my taxes!"
Do they have a line item for "Chinese influence payoffs" on Schedule A?
Nope; that is on schedule C. On a line called consulting fees.
Structured Deposits?
They were over 10k, so wouldn't qualify. But it was broken up to look like consulting fees.
Yes, I was using the term very broadly to imply payments made in a way to hide their magnitude and purpose.
Asked about the 545 migrant children who were separated from their parents
So still ignoring the fact many of these were unaccompanied minors?
Children are routinely separated from their parents. Government agents come to their homes to take the children off to government facilities. At least it was routine until they closed the schools.
How many us citizens are currently separated from their parents due to child welfare services?
And it is also routine to gather contact information so that they can be returned to parents or relatives.
It is also routine for you to educate yourself before wading into a conversation, but you never actually do.
“In the current litigation, for example, out of the parents of 485 children whom Plaintiffs’ counsel has been able to contact, they’ve yet to identify a single family that wants their child reunited with them in their country of origin,” Jennings said.
https://thefederalist.com/2020/10/23/if-you-dont-know-that-coyotes-are-human-smugglers-shut-up-about-the-border/
You and other CACLLs brag about how well informed you are, but it's telling that you are only up-to-date on right-wing talking points.
I've noticed most commenters here are up-to-date on every wing's talking points.
And Dee is projecting here, as she frequently asks questions that everyone else that has even a passing knowledge of the subject already knows. Then asks for a cite. Her bullshit is getting tiresome.
Getting?
I'm well past bothering to engage with the loser.
I still find some entertainment in ridiculing her dumb ass.
So you have no response to the actual situation of the 485 kids in that article? You went straight to blanket denial?
Kudos I guess?
It's more telling that you aren't up to date on anything.
You and other CACLLs brag about how well informed you are
Lol, a reminder that this little forced meme is White Knight's own invention:

It means conservative and conservative-leaning libertarian, and I coined it.
Is there a law in Canada that ordinary people aren’t allowed to coin acronyms. Here in the godamn USA we have freedom of speech..
*Waves little American flag*
What's the difference between "conservative libertarians" vs "conservative-leaning libertarians"? Crashing before it even left the nest.
The poor girl’s been using that pathetic acronym for weeks holding her breath that someone would ask her what it means. Mother finally did yesterday. Nobody thinks she’s as clever as she does.
#sad
I didn’t write “conservative libertarians”. I wrote “conservative”.
It’s still embarrassingly stupid.
"And it is also routine to gather contact information so that they can be returned to parents or relatives."
You have no clue what is routine.
Then there was the hilarious misstep of calling Trump "Abraham Lincoln" because he was so worked up that he got the two confused.
You're joking, right? Trump regularly tweets comparisons between himself and Abraham Lincoln. He used to say that he has done more for black people than any other President. After tweeting that over and over for months, he finally changed it to "with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln."
Cope harder.
Biden probably would fuck you.
Too old. Even if he got it up, the best the old boy could do is shoot a puff of dust on WK's back door.
He’d grope Dee and smell her hair, I’m sure.
I highly, highly doubt Biden "confused" Trump for someone else, and here's why. He was mockingly referencing the "...did more for black people than any other president besides maybe Abraham Lincoln" comment that Trump made less than five minutes earlier. Biden says and I quote, " 'Abraham Lincoln' here is the..." with an inclusion of the word "here" to knowingly alert listeners that he is calling attention to the fact he didn't call Trump by his real name. It wouldn't make sense to say, "Donald Trump here is the..." when he could've said, "Donald Trump is the..." or "This man is the..." instead, especially considering Joe is on a time limit and every word counts.
Cope harder.
"Lol. Mask off in the 2nd sentence."
You know that Trump shook her when the natural question ("Who do you think won last night's debate") receives the answer, "No one cares!"
If the press says it is a tie, means trump dominated.
"Foreign meddling" news fatigue set in long ago.
Ha, now it's irrelevant. I wonder what changed.

Looks like we've moved a couple of spaces.
I hadn't seen this before. Oddly accurate. Kudos ML.
I stole it from elsewhere, but I can't remember where anymore.
This is an old play on the Clinton machine's press strategy. It was always to say no comment until there are enough people asking about it, and then deny it. And then say "we answered this months ago when it all started".
Inspired. 🙂
"If you closely follow election news and online media/tech controversies, much of what Trump said on stage last night may have been familiar, or at least not inscrutable. But less extremely plugged-in voters can't have known what to make of Trump's scattered insinuations and accusations about the Biden family."
And if you follow REASON, you have no idea what is happening.
"And if you follow REASON, you have no idea what is happening."
And it didn't used to be that way.
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
And his kid's a pimp.
You have to wonder. What kind of man uses his son as a bagman, knowing his child has very severe substance abuse issues?
The same kind of guy that gropes the breast of a child at a televised press conference. A complete monster, in other words.
I'm normally against elder abuse, but for Joe Biden, I don't mind watching it happen.
A politician?
He uses his brother too.
It's actually pretty standard stuff.
If you want to bribe an official, you pay off his kids. You hire them onto your payroll, etc.
It works that way all over the world.
Letting his kid be bribed isn't the complaint here. That is universal, as you note.
The complaint is forcing Hunter to go solicit these bribes versus sending him off to rehab and/or finding another job where the opening conversation doesn't likely start with giving Hunter a baggie of blow. Someone who cared about their kid as more than just another tool for enriching themselves, probably wouldn't have said kid peddling his ass around the globe.
Precisely my point...you articulated it perfectly.
Perhaps he didn't. Wouldn't be the first time a drug addict fucked over their parents to fund their habit. He could have lied to his partners as to Joe's involvement in order to defraud them. They thought they were getting access to Joe when really Hunter was just stringing them along with just enough access to make it believable.
Would be a sorta of cosmic comeuppance if he ended up going down for this in the manner above after shielding his son from the drug laws that Joe Biden wrote and inflicted upon the sons and daughters of the non elite class.
And that isn't what I believe, I think Joe is involved but I reserve the right to change that view from - not involved at all to 100% guilty as sin - as new facts emerge.
Every time I read an article about Hunter even at "conservative" sites it usually contains a line about how he's "struggled with drug addiction". Tooting coke out of a woman's ass and smoking crack while getting a blow job doesn't look like he's struggling much. And let's not forget that the Big Guy spent decades putting people struggling with drug addiction in federal prison while his scumbag son became a millionaire. All of this would be hilarious if it wasn't so fucking appalling.
And his running mate put people in prison for smoking weed, did it herself, and later admitted to laughing about doing so.
Really? Because in the very article we are commenting on, an idea what is happening is given.
No actually, you don't
That was incoherent.
It's four words, hardly incoherent.
"you don't"
I don't what? What in the sentence, "Really? Because in the very article we are commenting on, an idea what is happening is given." could "you don't" possibly be referring to?
Who built the cages is Trump's rejoinder? If he had torn them down it would be one thing. But he filled them!
The Obama administration is apparently off the hook.
Trump was sued and USSC said he couldn't end obamas data policy (EO).
Yet here he continued the policy prior and is blamed for it. Go figure.
Also requires complete ignorance of the unaccompanied minors issue.
Daca policy*
I think the complaint that many people won't understand the point is true here. It wasn't sufficient to say "Who built the cages, Joe".
Trump needed to spend a minute explaining that the problem wasn't cages, but Obama/Biden policy that encouraged parents to send their kids unaccompanied or with strangers. It was that policy that separated kids from parents, and the cages were the logical result of that decision- which Biden should know, since his administration built them and started filling them.
The Mainstream Press Is Desperate To Help Joe Biden, Even If It Means A Media Blackout
It was funny to watch the moderator bring up "tough questions for Biden" but when trump turned the wrench on Biden's talking point, she interrupted Trump to move to the next question.
Notice they never cut Biden's mic but cut trump's 2+ times.
Her profuse allowance for 10 seconds for trump responses clearly proved she was unbiased and fair.
I wish our expectations weren't so pathetically low that we see that as an improvement.
'Trump repeatedly accused the Democratic presidential nominee and his son Hunter of being involved in shady foreign business dealings."
Gee, I wonder what he's referring to?

Forgive me but this appears to be saying that it is in fact NOT total BS.
It makes sense that those parents would be dodging calls from Homeland Security since they may be in the United State illegally, too. Do we know those kids haven't been reunited with their parents? If you released me to my aunt, she'd have me reunited with my mom in a heartbeat. Even if the mom had been deported to Mexico, they might decide they'd rather the kid stay with his aunt.
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
Sadly, it turns out that the usual NPR standard of reporting is in play again.
There whereabouts of 485 of those parents are known; and they have been contacted. They just don't want the kids back because the parents are back home and the kids are still in the USA.

I shouldn't quote such a big block of text but Oh. My. Lord just come out and say you are voting for Biden
I thought reason did that last week.
She said she wasn't going to vote. But there is no way her TDS will allow that.
It is entirely possible to dislike Trump and still vote for Jo Jorgensen, or not vote at all. No contradiction whatsoever.
It is entirely possible to hate Trump with the fury of a thousand exploding suns and still lie about voting for Jo Jorgensen, and pull the lever for Biden.
She’s been caught clearly lying so many times since March, she’s moved into my “Everything she says I assume the opposite until further notice” category of liars.
Ah, Mother’s is a mind reader. Got it.
Caw caw!
No. You're just eminently predictable.
" Peter Suderman explains that Rudy Giuliani scene in Borat"
You're aware of a meaningless Borat scene but you are not "aware" that Hunter Biden's business partner dropped a nuke at a press conference?
Say's a lot.
ENB addressed Tony Bobulinski's accusations in the article above. That indicates awareness.
And what an address it was. My point stands.
no she didn't, she handwaived it away.
Why do you lie so much? There was no actual rebuttal to his accusations.
Hahaha Oh wow.
This isn't addressing, it's blowing off. It's even in fucking parentheses:
(If you're curious about Bobulinski, who was Trump's guest at the debate last night, check out this Wall Street Journal article, which found "no role for Joe Biden" in a Chinese oil venture that Bobulinski was trying to set up with Hunter Biden and several other partners in 2017.)
Her only quote is cherrypicked, lol.
It's not cherrypicked, it is a deceptive fabrication.
"check out this Wall Street Journal article, which found “no role for Joe Biden”"
It said no such thing. The Wall Street Journal found a partner who SAID there was no role for Joe Biden. And there was another person who contradicted that and provided supporting documentation.
So, we’ve got two statements, one saying it’s true and one it’s false. This is where we stand. Not exactly the rock-solid smoking gun CACLLs wish it to be.
“check out this Wall Street Journal article, which found “no role for Joe Biden””
And here ENB lies that there’s a conclusion found in the article.
I know you are incapable of answering this honestly, but I’ll try anyway: Is the finding of the WSJ article that there was “no role for Joe Biden”, or that there are conflicting statements about it?

It flies in the face of a lot of Jesse Walker's basic premises, too--about how conspiracy theories aren't a fringe phenomenon--but central to the way average Americans make sense of the world.
All forms of media are in addition to word of mouth. People still talk to each other and may find the things that are said by people they know more persuasive and influential than what they get from the media.
The Gallup poll from September 30, 2020 had it that 89% of Republicans and 64% of independents have either little or no trust in the media.

Just because the media isn't talking about Hunter Biden doesn't mean the rest of us aren't.
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
P.P.S. I think everyone should end every comment with "P.S. Joe Biden is a crook" until the media starts treating the story seriously and until Joe Biden bothers to deny the stories about the emails. As if this moment, Joe Biden hasn't even bothered to deny the stories about the emails--as far as I know! Am I wrong about that? If he won't even bother to deny the story, we should never shut up about it until he does or addresses it.
From what i saw Joe Biden only denies he got money from foreign nations, yet, which leaves his kid out to hang.
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook
If Hunter were a reliable witness, I'd love to see him turn on his abusive father.
P.S. Joe Biden is a Crook.
Yeah I found Joe's denial a little too specifically parsed. If Hunter cut the check to a third party entity in which Joe has an interest his claim is technically correct.
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
It’s an appropriation of an autistic cultural term.
ENB you personally not finding a story interesting or having foreign meddling fatigue does not mean everyone else does. But how would reason even begin to know the interest level because they have only written one article on the Biden story and it was about social media censoring it by Soave. Maybe publish a story and look at page views and interactions to find out. The story is suppressed on social media and is still generating massive interest.
You'd be depressed and worn out too if you believed the Russian collusion story as deeply as she did.

Damn, ENB. That's a pretty cold condemnation of the News Media including yourself.
The majority of the media have been trying their damnedest to quash the story in order to protect the Democrats and she is questioning whether the general public is familiar enough to understand the references. Hell, she is insinuating the accusations are made up, without much evidence. Corrupt journalism means the public is badly informed, shocking.
The logic is similar to Joe Biden proving he never received illegal payments from a Chinese Company because "hey, look at my tax returns.... No illegal payments listed".
that settles it then its not on the tax returns, but it is sitting in escrow until he decides to claim it
It reminds me of the year my tax returns proved I did not paint houses for cash under the table.

WSJ news staff saying that there's no direct evidence of the Chinese paying Joe off is fairly hard to swallow given the circumstatial evidence and trove of texts and emails. We are subject to breathless reporting of foreigners going to trump hotel and buying drinks as evidence of corruption and improper we truly live in clown world.

I don't know how we have any need for any part of the justice system under these circumstances.
"Was the Final Presidential Debate Incomprehensible to Normies?"
No, it was a clear and thorough ass kicking of Biden by Trump.
And wtf is a "normie", you Enemy of the People?
Normal is a thing again I guess.
As the masters of newspeak, the left has to keep coming up with new pejoratives every few weeks.
I've heard it used by the Right as well. It is a term to refer to normal, every day people (as opposed to the abnormal folks who eat, drink, and breathe politics on social media all day long).
I don't think it was meant to be derogatory towards the subject so much as towards the one saying it. A self-admission that most people have more important things in their life to care about than the latest twitter outrage.

IMO, the debate was a draw. Sadly, POTUS Trump did not land a knockout blow. I was looking for that to happen.
Compared to Chris Wallace, the moderator did a decent job.
The Hitler comment by Brain-Damaged Biden literally made me say, 'WTF is up with that. Terrible analogy!'. I think Sleepy Joe was going for the Trump = Hitler allusion, but the delivery fell flat. I don't think the debate 'hurt' POTUS Trump, but I also think it did not help him as much as I thought it would.
This election is going to be agonizingly close. The Donald better hit the trail every day between now and November 3. And the story about Biden's corruption needs to 'explode' into the national consciousness ASAP.
Finally....Joe Biden is corrupt AF.
The Biden corruption scandal was trending on Twitter despite the suppression attempts. It's going viral whether the left likes it or not.

Yep, and it is going to be chaos in the counting process.
One of the lesson that should have been learned from Bush v Gore is that votes must be counted consistently within the state. You can't count hanging chads in one county and not the other. I think this is likely to play out in some form with state requirements for a valid mail in ballot and if the counties consistently follow the rules or not.
I think you are right.
An intelligent population would understand that is it not going to run smoothly and to let the process play out without making the nation more stressful. And yes, shouting about the other team will make it more stressful.
Also, I have little doubt that those who try to gaslight us yet again about Trump not accepting the election results will once again not accept the election results if Trump wins.
nope, it's voter suppression to check signatures

The “it’s Trump’s fault we’ve never heard of coyotes” takes are the fucking best.
http://twitter.com/Timcast/status/1319646692870938625?s=19
CNN doesn't do news and they accidentally admitted it
So that’s where ENB got her take.
And by take I mean talking point.

Biden's message tonight at the debate was pretty simple: he'll lock down the entire country, raise taxes, and destroy the U.S. energy industry.

"Critical race theory, the 1619 project, and the crusade against American history is toxic propaganda, ideological poison that if not removed will dissolve the civic bonds that tie us together. It will destroy our country." - President Trump
http://twitter.com/hughhewitt/status/1319486856996806656?s=19
You can’t make it up. One side feels great. The other, not great. The former is Team Trump. And that’s not counting the email dumpster fire that is spreading. It’s on substance. Americans want to reopen, to have plentiful jobs and energy. They also don’t like career politicians.
Obligatory "You know who else is on substance?" post.
Postscript, Joe Biden is a crook.
I assume all politicians are crooks. Joe Biden's proposed policies are bad enough to disqualify him, all by themselves. As is his advanced age.
If you closely follow election news and online media/tech controversies, much of what Trump said on stage last night may have been familiar, or at least not inscrutable. But less extremely plugged-in voters can't have known what to make of Trump's scattered insinuations and accusations about the Biden family.
Yep, I saw MSNBC making that same point. If you're a fan of far-right wacko conspiracy nutjob sites, you're familiar with the story of Hunter Biden's laptop. If you get your news from "reputable" sources, you've never heard of Hunter Biden's laptop. And that's how you know this story of Hunter Biden's laptop is a load of crap - the mainstream media isn't talking about it. It's such a load of horseshit that Twitter and Facebook even went so far as to ban any talking about it! Yep, that's all the proof I need to know what to think about this issue.
+1
The Gallup poll from September 30, 2020 had it that 89% of Republicans and 64% of independents have either little or no trust in the media.
https://news.gallup.com/poll/321116/americans-remain-distrustful-mass-media.aspx
They aren't just (repeatedly) destroying their own credibility with Republicans (who, by the way, are also average people rather than radical fringe). 64% of independents have little or no faith in the news media.
CNN and MSNBC have been living off the fact that cable companies charge for having their channels in their lineup--regardless of whether anyone actually watches them. They don't need to attract as much of an audience because they're getting paid for by cable customers when they pay their cable bill anyway.
I would venture that 89% of Republicans and 64% of Independents would rather go without CNN and MSNBC--and not pay for them. As the streaming revolution continues, we'll see the bills come due for the likes of CNN and MSNBC. Get yourself a Roku player, and you can watch and pay for what you want--without CNN and MSNBC if you like. CNN and MSNBC are like a buggy whip manufacturer facing the horseless carriage revolution--with the added problem of endlessly broadcasting their contempt for half their customers.
ESPN is having that same issue. They've been living fat for decades off of the fact that cable TV companies can't provide a la carte services. It's a big reason we finally cut the cord rather than pay an extra $50-100 a month for 200 channels, when we only watched maybe 10 of them that we couldn't get on over-the-air TV.
Their money pipeline has been taking a hit with all the cord-cutting, and with them fully on the Woke Train combined with COVID shutting down or limiting a lot of sports, there's no incentive for non-progressive subscribers to continue tuning in.
I've never seen something as clearly professionally destructive like the sports reporters literally cheerleading and rooting for sports to remaining shut down it was something.
Cheerleading for dissing the national anthem!
Why would that make you popular?
the worst was when they started reporting on the athletes and coaches who weren't dissing the national anthem, to try to figure out why.
Even Woke Ol' Coach Popovich stood for the national anthem, and the reporters were shocked, even though he graduated from the Air Force Academy.
What's the point of continuing to watch a bunch of subliterate race-mongers who hate my guts and think I owe them reparations when they're making millions of dollars?
The one consolation is that these dipshits are almost all going to be a bunch of broke-ass bitches once their career ends, because their friends and relatives don't have the future-time orientation to understand that playing professional sports doesn't guarantee an unending supply of cash, forever.
Disney (owners of ESPN) put out a memo a while back that read more or less like an announcement that they would be all about profitability moving forward--across all divisions. That's about politics in addition to whatever else.
You can't afford to piss off half your audience with your politics when Mulan was a flop, your parks are closed, ESPN ratings were down in the toilet without any sports to talk about, your cruise ship business is gone, etc., etc.
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
P.P.S. I don't pay for ESPN anymore either.
It's embarrassing.
"the mainstream media isn’t talking about it"
Reason is doing it's part to help Team Joe!
"It's the end of the world as we know it!
And I feel fine..."
The debate clips I saw, Biden's eye look weird and unblinking. I think he was stoned, heavily.
OK, but it is prescription meds, so it is fine.
Am I the only one wondering how Biden will govern effectively (until Kween Kamala boots him out) when he spends three days out of four hiding instead of "being presidential"?
I've said that repeatedly. If you need 4 days to prepare for 2 hours of Donald Trump how on Earth are you going to deal with the daily rigors of being POTUS?
I wish all Presidents would take 3 days off for every day they work. We would all be better off.
Can we go for 7?
Congress too. Mandatory.
PS: Joe Biden is a crook.
thought maybe Eyejob Joe but someone else suggested Botox Joe
It was a symptom of a malady Jane Coaston diagnosed in detail yesterday: "Trump's presidential campaign is too online"
This, coming from somebody whose entire oeuvre is copy/pasting snippets from Twitter, is pretty fucking rich. Pretty. Fucking. Rich.
That "too online" criticism is nothing but blatant projection.
The ONLY source these people get their news from anymore is Twitter. It's a lot easier to just regurgitate whatever Democrat in-kind propaganda article the Associated Press spit out as fact rather than contact people or go through primary sources and find out information that way.
I was reading an commentary by some old-time local newspaper editor who was talking about how lazy the clickbait generation of journalists was. The editor was trying to put together a story on some local government infrastructure project, and she told one of the cub reporters to get in touch with the city manager responsible for it. After two weeks, she followed up and asked the reporter what the manager had said. "Oh, I emailed him but he didn't respond."
She told the goof to stop fucking around and call the manager directly--apparently this guy had a policy of not answering emails from the press, but would talk if they called him for comments.
If the information can't be found online, these people are utterly helpless, and it's a big reason that journalism in particular has gone down the toilet the last 15 years or so.
This is also why the COVID pandemic was such a shit show. They would print these models showing projections of ELEVENTY BILLION PERCENT over bed capacity, rather than call the fucking hospitals to ask them. And so everyone in the country thought New Yorkers were being stacked like cord wood in the streets when in fact a couple hospitals filled up and had to send divert ambulances elsewhere.
What is more likely to get reported? A story that requires you to call sources, and cross check their claims, or just repeating the talking points that some NGO lobbying group sent you in their morning digest?
If one is really concerned about kids in cages, who built them is a very fair question. To deny that the last administration was doing it is just putting party fealty over the kids. If party > kids, then you don't really care that much about them. Except when you can use them as a tool to damage the other team.
https://www.businessinsider.com/immigration-border-crisis-photos-2014-6
Not to say Obama built them, he did use them.
So, we have a laptop with a shop owner on record saying how he got it, at a shop a few miles away from Joe Biden's house, with receipts signed by Hunter, with an email from Hunter's lawyer trying to get it back, and with several emails verified by other people on the email list and pics of Hunter not seen elsewhere.
Also, two different business partners have turned on the Bidens.
Yea, nothing here. Let's hear more about TEH RUZZIANS!!
Also, the FBI and DoJ have said there is no evidence of Russian involvement. Joe Biden is using his drug addicted son as his bagman, letting Hunter kill himself slowly with his half of the proceeds, instead of getting him help.
Miss anything?
A link showing how willing some are about ignoring the above facts.
https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/inside-campaign-pizzagate-hunter-biden-n1244331
"Pizzagate," huh?
Fuck these people. Baghdad Bob had more fucking pride than this.
The pizzagate-style rumors in 2016 were largely confined to far-right message boards like 4chan and parts of Reddit.
Lol, Reddit is as far right as Ho Chi Minh.
"Foreign meddling" news fatigue set in long ago.
Yesterday the progressive news handwringingly reported that "Russia and Iran have voter registration information".
The Horror!
I don't give a shit about foreign election meddling when we have such a blatant example of domestic election meddling as Twitter and Facebook suppressing information and the MSM following right along. At this point, I don't give a shit about their free speech rights, free speech doesn't extend to lies and slander and sins of omission in trying to affect the outcome of an election without reporting this in-kind contribution. At this point, I don't care if the Senate subpoenas the heads of these companies to appear before them and then just pulls a Borgia and shoots them all in the goddamn head. They're crooks and traitors and un-American shitweasels dedicated to the destruction of America, capitalism and Western Civilization in the name of creating the New Soviet Man.
Oh, now we care about large databases filled with PII, getting leaked overseas?
Because no one in the major media said shit about the whole SF-86 database getting rooted by China, or the ISI having the potential to see literally everything that went across the desks of the Chairs of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees.
But that was during the Lightbringer, and therefore 'not news.'
Maybe they should have kept the sever in the bathroom.
ENB and this website, owned by koch reason enterprises, breathlessly reported every item of the democrat russian fantasy conspiracy for four fucking years. And then dismisses the very real possibility that Joe Biden after nearly 5 decades in government might be corrupt. I know your owners want him elected, but have at least some credibility.
Why would she start now?
Mr. Bobulinski's statement on C-span yesterday doesn't sound like he thinks Joe Biden was not involved.
https://www.c-span.org/video/?477307-1/tony-bobulinski-statement-hunter-biden&fbclid=IwAR2JHbL77S94FLu5VLYrSgqLgI1MamsVtRlU5G9Wke61kYx3cGNbNV2YVKY
Yes, but ENB has a cherrypicked WSJ quote and that's more reliable than your lying ears.
The WaPo today reports that Biden is ahead of Trump in Virginia 52% to 41%. Surely 7% can’t be undecided, but the article does not mention Jo Jorgensen anywhere
Hill took it 49-44, last time around. 49.5-44.5, really. Of the six ish remaining points, Gary took 3, and McMullin, the Greens, and everyone else split the rest.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_presidential_election_in_Virginia
Point is, I doubt very strongly that Biden really has an 11 point lead, and I doubt even more that Jo will get the three Gary pulled. Though I'll be incredibly stunned if Trump wins there.
Trump is not going to win VA, but agree that it’s going to be tighter than the WaPo poll says. The poll also shows that Trump is very slightly ahead in the NoVa exurbs that Hillary won last time, Biden’s lead is actually due to higher support in Richmond burbs.
>>repeatedly accused the Democratic presidential nominee and his son Hunter of being involved in shady foreign business dealings.
T doing your job for you.
"But less extremely plugged-in voters can't have known what to make of Trump's scattered insinuations and accusations about the Biden family."
Wow, ENB finally wrote something accurate (albeit misleading) about the Biden family.
But the reason ENB was correct is because she and her fellow left wing anti Trump propagandists (who call themselves journalists, the news media and social media) have conspired to censor virtually all of the evidence documenting the Biden family's corruption.
BTW Trump clearly won last night's debate.
“P.S. Joe Biden is a crook”
They've really hung it all on this election. If Trump miraculously manages to overcome the fudge factor, they'll have no choice but a hot coup.
Weird, my link about the Clinton Foundation taking a large 'donation' from a Chinese company that comes up in the Hunter Biden emails just won't post. It says subsequent attempts are duplicate posts, but doesn't post the original.
It's also clearly a reaction to Democrats focusing for years on alleged Trump ties to Russia and Ukraine, as well as what seems like an attempt to make this Biden Crime Family business play the role that Hillary Clinton's private email server did in 2016.
CEFC China Energy is the company implicated in the first New York Post email drop from the article, “Emails reveal how Hunter Biden tried to cash in big on behalf of family with Chinese firm.” Emails obtained by the outlet show how Hunter Biden “pursued lucrative deals involving China’s largest private energy company — including one that he said would be “interesting for me and my family.”
The emails reveal that a potential “remuneration package” for the CEFC deal included a potential “Chair / Vice Chair” position and a 20 percent stake in the venture for Hunter Biden along with “10 held by H for the big guy.” Hunter Biden’s business partner Tony Bobulinski, also attached on the email thread, confirmed that the “big guy” is a reference to Joe Biden.
...Clinton Foundation records reveal that CEFC China Energy company donated a sum between $50,001 and $100,000 to the foundation, a sizable amount which came in the third quarter of 2015.
Interesting, I take the link out and it posts right up. I'll put just the link in my next post and see what happens.
Nope, that link will not post here. This source has been shadowbanned.
the national pulse dot com slash exclusive slash clinton-foundation-cefc-donation
A different link from the same webpage just got eaten.
Shadowbanned.
I tried it and yes, it is getting eaten.
So what?
Private company and all that jazz - - - - - - - -
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook
(her too)
It does that if you put more than one link in your post.
Multiple links give you a moderation message, not an eaten post. My post had the single link.
Nah, try to post just that link, Ken. It won't let you post your comment.
Maybe it's because the link is a https one? The article isn't even that noteworthy, though the list of people with 50-100 grand burning such a hole in their pocket that they have to give it to the Clinton Foundation, is a surprising one. Mario Batali? Really?
Fucking hilarious. Yeah, it won't let me post it either?
Really, Reason? You can't stop an army of bots using the same shilling language, but this link, you're able to stop?
Let me try...
Woah, I can't.
Even Reason is deliberately censoring the Clinton-Hunter Biden link. Libertarian magazine indeed.
the national pulse dot com/exclusive/clinton-foundation-cefc-donation/
Well after a boatload of experimentation that was the first time it went through.
Reason really wants to keep that story under wraps.
No matter what I do, I can't access that site.
yet somehow can't stop the work from home spam
A byproduct of people learning to code.
Same here. Weird. Oh well, let’s all just forget this is happening and move on.
It's hilarious that the people fretting about the peaceful transfer of power are malevolently stopping people from exposing a certain candidate's criminality...
Sorry, did I say hilarious? I meant horrifying.
If Joe Biden wasn’t involved then China and Ukraine are going to be asking Hunter for a refund.
I did like the claim that Joe didn’t declare any such payments on his taxes. If he’s already rich and Hunter is his only son, then why bother transferring the money?
Maybe Hunter was just scamming them for crack money.
so many tears on November 3rd! Or even better, the commentator community will suddenly be libertarian again!
I can't wait until an article is published on Reason criticizing a president and there not being a few hundred comments defending him.
If Joe becomes president, Reason articles criticizing him will be even rarer than negative Obama ones.
Disagree. Especially if he tries some hamfisted tariffs on China.
Now President Harris? Yeah, she's going to be able to get away with murder.
And that may not be a figure of speech!
It’s the lack of coverage of a negative story about Biden that’s being criticized dipshit.
>>>But less extremely plugged-in voters can't have known
well they *could have* but this goes back to you assholes being censors instead of free press.
I didn't watch the debate, but given that the media is grudgingly calling it a "draw", can I assume Trump won handily?
was a draw in the sense two men stood apart from each other for a couple hours and neither fell over, yes.
Yes; Trump didn't literally melt down, and Biden didn't literally shit himself.
Progress.
My take away from this article:
"Copypasta" is internet slang for any block of text that gets copied and pasted over and over again, typically disseminated by individuals through online discussion forums and social networking sites. Although it shares some characteristics with spam in the sense they're both unsolicited (and often considered a nuisance), copypastas are mainly spread through human operators whereas the latter is automatically generated by electronic messaging systems
I think our bots are moving in this direction.
The trouble with both campaigns is tha they are so deep in their respective bubbles that they forget to campaign to anyone outside them.
I first saw this in 2016, but it's even more pronounced now. The independent, undecided, and fence sitting voter has been completely ignored. Biden is up there so he can get applause from his core supports, and Trump is up there so he can get applause from his core supporters.
They are campaigning to their choirs.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/09/25/politics/donald-trump-black-empowerment-platinum-plan/index.html
Black people are the choir of the Republican Party. Who knew?
Off topic
If any of you are in the market for a robot vacuum, I can't recommend the Roomba i7 (with the cleaning station) highly enough.
Not because the i7 is some super piece of hardware (though it is pretty sweet) but because the cleaning station option allows the bot to empty its own bin into a larger one. Meaning that you don't need to tend it while it works. Its freaking great.
It will pick up rabbit poops and light hay - my upright vac (even the 1.5in shop vac) has problems with hay jamming it up.
A (somewhat) lower priced option is from Shark. There's only a couple brands that are offering this right now and, having used it, there's not really any reason to consider a bot-vac without one.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the big collector is bagged while the Shark's is bagless.
The Braava M6, however, I have mixed opinions on. Its apparently juuuuust tall enough to catch on my kitchen cabinets. And it has a hard time finding the freaking dock.
Otherwise, it does well with mopping - but even a 1/4 in divider (such as between my tile and my wood) is too high for it to get over. Good, I guess, to keep it off of rugs, but I'll have to manually move it to do the other half of the house #FirstWorldProblems.
And I may have overpaid a little bit. There's an i8 version (the i7 plus slightly more accessories) from Costco that is often on sale and Best Buy often has the i7 on sale.
Hmm, I remember one of the funniest comments I've read in a long time here was someone complained their Roomba AI vacuum was like a drunk teenage runaway. Every night they'd have to look for it and figure out where it had passed out, then manually return it to its station.
On a serious note, I'd really like to get one of those... if it actually worked. I'm just scared shitless to drop $600 on an AI robot vacuum that gets stuck under a chair, table, stuff on the floor etc.
The newer ones have low-res cameras and a shit-ton of memory. Mine has mapped out the house - to better enable Alexa to murder me with the toaster;) - so even if the bin fills (or the batter gets low) it'll return to the base station, empty itself, charge (if needed), and then head back out to the spot where it left off.
No more 'random walk' navigation, it cleans in rows. You can mark off areas in the app where it won't go into or areas where it will give extra attention too.
These things have come a long way.
The still have a ravenous appetite for cables though.
Like, it *knows* what its cleaned over and what its not and you'll see it maneuver around to get at the missed spots.
As for being scared shitless, I know what you mean. I was in a position where I was going to need to cage my bunnies - adult rabbits, even litter-trained, make a mess.
This one has turned out to be not merely adequate but as good (if slower) than if I had done the cleaning myself.
I should get this because my wife refuses to check if our iRobot is filled and keeps using it until dust is coming out of the wheels without emptying it.
Why don't they just have the robot digest the dust for energy? it's mostly human skin and pet dander, must have a few calories.
and what could possibly go wrong, with autonomous flesh-eating robots cleaning your house?
This is the dumbest part of the Roomba. What is the point of a robot vacuum if you have to empty the thing so often. That dirt collector is tiny!
If you are going to robot, the thing needs to dump the trash itself.
They do that now.
A few days ago, I linked to a tweet from President Trump announcing that he was taking Sudan off the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
"GREAT news! New government of Sudan, which is making great progress, agreed to pay $335 MILLION to U.S. terror victims and families. Once deposited, I will lift Sudan from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list. At long last, JUSTICE for the American people and BIG step for Sudan!
----@realDonaldTrump
https://twitter.com/POTUS/status/1318251851796615169
Speculation had it that this was a precursor to Sudan normalizing relations with Israel.
It's now office. Sudan has officially normalized relations with Israel in a deal brokered by the Trump administration.
President Trump genuinely deserves to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
P.S. Joe Biden is a crook.
I'm sorry, Ken, but I just can't forgive mean tweets.
This https link got posted, unlike the national pulse one from above.
Anyone can bring about world peace, but being rude on Twitter discredits the sacredness of the office of the president.
C'mon man! It was *her turn*!
Are you sure this happened? Did you see any reputable news source covering it?
No?
Yeah, didn't think so.....
as Trump repeatedly accused the Democratic presidential nominee and his son Hunter of being involved in shady foreign business dealings.
Kamala Harris accused Biden of being a rapist in her debate, so...
He should have paid for it like Willy,
I thought it was a barter exchange.
The only thing incomprehensible to this 'normie' is how ENB keeps her job at Unreason. I have never seen such a brain-dead progressive in my life. Well, maybe AOC rivals ENB.
Ever since Koch and Soros hooked up and conceived a bouncing baby thinktank, Reason's been all aboard the Davos train.
"The question is: Does anyone outside the ranks of either party's most rabid bases really care? "Foreign meddling" news fatigue set in long ago."
this is especially true when anyone who pays attention knows that information ops of various types against national internal politics are very common worldwide. every nation with the means and reach uses them (including the good ol US of A) in circumstances where they believe they have a vested interest. the only novelty in 2016 was the unexpected impact of social media in bringing the tactic to the cultural forefront in the US. claims that Russia & Iran are "meddling" are now met with "and??". and should be. it's a non-story.
Holy crap, ENB! You need to bookmark this for later. The level of motivated reasoning you are falling victim to is astonishing.
One of the co-conspirators says that Joe Biden is part of the conspiracy. Emails and texts back him up.
Claiming "this pundit says there is nothing to it!" is not an argument. You don't need to appeal to any authority on this one. The guys actually engaged in the conspiracy are telling you in their own words exactly what is happening.
Come back in a year and read back what you were thinking at the time. You'll be astonished.
You sound like the people who really believed OJ was innocent. "But that drop of blood on the gate was planted! They didn't even find it until later!!"
Oh to be a woke libertarian like ENB...pot, abortion, and of course open boarders is key to ensuring our natural rights and taking down the entire authoritarian state?
Funny how the first politician I heard talking about liberty and Austrian economics was Ron Paul (didn't hear about either when at an "elite east coast university")...you know the horrible person who brought all these "racists" into the libertarian party? Yeah we are all such "rubes'...
How's Gary Johnson doing?
Again....is this author going to update her story with a few facts?!? The Biden corruption story Did Not Originate with Rudy Guiliani. Hunter has been under investigation since Dec 2019 and the FBI has had the laptop for that time. The story finally broke because the partner in the story went public. He received the emails and published them (btw, he also gave his hard drive material, emails and texts involving the Joe Biden conspiracy to the FBI last week. This is not trumped up conspiracy - this is real and you Miss Reason are part of the coverup. Correct your story. Something tells me that Tony Bobulinski will not stand for your slander and lies.
It's already more coherent than 'Plug.
Even the bots are using vulgar language. Can Skynet be far away?
If skynethappes and they learned everything from plug we will be fine
looks like a copy and paste and then the link
The children won't be.
