Their work to slow or stop aging, if successful, is also likely to lead to broader societal upheaval, increasing pressure on natural resources and on the economy, as people live longer, work longer and imperil already strained entitlements such as Social Security.

Because nothing says "I am a caring, good human being" like wanting billions of people to die young so a government entitlement program can be financed a bit longer before going belly up.

I asked them which one of them wants to operate the gas chambers.

Also pointed out that if I have the opportunity to live longer, I plan on doing so, and if they want to stop me, they will meet with resistance and that could very well not end up nicely for them, so they might want to consider that.

But people like this never think about things like this. They just assume that whatever they want, you to die now, or whatever, will be granted to them by the all benevolent government and that there are no consequences to this.
