Attn Boston Reasonoids: Join Nick Gillespie on Wed, 2/26 for Happy Hour!
I'll be in Boston for business this week and we're throwing together a happy hour in Beantown on Wednesday, February 26, from 6 to 8pm ET.
Join Reason's Nick Gillespie for a Reason happy hour at the Grafton Street Pub & Grill in Cambridge.
The event is free but RSVPs are required - email Amy Pelletier at amy.pelletier@reason.org.
The Grafton Street Pub offers free parking at a neighboring church; we'll email you a parking pass after you RSVP. You can also take the Red Line train to Harvard Square.

Behind the BAAAAAG!
Nick is currently displaying why libertarians continue to remain unpopular in general.
Not because the principles are wrong, but BUCKNER???? YOU CANT BE SERIOUS@!!@!!!!
Fastest way to piss off a Bostonian, behind marathon bombing jokes.
If making fun of Bostonians is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
What's the difference between a baby and a Bostonian?
Babies can actually pronounce their "R" sounds?
The baby stops whining after a while.
Make fun of us sure, we deserve it no doubt, but you aren't exactly endearing yourself to the masses by joking at Buckner.
It's still not funny.
I remember Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. Still remains the angriest I've ever seen my mom, who is a die-hard Sox fan from New England.
A few years later when Grady Little became manager of the Dodgers she would heckle him when we went to games at Dodger Stadium.
It's toss up what was worse, in between Grady and Buckner because Grady had a chance to beat the Spankees and blew it (WHY DID YOU LEAVE IN PEDRO??? HE WAS DONE!!!GAHHHHHHHH), or Buckner because if he picks up that grounder and steps on the bag the curse is over and Shaughnessy just becomes another shitty boston beat writer.
Wasn't the game already tied up when Buckner made the error? Blaming him for the loss is like blaming Bartman for the Cubs meltdown: both had an effect, yes, but it was a bunch of other fuck ups that cost the team the game.
Grady Little's decision remains inexplicable given that he had three fresh arms in the pen and a 3 run lead.
I wouldn't say it was Bartman level irrelevant but you are right that he didn't "lose" the game. And I would probably say Grady was more responsible, but had Buckner made the play it was likely that the Sox win game six and the series was over.
I dunno, at least now I'll know what to wear if I ever take in a Bosox game.
Too soon huh?
Is the pub a designated in-place shelter?
Presumably this is actually on 2/26, not 2/16.
VP is behind this, she doesn't want us actually showing up.
Jerks.
Nick, any reason you always have to go so far away for these things? Your Ohioan minions want to see your face and touch the hem of your Jacket, Nick.
There's a lot of reasontards in Ohio and WestPA, we should organize a kegger/luncheon/ammo dump some time.
Doesn't the kegger cover lunch?
I wonder how Reason figured out how to skirt those Happy Hour bans in Boston?
reason is calling it a happy hour; that doesn't mean that's what the bar is calling it.
The bar can call it happy hour too, as long as they dont discount drinks.
Or, it's 2 hours long. Is that a loophole?
Ok Nick I expect nut punches from the likes of Balko, but you too?
I mean what's next, telling me Lou Reed is dead?
(that said there is probably no way I can make it which will be a shame, would be nice to meet some of the local Reasonoids)
Ou Ree....wha? WHAT???
I may go if I'm not too tired after a red-eye flight.
I'll be there, I think. Hope to see some of you "guys".
Screw it, I've got no plans on Wednesday, I'll be out of work earlyish anyway, it's only a 20 minute walk from my place and this means I'll have to pass by the apartment of a particularly amorous redhead on the way back. I'm in.
Just don't actually invite the amorous readhead to the bar. Once you've had the Jacket, no other man can hack it.
Pictures or it didn't happen.
He said amorous, not attractive. Be careful what you ask for.
To give you guys something to talk about, ya know that CA O-care website? The wonderful one that's the envy of all the rest?
"Covered California's website back after 5-day shutdown"

"It had been down since Wednesday afternoon because of software problems."

Imagine Amazon's stock price on the second day of a shut down...
Somebody needs to talk to this guy's agent:

Just what ya need; a guy in the huddle listening to voices in his head.
'But god said it was a sweep to the left!'
He pretty much just guaranteed that he won't be on any team. Problem solved.
Talk about calling plays from the sky suite.
We'll get Morgan Freeman to play the part.
Sorry to break it to you, but hours of happiness are illegal in the People's Republic of Massachusetts.
