Arnold Schwarzenegger Rumored to Still Be Interested in Running for President
Looking for a legal challenge to overcome the constitutional prohibition?

The Austrian-born former California governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger may still be interested in running for president. In other words, um, he'll be back?
Action star and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been lobbying for support to change the law to allow him to run for president in 2016, Page Six has exclusively learned.
We're told Ahnold has been openly talking about his political ambitions while in New York to promote his new movie with Sylvester Stallone, "Escape Plan."
One source said: "Schwarzenegger has been talking openly about working on getting the constitutional rules changed so he can run for president in 2016. He is ready to file legal paperwork to challenge the rules."
It's hard to imagine how Schwarzenegger could run for president absent a constitutional amendment, but it would apparently involve the judiciary leaving the issue to the political process.

If the U.S. were to annex Austria, would that make him eligible?
They do have good skiing over there....
Yes. And nice pastries and a rich history of absolutely not being the country where some nasty German--not Austrian--was born.
Isn't Austria the birthplace of pilsner?
I think pilsners are from Pilsen, in the current Czech Republic.
I think you are right.
You know who else was born in Austria?
Erwin Schr?dinger and his penchant for pussy...I mean cats?
Schr?dinger was a play-yah! Thus supporting the idea that the most important sex organ in the human body is the brain, and giving hope to math and science nerds everywhere!
Marie Antoinette?
Ludwig von Mises.
Also, Friedrich Hayek.
Carl Menger?
Joseph Schumpeter?
Eugen von Boehm-Bawerk?
Friedrich Wieser?
Paul Hogan?
Skiing and pastries. I don't know that I require anything more from a country. Annex that shizz, stat!
You'll get tired of the schnitzel real quick.
Never!
Name of Fifty-First State: The Commonwealth of ?sterreich.
State Motto: "Not the Place Where Hitler was Born."
State Animal: The Black Eagle.
State Song: "Edelweiss."
State Cuisine: Apfelstrudel.
State Animal: The Black Eagle.
Racists, all the way down.
I think that may really be their national animal.
Can't we at least call it Osterlich?
Dont forget Austrian economics.
Know who else annexed Austria?
Rand-McNally?
Annexing Austria has been done before, I think. Does anybody remember who might have done it?
The Romans?
Criminals from Britain?
That's Australia.
OK, I know your kidding.
you"re
Me no type so good.
I know his kidding too.
The Ottomans tried.
Charlemagne?
Did you know the Niebelungenlied, of which the Ring Cycle of opera is an elaboration, is based on a pun? The inner fortress of the Avars was called The Ring. The Niebelungenlied is allegory with that pun at the center of it.
The Avars also provide an economics lesson. They plundered neighboring Europe and then just hoarded the proceeds, because they weren't advanced enough to know what to do with money. The resulting deflation sent Europe into a depression that was relieved only when the Carolingians defeated them and liberated the loot.
I think if the American people want to elect a non-native citizen for president they should have that option. Obviously the constitution would need to be amended first.
Obviously the constitution would need to be amended first.
Who are you kidding? SCOTUS can get it done in just a few weeks.
Penal-tax ballot access?
It's a tax.
Maybe natural born just means "not delivered via Caesarian." He's natural born and a citizen. Good to go.
So you mean Baby Reason can never be President?
Good!
"Baby Reason in 2048".
It's the only logical next step for a Hollywood actor turned California Governor.
Everything else in Demolition Man is coming true, why not?
No way, I'm still using toilet paper.
I bet they say that in Venezuela, too.
While governor of CA, Arnie's specialty was caving to the democrats and proposing plans the democrats would have proposed if they'd thought of it first. Since the dems are going to vote for their nominee (whomever that turns out to be) who is going to vote for Arnold?
Illegal Austrians.
Since the dems are going to vote for their nominee (whomever that turns out to be) who is going to vote for Arnold?
He was elected and then reelected as a Republican in a very Blue state. So, lots of people would vote for him.
Not me, but lots of other people.
"While governor of CA, Arnie's specialty was caving to the democrats and proposing plans the democrats would have proposed if they'd thought of it first."
He 'evolved'.
He was elected to fix the budgetary problems, so he tried to do that. And the public said 'You want to fix the problems by taking away MY free shit?!' And promptly shut him down.
After that, it was pretty much as you describe.
While governor of CA, Arnie's specialty was caving to the democrats and proposing plans the democrats would have proposed if they'd thought of it first.
Sounds like he's immenently qualified to be the next GOP nominee.
Sounds pretty much like Reagan or Bush (either one).
Obviously, Ahnold hasn't gotten the memo yet, it's a Clintons turn again this time.
I suppose there could be worse potential presidents than Arnold, but have fun getting that constitutional amendment passed just for you.
Remember, Arnold, when I promised to vote for you? I LIED.
It will be combined with a repeal of the 22nd amendment.
I voted for him, I very quickly regretted it. Especially all of the environmental bullshit.
You are fined one credit for a violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.
Eh, even if he were eligible, Stallone would still carry a majority of the electoral votes.
But Bruce Willis would blow up the Electoral College AND stop the alien invasion from the future at the same time.
Well, to get a constitutional amendment to allow him to run, you'll have to give up something big. Like the 22nd amendment. Repeal the 22nd, and also rewrite the natural born citizen part.
That'll make the 2016 election awesome.
If we rewrite it correctly, maybe we could elect Putin?
Putin doesn't win elections, he defeats them.
Nice
Ugh then I'm going to have to find someone to play Aristogeiton to my Harmodius. Let's not elect Putin.
There's nothing in there about having to wear a shirt.
I don't know why Arnold doesn't just claim he wasn't born in Austria. He should say he was born in New York City while his parents were on vacation. Anyone who would question this would clearly be a conspiracy theorist or racist against Austrians.
What? No comments about how a guy from Kenya was already elected, so no amendment is needed?
and I'm disappointed in the lack of the ever predictable:
Do you know who else was born in Austria?
Wolfgang Puck?
Captain von Trapp?
Christoph Waltz?
Hedy Lamarr?
God yes.
That comment makes you look old.
Maybe he just likes his wi-fi.
That's Hedley!
Dudes and their Mel Brooks. I tell ya.
Its Hedley, HEDLEY!
FA Hayek?
Ludwig von Mises?
Ludwig Wittgenstein?
My Grandfather?
+1 caught me by surprise.
Mine too, when you consider Hungary was part of it then.
Look at the one right above yours
In a slight variation of this meme, I was going to say that he could just wait until 3 years after he's already been elected and produce evidence of his American birth.
Seriously though, the way the Obama birther thing was handled was right fucked regardless of your opinion on its merit. The courts basically enshrined the concept of the honor system since no individual in the United States has standing to challenge eligibility, and there's no requirement to check beforehand.
Hey Arnie,
Lots of people are ineligible to be President. You just happen to be one of them. Why aren't you pushing for an amendment to change the age restriction? Maybe because it all about you?
I'm sure you can get a job at 24-hour Fitness.
I'm not sure who Kimberley Garner is, but she makes me "Oh My" like George Takei!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvs.....-hair.html
Don't think she's from Austria though.
I think you'll be able to see all the goods on the Internet within a few months, she seems to like the camera
A search for her on google images was like all bikini shots. Delish!
I can get behind that.
Never heard of her before, but yeah, nice body.
That woman should be in the dictionary under Butterface.
Not really, that's apparently just not a very good picture of her face. I doubt Sarc's eyes made it that far, though.
Face? What's a face?
Honestly, my eyes almost didn't either. That is pretty much the perfect body.
Eventually, Ahhhnult will cease to be believable as an action hero. He's not an ACTOR, like Eastwood, so he will be forced to retire.
Why should he sit around counting his money when he could be in the White House, spending ours?
Something like 10 years ago? Wasn't he just CG in the last terminator movie (that I never saw, and never happened, like all the other ones except 1 and 2)
God, that movie was unbelievable awful. If there were any justice in this world, McG (wtf kind of name is that?) would be flipping burgers at McDonalds.
Hey! T3 was perfectly fine and even had magnetism. Salvation OTOH was awful.
Hey, he's just following in the footsteps of Honest Abe Lincoln. What he wants to do may not be specifically allowed by the Constitution (or even somewhat prohibited by it), but go ahead and do it and see how the people vote, because democracy trumps dusty old papers (except when people vote to leave the perpetual and sacred union formed by those papers).
The googles, they do nuththink!
Constiwhat?
Arnie is just as delusional as Biden.
Yeah, why the fuck not?
Hey Playa, and Francisco, and Brooks - what kind of jacket should I get for UT mountains in February? I don't think my current jacket is going to be sufficiently warm. I'm leaning toward these here Columbia Interchange jackets and long johns as needed.
I don't really think you need a new jacket (but I can tell you really want one).
I would say wear lots of layers instead. The daytime temperatures are highly variable. I've skied there in Feb when the daytime high was 4, and I've also had a daytime high of 62 in Feb...
Oh, and for the 4 degree day, my layering was tshirt, thermal, long sleeve t, fleece, and jacket that is 20 years old (north face I think). I was toasty all day and into the evening (they do have night skiing there...)
Well, I do want a new jacket, but my current one tends to also let cold air go up my back when I'm on the lift.
And I really, really hope that it's not 62 when I'm there! Anywhere between 10 and 25 would be ideal for me.
I clicked the link. It does look like a very nice jacket.
I wear a Columbia shell and just add fleece underneath as required. It's a lot easier to modulate that way. I've used that method from -15 to 60.
If you get a shell, make sure it has pit zips.
He was elected to lead, not to read! And I will give Arnold credit for at least trying to fix the state's budget problems in his first term before he was bitch slapped by the unions and the Democrats turned on him.
I'd be willing to trade some environmental bullshit laws if it meant reforming the public sector and bringing some fiscal responsibility to Sacramento.
He put the final nail in his own coffin when he pardoned Fabian Nunez's son on his last night in office.
I will say this for him: the whining and outrage I saw in some of my high school teachers over some of his proposals really disgusted me and probably set me down the path towards libertarianism.
I've always disliked whiny, entitled people and this one English teacher in particular could not shutup about how evil Arnie was for wanting to 'crush the teachers' unions'.
In a more just world, high school teachers would get fired for sharing their political beliefs with students.
Where did you go to H.S.?
John F. Kennedy High School in La Palma.
The thing was this particular English teacher was the adviser for the school newspaper. As you can imagine they editorials were very negative about the governor and that special election he called.
Why doesn't he just run for the Senate?
If he promises to body slam Al Franken and John McCain, I'm in.
OK, I'm totally in the bag for Arnie if he can replace Feinstein or Boxer.
Arnie will cut der budget. With a 15 1/2" "Dutch Schaefer" knife.
He hasn't run for Senate because he is an "action" hero, not a "deliberation" hero, don't you see. I would vote for Arnie for Senate, given that our venal "top two" voting regime here in CA would almost certainly knock off all independents and third party candidates in the primaries. But I certainly don't think the potential of having President Schwarzenegger is worth amending the Constitution to accommodate him.
An "action" hero? As in a "rubber" doll?
what kind of jacket should I get for UT mountains in February?
I have some kind of L L Bean jacket which I reserve almost exclusively for skiing. It is thin, lightweight, toasty warm, has plenty of freedom in back and shoulders, and is astonishingly wind resistant. It came with a hood, which I immediately removed and threw away.
I have no idea what the model designation is.
And, yes, early spring in the Rockies can throw you some curves, weatherwise. I spent spring break in Crested Butte a million years ago, and the conditions ranged from t-shirt skiing to knee deep fresh powder.
Maybe I'll just stick with my current jacket and get some Under Armor and fleece. The jacket is - shall we say - voluminous, so I can put a crapload of layers under it without losing range of motion.
The Austrian-born former California governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger may still be interested in running for president.
Hey, why not? Barry got in.
What a video it is! Genuinely awesome and fastidious quality, please upload more video clips having such nice quality. Thanks.
