Er, is that really something you should be joking about?

Or are you trying to get on Chinese state run TV in addition to Russia’s?

    1. Snark Plissken   12 years ago

Yes, I agree that Charles was being tasteless.

To paraphrase Anthony Jeselnick, “When there’s a subject we shouldn’t make a joke about….we make a whole BUNCH of jokes about it….”

      Lighten up, Francis.

Afterwards the police were heard to say:

“You not arive, and this not ah Memorex!”

Here in a more civilized country, they would be “punished” with a paid vacation after something like that.

I wonder if little Tommy Friedman is a fan of the Dalai Lama?

Last week’s events in Tibet were truly historic, although we may not know for years or even decades what their final meaning is. What’s important, however, is that we focus on what these events mean on the ground. The Republicans in Congress seem too caught up in hostage-taking to pay attention to the important effects on daily life. Just call it missing the Buddhists for the Bullion.

The headline is in incredibly poor taste, as is putting this news item under “Brickbats” at all. Isn’t that supposed to be for eyerolling news items, like the kid who was suspended for having a key chain with a toy gun the size of a quarter on it? A man was beaten to death. For possessing a recording of speeches. And the joke here is that the recording technology involved (a cassette) is obsolete? Gee, if only he’d used even more obsolete technology, like an 8-track, he’d have been ok! Ha-ha! Those wacky, impoverished foreigners, who can’t afford iPhones!
