Minneapolis SWAT Officers With History of Misconduct Expected Preferential Treatment From Green Bay Cops After Street Scuffle

Two off-duty Minneapolis cops got into an altercation in Green Bay and were not pleased the local cops wouldn't automatically take their side. From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
According to the [police] report: [Shawn] Powell and [Brian] Thole said they had gone out drinking when they passed a group of nine black men on the sidewalk shortly after 1 a.m. One of them bumped into one of the officers, who then traded words with the group. One of the black men then approached the officers with his chest puffed out and more words were spoken. Saying he feared for his safety, one of the Minneapolis officers punched the man in the face.
Several Green Bay officers responded to the confrontation in downtown Green Bay. The Minneapolis officers were agitated and complained that the local police weren't doing enough to find the men involved in the confrontation.
"We're police officers," one said. "I punched him in the face and I will do it again."
One of the Minneapolis officers said the men involved in the altercation "were doing their monkey thing."
A Green Bay police officer reported afterward that the Minneapolis cops "expected preferential treatment" and had pointed out "several times that they were full-time SWAT officers." The Minneapolis officers were told to go back to their hotel, but as they left they told Green Bay police officers to [expletive] off and gave one of them the finger.
The two Minneapolis cops didn't want Green Bay police taking their names to use in the police report either, claiming that their lesbian police chief was looking for any reason to fire cops. The two were warned if anyone were arrested it would be them, for disorderly conduct, which set them off about their "First Amendment rights." One of the Green Bay cops said he was concerned the two would become violent.
Both Minneapolis cops are being sued separately for misconduct; Thole participated in a no-knock raid last year while Powell was one of several officers involved in a fatal 2009 police shooting. Both of those cases are in litigation. Powell was also involved in the beating of Derryl Jenkins, which was settled for $235,000. In April, the leader of their SWAT team was convicted of assault.
Thole and Powell have now reportedly been removed from the SWAT team and put on vacation suspended with pay.

Cops known to trample on rights get busted for being dicks and complain about their rights being violated.
Let me play a sad song for you, I'll go get my violin. Just wait here, I'll be riight back.
The few, the proud, the privileged.
I'll accompany you on my trombone. (insert sad sound here)
Keep your hands where we can see them!
I am really surprised the other men haven't been charged with assaulting a police officer. Is this actually good news?
He attacked my fist with his face!
Look at how he bruised it with his cheekbone! I demand disability pay!
Now that's not a way to treat heroes, no?
Does not compute...
The two were warned if anyone were arrested it would be them, for disorderly conduct, which set them off about their "First Amendment rights."
And you guys claim that cops don't read the Constitution.
They just move their mouths and pretend they're reading. Actually they just look at the pictures.
What a massive sense of entitlement! Almost as if they were accustomed to special treatment and were outraged when they didn't get it.
And what would have happened to "civilians" who boasted of committing an assault, told investigating cops to f off, flipped them the "we're No. 1" signal, then came back to the police station to continue venting their outrage?
Why, I bet that if "civilians" had behaved this way, the cops would have...filed a report on their misconduct!
If I ever felt the strange desire to be tased or shot, I think that would be a great plan.
Saying he feared for his safety, one of the Minneapolis officers punched the man in the face.
I'm not trained in the mysteries of the Force Continuum, but sucker punching a guy in front of his friends when you're outnumbered and far from home does not seem like a good way to make yourself safer.
The cop didn't take, from what I read, to kindly to being bumped into. I have no idea what the context was, but heaven forbid these two boneheads act, you know, professionally and keep walking.
But noooo, they had to show how tough they were. Fuck me.
Whenever I'm in a confrontation with nine black men, I know the safest thing to do is start throwing punches.
Once again the double standard is being applied equally to everyone. How can you complain?
The report does not mention whether the Minneapolis pigs were carrying.
I wonder why.
Probably not. If they were, the guys they assaulted would have been shot, not punched.
Then again, they were outnumbered, sucker punched a guy, and didn't get their asses kicked, so maybe they were carrying.
That's possible, but my guess is that either the other guys just didn't want to actually fight anyone or they somehow knew they were cops and knew it would turn out badly if they kicked their asses.
Do you really think that if the cops had been armed, they wouldn't have used them. Especially SWAT cops.
Two SWAT cops with Glocks, most likely; 32 rounds? Not nearly enough ammo to take out nine guys.
Those two sound just charming.
Those Green Bay cops were just still pissed about Favre.
Those Green Bay Minneapolis cops were just still pissed about Favre's mere existence on earth.
He was really good for them for about 17.9 games. Then he did his end-of-playoff-game thing and threw the ball to the wrong team.
That entire season was a brilliant work of sabotage by Favre. Fuck that guy.
Swat! Fuck yeah!
And to think they have their own show. Am I the only one who would watch in horror? Heavily armed and hyped on their own vainglory busting down doors of wretched people with little hope in life is not my idea of maintaining civil order.
But that's just me.
Just exactly the sort of men you'd want running around with machine guns making life and death decisions.
Wait... cops from *Minneapolis* expected special treatment from cops in Green Bay? Would it be redundant to say those cops are not too bright?
Their biggest problem was actually that they were from Minneapolis, and in Green Bay. Packers fans hate Vikings fans with a vengeance.
Let's see:
Threw the first punch. That's assault right there. Now, I have to say that the Green Bay cops are not exactly unacquainted with bar-related brawls, and I can't fault them for not arresting anyone, regardless of their membership in the Master Class. I think they handled these two about right.
Mouthed off to the cops. Again, I applaud the Green Bay cops for not arresting them, and suspect that this is pretty much how they treat most people, although I suspect that this was the second of three strikes.
The double standard is really on display back home, where these two were still hitting the streets all tooled up even though they were being sued for shooting someone. Out in the real world, catching a massive lawsuit gets you fired.
"We're police officers," one said. "I punched him in the face and I will do it again."
Wow. Just...wow.
"I felt threatened because of my small dick, so I punched him." This is not how normal people operate.

Members of the Warrior Caste are allowed to abuse and kill Peasants who "disrespect" them, like the Samurai of the Edo Period.
