Audit the IRS Rally: "Hey Boehner Try Growen a Pair!!"
I stopped by the Audit the IRS rally today at the Capitol Building in D.C. Here's part of what I saw.
I left before most of the speakers began, so I can't comment on that, but a lot of the crowd and signage seemed to be as geared toward questions about immigration reform as it was about reducing spending and the intrusion of government bureaucracy into the daily life of Americans.
That broadening in focus is unfortunate. As the website of rally organizer Tea Party Patriot attests, the group seems as exercised by pending immigration reform as by spending (the issue that actually sparked the tea party movement). As Matt Welch and I wrote in The Declaration of Independents: How Libertarian Politics Can Fix What's Wrong With America, the power of rapid- and intense-response coalitions is directly related to their ability to target a specific issue and stick to it. As with the old rainbow coalitions of the left (where a rally about, say, the minimum wage would devolve into a general gripe session about vaccination, El Salvador, and the Christic Institute), the broader the set of issues engaged at any one time, the less impact you're going to have.

This screencap personifies the progressives view of Tea Party America.
And the media loves it.
Growen? Did I miss a joke or is this person retarded, everyone knows it's growin.
"Hay Boner! Try Growin' A Pare"
It's the Middle English past participle form.
Geez, don't they teach Chaucer anymore?
Actually, my undergrad institution had (still has?) a Chaucer class. The class had a reputation for lengthy discussions about the professor's dildo collection.
Do any of them include a blue spiky scrotum?
I left before most of the speakers began, so I can't comment on that,
Then how do you know it wasn't focused? Should they have banned all signage and handed out approved signage? All the organizers can do is control the reason for the march and the message of the speakers they choose. They can't really control what signs people want to bring.
Yeah, especially at the Capitol considering on any given day there are multiple groups protesting things ranging from abortion to male circumcision.
and deep-dish pizza.
And by the way, everyone knows that Tom Baker was a better Doctor than all those modern wannabe Doctors put together.
Until we know Tom Baker's views on deep dish pizza, this will have to remain unresolved.
"questions about immigration reform as it was about reducing spending and the intrusion of government bureaucracy into the daily life of Americans"
Immigration is not related to govt spending and govt intrusion?
Just ignore the giant e-verify system behind the curtain.
You mean the system that most of the folks at the Xenophobe Rally probably support?
Yeah that system all of the open borders people are learning to love because it is part of the amnesty they want. You know, all of those "civil libertarians" who will happily make every American get permission to get a job in return for amnesty.
that system all of the open borders people are learning to love because it is part of the amnesty they want
Lies stacked on top of strawmen.
Yeah, all of the open borders people have revolted against the immigration bill. I guess it is just all of the xenophobes who support it.
You are the one laying with John McCain, not me. Not my fault you caught his fleas.
Well, to be fair, most libertarian open-borders people (myself included) are not learning to love e-verify at all. Under no circumstance would I ever make that compromise.
John is not interested in what we actually think. Just as the peacenazis think anyone not like them drinks brown baby blood, John and the other nativists think anyone not like them is a transnational leftist out to impose E-verify and foreign occupation on us all.
Just because you personally don't, doesn't mean most open borders people don't. You act like everyone who objects to open borders is some kind of a xenophobe. But then you refuse to admit the awful things open borders people support.
Citation needed.
http://www.schumer.senate.gov/.....ration.pdf
How about that HM. Is that horrible enough for you? That is the bill. Who is supporting it if not people who want open borders?
If you are going to slander every person who objects to open borders as a xenophobe, then fuck you you can be slander by the fact that the supporters of amnesty want to turn the country into a police state.
ITT, John uses gross overgeneralizations to slander the Freedom Movement.
Schumer =/= all open border advokitties.
Cytoxic,
Does the bill not exist? Does it not have support of every open borders crap weasel in Congress? Do you really think people like Dalmai wouldn't gladly see the bill get passed if the alternative was doing nothing? Hell yes they would I don't care how many crocodile tears they cry over Everify.
1) There are no open borders advocates in Congress, your fevered delusions aside.
2) Reason writers including Dalmia have bemoaned E-verify many times and many consider the current bill watered down and compromised into garbage for other reasons. But it's clear that you've substituted your own reality for what others actually think.
Wait, so those of us on here that are for open borders are guilty by association as well? Damn, that sucks.
Wait, so those of us on here that are for open borders are guilty by association as well? Damn, that sucks.
That all depends. Maybe if you would stop calling anyone who objects to open borders a xenophobe, you might have a bit better standing to object to being slandered yourself.
I never called people against open borders Xenophobes. I just say they don't believe in free markets and want to play protectionist for lazy American workers.
People who want the government to have more power over people's lives.
That doesn't happen except in your mind.
First off the bill is not "amnesty" in any shape or form.
People who want the government to have more power over people's lives.
And that group can't include supporters of open borders? Is supporting open borders some kind of Lordes for moral cripples? Does it necessarily mean you would never sell out other values, or hope for undesirable ends?
What a miraculous position that is. Or maybe you guys are in bed with a bunch of fucking scumbags.
Yes, because by definition a belief in open borders is a belief in lessening government's power over people.
Or perhaps you're misattributing the term to people who don't actually believe in open borders.
We're always in bed with scumbags John. The ones who want to do the right thing for the wrong reasons are our tools, to be disposed of when they are no longer useful to us. That only proves just how dedicated to freedom we are.
You cast a pretty wide net there when you said "most open borders people" support e-verify. You should have expected the backlash.
That goes double for accusing us all of calling people that disagree with us xenophobic.
"Anger is more useful than despair."
Any "Hands off my Medicare" signs?
So is that supposed to be a pun on something or is that chick just retarded?
Also, I'm fairly sure John Boehner has regular access to many, many balls whenever he wants, so I'm not sure what he would gain by growen a pair of his own.
Maybe it's supposed to be a phoenetic accent?
Well, I do imagine his to be "blue"...but spiky?
Any estimate on numbers? Looks paltry.
Apparently it was pretty sizeable.
Note the general lack of people in costume or with nutty signs.
How does that vine shit work? Never plays back on iPad.
It's just an mp4. iPad can't handle that?
Mp4 work just fine.
Maybe you need to download the app...?
I did. Didn't sign up for an account though. It just sots there.
Hardly massive compared to previous rallies, but not bad especially for a weekday. And the lack of costumes was a relief indeed.
Wait, was this the 'good guys' crowd or the Rally For Xenophobia or both?
There were more people at my gay pride parade and my city isn't even that big.
That broadening in focus is unfortunate.
The Tea Party Movement's motto.
Not only does John Boehner have enormous blue balls, they are also quite spiky. It must be very uncomfortable for him to wear slacks.
"I know now why you cry, John Boehner."
Oh shit I'm glad no one's in the office to hear me laugh!
I looked at the pic three times before I saw them. And then I wished I hadn't.
When I imagine that picture of Boner with is tear...I can hear his voice, with that echoey 'it's in his head' soundeffect saying 'They're so spiky today'.
And the camera zooms into his thousand-yard stare.
The blue really clashes with his otherwise orange complexion.
You went to a picture just to find a pair of balls? You sick fuck.
Freedom for me, but not for thee.
According to the teabaggers at cbsatlanta.com, the speakers at the Audit the IRS talked about...auditing the IRS. And Rand Paul was one of the speakers.
http://www.cbsatlanta.com/stor.....held-in-dc
Don't bother the Jacket with the facts. There were icky people at that rally, so he is now free to ignore it.
Nick certainly is prone to fatuous shoot-from-the-hip 'reporting' that's for sure.
How do you know he found them "icky"? Maybe he posted that picture because he found the woman's sign amusing?
Geez, did someone run over your dog today or something?
Because he slandered the who rally without even staying to listen to the speeches. He showed up, looked around, saw a few people who didn't fit his description of respectable holding signs that supported things he didn't like, and left writing a post saying the whole thing was a waste of time.
Noting that many in the Tea Party are focusing on immigration reform and believing that such a focus distracts from their tax reform message is slander?
Did both your cat and your dog get run over today?
he slandered the who rally without even staying to listen to the speeches
The Who had a rally today too?
No, What had a rally today, Who had a sit-in.
But WHERE?!?
Obviously a few people with off topic signs is far more important.
Hey, people have you seen my balls
They're big and spikey and blue.
If you ever wanna know how Congress works
Just put my balls inside you!
Ooh, suck on my big blue spikey balls
(put 'em in your mouth)
Put em in your mouth and suck 'em and suck 'em.
/Isaac Hayes-John Boehner duet
You owe me a new keyboard and monitor to replace the one I just spewed water on you fucker.
"I left before most of the speakers began"
...so you missed Sen. Rand Paul:

I cannot fathom why the Republican party poisoned its own chances at participating in immigration reform. Boner certainly needs to grow a pair, but not for the sake of being more hardline on immigration, but for the sake of sitting down with the racist teabaggers in Congress and telling them to shut the fuck up before the Republican party disappears forever.
