OWS vs. Romneybots Outside GOP Concord Debate
CONCORD, NH –Loud, sign-waving supporters of the Republican presidential candidates created a festive atmosphere here outside this morning's NBC debate. The impressive turnout filled both sidewalks outside the Capitol Centre for the Arts. Supporters of the Republican candidates were not alone. Activists from the United Auto Workers and the Occupy movement were in attendance, bothering Romney supporters with an unoriginal chant:
"Hey hey! Hoho! Romney greed has got to go," they shouted while mingling with the Romney people.
Romney supporters tried to drown out the protestors, but they failed. The frontrunner's team needs to work on its chant coordination.
Supporters for Romney's one time major rival, Rick Perry, were nowhere in sight. The Texas governor has all but given up on New Hampshire.
Across the street Orthodox Jews from the organization Neturei Karta International were protesting Israel. They have been in the Granite State since yesterday and they plan on going to events for Romney and Ron Paul later in the day. According to photocopied flyers they were passing out they are an "anti-Zionist Jewish" organization.
The Paul supporters were out in force passing out the legendary Super Brochure as well as waving homemade signs. One large sign on the back of truck touted Paul's strong support from the military. The Brochure is a double sided glossy pamphlet the size of two regular sheets of paper. Nobody from any of the other candidates or protest groups outside the debate was handing out anything as intricate as this.
"This has information, if you're trying to educate yourself this is it," said Manchester native Ann Buchman after I asked her about the small font in the brochure.
The 27-year-old welder called the brochure a great tool to help persuade people. "It's not geared toward one specific topic," she noted. "It's got the range of his beliefs."
"And the pictures, are awesome," she said.
In the spin room after the debate, Mitt Romney and Sen. Scott Brown advisor Eric Fehrnstrom said he is confident that Brown (R-Massachusetts) will defend his Senate seat against Elizabeth Warren this November because "people are comfortable with" his brand of Republicanism:
Also in the spin room, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) declined to say how his foreign policy differs from his father's:

Tim Tebow is a Christ-fag that's about to steal this playoff game from the Pittsburgh steel workers!
Christ fag is going to beat the "didn't" rape her guy.
The Cheatlers clearly bought off the refs. I hate every pro team from Pittsburg.
And even buying the refs wasnt good enough (how the fuck do you blow the whistle on an obvious lateral?).
The Paul people should grab that Ann Buchman. She's great.
+1
I see Ann Buchman has been hypnotized by this "hyperinflation" nonsense Ron Paul has been wrong about for 20 years.
I liked when she said "I'm for his principles, not the man. But it has to be Ron Paul and not Gary Johnson".
I'll put her in the reefer loving corner of the LP.
Hey, if Paul was right wouldn't the sells of wheelbarrows be going through the roof? Well, they're not!
Dear Asshole Shrike,
I'm paying $3.50/gallon for gasoline and around 25% more for groceries than I was a year ago. Go fuck yourself.
I like this infographic - ammo, gas and gold. Yeah, no inflation.
http://ammo.net/ammunition
But still less than 2008 for nearly all food and energy.
That is not inflation. It is called price variance. Supply and demand effect prices! Learn about it!
Go suck Krugman's cock, shrike.
The market is the Supreme Being when it comes to product pricing.
I don't see how you inflationistas can argue with that statement.
Hey schmuck, maybe the low inflation rates wouldn't matter is the fucking real interest rates weren't negative. Guy who manipulates the interest rates? THE FEDERAL RESERVE.
Quantity Theory of Money. How does it work?
Whatever, shrike.
Cut out all that demand from the 20% who get their groceries on a "state credit card" and food prices wouldn't be quite so high.
Maybe - but the Senate Ag Committee won't let that happen.
Saxby to the rescue of the deserving poor agribusiness.
The difference between 2008 and now may be price variance (more accurately, though, it is due to the deflationary crunch of the attempted debt liquidation that the Fed and the Obama administration). The difference between 1999 and now is definitely NOT.
Strange glitch there - that should read attempted debt liquidation that the Fed and the Obama administration are doing everything they can to prevent.
You will have to thank the Japanese and Chinese central bank for buying up all those extra dollars.
"reefer loving"
Spoken like a law'n'order Christ-fag.

Federal spending in 1991: $1.32 trillion
--Defense: $320 billion
--Pensions: $289 billion
--Healthcare: $175 billion
--Welfare: $116 billion
--Cost of federal government per capita: $5,038
Federal spending in 2010: $3.45 trillion
--Defense: $847 billion
--Pensions: $749 billion
--Healthcare: $820 billion
--Welfare: $502 billion
--Cost of federal government per capita: $11,194
The math says you're full of shit.
The Maths is racist. Unlike the Cultural Studies.
Math is HARD! LOL!

I wish I had been as wrong as Paul about this. He went into gold mining stocks 10 years ago, so he's probably enjoyed at least 700% returns on this mistake.
so, hate Santorum and newt and Perry. Don't like mitt- slimy. Huntsman came off as ok, but not my cuppa. Still looks like a Johnson vote for me.
So your voting decision is based on personal feelings toward candidates.
As opposed to....
what would it take for a libertarian to carry a state? Best state candidate? Discuss amongst yourselves...
Texas is the only titan state where a libertarian has a chance at a win. He has to be socially conservative, sure, but Ron Paul-esque people have a shot there. Other than that, no other titan state, I don't think. New Hampshire? Yeah.
Shit, Texas wouldn't elect Kinky Friedman. Probably because of the "Texas Jewboys" thing.
Honestly, FIFY, of all the states, which one is overall the best in your opinion? I'm going to have to take Texas, because while New Hampshire might be made of win, it's too underpopulated (area really doesn't matter -- look at Israel's power) to be of consequence.
Concur.
I mentioned that, Res, because I like Kinky Friedman, even if he is a tad leftish. The man's got chutzpah, yo.
Yeah, he's pretty slick. He's the sort of guy that manages to make you like him despite politics you might rabidly disagree with, even when he's talking politics. He's the anti-Santorum.
OT: And you know what pisses me the fuck? Texas' carry laws. FUUUUUUU *rage* FUUUUU
Oh, I wouldn't *vote* for him... but I still like him. For a lefty, he's not anywhere near Bernie Sanders-level stoopid insane.
Best for what?
Alaska's pretty decent for libertarian politics, Montana too from what I hear. I would think Idaho and Wyoming would be decent too.
but I don't like mountains
For your group meetings? Sure. But Alaska's economic regulatory framework is fairly fucked up, and Montana's tight on civil liberties by the standards of the midwest, for example. Wyoming, again, although it's been getting better and better, is far too underpopulated to be consequential in the larger sense.
Note that when I say "fucked up", or judge how good it is, I mean comparatively (with all the other states/territories), because by our/my standards, every state is fucked up.
Well, Texas has those gambling SWAT raids. don't they also have the sex toy contraband laws?
"Well, Texas has those gambling SWAT raids. don't they also have the sex toy contraband laws?"
Come visit and tell me how well-enforced that ordinance is..
OK, but I have to go shopping for some stuff first.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330641,00.html
If that's what you were referring to.
Also, if I recall correctly, and although it has the same paramilitarization problem in law enforcement as other states, abuse has been low, especially compared to states like Arizona (which is a generally good place, too, and so it sucks and hurts my bleeding heart even more).
The thing with Texas, Tulpa, and some other midwestern and southern states, is that when people like us, or the typical liberal, or the centrist, or even the apolitical observer look at them and consider them, they might think it's all decent/good/great, EXCEPT that this and that and this and this, THOSE few things, are really fucked up there.
"Like, who bans sex toys, man? That's stupid, bro! Wait, BLUE LAWS? HAHA! Rednecks are SOOOOO DUUUUM!!!!! Wait -- no same-sex marriage? Fuck this shit, I'M MOVING TO CUBA!"
And yes, these laws and regulations and polices are ludicrous and unjustifiable, but everybody seems to forget that for every flaw and quirk of that sort in Texas or Kentucky, New York has 10, New Jersey has 20, and the District of Columbia has 100, but in far more substantial and ignored areas, like occupational licensure, or economic regulations pertaining to the conditions for registering and opening a shop selling [insert product] -- everything from contract laws to zoning bureaucracies and God-awful, unnavigable, de facto inoperable gun purchase and/or permitting regimes.
If I were the power to take the laws of Texas, eliminate all the laws of all the other states, and place those Texan laws in the place of the former frameworks of the other states, and in exchange had to ban sex toys and tell evangelical radicals how much the fags suck, I'd do it today, tomorrow, and every day of the week.
Sounds great, unless you're an adult who enjoys using sex toys and/or gay. But hey, they're not my sacred cows!
To avoid an unnecessary argument, let's just clear this up first: did you understand the point and context of that statement, or did you just get prissy?
In case you didn't, here's an explanation: One set of really shitty laws gets replaced by a set of less shitty laws -- and although the less shitty laws are still shitty, they're less shitty than the ones they replaced, so it's still a huge gain.
I'm glad we had this discussion.
The shittiness of a law is directly proportional to how much it interferes with one's daily life. A non-gun owning gay man might prefer to live under N.Y.'s shitty laws as opposed to Texas' shitty laws, due to this, yes?
Not unless all he does is play with his vibrators and makes love to his boyfriend on public benches.
*make
Well, we are talking about a gay New Yorker here...
Not unless all he does is play with his vibrators and makes love to his boyfriend on public benches.
I've milked my lizard far more times than I've shot my gun.
The problem is the shittyness is still all relative. You're always going to have to choose what's more important for you, which is of course different for everyone. Until the idea of a single principle of liberty from which everything logically derives becomes more popular, as opposed to piecemeal freedom on a whim (i.e. laws of the particulars), this will always be a problem.
Ironically, being piecemeal as they are then, the less tolerance people have for various shitty laws, and the more they resolve the issue by moving elsewhere (which is understandable), the worse the biases get. You end up with stronger correlations of A coupled with B and X coupled with Y types of laws in various states.
You know, it would be great if something like the Free State Project actually happened on a massive scale. Until something drastic happens, I guess we'll keep seeing A and B, no X or Y, or X and Y, no A and B.
To yours and np's point...I see no problem with that, for the most part. American regionalism, local control, and all that jazz. It is due to a top heavy Federal government that we have some of the problems that we do.
I guess we have to start somewhere, and to be honest, I'm leaning further and further towards gaining general control of a titan state (the term I use to denote economically and culturally definitive and powerful states, or ones that would make powerful independent countries), and Texas is getting more and more realistic, I think.
Who knows? Maybe on some day soon, Mulatto, dildo-loving exhibitionist homosexuals will be able to carry guns concealed without a license while drinking alcohol openly.
I'd lean toward the opposite and try for smaller states with less of a population, say Idaho, Montana, Wyoming. I say this because no matter what the size, every state gets 2 Senators. So, with all the effort it takes to take down a Titan, you could focus on a handful of states and pick up anywhere from 3 to 6 Senators.

I concur, which is why I wonder if Free State shouldn't have chosen Wyoming.
Hey -- how about we do both? Take down a titan state AND grow in the underpopulated states?
Colorado, Washington, or Oregon would be the best bet. Texas is just TOO big. There are 10s of millions of backwards fundangelicals clogging it up. Especially in the heavily populated eastern Dallas and Houston zones.
When then it's probably a good thing that both Montana AND Wyoming are mostly open prairie.
How about getting an interview with State Rep. Jenn Coffey?
Via HuffPo, more reasons to slap OWS:

I agree - I despise those idiots (like the writer) moaning about the "supreme swindle" and how the "banksters" conned all the poor citizens into signing those NINJA/Liar loans.
I have particular disdain for Matt Taibbi - a snotty little liar who makes coin from telling the OWS crowd that Goldman Sachs ruined their lives - when Goldman has no consumer business and wouldn't take a $10,000 deposit from a OWS if they begged them to.

Let me closely examine your country's fiscal symptoms and prescribe the medicine. I cannot wait to thoroughly probe the Federal Reserve until it collapses from exhaustion. Catch the applause not the clap with me, vice versa with the doctor above.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
FUCK THE STEELERS
TEBOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW puts New England into the AFC Championship game.
THANKS JEEBUS
Nitpick: it's only the divisional round. Denver has to beat New England next week to make it to the AFC Championship game.
I think Fluffy is implying--and I agree--that the Patriots will annihilate the Broncos next week, whereas the Steelers would have been harder to beat.
But if they somehow lose to Tebow...fuck, the Tebow ridiculousness will go off the charts.
Please help us Obi Belichik, you are our only hope.
Belichik is one of the primary vectors of NFLAids. See Charlie Weis as an example.
Hopefully O'Brien does spread the disease to Pitt. Oh wait, the Stache already did that.
Opps, Penn St, I mean. Wanny took care of Pitt, Penn St is still "clean" for now.
For obvious reasons, I have a history of not caring very much about the playoffs. Continued Tebowmania might make them interesting, though. I think maybe I hope He wins next week.
Do you delight in causing me pain? This Tebow stupidity must end! Or else I'll have to just get into it myself and take a ride on the Tebow Train.
That came out a little wrong.
Do you delight in causing me pain?
Of course. Do you not have any idea how punchable you are? 0.8 Yglesias.
Only 0.8?!?
If it makes you feel better, you're 1.9 Kleins and 0.04 Mahers.
OT:
Hey BakedPenguin, IM THIRSTY!
Special props to my fellow Jacket, Demaryius Thomas, for helping me out.
BTW, I called the play before OT.
Tebow to Thomas for 80 yards and the TD.
Also Fuck Phil Simms.
I dont care that we grew up two blocks apart, you say Thomas went to UCF instead of GT and you can rot in hell.
Yeah WTF.
Now that Ive won my bet, and the first step towards curing NFLAids has occurred, Denver can feel free to cut Tebow for all I care.
I don't care about Tebow but I'm glad not to have to put up with the Steelers fans at the bar for the rest of the playoffs.
You mean a full 3 hours or so of someone screaming "STILLERS!! BRADSHAW!! ROETHLISBERGER!! STILLERS!!" doesn't provide you with much needed cultural enrichment?
IKR. When the game started, I was hoping both teams would miraculously lose. I'm tired of all the talk about Tebow, and I can't stand 3/4 of the Steelers fans I've met. I guess enduring ONE more week of Tebow talk is worth not hearing the Steelers fans.
I want Epi, SF, and Warty back, and Tebow gone.
You mean the people who have already posted in this thread?
Next time, ask them to take you on their cruise with them. They're having tons of fun.

Yes. You mean not allowing reason to run scripts in my browser, because it makes performance suck, keeps me from seeing their names on posts?
The names are produced by scripts?
This design is even worse than I thought.
Hey Hey ho ho, this chant has got to go!
I offer you riches beyond compare, old friend.
I offer you the nations of the Earth.
I offer you a Lear Jet, Jesus, take it or leave it. Amenities, broads, booze and cocaine on every flight. Last offer.
Damn. Final offer. Superbowl winning quarterback in the NFL.
Oh, so we now have a deal!
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) declined to say how his foreign policy differs from his father's:
Interesting...
Why? Its his father's event. Why on earth would he want to talk about where he and his father differ?
The same reason Trent Lott should have talked about how he favored racial integration at Strom Thurmond's birthday party.
There is NO GOOD that could come of that. It would instantly be used as a wedge to try and discredit Daddy Paul now, and perhaps Sonny Paul later on.
For your amusement; SF local politics kerfuffle:
Ross Mirkarimi, termed-out, "progressive" supervisor runs for Sheriff and wins (since dog-catcher was not a gimme, and he could rely on the "progressive" votes).
Gets busted for spousal abuse before swearing-in and Feinstein offspring bows out of officiating (yep, HER offspring; judges are elected in SF)
Cat-fight in process, probably good for laughs for the next several weeks (except for wife, who may suffer more 'discussions'):
BUT by getting sworn in, he is now eligible for bene's for being
sheriff for at least a minute along with the bene's from being supervisor. What fun!

Did the threads just get pruned?
Those guys are clearly rocking it on over there. Wow.

Are those guys against zionist jews out of the country?!? I'll make sure they never teach again!
Across the street Orthodox Jews from the organization Neturei Karta International were protesting Israel.
Please do not describe Neturei Karta as Orthodox Jews. "Orthodox" in general means conforming to the original doctrines or principals of a religious faith. By providing material and moral support to the worst enemies of the Jewish people, Neturei Karta has rejected a number of core principals of the Jewish faith.
