This is probably true. I knew the film rights were optioned many years ago, but such contracts have expiration dates, so who knows who has them now.

By the way, Graham Greene once said that having his books optioned for movies but never made was the ideal situation: he got money but didn't have to suffer the embarrassment of seeing his story butchered.
