Sunday Morning Nut-Punch
Here's an enraging video in which NYPD cops pull over and cite a bicyclist for, according to the NYC the Blog, briefly riding on the sidewalk. Shortly after the stop, a passerby engages in some friendly jibes with the bicyclist. One of the cops apparently thought the passerby was talking to him (not that this would have excused the thuggery that follows). An ugly confrontation ensues, eventually leading to a full-blown "situation", involving by my count six cops, two cruisers and a police van. All because of a joke.
According to the person who posted the video to YouTube, the passerby was arrested and charged with "harassment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest", a trio of charges more commonly known as contempt of cop.

You know, Radley, the weekends are supposed to be our recovery time from these nut punches. Have a heart, will ya?
Owww, my balls!
I'm so happy I don't have balls.
good thing i waited til monday to view this...
fits right in with tax day...
since when do you have to have an ID when walking the street. Shit man. I'm about to go to downtown DC to dance in the streets, I'm not carrying any ID with me. Fuck that shit.
Seven weeks ago, a pig crashed into a taxicab and blamed the cab driver for being inattentive and making change, and running a red light.
Now it can be revealed that the pig was the one who ran the red light.
Good thing it was filmed (and better that the person filming was not noticed by the cops). Looks like it was the cops who were guilty of "harassment, disorderly conduct and unlawful arrest"
The filmers actually call out 'you're on camera' or something to that effect almost half way through. Couldn't keep watching balls crying for mercy.
Let me get this straight. It takes a van full of cops to issue a ticket for riding a bike on the sidewalk, and then they need to call in back-up to take down the guy who had the balls to open his mouth. And we wonder why issuing a warrant required a SWAT team, or brining in a tank in order to stop a cock fighting ring.
What level of force is needed to go after a violent offender? Special Forces?
What level of force is needed to go after a violent offender? Special Forces?
Go after a violent offender? Bwahahahahaha.
1. There's no money in that.
2. These guys have to go home at night. Too dangerous.
Did the cops use asset forfeiture to seize the guys bike?
Doubtful. Then it'd be at the station instead of the shed behind one of their houses.
or brining in a tank in order to stop a cock fighting ring
Did they brine the chickens, or the people who owned the chickens?
The sad thing is that yes, it does, and... the NYPD is actually, generally one of the more reasonable cop shops in the US (out of big cities.) Helps if you're white, but that's universal.
Try this shit in Chicago and you're liable to get shot. Not that it's right, but... I wouldn't fuck with the cops like this simply because I have a strong sense of self-preservation.
I guess it's good that some people fight back enough to get sent to Rikers on tape, but... we live in a nation of bootlickers, and my attitude is that its best to keep your head down but sabotage the cops individually, when you can get away with it.
There is no reason a cop should ever eat prepared food free of more than ordinary quantities of other people's shit. There is no reason that cops should not suffer from an abnormally high rate of defects in how their roofs keep the rain out (show me a roofer who likes the cops.)
It's pretty clear that no amount of transparency is going to mend these motherfuckers. The poor sap in this video will be duly charged and convicted, despite the video evidence.
We do have the ability to fight back though. Where you can, without endangering yourself, make a cop's life a little less safe, a little less pleasant, a little less congenial. Sabotage is easy.
A little sabotage is easy to ignore- we all have bad days. But the cumulative effect of a lot of small acts of sabotage is pretty dire. There is no longer any reason to distinguish between good cops and bad cops. That good cop will fuck you over in a heartbeat if the bad cop needs him to.
When you find no recourse in the justice system you make your own justice. If you are smart you do so in such a way that you can't be held accountable for it. A cop's pacemaker suddenly ceases to work- medical error is not uncommon. A cop's loan application is mysteriously rejected- financial instruments are complicated. Cunningly hidden child pornography finds its way onto a cop's hard drive after a trip to the computer doctor- might be years before that turns up at a border search, but it will sting nonetheless.
It's true that that might not be fair to the occasional Dudley Do-right on the force. But let me ask you this- what other recourse do we have? The cops are not really subject to the rule of law anymore (if they ever were.)
We can either hit them where we can do so without endangering ourselves too much (and that means hitting them for maximum effect when we can, since our opportunities are so few) or we can accept what they are, and what they do. Self-defense is legitimate.
The cops aren't safe in bad black neighborhoods anymore, and they know it. When they feel unsafe in suburban white neighborhoods they will really take notice.
This is what it will take for things to change.
Wow, guess it would be to hard to actually be above reproach. Why antagonize, if only a little, when you can? Seems that just makes things less safe for all...find another country if you don't like this one.
I have an upcoming date (NYPD as well) for "failure to disperse" for a fairly similar incident, so I am definitely not surprised by this one bit.
I always carry my invisibility cloak because the pigs are always after my ass
Gimme my shit back.
In all fairness, the citizens had every opportunity to avoid this unfortunate situation by groveling and averting their eyes in the presence of our heroic Thin Blue Line.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuKgh_QNjyg
Perhaps the greatest white blues guitarist of all time will make things feel better.
If this film isn't an argument for ending all police unionization and for having strong citizen oversight of police, I don't know what is. Unless and until we start sending large numbers of police to jail for this shit, it won't end. And that isn't going to happen so we are basically fucked.
That was pretty excellent.
Don't worry fellas, we have your back all the way, no investigations from this end, we'll protect your pensions too.
Peter Green was a God. A troubled God.
They were just short of a riot. Seriously, it was close to the invisible line where enough people get upset and start a rumble that could spread citywide and become completely disconnected from its causes, and potentially become national like the disturbances in the Arab countries. It had already passed the point where everybody forgot about the guy on the bicycle.
BTW, the joke was something like, "You should've had on your training wheels."
OK, Radley. I'll see your NYPD Blue and raise you a Chicago's Finest.
Good thing we don't have that kind of thing here in central Florida.
At least they still have enough sense of shame to arrest the guys and let them plead out.
Nothing even comes close to Maricopa County.
Wow. Having a tank crash through a house in a residential neighborhood so you can appear in a grade-B action movie actor's show.
I also thought this was brilliant:
So why, exactly, were they going after the cockfight if they're just going to kill the fucking chickens anyway? Arpaio is vermin.
Cockfighting is for assholes and there is no defense. The birds that are euthanized are cut-up and infected.
Rectal hasn't had a cock to fight for years.
By the way are the birds euthanized, first, then cut up, then infected; or are they infected, cut up, then euthanized?
We had to destroy the cocks in order to save them.
BBQ chicken at the cop picinic?
How about this?

Sweet Jebus on a pogo stick! I stand corrected.
Hell, speaking of Florida - I was cycling through a small town in Northern Florida in 1995, in the slow lane of a four lane road with very little traffic, when a lady cop pulled up alongside me and yelled through the window that I'd better get off the road (where I was legal) and onto the sidewalk (where it is generally illegal to ride).
Direction by cops ignorant of the law is no excuse. You'll be prosecuted either way.
Not only typical, but mild by comparison with similar incidents happening by the minute in major cities. The drug war has created a situation in which an entire class of people - mostly young black guys, but not necessarily - can be arrested more or less at will.
The trick is that if you look like the people on the station's wanted posters - mostly young black guys, admittedly - then you can be hauled in without anyone complaining too much. That goes for prosecutors, judges, average citizens, and most especially progressive loft hipsters.
The drug war didn't create this situation. This situation created the drug war.
I disagree...but it's interesting food for thought.
I think that it's more along the lines of that the situation (fear of out of control black males) fueled the drug war (fear of out of control minorities and poor people) which then started a feedback loop which reinforces one another! Black males get hit the worst since they fall into both of these "problems" but the only way to avoid trouble is by having the only color that matters: GREEN and lots of it!
Similar situations (ie Jim Crow racism) created drug laws which perpetuate these situations.
Well, I imagine that young black men were a problem even before emancipation and certainly after. But I'd also think that we could deal with them about the same way we deal with young white men, though we might need some faster cops since, as anyone who has had much to with the blacks knows, they are remarkably fleet of foot.
Thing is that the drug war armed them, and there's nothing worse than someone both fleet of foot and good of aim, with a millimeter of 9.
Good aim?
The statistics concerning drive bys and shoot outs would beg to differ! Most "thugs" couldn't hit the broadside of a barn even if they were standing inside of it!
That's not to say that there aren't some marksmen among the criminal element but most of them are former military or at least had the common sense to actually PRACTICE with the damn things! FBI investigations have shown that most handgun related fatalities occur with the attacker less than six feet away which is about what you'd expect from some moron who holds the fucking thing SIDEWAYS because that's what they do it on TV!
I don't know which dumbass started that whole sideways grip but the number of lives saved by it should probably make them qualified for a Nobel Peace Prize!
The engineers put the fucking sights on TOP of the gun for a REASON!
EDDIE KANE!!!!!
Oh, and if you care about the Fourth Amendment, this might interest you.
"America's finest!"
Give these unionized public employees a break. They're pretending to work better than almost everyone.
You're on to something there.
Some of the comments on youtube are amazing. Not all cops are like this. Yeah, they pretty much are.
This is disgusting, but cyclists do need to stay off the sidewalk once they hit puberty. They piss and moan about how drivers treat them on the road and then they whiz past pedestrians on the sidewalk with no audible warning before they're right on top of you.
Shut up. People are sick of your shit.
Then I'm doing my job.
Nah, I'll give Tulpa a pass on this because he's got a point. Bicyclists can be some of the most self-congratulatory, self-entitled assholes around.
Google "Critical Mass" sometime and you'll get a distilled essence of that mentality in action.
Shit - In Iowa we have this thing called RAGBRAI where nearly 15,000 god-damned cyclists ride all the way accross the state in 5 days. Fucks the whole place up.
They are coming through my lovely little community this year, and I'm already upset about it.
Self-rightous, entitled assholes, indeed.
"Let me think of some way to be a contrarian devil's advocate for no reason"
-Tulpa
Actually bicyclists are dicks and need to stop ruining both the sidewalks and the roads for everyone.
Ought be legal, or even mandatory, to closeline one if you see him on a sidewalk.
Hey, before you do this, consider that a cop may have ORDERED them to ride on the sidewalk. It happened to me once when I was riding through northern Florida.
Bicycles belong on the road. And the sidewalk. And the grass, the trail, and occasionally indoors. Bikes are the true sport utility vehicle, and I consider them to be more libertarian than automobiles. Bikes don't require expensive improved infrastructure and get along just fine without most traffic rules.
A bike is maneuverable enough to be safe on a sidewalk with a safe speed dictated by the level occupation. If a pedestrian is startled by a bike going by, it is because they are a pussy. The cyclist is more aware of upcoming obstacles than the pedestrian is about their surroundings, and the cyclist isn't going to strike someone unless the obstacle starts to dart around like an idiot.
Tell that to this person.
The rules of pedestrians and bicycles should be similar to that of right-of-way when sailing. The slower craft always has the right of way.
Which means if you're on a bicycle and you hit a pedestrian, you were wrong.
Its as simple as that. Give people room when you go around (about three feet), walk or bike in relatively straight lines, and there shouldn't be a problem. I don't think bikes should be banned completely from sidewalks, but they are almost everywhere. A car-bike interaction is probably more dangerous than a bike-foot one in most situations.
More regulations should be like that: Do whatever you want, but if you hurt someone or damage property, you are fully liable and get punished. Maybe people would learn that they are actually responsible for their actions.
Right on, Colonel. Plus they fly through the air like one of the Flying Wallendas when I put a stick through their front spokes, and that's a beautiful thing, too.
I would think that adult cyclists would be far safer on sidewalks than young children.
Hey look, pigs acting like scum. Whaddaya know.
Sickening. Our cops appear to be stupid, scared pussies with guns. The water is boiling?when did it get so hot?
What, they didn't execute the guy once he was in handcuffs? No dead dogs? It's almost like the cops are acting with restraint.
Stop resisting, citizen. Stop resisting!!!
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU...
If the guy hadn't have tried to walk away from the situation, the cop wouldn't have had to arrest him.
This guy should never have tried to end the situation without permission from his badge-wearing master.
Oh, and he shouldn't have been black on a city street, that's also a no-no.
Finally somebody gets it.
Hahaha. The funny thing is, you actually believe this.
You are a fucking piece of shit*, Hobie.
* or a magnificent troll.
In the 80s in DC it was common for cops to hassle, or even arrest/detain young black men on nothing... The "crime" was termed "walking while black" by the youth.
How hard is it to keep your mouth shut and let the cops do their job? It's bad enough they have to worry about being riddled with holes by an assault weapon because some egghead libertarian doesn't know what a militia is, now they have to put up with rancid comments from random people on the street? I don't think so. How would you like it if someone said that while you were trying to work?
1. He was letting the cop do his job. His comment was directed at his (apparent) friend.
2. Name me one instance when a cop was "riddled with holes" by a libertarian. I can probably give you 50 examples of a non-lawbreaker being riddled with hles by a cop, though.
3. Yes, they do have to put up with "rancid" comments from random people. It's called tolerating the First Amendment rights of others.
4. I wouldn't care if someone did it to me at work. I work out of my house, and unless they impeded me from going about my day, they are entitled to say whatever they want. Of course, they are not welcome on my private property or the private property of my customers, but on the street, they can do what they wish.
Does that answer your questions, fuckface?
The main question that got answered was whether you're a distrubed individual whose views should be kept as far away from actual governing as possible.
The sidewalk is city property BTW, and the police are the city's representatives.
It's not city property, asshole. It's public property. And as a member of the public, the citizen has any right to be there and say what he wants. Period. Full stop.
Now, I'm taking my kids to breakfast and a movie so I don't have to get worked up at your stupidity.
Have a great day, everyone!
"It's not city property, asshole. It's public property."
Same thing. In the city the city is the public.
Thanks for your blind, unwavering support, Whorbie. We have a lot of conditioning work to do on our citizenry.
Then, I choose to not be represented by asshole cops, but then I repeat myself there.
Glad somebody appreciates what the fine public servants of this land do day in and day out. Give these libertarian bastards hell, Hobie!
Actually, it isn't public property. It is an easement.
Some of them are, some of them aren't. On a city street it's probably part of the right-of-way, not part of the lot.
The sidewalk is city property BTW
And by their grace, the citizens are allowed to tread on it. Just don't say anything whilst treading.
The city which is funded by tax payer money.
Hey Hobie. Did you read the article or watch the video? Like, at ALL?
Yawn. Another ad Hobiem attack.
Don't you want to try a red herring or a non sequitur just once? Try to mix up the logical fallacies a bit for variety's sake?
your asinine sophistries, Whorebie.
your asinine sophistries, Whorebie.
your asinine sophistries first, Whorebie.
Call the cops!
It's just a question. If you had comprehended the material at all, you wouldn't be saying half the shit you said above.
Comprehension takes a backseat to sucking down that authority cock.
It's popularly understood that there's a bigger payoff associated with sucking authority cock then there is with working hard to secure liberty for oneself and others.
Most people will do anything if the price is right. But everyone learned that in grade school.
Hmmm. I kind of wish this were true. But people like Hobbie Hanson submit to authoritarianism out of altruism I'm afraid. It's more a religion than a self-interested con.
But it's not like it would make any difference if you did comprehend any of it.
There are plenty of people like you out there who are quite comfortable with ignoring the distinction between a cop who uses discretion in choosing when he will charge someone when faced with multiple occurrences of the same crime, and a cop who is completely arbitrary about the charges he issues in such a situation.
"How hard is it to keep your mouth shut and let the cops do their job?
How hard is it for the cops to let people peacfully get thrpugh the day without hassasing them? This is what we need cops for? FTA.
Last Wed. I was doing my taxes, working on two separate projects for my business when my back door was repeatedly hit so hard it rattled in it's frame.
Multiple cops looking for someone who was allegedly shooting a BB gun. They knew it was a BB gun. Long story- I sent them on their way with their tails between their legs.
Funny thing, I just couldn't concentrate after that. I was calm during the whole incident- where my home was damaged, I was threatened, screamed at, and none of the brave cops would give me their names of badge numbers nor would the supervisor on scene. I lost about 8 hours of work trying to calm down afterward. My girlfriend is still shaken up.
So, I don't really give a shit about how hard a cop's job is. Don't like it don't do it.
How bad was theBB gun injured?
It's a good thing Butch misplaced that switchblade, do you know how hard it is to find a spring that small?
""How would you like it if someone said that while you were trying to work?""
I would ignore them because it's not relevant to the task at hand. But then again, I'm not an asshole with a chip on my shoulder and a union that will defend my overzelous actions.
So the next time NYC ask for a tax increase or they're going to cut back on police, someone should send this to the news stations and say they have way too many cops as it is. As far as I can tell the only crime I could see out of the whole incident was the NYC taxpayers getting ripped off. If the cops were not there what would have happened on the street corner. Peace and quiet. This is what happens when you give societies dumbest and most insecure a gun and a little power.
Crime has plummeted in NYC because of that effective policing and increased cop manpower. Cutting back would bring them back to the bad old days of the 1980s crime rates.
Back when people went up on sidewalks with their bikes and randomly joked with each other without being molested by the cops. Shudder.
Crime has plummeted everywhere. Including jurisdictions where they don't do oppressive surveillance.
I wish I could kick those cunts in the face through the internet screen. Or fucking snipe them. I'm not kidding, I'm just about fucking done. I taunt the cops at every opportunity. I always have my digital camera with me.
When a police officer tells you to do something, you do it. You shut the fuck up and obey.
Spoof?
Obvious flame.
Seriously... you think so?? when they act like that....I'm assuming you still live at home with mommy. Get a backbone stand up for whats right.
How hard is it to keep your mouth shut and let the cops do their job?
SIUYA
How hard it is for a cop to do their job and not concern themselves with one guy churping. Paalease.
Ho.
Ly.
Shit.
Folks, take a look at the realized goal of the public education system. What a good little citizen!
(That's directed at The Truth. Damn squirrels.)
Bad boys, bad boys -- what you gonna do when they come for you?
That's the only thing missing from this video.
The sad thing is that song which COPS made famous wasn't about righteous police chasing down criminal scum but was a song about revolution and what would the freedom fighters do when the authorities cracked down!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s0XsulDXtk
Under Giuliani the bicyclists and then the pedestrians were harrassed and herded, but supposedly it was to benefit the motorists. Bloomberg has extended the harrassment to everyone on the street: pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Including buses & trucks. Oh, and pushcart drivers, did I forget them?
Bloomberg is spending a lot of money. You got to get the revenue from somewhere. 😉
Keep in mind, of course, that this isn't just one or two cops hassling people for no good reason.
This is a whole bunch of them, none of whom apparently thought twice about it.
"A few bad apples" my ass. This is a whole sick subculture. Protect and Serve Dominate and Control
Everyone of thosecops should be immediately fired. Then, this video should be shown to all cops everywhere and used as training of what not to do. Am I dreaming? Of course. But jesus fucking christ, when will this kind of shit stop?
Don't get me wrong, I know very well that this is minor compared to what cops have done, and gotten away with, but if you start small, fire their ass just for harassing, maybe it will be more difficult to take things to the next level.
I think this thing will stop-or at least cease worsening-as citizens become less dependent on LEOs for safety. The many 2nd Amendment victories as of late will do just that. A lack of money to fund the WOD will also do that. It would help if conservatives would start calling out this shit...and I think they are just beginning too. I think.
Maybe in some places, but in New York City, no matter how far the changes you mention go, the effect on this sort of thing will be minimal.
A "Broken Windows" policy for cops?
No wonder Bloomberg and his minions are so desperate to keep guns out of the hands of civilians.
I wonder if anybody has shown this to Justice "New Professionalism"?
There was finally a story where it appears cop-killing-dog may have been justified. It seems like they were enthusiastic yet incompetent at it though. I'm guessing "several" = "size of magazine"
http://posttrib.suntimes.com/n.....r-dog.html
And they wonder why people REJOICE everytime some stupid cop gets clipped in the line of duty! I LOVE to hear about PUNK cops like this getting clipped on the news!
http://www.web-anonymity.at.tc
Damn! Anon-bot is ready to toss some Molotov cocktails and fuck shit up!
I know I'm missing something, I'm still trying to figure out why the cyclist didn't take the opportunity to make a run for it when the the cops were in pre-Rodney King mode around the guy with the mouth.
hmm, they were holding his ID but the guy is the fan could have made a break for it when the three Urban Angels showed up to kick ass. I loved them!
Solution: Don't carry id when you're on your bike.
That's George Bush's Amerika for you, Fezzie.
Yes, I remember Bush carrying New York by double digits.
Shining example why NY is a Shit hole or soon to be Shiite hole.
Hey, it's not like these cops are trained to handle emotional situations like this. They have to arrest people first and then work through the issue. If their budget was a little better they might be able to take psychology classes and some liberal arts classes to learn when someone is actually talking to them.
If you are one of several watch collectors watch this is absolutely not to be missed .
I believe that you have read the above paragraphs some of the right heart following several more that will give you eye opener .....
http://www.likeswisswatches.com/graham.html Replica Graham watches
http://www.likeswisswatches.co.....tches.html Mens Audemars Piguet Watches
wow 12 cops who are supposed to protect the innocent couldn't pull together 10 seconds of common sense....WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS.
Protect and to serve...yeah, right.
It seems to me that I have never seen a situation improve because a cop shows up in fact it usually deteriorates. In fact I think it is inversely proportional to the total number of cops that show up. The more cops that show up the worse it gets.
And preemptively for the guy that tells me not to call the cops when I need them trust me I won't I have more time behind a gun than most of your seven week wonders in any case. They would just complicate things really.
Some cities are combating problems like this by making it illegal to videotape the police. In the future it is likely that the police will storm into the building and arrest the guy doing the videotaping.
When the SHTF, cops will be the first targets of the enraged populace. You watch. . .
Thanks
