Here's more nice coverage of the new video from Roll Call.

Do they have a segment on how to react when the tazer volts start coursing through your body?
I think that was rule #1: Remain Cool and Calm (while your body twitches involuntarily)
"Have you ever been face to face with a police officer and wondered: Is he about to kick my ass? Well wonder no more. If you follow these easy tips, you'll be fine."
That sound track is a crime.
The fine LEOs at Officer.com didn't seem to care for this video.
How DARE you? This isn't meant to be realistic. This is propaganda and nothing more. How DARE you insinuate that I illegally search people and violate people's rights. How DARE you insult those of us on the front lines putting OUR lives on the line sometimes for absolute scum that would sooner spit on us than to say thank you. You want to compare me to pizz poor acting and a defense attorney with an agenda then damnit, I will assume you are the same as the penis-diddling, child molesting man I ran into last night.
I will assume you are the same as the penis-diddling, child molesting man I ran into last night.
So no change to procedure, then.
those of us on the front lines
I have a proposal: every cop who thinks like this goes to serve a few tours in Iraq.
That's a hand me down line from politicians claiming there is a war on crime. Yet, many cops think politicians are dumb.
Because we want more combat minded cops...?
No. So they die.

I read that whole fucking thread. Fuck. I think I'll have some beer now.
I'm more impressed by your claim to have made it through the entire thread on that site than by people who say they read the health care reform bill.
I had to grit my teeth just to make it through a few pages of the LEO's complaining about people wanting to assert their rights.

Wow. I'm actually surprised the video was not taken down right away. Other than that, what Warty said.
Sol, you took a non-ball-kick video posted by Radley and promptly filled in the ball-kicking requirement by posting that link. I read three pages of comments before wanting to tear my eyes out. I can't believe some of those LEO comments.
THANKS
And that is one of the creepiest forums I've ever seen.
You guys must be exaggerating, the fine individuals in that link couldn't have said anything too AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHGHAHGHGHAGHGHHAH
How dangerous is it really as a beat officer. 'Life on the line' as a justification for violating peoples rights should not be justified. There are more dangerous jobs than being a police officer.
Fo Real
Wow. That was horrible. Those sexual harassment videos they make you watch at work are better shot and acted. There's no consistancy in the pacing or tone, each rule is revealed via different method and with different results. Watch Sesame Street for lessons in succinct, memorable recitation of data.
Give me a break. The big difference is that this video actually had information that was worthwhile. That's a hell of lot more important than the production quality. Keep up the good work "Flex Your Rights"!
Ten rules? I thought there was only one rule for dealing with the police.
Don't talk to the police.
Don't talk to the cops. "Mr. James Duane, a professor at Regent Law School and a former defense attorney, tells you why you should never agree to be interviewed by the police."

One rule - STAY ALIVE
Generally good rules if you don't mind the overacting in the scenarios.
I actually thought it was not half bad... Obviously the acting was not Oscar quality, but then again a video like that needs to be made for the lowest common denominator. Most commentors on this site didn't exactly need the '10 Lessons...'; so it's sort of like an algebra lesson in a calculus class posting it on this blog.
yo, fuck the cops...
The ad on the side for "Criminal Justice Degrees" featuring a cop appears to be a wild misfiring of the ad generation algorithm.
The ad I got was for "become a police officer".
it's ten freaking rules. i'm supposed to wade through nine minutes of video to find the thirty seconds of content? you have to decide whether the point is to get a message out or to have a camera pointed at your face
1. Obey the law
2. Use common sense
3. Stop immediately
4. Turn that shit off
5. Be polite
6. Shut the fuck up
7. Get a white friend
8. Don't ride with a mad woman
how about don't ride with mad people in general...
2.3.4.5. all have to do with listening, thinking and following direction, not me man, not gonna tell me!
