Family of Girl Bodyslammed By Cop to Sue

President of the Arlington Police Association believes the officer did nothing wrong

The lawsuit filed Thursday in Fort Worth federal court comes as no surprise: Julie and Kirk Perry have been saying for months they were going to sue the Arlington police officer seen body-slamming their 15-year-old daughter during a melee that followed an end-of-summer party at 1010 Collins, in the shadow of Cowboys Stadium. Yesterday they made good on their threat, suing Officer Dylan Eckstrom for, among other things, violating their daughter's constitutional rights.

The suit recaps what's on the video above: A so-called "summer dance" at 1010 Collins, paid for by parents, got out of hand and was shut down by the owners of the rental venue. The ruckus spilled out into the parking lot. Says the suit, Kelcey went to the party with an older sister, and as they were attempting to exit through the parking lot, "suddenly Kelcey Perry was assaulted from behind by one or two of a pair of female teens." The suit says Kelcey heard their taunts and knew who they were — "because they had bullied Kelcey Perry in the past."
