No, Corporate Greed Didn't Cause the 2023 Egg Price Shock
A much more plausible explanation is the avian flu outbreak that devastated the poultry industry last year.
As inflation raised prices on all manner of goods throughout 2022, eggs earned special attention. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the average price of a dozen eggs in urban areas rose from $1.92 in January 2022 to $4.82 in January 2023. Supply and demand explain the increase, but you wouldn't know that if you listened only to progressives.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I–Vt.) and former Clinton administration Labor Secretary Robert Reich both blamed "corporate greed" for the price hikes. The anti-corporate advocacy group Farm Action claimed "the real culprit" was "a collusive scheme among industry leaders" to "extract egregious profits reaching as high as 40 percent." Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D–Mass.) and Rep. Katie Porter (D–Calif.) said the high prices "raise concerns about price gouging" by egg suppliers.
There was a more plausible explanation. An avian flu outbreak devastated the poultry industry throughout 2022. By the end of the year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), there were 43 million fewer egg-laying hens than in February 2022. Egg inventories fell 29 percent from January to December. When demand outstrips supply, prices go up.
A similar outbreak in late 2014 affected more than 50 million birds. According to Fed data, egg prices rose from $1.96 a dozen in May 2015 to $2.96 in September 2015 before falling for more than a year afterward.
The 2022 outbreak, by contrast, persisted into 2023. At the same time, general inflation was unusually high: 6.5 percent in 2022, compared to 0.7 percent in 2015. "Like consumers," the American Feed Industry Association noted in January 2023, "feed manufacturers are feeling the effects of inflation on the economy and are paying increased rates for energy, shipping, labor and ingredients." So even as the number of hens dropped, the cost of feeding them rose.
The good news is that egg prices began falling after January's high. Average egg prices fell from $4.82 a dozen in January to $4.21 in February and $3.45 in March. The USDA predicted that, barring an avian flu resurgence, prices would continue to fall throughout the year.

I am making a good salary from home $6580-$7065/week , which is amazing under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. I thank God every day I was blessed with these instructions and now it’s my duty to pay it forward and share it with Everyone,

They never explain why the greedy corporations weren’t greedy last year or the year before that. If greedy corporations can just raise prices at will, why don’t they?
Because they neither understand nor want to understand how the market actually works. It’s why they accuse oil companies of setting prices without understanding how supply, demand, future supply, and future demand work. It’s how you get a Joe Biden Administration deciding not to lease on federal land and then wondering why the price of oil just went up without any understanding that they just cut into future supply.
I’am making over $190 an hour working online with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over 18k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. That’s still a lot of money to shell out for eggs. I have a feeling some companies decided to undercut the Big Egg cartel, to try to poach some business from their competitors.
This is no time to be cracking your white supremacy yolks.
Shell color is the most important thing.
Ouch!
Or yellow peril yolks either.

Huh? The number of drilling rigs doubled under Biden and thousands of unused drilling leases for federal land have expired. Oil and gas companies only want to drill in west Texas and North Dakota. And they know that the Biden haters will never let him get away with allowing the price of petroleum products to get high enough to allow them to make a return on the less productive federal land.
The fact that a lot of oil refineries closed during the pandemic and didn’t reopen was the main reason that prices rose. Now Biden could try what every major oil producing country other than the US and Canada have done and nationalize the oil industry. I went to Mexico last summer; it’s nationalized oil industry kept gasoline prices a full dollar per gallon less than they were in the US. I don’t support that but that is what it would take to control gasoline prices.
It is Biden who is supporting free markets here. If the price oil gasoline were really too high, people would stop paying, demand would drop, and prices would fall. Economics 101. Something a lot of folks don’t understand.
‘It is Biden who is supporting free markets here.’ Ah yes, the school of assertion = fact, closely tied to the school of accusation = guilt. Often seen in company w/ ‘X 101’ or ‘something a lot of folks just don’t understand,’ the arguments that people who don’t agree are stupid. When presented w/ breathlessly repeated falsehoods, such as ‘drilling rigs doubled,’ or the US spends more on Defense than Education, it is an indicator that one is dealing w/ an activist.
Similarly, Biden has signaled to the fossil fuel industry that they will not exist in the near future, and then criticized them for not making 25-35 year investments in new refineries. We already know that Biden isn’t very bright, but this is a whole new level of stupidity.
Has the EPA approved the contruction of any new refinery in the last 4 decades? If it takes 10+ years to get all the permits in order to construct transmission lines to get electricity from a wind farm in Wyoming to the captive customers in CA who are legally obliged to overpay for exclusively “green” electricity (while the State gov’t is committed to only make changes which reduce the total supply produced inside of CA), then how long could it be expected to take to get permits to break ground on an oil refinery?
The “Big Oil” companies could have committed $2Trillion to increasing refinery capacity on the day that Biden took office and have been pretty confident that he’d never live to see any such effort get permission to do anything other than “impact studies”.
Yeah, why do prices drop ever? Did egg companies suddenly become “more generous”?
Precisely so
Duh! It’s because their money vault is full so they have to build a new bigger one. Scrooge Mc Duck can’t swam anymore
What no one explains is why the cost of crap industrial eggs rose so much relative to ‘pasture-raised’ eggs where hens spend their lives eating bugs in the sunshine and singing Kumbaya to their eggs.
Turns out – the cost of those crowded warehouses is- FAR higher susceptibility to contagious disease. Those were the facilities that got wiped out by avian flu and that thus had to restock their laying hens and raise them back to laying status. The more money we spend on that sort of industrial shit – the more we reinforce a brittle supply chain.
On the bright side – pretty much anyone who tried pasture-raised eggs because the price was similar for awhile – remained with pasture-raised because of the taste and quality. And those are completely different suppliers.
You’re probably right. I should spend the dough to get pasture-raised eggs. Last time I bought “cage-free” eggs, and I don’t even know exactly that means.
… “cage-free” eggs, and I don’t even know exactly that means.
Do you think maybe it means the chicken isn’t in a cage? Maybe? WTF
It is amazing. Not a humble brag… maybe a dumbell brag?
Check out the doc “Super Size Me 2” sometime. They don’t get into egg production, but the way to meet the USDA requirement for marking chicken as “free range” could blow your mind if you take regulatory language as if it were plain speech.
Cage-free means the hen has 1 sq foot of space and can stand on dirt and walk and flap its wings.
The ‘free range’ designation by the industrial producers means the hen has 1.23 sq feet of space and the warehouse has a door to the outside that is occasionally opened (even if the hens can’t get there). The ‘free range’ designation that is also designated ‘humane’ (smaller producers) has 2-20 sq feet of outdoor space per hen that is available for 6 or more hours per day.
‘Pasture raised’ has a much larger minimum space – 100 sq feet of vegetation space (not just dirt) and access to a nesting box. But it’s more about what the hen eats. This is the designation where the hen mostly forages food. Before this, they are mostly fed grain. The result is an orange yolk and much (2-3x) more nutritious
Thanks for the info.
If you’re gonna make an omelette, you gotta crack a few eggs.
Stalin, is that you?
I ask that very thing of people on another forum when they complain of our super high prices and call for U.B.I. So far, no coherent reply.
The crash in egg prices has been very noticeable over the past six months. Back in January or so, we were paying about $5/dozen for large eggs – the cheap generic ones. Now, as of this weekend, it’s $1.09/dozen.
Just before this outbreak, eggs were at an all time low. In the northern Midwest, eggs were common “doorbuster” loss leaders, going for well under a dollar a dozen at convenience stores like KwikTrip.
It was at a point where you had to consider using eggs as a primary protein source in many meals. Just because of the price.
The new lower prices aren’t something the Big Egg cartel will be able to get over easy.
Nope.
Trump’s fault.
Or Maybe DeSantis.
Anonymous sources have reported that Trump referenced a secret document hidden at Mar A Lago containing a recipe for a 5 cheese omelette. The sound of eggs being broken can be heard on the tape.
They used Russian dressing on the omelets.
Egg-based mayonnaise dressing on top of egg? Yuck!
You’ve never had an eggs beni?
Is that like a Cuban sandwich?
Asking for sarc.
That’s made with Hollandaise, not mayonnaise. Hollandaise I like. Mayo on top of a butter-cooked egg would be too greasy for me and the tastes wouldn’t mesh well for me. To each their own, though.
Yes, according to multiple ‘anonymous sources’ who claim to know a buddy’s cousin’s wife’s BFF who said she heard it.
Did Ferris Bueller collapse at the 31 Flavors? Guess it’s pretty serious!
I should also mention thats Sullums 3rd article quoting anonymous sources for just this Trump scandal but Reason remains silent on Bidens money laundering despite names and evidence.
Actual bank records detailing account deposits from these companies being disbursed to Biden family members, and not a peep from the Reasonistas.
“It’s just money to cover the bar tab”
/pluggo
The Biden’s often give $3 million bar tabs to their homies. They’re always good for it.
The news coming out that Hunter “gave” his 10% Chinese investment claim to the lawyer paying all of his bills and his 2 million dollar tax bill is also suspicious. Hunter is still being paid out from that fund.
Once new Koch decides that Biden must go, the floodgates will open and Reason editors will pretend that they discovered the scandal. Except Sullum. He will be heard screaming at the sky from a cardboard box under a bridge somewhere.
Sullum was always about brown envelope journalism, he’ll be okay. Reason’s very own Walter Duranty.

They are adding Net Zero grocery taxes now.
Not only reducing food supply by culling cows and putting farmers out of business, but also increasing taxes and regulations on grocery stores.
Are they trying to starve us?

One wonders.
Remember 6 or 8 months ago when there were news stories about upcoming worldwide famine due to the war in Ukraine?
Now we have European countries banning farming and culling livestock…
Yet we have no Reason reporters doing original reporting on this topic. This is interesting. It is potentially critical to society. But we get bloggers rewriting weaker versions of news from national organizations.
Reason will push whatever propaganda, and bury whatever news, they’re told to.
Barely disguised totalitarian globalist rag.

WEF is a stain on the butt cheeks of the world.
“Are they trying to starve us?”
Yes, they’re not going to reach the UN’s 2050 population sustainability goals without breaking 8.5 billion eggs.
If people won’t eat enough fake meat on their own, the government will find less subtle ways to get us to eat bugs.

Cause you can’t accidentally make it so weird and cringe … you really need to go for it and redo scenes … again and again.

It would be more effective to put up “springtime for hitler”

I actually thought it was pretty decent. They reproduced a rather famous and heavily memed Bollywood movie almost frame for frame, but used Ukrainian dancing and lyrics instead.

A much more plausible explanation is the avian flu outbreak that devastated the poultry industry last year.
According to Wingnut.com egg prices went up because Biden cancelled an oil pipeline that had never carried a drop of oil.
Also, Joe tripped because the secret service failed him.
And a seditious MAGA sand bag.
Ultra MAGA sand bag*
MAGA Communist sand bag.
According to Wingnut.com egg prices went up because Biden didn’t cancel enough oil pipelines.
Everyone knows that reducing energy infrastructure enriches the economy, right Shrike?
The road to prosperity is paved with cold houses and blackouts.
Chicken coup index is up under Biden!!!
Are the chickens plotting a coup?
Aren’t they always?
They tried and failed. Boy, did they have egg on their faces!
And oil futures have no impact on current oil prices, sure.

Speaking of Wingnut.com, folks, Buttplug actually just dropped a Media Matters link down below. Check it out.
By “cancelled” do you mean “blew up”?

“Militant extreme-left” group sentenced to five years in prison for attacks on Neo-Nazis and other far-right groups in Germany.
Prosecutors said that Lina E. and her three co-defendants, known as Lennart A., Jannis R. and Jonathan M., are proponents of “militant extreme-left ideology” who carried out attacks on right-wing extremists in Leipzig and nearby towns.
.
Around 800 people took to the streets in Leipzig in the immediate aftermath of the court verdict on Wednesday. Some demonstrators tried to break through police lines, throwing bottles, stones and fireworks at officers. A laser was pointed at a police helicopter.
.
The court found that the four activists spied on and attacked neo-Nazis and alleged supporters of the right-wing scene in Leipzig, Wurzen and Eisenach in the German state of Thuringia between August 2018 and the summer of 2020.
.
Shortly after the verdict, Germany’s Interior Minister Nancy Faeser told journalists that the case highlighted the “significant danger” posed by far-left militants, who have become less inhibited in attacking political opponents with “extreme brutality.”

Nobody thinks Media Matters is non partisan. Least of all Media Matters.
Leftist true believers do.

Be fair. Leftist true believers are on a holy crusade, and believe only in “truth”. I doubt they ever consider partisanship, since they know they are right.
Tony has also claimed to have a 165 IQ. Even though he has an 85 IQ.
“Media Matters”
Oh wow. Next are you going to quote Der Stürmer to show how Jews and Gypsies are parasites?
How many of those guys claim to be “centrist” or neutral?
No, you are a far leftist Sorosite pedophile. Your kind should be exterminated like roaches.
Says the jack-booted NAZI who claims he wants to round up liberals and other political enemies and exterminate them just like his hero Adolf Hitler did.

Media Matters is non-partisan.
.
Their formula is this:
.
1) cite stupid video/audio of some outlandish claim/lie
2) link to reputable source debunking claim/lie
You admit that conservatives lie so much that it keeps MM busy?
I thought you worked for OS, not MM. Are you double billing?
Most of MMs lies are narrative builders. Just like Politifact and their “true, but” rulings.
The point shrike is you claim to be a neutral observer but then think one of the most biased and partisan organizations out there is non partisan.
During the Obama years when you conservatives went off the deep end MM was an easy place to watch the nutty shit your media talking heads said.
Take Fat Rush Limbaugh’s 3 hour show – MM would provide videos of 5-6 of the nuttiest lies he would say right there on his Dildo-Cam. Easily indexed. Like a library of Crazy.
MM was just an index.
Why do you call them non partisan shrike? How does thinking that make you neutral?
This is still on their about page:
Media Matters for America is a web-based, not-for-profit, 501 (c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.
Neutral indeed.
Again, not even Media Matters believes that.
They’re a 501(c) political nonprofit founded and operated by a Democratic Party political activist, David Brooks.
Their start up capital came from MoveOn.org and the New Democrat Network. John Podesta gave them their office space. Soros’s Tides Foundation, Democracy Alliance, Moveon.org and the Center for American Progress fund it.
It’s in their own description.
I can’t figure out how you think you’re tricking anyone.
To be fair, he can’t either.
Too much tricking of children for shrike.

“No, Corporate Greed Didn’t Cause the 2023 Egg Price Shock”
Sqrlsy fucking chickens did.
Conservatives blamed it on Joe Biden, but the junior varsity clinger who wrote this shit would prefer to flatter his disaffected audience of right-wing misfits by ignoring that point and focusing on a few Democrats.
Carry on, clingers . . . but only so far as your betters (the liberal-libertarian mainstream) permit.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Judge Barrett confirmed, if only because I believe it would precipitate the installation of four new, better justices during the first half of 2021. – Arthur “Dimestore Jeffrey Toobin” Kirkland, October 2, 2020
We’re nearing the midway point of 2023. This childish fantasy you tried to pass off as serious legal analysis gets funnier the more outdated it becomes.
When do you predict conservatives (faux libertarian, half-educated, bigoted, superstitious misfits, mostly) will become competitive in the culture war, Sandra? After a half-century and more of getting your stale, ugly, worthless asses kicked by your betters, you’d think right-wingers would be able to muster a comeback. But they still can’t operate a good school, build a successful community, live near good medical facilities, overcome superstition, or become competitive at the modern American marketplace of ideas.
Do you figure reversing the tide of the culture war is two years away? Five years? Ten years?
Or do you at least have the competence to recognize that clingers will continue to get stomped by their betters until the moment of replacement?
Throughout 2016 I was sure Clinton couldn’t miss that layup. Then she choked. If someone asked me 5 years ago if Roe v. Wade would ever get overturned I would have replied “Almost certainly not.” Yet here we are. Will the Supreme Court ever strike down the aggressive racial preferences in college admissions you like so much? I think race-based admissions will survive, but stranger things have happened.
The point is it’s not always easy to make predictions beyond bland and safe ones like “The Oakland A’s won’t win this year’s World Series.” It’s especially risky to make ambitious predictions that something basically unprecedented will get accomplished by a fixed date. Need to be prepared for those to blow up in your face.
So yeah, I will keep reminding everyone of that laughable idiocy you spit out. And I won’t feel guilty mocking you in a predictable and repetitive way since you’re the most predictable and repetitive person in this comment section. Congrats, though, on posting more than once in this topic without relying on your “[Blank] are among my favorite [blank]” template.
Do you figure Dobbs will last half as long as Roe did?
Do you genuinely believe conservatives — the bigoted, half-educated, superstitious depleted human residue that remains in our can’t-keep-up backwaters after generations on the wrong end of bright flight — are going to prevail in the culture war or at the marketplace of ideas, or suddenly find themselves on the right side of history?
I call a bigot a bigot. You seem to prefer political correctness and euphemisms (“conservative values” and “traditional values” instead of right-wing racism, misogyny, superstitious gay-bashing, Islamophobia, antisemitism, xenophobia, etc.). I enjoy smacking around the downscale, faux libertarian, bigoted right-wing misfits who are modern America’s culture war roadkill. That seems to bother you.
How you want to spend the time you have remaining before replacement (by your betters) is up to you. But you will continue to comply with the preferences of people like me, the liberal-libertarian mainstream, victors in the culture war, who shape our national progress against your wishes and efforts.
I am content.
Carry on, Sandra, and the other clingers. So far as your betters permit. Not a step beyond.
Yes, we all look to places like Chicago, San Francisco and Portland for inspiration and a glimpse into our future.
Do you figure Dobbs will last half as long as Roe did?
Dobbs is already gone.
That Dobbs was objectionable, too . . . and, eventually, leashed by his betters.
Fuck off and die, asshole bigot.
“junior varsity clinger who wrote this shit would prefer to flatter his disaffected audience of right-wing misfits”
The Kirkland-bot is starting to move into Hank territory.
He only comes in here when his great dane rejects his sexual overtures.
So tired.
Mike Pence donned a leather jacket and rode a Hog, and he still (according to other articles covering the “Roast and Ride” event) didn’t make much of an impression on the Iowa Republican crowd:
https://www.businessinsider.com/mike-pence-harley-davidson-motorcycle-rides-iowa-roast-and-ride-2023-6
I genuinely think he should get some props here.
Most men i know actually have ridden and know how to ride a motorcycle. The fact you think this is an accomplishment is telling.
Mike got excited about the leather.
Fair.
Pence seems a decent man for a superstitious clinger, and better Americans thank him for his conduct and character as Trump flamed out, but his moment of relevance in America has passed.
Your endorsement of Pence proves he sucks.
What’s your over-under on how many times Trump is charged criminally this year?
3? 4? 5?
It’s tough to call with precision, but 3.5 seems reasonable.
I don’t see Pence getting charged with crimes once. This seems to make bigoted MAGA-QAnon losers cranky.
The same odds as an expanded Supreme Court?
If Republicans want to avoid an enlarged Supreme Court, they better get cracking on making racism, old-timey superstition, antisemitism, xenophobia, gay-bashing, misogyny, Islamophobia, can’t-keep-up backwaters, nonsense-teaching schools, gun nuttery, and anti-abortion absolutism more popular in America, so they can reverse the tide of the culture war (good luck with that!) and win enough elections to prevent better Americans from expanding the Court.
Other than abortion, everything you describe is a hallmark of the left. Especially with the tranny insanity. Going after the kids so openly might be what pushes things over the edge. And if things go hot, you’re on the endangered species list.
It really sucks that you and your fellow travelers have no tactical, fighting, or weapons skills. Let alone the hundred of millions of firearms that all those people, that you detest, own.
Or shorter; it’s going to get real fucking bad for you Arty.
Fuck off and die, asshole bigot.
I don’t want your approval or friendship.
But your betters will continue to have your compliance, clinger.
We have no betters. No leftist may be our equal. Let alone our superior.
Eat shit and die, asshole bigot.
Pence fucked up and performed his Constitutional duty on Jan 6.
The Trump Cult that makes up 80% of the GOP will never forgive him for that.
Pluggo isn’t entirely sure what that constitutional duty was, but his pals at the Lincoln Projects boypic forums were talking all about it.

Seems so.
What about Dukakis After Dark?
In the emotional fantasy land of leftist society and economics, everything is either good or evil. Sometimes, high prices are evil. Most corporations are evil. Profits are always evil. Thus high prices for eggs can only result from the profiteering of greedy corporations. If you can’t see this, or worse, if you disagree, you are also evil. QED
Stop big egg!
There must be some cracks forming in the Big Egg cartel, because prices are dropping closer to normal now. If prices fall too fast, egg producers will have to scramble, or end up with egg on their face.
It’s not going to go over easy for them.
Well, they are a hard boiled bunch
Are outside forces going to poach some of their business?
I’m separating my eggs instead of putting them in one basket and trying to keep on the sunny side of life. 🙂
Well, of course “corporate greed” and supply-and-demand shortages from avian flu epidemics are not mutually exclusive. I suppose if people continue to demand eggs during a shortfall in production, producers could sell a lot fewer eggs at the same price they usually sold them to a lot fewer people and take the loss in incomes personally but because they were greedy they refused to lose their incomes. Allegations of “collusion” on the other hand represent serious, possibly criminal, charges and should not be made without significant evidence, like smoking-gun e-mails or video recordings.
Nobody is forced to buy or eat eggs.
People seem to have little understanding of economics and a weak grasp of logic. If companies could make more by jacking up prices, why don’t they do it all the time? Why didn’t they do it 4 years ago, before inflation kicked in? It’s because maximizing the selling price doesn’t maximize revenues or profits. When prices are set too high, consumers buy less. When one company sets prices too high, competitors price comparable goods lower and steal market share.
Are companies greedy? Sure, but they’re greedy all the time. It’s not like they just found a new strategy to make more money.

This has been discussed before and the picture is a complex one. Companies do WANT to jack their prices up all the time, but the market keeps them in check. Reason has incorrectly proposed that companies raise prices in times of scarcity to “protect supply”. The company is not doing some service to the community in some Adam Smithian market experiment to protect the supply of their widgets. They’re jacking the prices up during scarcity… because they can. As scarcity increases, the market is “tested” and found that it will sustain the higher price– so the companies fudge that price up. This has the knock-on effect of “protecting supply”.
Reason has incorrectly proposed that companies raise prices in times of scarcity to “protect supply”.
Huh? The words “protect supply” don’t appear anywhere in the article above. What are you quoting?
Of course companies are greedy.
The market is the best limit on their greed.
The problem is when they come whining to the politicians demanding bailouts, subsidies, protection from competition, and tax preferences. Democrats often cave to them and Republicans always do.
Corporate greed never causes anything bad according to the Koch bros. funded propaganda organ Reason dot com.
OK. I don’t recall Reason ever making such a sweeping statement.
Nor have I
Lefty shits never post anything but lies.
Huh, I guess today is the anniversary of China’s own January 6.
Thank Mao those extremists were defeated!
Tanks for the memories!
Democracy was successfully defended by the CCP
Hell, no. Not letting you get away with implying that the January 6th protestors were freedom fighters. They were moronic sore losers, attempting to do an end run around the Consitution.
Ha ha
… and joining the hundreds of thousands of progressivists who have successfully completed thousands of end runs around the Constitution over the last nine decades.
I don’t know about you but I learned that two wrongs don’t make a right when I was just a child.
You’re constantly wrong, or lying. Clearly the only lesson you learned in your youth is to never give up the con.
Wait, so they marched into the Capitol and …took pictures. Where were their guns? Where we the damages? The violence?
Now Floyd/BLM/Anifa burn federal buildings, take over parts of cities, rob and loot – yet they are peaceful.
If you ever need to learn the difference between Right and Left is look at the aftermath of the events they attend. Left leaves tons of trash. Right takes it with them as a sign of respect.
Ok, I’m going back to the video were…where what they held a gun to AOC’s head? Pelosi? What was the 6th game plan except protesting?
We need more immigrant chickens.
If that means more fryers or even some small roasters at the store, then hell yeah. There’s nothing between frozen game hens and five pound birds around here. I asked the guys at the store and they say just deal with what comes off the truck.
Or more accurately it did, just in an indirect way.
Greed = Use of Factory farms = more susceptible to avian flu outbreaks = egg shortage
“Meeting market demands = greed”
I noticed the price of free range eggs went up too. I guess those guys are “greedy” as well.
It is to laugh.
JeremyR = full of shit.
Providing eggs at a reasonable cost -> factory farms -> bird flu-> egg shortage.
Prices coming down now the flu is over. Hey, why didn’t they keep the price up with they are sooo greedy.
How’s it feel holding straw?

In all seriousness, an F-16 going supersonic over Washington, DC chasing a rogue business jet that subsequently crashed in Virginia (for causes unknown) seems like a pretty significant story.

Local story.
It isn’t a story except for the poor victims of the crash. 🙁
There is no boundaries to the arrogance, ignorance and greediness of progressives….
Only [?our?] Gov-Guns can lay more eggs! /s
When people get so stupid they think Gov-Guns can make sh*t.
The left is the Nazi-Party no matter how much they project.
Leftard )==,——> Chickens
Politicians (Gun), “You WILL lay more eggs cause we have GUNS!”.
Don’t let their BS fool you. Their GUNS cannot lay more eggs. They are the party of forced slavery/dictation by Gun-Force (government). Their entire foundation lies in the belief that Guns can make sh*t without enslavement/dictation. They are Anti-USA and Pro-Hitler tactics.
…and their premise will be the biggest curse this nation has ever known as it has been with countless other nations throughout history.
Because at the end of the day; GUNS DON’T MAKE SH*T!
They only kill good people out of “armed-theft” intentions or they ensure Justice and Liberty for all against the aforementioned “armed-theft” crowd.

No, Corporate Greed Didn’t Cause the 2023 Massive Inflation. Biden’s Bad Policy Did.
Of course corporations are an easy scapegoat for a bad president to blame for his bad policy.
It’s one of the left’s boogey men because their supports don’t understand economics. They just ‘feel’ they are ripped out. ‘Feel’ they should be pay more.
That is as stupid a statement as those of the progressives who blame corporations.
Biden has been remarkably unwilling to intervene in these market price shocks. That is good. The price of eggs was not too high because people kept buying eggs. Had people stopped, the price would have dropped.
The highest price I saw was Nov 8, 2022 $8.99/18 eggs ($4.99/dozen). I was told at a Deli that their low sodium turkey was unavailable due to the avian flu and that they didn’t know when it would be restocked. In June 2023, eggs are now as low as $2.13/dozen
It is obvious the bird flu contributed to the rise in eggs as millions of laying chickens were killed, but so did increased energy costs due to bad oil policy and money printing. The initial rise was caused by all three, that they came down again had to do more with the reduction in killing chickens as the bird flu subsided.
Steep rises in prices generally have more than one contributing factor.
I get paid more than $90 to $100 per hour for working online. I heard about this job 3 months ago and after joining this I have earned easily $21k from this without having online working skills . Simply give it a shot on the accompanying site…

Here is I started…………….>>> http://www.SmartCash1.com
Of course it was the Avian flu. The progressives who say otherwise are as disingenuous — or stupid — as the right wing COVID deniers who said that lockdowns weren’t necessary to save lives.
Now that the 2020 figures have been properly tallied, there is still no convincing evidence that strict lockdowns reduced the death toll from COVID-19. But one effect is clear: more deaths from other causes, especially among the young and middle-aged, minorities and the less affluent.
The best gauge of the pandemic’s impact is what statisticians call excess mortality, which compares the overall number of deaths with the total in previous years. That measure rose among older Americans because of COVID-19, but it rose at an even sharper rate among people aged 15 to 54, and most of those excess deaths weren’t attributed to the virus.
Some of those deaths could be undetected COVID-19 cases, and some could be unrelated to the pandemic or the lockdowns. But preliminary reports point to some obvious lockdown-related factors.
My next door neighbor solved the egg price problem. He built a henhouse. Yes they are legal in New York City.
My sister-in-law had laying hens, and they molted at the height of the prices, so she had to buy her eggs during the price rise.
Most chickens will stop laying eggs while molting. Molting typically occurs each year when sunlight hours are decreasing in the lead-up to winter.
This is because molting is also a time when chickens stop laying eggs as they need to give their reproductive organs a rest and channel nutrients into feather growth. Most chickens halt egg production in the winter anyway. Chickens need a good 14 hours of natural light a day to lay at their best, so taking a break and molting makes perfect sense.
Yes we live in the far North of the USA.
From what I’ve read, and I”ve tried to follow this closely, millions of birds were ordered slaughtered by government agents, often on farms that had not yet seen any sign of any illness in any of their birds. A crazy raging over-reaction.
What if…. a given farmer wanted to wait and see how HIS birds fared? Maybe some would be immune naturally and not die. Keep the dead/dying birds cleaned up and safely disposed of, let the others live today. If they’re still alive in a week, they DO have natural immunity, bred those to replace the ones that died. Don’t sell any of the g=eggs until the flocks are clean again. this is stupi simple. But when gummit dweebs are driving the wagon, no ine gets to even think.
Gymmit is-manglement of this flu reminds me a whole lot of their insane “management” of a different sort of vie russ that was unleashed upon us a couple years earlier.
The government reaction and response to t=both diseases was far worse than the actual disease they were “trying” to control or eliminate. Not all birds/humans will get sick, no matter how many othera do. I never got sick.. and I never did any of the “gotta dooitt” things da gummit shoved down our throats. I just carried on as if life were normal.. and guess what? It was and remains so. And no suckness ever came upon me. Good thig I wasn;t a chicken or some gummit goon would have cheerfully ordered ME killed to “prevent” someone else “getting it”.
In case anyone thinks I’ve no knowledge of that which I address, wrong!!! I’ve studied disease transmission, contagion, immunology, population biology, statistics, and genetics, as well as how diet and environment affects susceptibility to disease. ALL of them applicable to and ralting to this situation.
Gummit blew it once more. Ya’d think they practiced that frequently they are SO consistent. .
Avian flu….right. A couple chickens break out with a runny nose and the feds crawl in and destroy 250,000 birds. Then two months ago a barn with more than 13,000 chickens burns down. Just last week another oil refinery catches fire and a wealthy family goes down in a private jet.
Nothing to see here, move along.
For me, dealing with documents has always been a challenge, but with the help of following website, things have become easier. More specifically, the process itself has been easy and convenient, and most importantly, safe. PandaNotary provides reliable notarization services and I recommend them to anyone who wants to make the process easier and save time. Good luck with that.
She keeps it in her purse!!
Part of liberal philosophy is believing minorities are dumb and “pandering” to them by talking down to them.

I heard of the Cubano sandwich long before Sarc (lol!) but I have yet to eat one.
It would have to be made with city ham instead of country ham, since the salt in country ham made me woozy last time I ate it.
