Drug Dealers Are Now Being Charged With Human Trafficking
Plus: Chinese authorities contact protesters, smoking rates fall dramatically, and more…

Laws meant to stop "modern slavery" and "human trafficking" are being stretched beyond comprehension, once again. When most people hear a term like "human trafficking," they imagine someone being violently abducted, possibly smuggled across borders, and forced into something like manual labor or prostitution. But laws against human trafficking—or, as it's often referred to in the U.K., "modern slavery"—target a much wider range of conduct, including actions way less severe than the modern slavery label would imply. Human trafficking laws are frequently used to justify stings on sex workers, and charges may be levied against sex workers themselves or anyone who facilitates their business, even when all parties are consenting. Now, the U.K. is further twisting the meaning of human trafficking, this time to go after people who sell drugs.
Glodi Wabelua was the test case for this sort of prosecution. As a teenage immigrant with few prospects, Wabelua began selling drugs. Eventually working his way up from drug runner to shift supervisor, the 20-year-old Wabelua wound up overseeing the business of other drug runners, including a 16-year-old boy. After the boy was caught—and criminally charged—Wabelua was charged with trafficking him.
The boy told police that he was selling drugs of his own volition and that Wabelua had not forced or coerced him into doing so. But it didn't matter. The U.K. has taken a very broad view of human trafficking, using its Modern Slavery Act to target anyone who employs a minor in the drug trade.
Now aged 28 and released from prison, Wabelua is subject to the extreme restrictions that come with slave master convictions. "He cannot rent an apartment or a car without the approval of a probation officer. He cannot date someone without reporting his relationship. Every inch of his life, from his bank account to his internet history, can be inspected," The New York Times reports in a lengthy look at Wabelua's story and its broader implications. "He cannot be near children, or go to schools or youth clubs. And, most critically, he needs the government's blessing before he can accept a job. Any breach can send him back to prison for up to five years."
Wabelua was the first drug dealer to be prosecuted under the U.K.'s Modern Slavery Act, but not the last. There's no doubt "that slavery prosecutions are on the rise, and that the authorities are targeting domestic drug dealers—even more so than the cross-border human traffickers who inspired the law," says the Times. "A survey of five years' worth of local news reports shows that most of the defendants in drug-related slavery cases were Black men under 21. Many, if not all, were only one rung removed from the streets themselves."
It's not difficult to theorize why authorities like using human trafficking laws against drug dealers and sex workers. Laws targeting prostitution and low-level drug crimes may seem overly punitive to you and me, but for many authoritarians these punishments don't go far enough. By ratcheting up the charges to human trafficking or modern slavery, officials can subject sex workers and drug dealers to much longer periods of incarceration, larger fines, and more stringent restrictions on movement, employment, free association, free speech, and privacy.
In addition, claims of targeting "human trafficking" or "modern slavery" tend to give authorities carte blanche for whatever law enforcement spending and civil liberties infringements they like. But in order to justify these claims, authorities need—at least sometimes—to actually convict some people of human trafficking. Estimates of the prevalence of human trafficking are wildly inflated, however, which makes catching actual human traffickers difficult. But authorities can juice their numbers by charging drug dealers, sex workers, etc., with human trafficking. Expanding the definition of human trafficker means more convictions, which in turn means huge "increases" in human trafficking numbers that authorities can point to in order to further justify expanding the police state to stop this crime.

Crackdown on protests in China? "People in China who attended weekend protests against Covid restrictions say they have been contacted by police, as authorities begin clamping down," reports the BBC. (More on the protests here.) "Several people in Beijing said police had called demanding information about their whereabouts. It is unclear how police might have discovered their identities."

Smoking rates among young people have dropped dramatically over the past two decades, falling from 35 percent in 2001–2003 to 12 percent in the latest Gallup poll. Overall, the percent of U.S. adults who smoke cigarettes has dropped to 11 percent.
"These trend data on smoking by age are based on aggregated data from Gallup's annual Consumption Habits survey, conducted each year from 2001 to 2022 with the exception of 2020," notes Gallup. "Three-year aggregates provide sufficiently large samples to get stable estimates of young adults' smoking habits over time, as well as the ability to analyze subgroups of 18- to 29-year-old adults."
More:
In contrast to the decline in cigarette smoking among young adults, use of marijuana in this age group has increased, according to Gallup trends dating to 2013. Between 2019 and 2022, an average of 26% of young adults indicated they smoked marijuana, up from 17% between 2013 and 2015.
More than twice as many young adults now say they smoke marijuana as smoke cigarettes. Marijuana smoking is also more common among young adults than vaping.
Marijuana usage has also climbed in recent years among adults between the ages of 30 and 64, while it has been stable at a low level among senior citizens.

Awww. The idiot can't even tell time. That was from the same time period dummy. See "1 year ago".
Damn. Stop clowning yourself.
Maybe because you get shitfaced then post nonsense, then deny it later?
Why don’t you post links to some of the threads where muting “sarcasmic” mutes other handles, but not this one, proving the impersonator was a different account?
Edit: that would require honesty, and a typical police officer makes JesseAz look trustworthy by comparison.
"Why don’t you post links to some of the threads where muting “sarcasmic” mutes other handles"
Except that I did exactly that, and then you ghosted the thread. Then you spammed another thread saying I hadn't, so I again did and you ghosted that one too.
Now you've pretended to mute me so you can continue to make that phony claim because you're as weaselly as you are stupid.
Cite? ML responded to your assertion yet again. Going to ignore him today as well?
I will ignore him until there is a reply to one of his posts that tells me he posted the link he initially said was proof that I was spoofing other accounts. Until he noticed muting it didn't mute this account. That's when he saw he had proof that I'm innocent of what he's been accusing me of for years. Given a choice between admitting to being wrong or being a sack of shit, he chose to be a sack of shit.
So you'll keep accusing him of things then ignore his responses to it.
Yeap. Sounds like a sane tactic and totally not dishonest.
Until a reply to one of his posts indicates that he has told the truth, the piece of shit liar will remain on mute.
He’ll remain on mute until he posts what you want? Say that back to yourself real slowly and tell me it makes sense.
Yeap. Totally honest discourse. Youre doing great.
There is no point in discourse with liars.
You're the liar you little shithead.
I posted all the examples you demanded from me, so you ghosted the thread and then put me on mute so you could claim you never saw them.
What a cheap coward.
So everybody should mute you then Sarc? He is responding directly to your accusation just like yesterday and has provided evidence prior in threads you ghosted.
And when I see a reply to one of his posts that is from a human being, not a piece of garbage like yourself, I may relent.
Edit: ghosting means you were part of a discussion and then left. I'm not ghosting. I'm muting. When I see a reply to one of his posts that leads me to believe he's recanted his accusations of me socking everyone based upon his own evidence that I'm not the impersonator, I may take him off mute.
May.
I know what the truth is, and I value your opinion like I value dog shit on the beach. So I don't really care. However I will keep bringing it up just to show how Mother's Lament is human garbage.
And continue to ignore his response so you can keep claiming it despite it being wrong. Totally sane and not dishonest.
You dont know the truth about a lot of shit. Arguments from ignorance is one of your fortes.
I'm not wrong. He is a liar. As are you.
So yeah I'll keep the piece of shit on mute until a reply to one of his posts indicates that he's telling the truth.
You’ve officially gone insane.
Gone? This is the asshole who said he would feed his ex wife horse meat because she likes horses. Total sociopath.
I forgot about that. Hope his daughter never tells him she likes dogs and cats.
"So yeah I’ll keep the piece of shit on mute until a reply to one of his posts indicates that he’s telling the truth."
1. This makes sense to the little drunken retard somehow. If he can't see the links then that means they weren't posted and I'm the liar instead of him.
2. Sarcasmic is an attention whore. When Ken, Chumby and Soldiermedic muted him it broke his soul. He threatens it because he thinks it's the ultimate punishment.

Democrat state legislatures on track to have veto-proof majorities = good
Republican state legislatures on track to have veto-proof majorities = BAD!
Most people think veto-proof majorities are a bad thing. But you do you.
Arizona County supervusors are certifying the results under duress. Apparently they've been threatened with criminal charges if they refuse to certify.
"I vote 'aye' under duress," Mohave County Supervisor Ron Gould said while casting his vote. "I found out today that I have no choice but to vote 'Aye' or I will be arrested and charged with a felony. I don't think that that is what the founders had in mind when they used the democratic process to elect our leaders."
Both Hobbs and Election super lawyer Marc Elias have made the threats to these officials.
Maricopa voted unanimously to certify despite 78% of the county election workers stating they had no faith in their election in the county. The certification meeting had over an hour of public testimony against the county election process citing broken machines, Uncounted votes from voters showing them not having voted when they did, and other issues.
Truly the best way to demonstrate clean elections.
It is also becoming clear that the slow counting of ballots is a means to stop questions of an election as the certification date is written into the law. So delaying vote counts for 2 weeks essentially removes 66% of the time available to seek remedy or investigate issues of the election.
https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/arizona-counties-election-certification-lawsuits-testimonies-supervisors
No widespread corruption.
No unofficial corruption.
Democracy is dead, and the Democrats are holding the bloody knife.
Meanwhile, Cochise County seems to be holding their ground.
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3753724-republican-led-arizona-county-sued-over-election-certification-delay/
The board voted 2-1 against the certification, citing concerns about voting machines that had been spouted by a three conspiracy theorists who claimed they were not properly accredited.
That machine accreditation happened on Pennsylvania too.
Seems legit. /sarc
But Jeff and Sarc say this doesn't happen.
Can someone confirm for me that the election officials that screwed up this count/certification so bad in republican heavy districts are in fact democrats?
See, this is BOAF SIDEZism.
Whataboutism would be pointing out that Hobbs didn’t recuse herself.
BOAF SIDEZism constitutes many more dimensions. Notably, your issue of partisanship doesn’t really make sense or resolve the issue. Presumably, Republican supervisors wouldn’t be spoiling any votes. Even if they were, they wouldn’t be spoiling votes where Republicans won. Even if they, for some byzantine reason that only makes sense in your own head, does it get better if some apartisan political nobody is forced to certify shitty election results under duress in the context of Hobbs not recusing herself?
BOAF SIDEZism is the selective imposition of 1 or 2 dimensional politics in an n-dimensional political space where left or right doesn’t just not make any sense, but would be insignificant in the larger, wider scope of more field-effect forces.
It's like the COVID issue below. Nobody's saying Republicans should've been in charge of the CDC mandating untested and unsafe vaccines to children. But if you go looking through historical political space long enough, you'll find a Republican somewhere who did something that somebody, or several, from a certain frame of reference in said space can equivocate between Republicans and Democrats. You're taking an n-dimensional space, much of which has nothing to do with either side, and collapsing it to a frame of reference by which there is only the dimension of left and right. And, despite any assertions about being transcendentally non-partisan, doing it obviously and motivatedly. You, that person, isn't at all non-partisan, they're just another partisan with a different, and seemingly pointedly chosen, frame of reference.
So I think it more like this:
"Bothsidesing refers to the media or public figures [or commenters] giving credence to the other side of a cause, action, or idea to seem fair or only for the sake of argument when the credibility of that side may be unmerited... "
https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/bothsidesing-bothsidesism-new-words-were-watching
There are several distinctions between that definition and what I’m talking about, but two cruxes being “*a* cause, action, or idea” and “to seem fair or only for the sake of argument”.
So, what’s it called when it’s a *series* of causes, actions, or ideas and zero shits are given about being fair or any given argument (let alone any side in that argument)? Because it’s no longer about giving one side undue credit for any given cause, action, or idea for the sake of argument. In other game-related situations, this is known by things like ‘rigging’, ’tilting the table’, or ‘the house always wins’ rulemaking. You could go with ‘cheating’, but there’s no rule that says Hobbs has to recuse herself or the house has to offer perfectly fair games. Even if they did, they could selectively welch on any outcomes and achieve the same ends.
I would normally call this 'bad faith' but, again, bad faith doesn't exactly care about any/all sides or invoke a notion of protracted fairness or equivalence.
TL, DR;
BOAF SIDEZism = bothsidesism with prejudice.
My intent was to challenge the idea that this screw up is caused by democrats to steal republican votes rather than just being incompetence (possibly caused by republican officials). I haven't seen the evidence of that, but is stated as fact in many posts here. If that's Boaf sidezism then I'm guilty as charged.
As I've said many times here. I prefer republicans strongly over democrats especially since the demise of the neocons and the rise of the woke. I just think republicans are their own worst enemy when it comes to this election fraud rhetoric. Put up or shut up already.
The vast majority of issues only occurred in gop heavy areas. The initial estimate is that 70% of areas effected voted for Lake by a 55-42 margin.
And again, 2 of the supervisors in Maricopa had a PAC that ran against Lake.
If I'm not mistaken, there's a pretty accurate count of the number of voters affected by the delays. And there has yet to be any actual proven votes missing or lost.
Maricopa admitted to a number in the hundreds. Election officials disagree. Multiple people have contacted the board saying their votes were not counted as they were not properly checked out of their initial voting location making their votes not count at the second location.
The total number of instances like above are still unknown. They solely used the books to check on numbers.
They also had many contacts saying voters left after a multiple hour delay, with discussions at the board meeting yesterday having voters saying they had to wait for up to 4 hours to vote.
SO no, they haven't done anything of the sort.
If that’s Boaf sidezism then I’m guilty as charged.
I should've been more clear. A question is not necessarily or exactly an argument. If asked simply to know the political leanings of any given election official, fairly asked and for Ron Gould, being a Republican, fairly answered.
However, if, as indicated, you only asked because "MUH REPUBLICANZ IS ELEKSHUN TAMPURIN TOO!", well then BOAHF SIDEZ!. (See how the two, or more, issues became linked?)
So you are saying BOAF SIDEZ is different than "both sides?" I was not aware. I'm not a social media person (or young) so I guess I missed this.
Anyway, no, I don't think republicans are tampering with elections. My doubt is that anyone is tampering with the elections illegally. (I acknowledge Dems favor mail-in/early or anything-that-makes-it-easier voting because it favors them.) My question was a challenge for evidence that this is deliberate rather than just incompetence. I shouldn't have assumed it needed to be democrats doing the tampering, but that is the accusation I often see.
Jesse presented evidence of motive for deliberate tampering. It's not conclusive, but my challenge was met. Still, a citation would be nice.
"My doubt is that anyone is tampering with the elections illegally."
Let me restate that: My doubt is that anyone is tampering with the elections illegally enough to change the outcome of the election.
"My intent was to"
simp for establishment/leftist authority, as it is in all your posts.
It's always great to hear from you, Nardz.
"Presumably, Republican supervisors wouldn’t be spoiling any votes."
So the three questions this sentence raises:
1) Were any votes "spoiled"? Because I have seen a lot of claims by angry losers, but no actual confirmation.
2) Who were the "spoiled" votes supposedly cast for? The assumption by the angry losers seems to be that they were 100% for them, but again there seems to be no proof.
3) Why should we presume Republican supervisors wouldn't misbehave? The cases in Florida that have been proved to be intentional voter fraud were from Trump voters in the Villages. In fact the majority of proven fraudulent voting schemes have been committed by Republicans. They even had to redo an entire election in North Carolina due to Republican voter fraud. So the more reasonable presumption would be that the Republican supervisors were untrustworthy.
BOAF SIDEZ is a slanted version of whataboutism. Using it as an unsupported challenge to valid questions about the foundational premises of a flawed conclusion doesn't make the point you think it does.
They don’t have to be democrats. 2 of the Maricopa supervisors established an anti trump pac going against Kari Lake. Hobbs was the SoS in charge of elections as well.
Do you think if you can point a finger at someone and say GOP it means the election was run well or cleanly?
“2 of the Maricopa supervisors established an anti trump pac going against Kari Lake”
Thank you, Jesse. This is exactly what I was asking for and you provided. I'll be happy to be proved wrong. Do you have a link?
https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2021/11/26/maricopa-county-recorder-stephen-richer-creates-pro-democracy-pac-which-enters-him-into-rarity-elect/8672763002/
Doh! Paywall. It's appreciated anyway. I'll take your word for it.
you'd have to be an insane Alex Jonesy insurrectionist to have any doubts whatsoever about the absolute ironclad trustworthy integrity of these results. Democracy has spoken.
Doubts are fine. But when those doubts are shown to be unfounded, sane people stop saying that those doubts are justified.
The problem with those claiming election fraud happened is that whenever it was time to put up or shut up, election deniers couldn't do the first and wouldn't do the second.
Nothing has been demonstrated to be unfounded.
Every claim by those who say the 2020 election was stolen have been shown to be unfounded. No widespread voter fraud. No legions of dead people voting. No trucks full of ballots. No suitcases of illegal votes under the table. No banning of observers. No voting machines changing votes. No hacked voting systems. No failure of mail-in ballots to be verified. None of it.
Every time the opportunity arose for any of the "stolen election" claims to be exposed to legal or electoral scrutiny, they either failed to be presented or failed, period. None of the ever-shifting goalposts or ever-changing claims about widespread voter fraud have ever been substantiated.
Every time an investigation into voter fraud (like Florida's) is initiated, the results are the same as always: almost no intentional voter fraud. The cherry on top? More cases of intentional voter fraud for Republicans have been found since it became the rallying cry of the idiot fringe of the GOP. Hell, the four cases intentional voter fraud by pro-Trump voters in the Villages may be more than the rest of Florida combined.
When someone claims something, yet repeatedly fails to present evidence of it, reasonable people call that claim "unfounded".
3 weeks to make sure all the votes are counted?
If the time required to count votes is roughly the same as in past elections, is that OK? Or are you just saying a period of time out of context (where did this happen? Was it aberrant? If a count took longer, was there a reason?) and expecting that to convince anyone with a working brain?
To make it easier for simple minds: time and fraud are not related. Fraud is an action, not a function of the calendar.
It is also becoming clear that the slow counting of ballots is a means to stop questions of an election as the certification date is written into the law. So delaying vote counts for 2 weeks essentially removes 66% of the time available to seek remedy or investigate issues of the election.
---------
Ding ding ding! This is exactly the case, and once again something perfected by Washington State in 2004, when amazingly 60% of King County voted absentee and the results weren't certified until the last possible day.

CDC finally released vaccination health data after a year of lawsuits to get the data, and it is obvious they lied to Americans about completely safe vaccines.
https://justthenews.com/government/courts-law/premeditated-cdc-knew-covid-vax-associated-myocarditis-left-post-vax-surveys
Among the 10 million-plus users of the agency's v-safe active monitoring smartphone app through July — 8.5 million of whom signed up between December 2020 and April 2021, before all adults were eligible for COVID vaccines — nearly 8% said they required medical care after receiving the vaccines.
.
For patients ages 3 and older needing such care, nearly 3 in 4 couldn't rely on telehealth visits. They required urgent care (48%), emergency room (15%) or hospitalization (10%). For infants, who were authorized to receive the jabs this summer and are enrolled in v-safe through parents or guardians, hospitalizations were much lower (2%) but urgent care much higher (66%).
.
Another 12% of v-safe users reported they were unable to perform normal daily activities, and 13% said they missed work or school, meaning 1 in 3 had more than mild adverse reactions.
The numbers above are higher than the risk factors for age groups under 40.

The federal government's plan to track truckers' every movement is a privacy nightmare...
Honk, honk.
Justin Trudeau wants in on this.
^ every so-called 'leader' in the western world wants this.
Agreed. Real-time tracking of law-abiding citizens by the government is something to be resisted. Exactly what is the compelling government interest that would justify this?
"Democracy"?

More unhinged progressive idiocy about Elon Musk, whose Twitter purchase even OBL didn't care about.
Thankfully ENB informed us Twitter is imploding so I won't be going back to this well much longer.
Progressives are such idiots for attacking Musk.

You can say the exact same thing about Nixon. Why progs can't get it through their heads that he was one of them is astounding.
Nixon is a textbook prog hero:
1. Normalized relations with Communist China
2. Ushered in the EPA
3. Used the government to spy on citizens
4. Went on talk shows and played music (Clinton on Arsenio)
5. Was not a croo....scratch this one

The best part of this season for the Cardinals will be the color rush uniforms they had. I thought those were really cool and overall I think they have the best uniforms in the NFL.
The helmets for that set is great.
Kingsbury isn't a good coach, and Kyler is, at his best, an average QB. The contract they gave him was a huge mistake.

Portland solved that by simply not hiring public defenders and dropping cases.
Which cut crime rates in Portland by at least half!
Now businesses closing in Portland because of repeated costs incurred by vandalism and an open air Silk Road experiment is really because greedy small business owners don't want their employees to unionize.
I wish there was some sort of simulation we could plug these twerps into where they are suddenly the ones investing in their small business who have hire malcontents and deal with city hall who thinks broken plate glass windows are the price of doing business

Yes, I read that over the weekend & I remember the owner saying the insurance stopped paying out after the third time the giant plate glass window was broken. "The U.K. has taken a very broad view of human trafficking, using its Modern Slavery Act to target anyone who employs a minor in the drug trade."
Look, in a properly curated society, any deviance is a social crime. Labels like "human trafficking" and "modern slavery" have nothing to do with the particulars of the offense, but are simply levels of severity that then justify degrees of punishment.
Oh crap.
https://news.sky.com/story/nato-says-ukraine-will-one-day-join-alliance-as-it-meets-to-promise-further-aid-12757983
"NATO's door is open," Jens Stoltenberg said, reiterating a vow made by NATO leaders in 2008 that Ukraine and also Georgia would eventually join the alliance.
They want war.
Who doesn't?
War! Huh! What is it good for? Absolutely nothin' (except propping up corrupt authoritarian regimes and justifying further power grabs while enriching the military industrial complex and other elite donors and power players on the back of their people)!
Hmm, might need a little work, just doesn't roll off the tongue very well.
And let's give the Euro-trash a little credit here - it's been over 3/4's of a century since the last time they got into a continent spanning war that pulled the rest of the world in and left tens of millions of people dead. They've shown incredible restraint.
At this point it's hard to deny that Ukraine needs a larger defensive organization to help it stay free of Russia.
Russia is now targeting civilian infrastructure, trying to destroy power and water sources for the entire country as winter begins. Ukraine has a plan in place for electric production using generators that has been surprisingly successful, but almost all of Kyiv's water treatment plants have been destroyed.
Let's face it. Once Russia gets pushed out of Ukrainian territory (yes, including Crimea), Ukraine will be welcomed into NATO with open arms. Everyone loves an underdog and when you beat a villain as determined to prove he is a monster as Putun is, you have an almost unassailable moral high ground to speak from.
I don't think Ukraine is worth going to war with Russia over. To be honest, I don't think any other country is worth that. But that opinion will be a minority if Ukraine prevails.
Hopefully this disastrous foreign adventurism will result in Putin losing his position and a more reasonable, less belligerent, less paranoid, and less unstable leader ascending. 2024 may seem like a long time to wait for it, but I doubt this war will be over by then anyway.

According to the court filings, Brinton said when they opened the bag at their hotel, they realized it wasn’t theirs, but got nervous that someone would think they stole it and didn’t know what to do. They said they emptied the luggage and left the person’s clothes inside the drawers of a dresser in the hotel room.
The ability to be both this detached from honesty *and* having graduated from MIT is just mindblowing. Not that an MIT degree confers any sort of morality, but you’d think the logic of returning the case with the clothes rather than scattering the belongings to the four winds would crop up.

Not just Canada, but Google as well. Seems odd that if you Google "suicide booth" it wouldn't take you to a Futurama episode. Similarly, if you Google "suicide drink" it doesn't correct to "Did you mean 'suicide soda'? Showing results for 'suicide soda'" rather than returning the "You obviously meant to use the internet to kill yourself, here's the state-sponsored phone number to help you." response. It gets some/most of the other stuff, 'suicide squeeze', 'suicide squad', 'suicide blonde'... right.

There are few things more revealing of an authoritarian mindset than wanting Google and Apple to use their monopoly power to act as internet overlords, dictating who can and can't be heard, what ideas are and are not permitted.
Yet that's our situation and so many seem grateful.
As a reflection of how twisted and inverted our politics have become, in order to be a good "liberal" or "leftist," one now much demand that the internet be censored by Silicon Valley monopolies.
To oppose this abuse of monopoly power somehow means you're on "the far right."

There are few things more revealing of an authoritarian mindset than wanting Google and Apple to use their monopoly power to act as internet overlords
Not just that, but to do so at the government's beck and call. Next time some leftist shitstain who's in favor of this shit calls someone else a "fascist" they should maybe go take a long look in the mirror.
one of the most interesting thing about this realignment is the left is firmly on the side of state sponsored authoritarianism through the vehicles of big corporations and big pharma. Take the vaccine, dont ask questions, because pfizer said so. Consume woke propaganda, and hate yourself for the sin of being alive. Dont say anything not sanctioned by the gov+big tech or else you will be silenced. The fascists of old would have clamored for the propaganda machine and power the current left has.
Theyve always had the authoritarian streak, but they seemed to have incorporated a lot of the worst of the old GOP into their tactics.
The important battle is no longer R's vs D's. Its populists vs authoritarians, IMO
"Take the vaccine, dont ask questions, because pfizer said so."
And yet the public was left to their own choice whether they wanted to get vaccinated or not.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And Fauci never recommended lockdowns.
The topic was vaccines.

And the only reason they couldn't put the screws to people even harder was thanks to the Trump SCOTUS.
Jo Jorgensen was advocating mandatory vaccinations?!
You know damn well who. It's the guy Boehm was reluctantly voting for.
President literally demonized the 'unvaxxed' (in a speech chalk full of actual medical misinformation) and the democrats did everything in their power to see that people that didnt get it couldnt work (govt workers), couldnt go to school (blue area schools). They basically came down on the side of "take your medicine, or we will make your life miserable". They also locked down everything they could, for much longer than was in the realm of rationality.
Pretending it was anything else is gaslighting.
There’s a huge difference between the President saying mean things and a mandate.
You mean like Biden's OSHA mandate?
The OSHA mandate was started by Donald J. Trump. Biden extended it.
What fucking planet are you living on? The Biden Administration created the OSHA mandate, lock, stock, and barrel. Don't gaslight us, Mike, just don't.
You're getting your executive fiats mixed up. The CDC eviction moratorium was started under Trump and is arguably the greatest extent of executive overreach during his term. Then Biden extended the moratorium even after SCOTUS intonated it was unconstitutional. But then he eclipsed that overreach by breaking his campaign promise and mandating via OSHA that nearly every working person get jabbed or else test/mask/genuflect. These are objective facts of history.
just stop, you're embarrassing yourself mike
That's not possible, sir.
Fuck off, liarson.
Mike wow.
So, you have no response of substance. Just that you feelz I’m out of line by stating the facts.

Hell, might as well prosecute all employers for wage slavery.
What's worse, Nazis telling slaves that work will set them free? Or Marxists telling people that all work for pay is slavery?
Ask Putin. He could go with either of them.
Laws meant to stop "modern slavery" and "human trafficking" are being stretched beyond comprehension, once again.
It's cute you thought that's what these laws were meant to do.

It would also continues to prohibit polygamous marriage,"
Special marriage protections for you! but not for them!
This sort of shit bothers me worse than legally recognizing same-sex couplings as marriages does. Religion got nuthin' to do with it, so carve-outs based on religion just cement the false idea that marriage is a religious institution. And then, laws regarding polygamy are about something else entirely. It's one thing to regulate how many marriages one may be a party to simultaneously, and another to tell people what marriage is and make that too a regulatory matter rather than a customary one. It would be like trying to reform Jim Crow laws by deeming people Caucasian by more liberal criteria.

Great time to dig trenches to prepare for the culture war long haul: tweak the districting, ballot access laws, voting laws to favor your party!
You say that as if it's a bad thing.
Usually in a strong-governor state (where the governor has veto power), it doesn't matter because when one party dominated by that much, they hold the governorship too.

With Beijing now trying to contain what some are calling the most serious mass uprising since Tiananmen Square, Apple is apparently helping them to crush dissent.
Earlier this month, Apple restricted the use of AirDrop in China, which protesters had been using to evade censorship.
AirDrop allows local connections between devices, meaning it cannot be monitored or censored by local authorities.

Unless of course, the authorities get REAL local. Like, beating you over the head with a stick local.
Apple is not the good guy. Never has been. All the Apple fanbois will not care.

It remains to be seen if this 'uprising' has legs. It would be helpful to the US if this uprising did actually have some legs. A China absorbed and completely distracted with quelling internal dissent (however they do that over there) will be less likely to strike out at others (like Taiwan).
Perhaps there are other sharing apps out there that cannot be monitored by China's Big Brother apparatus.

t would be helpful to the US nation state
Fixed it.
Well, 'US national interest' would be most precise. It would very much be in the US national interest for China to reverse their malign activities because they are completely distracted with quelling internal dissent.
