Biden's $1.9 Trillion COVID Relief Package Includes More Stimulus Checks, State Government Bailout, $15 Federal Minimum Wage

On the brighter side, Biden wants 100 million vaccinations in 100 days and will push for immediate school reopenings.

President-elect Joe Biden called Thursday night for a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 package that will include another round of relief checks for most Americans, a bailout for state and local governments, boosted unemployment payments, and a higher federal minimum wage.

The package is the first part of what Biden called a two-step plan to get America through the rest of the pandemic. The second part will be the centerpiece of Biden's first State of the Union address, scheduled for next month.

Biden's proposals combine elements of last year's COVID-19 bills with some Democratic priorities that didn't make the cut. Biden will have slim Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress, but he stressed the need for bipartisan support on a spending package that he described as a response to a "crisis of deep human suffering."

"During this pandemic, millions of Americans, through no fault of their own, have lost the dignity of a job and a paycheck," Biden said. "It's tested us beyond measure."

About half the total cost of the proposal is aimed at households and unemployed workers. Biden wants Congress to approve $1,400 checks—on top of the $600 that individuals who earned less than $87,000 in 2019 received this month, as well as the $1,200 payments approved as part of the first COVID stimulus bill Congress passed in March 2020. It is unclear if there will be income cut-offs for the new payments, but Biden said he would push Congress to include adult dependents (such as college students) in the payments to households, even though they had been excluded from the $600 payments that Congress approved last month.

According to an analysis by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonprofit that advocates for balanced budgets, the new round of direct payments would cost $465 billion. Biden also called for Congress to expand the federal child tax credit from $2,000 per child to $3,000 per child, which would reduce federal revenue by about $120 billion per year.

Another major element of Biden's plan is a $400-per-month federal supplement to state unemployment payments, which will continue through September. That comes with a price tag of $350 billion.

Biden is also proposing $170 billion to assist in reopening schools and a $350 billion bailout of state and local governments. And on top of all that, Biden called for raising the national minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Those last two details may be the most contentious details. Democrats pushed for a similar bailout in earlier negotiations over COVID stimulus bills, but Senate Republicans blocked them. Democrats will have a slim Senate majority once the winners of two Georgia run-off elections are sworn-in, but the case for a state bailout remains shaky.

Democrats may still need Republican votes for much of Biden's plan. The reconciliation process could be used to amend existing tax and budget matters with a simple majority vote in the Senate—perhaps to do something like adjusting the amount of the child tax credit—but relief checks and a state government bailout will likely require 60 votes.

That may also explain why some other Democratic priorities, such as the restoration of the state and local tax deduction (the "SALT" deduction), are not included in the package Biden outlined Thursday. The abolition of the SALT deduction was a major element of the tax overhaul passed by Republicans in 2017, and undoing that would likely cost Biden any shot at GOP support for this proposal.

The big unanswered question is how Biden plans to pay for it all. Thanks to years of poor budgeting and overzealous spending by Congress and President Donald Trump, America faces a $3 trillion budget deficit and a national debt that's zooming towards $30 trillion. An additional $1.9 trillion will only add to the nation's already overburdened credit card.

Biden did not address plans for spending offsets or tax increases in his speech. An unnamed Biden official told The Wall Street Journal on Thursday that the president-elect did not believe now was the time for worrying about widening budget deficits and that Biden's focus was on the more immediate emergency.

Previously, Biden has indicated that he will push for higher taxes on corporations and on individuals making more than $400,000 annually.

In the coming days, Biden intends to outline his plans for a national vaccination effort, including an ambitious goal to deliver 100 million vaccinations during the new administration's first 100 days. To the extent that Biden can in fact streamline the process and get more shots in more arms, that's welcome. So too is a push to reopen the schools as soon as possible. And targeted relief for unemployed workers will help people harmed by the pandemic and by the government-imposed lockdowns it inspired.

But near-universal $1,400 checks are not good policy, no matter how popular they might be. States and local governments have the ability to make their own taxing and spending decisions and should not expect or require federal aid—and certainly not when the federal government is in such dire fiscal straits on its own. And ambitious plans to increase social spending and hike wages that don't have anything to do with the pandemic should be considered separately.

Congress should scrutinize each element of Biden's "part one" relief plan, and pass only the proposals that will directly and immediately help to end the pandemic or relieve its effects.

      1. What NOT to do: jack the minimum wage when unemployment is high among unskilled workers.

      2. At this point, it no longer matters. The republic is done (and has been since the first unreadable omnibus bill with the phrase, “The Secretary shall, at his discretion…” was signed into law by Caesar in the distant past), and the Zombie Empire that replaced it lurches on with zero accountability.

    2. Except “everyone” doesn’t get it. It’s blatant redistribution.

      1. You mean redistribution to rectify the insanely kleptocratic tax cuts Trump passed as his only accomplishment as president?

                It should not.

        2. No, just redistribution.

But . . . Kudos on the most ridiculous straw man I’ve seen this week.

        3. $15 Federal Minimum Wage

Seriously? Job killer right here. Especially for my state, where the minimum wage is around half that. This will cause instant and large scale inflation. If this is seriously being proposed, its time to immediately safeguard against inflation with trading US currency with tangible assets immediately.

The price of my fast food is about to double. The price of a gallon of milk is about to double. The price of a loaf of bread is about to double. So it really doesn't help the poor to increase the minimum wage. They are getting paid more, but now all of a sudden everything is going up in price. But it does take the value of the money that I have right now, and cuts it in half.

You mean redistribution to rectify the insanely kleptocratic tax cuts Trump passed as his only accomplishment as president?

There were tax cuts across the board to everyone. The corporate tax rate was obscene and needed to be lowered. The economy immediately picked up after the tax cuts passed by republicans. Can you give us an example of how the tax cuts were "kleptocratic?"

BTW - you don't seem like a libertarian at all. Nobody said redistribution was a rectification, except for you. You really think that?

Trust me, the leftists have far bigger designs than a stimulus check.

The whole "stimulus" thing is ridiculous. Government takes 25% of your income, then later gives 2% of it back and calls it a "stimulus." I'd prefer tax cuts. And I sure hope the dems can keep their "bigger designs" to themselves. They are already at the cusp of assassinations, civil war 2.0, and secession with their current actions and rhetoric.

          1. It won’t cause instant and large-scale inflation, just like it didn’t every other time it was raised.

The purchasing power of the federal minimum wage has done nothing but go down since 1984. All that’s really being asked is to re-index it for inflation for the first time in two generations.

The only science about the negative effects have to do with low-wage jobs that are not desirable for an advanced economy anyway. Make those jobs compete in the marketplace of labor at a $15 minimum. If they’re replaced by robots, good. I’d rather be served a burger from a robot than a disease-ridden teenager.

You’re offering a highly pessimistic economic worldview that only exists in service to the only people who benefit from low wages: the owners. Think they might have some say on political outcomes on questions like these?

The Trump tax cuts were the latest in a string of massive, multitritllion-dollar Republican wealth transfers from the middle class to the rich. That’s the macroeconomic picture, whatever else you can say about Fortune 500 profits. It’s almost like the Fortune 500 are insulating themselves from the actual real-life circumstances of people. You tell me what good is a Wall Street that has no relationship to the economy?

I do think we should redistribute wealth, but not as much as you think we should. You just for some reason no logic could penetrate think that upward redistribution, caused by deliberate government policy, is good and true.

Stop buying into psychotic libertarian notions of morality and you’ll see that for the absurdity it is.

            1. It won’t cause instant and large-scale inflation, just like it didn’t every other time it was raised.

In my state, it would DOUBLE the minimum wage. So - disagree with that!

The purchasing power of the federal minimum wage has done nothing but go down since 1984. All that’s really being asked is to re-index it for inflation for the first time in two generations.

              Why bother?

Some of them might prefer to get paid less, than lose their jobs to robots because a higher minimum wage was implemented.

The only science about the negative effects have to do with low-wage jobs that are not desirable for an advanced economy anyway.

Look Tony. I know you want to get $15/hr for mopping the floor, or taking the garbage out. But it's really not worth it to me. It's better the government not get involved in our contractual arrangements. "Free market" Tony. Key word "Free."

Make those jobs compete in the marketplace of labor at a $15 minimum. If they’re replaced by robots, good. I’d rather be served a burger from a robot than a disease-ridden teenager.

How about make them compete in the marketplace without government getting involved in our transactions. If the price is too low for you - don't take it. If your offer of services is to high for me - I won't take it. Why do you have to get the government involved to leverage, literally, their handcuffs and guns in our negotiations of service?

You’re offering a highly pessimistic economic worldview that only exists in service to the only people who benefit from low wages: the owners. Think they might have some say on political outcomes on questions like these?

So - no. Your premise is false. The market sets the wage. They are already competing. Both sides benefit, because both sides have to agree, before any exchange can be put into affect. You leveraging the government, with guns, to interfere with our transaction, is not libertarian, is not moral, and is being used to extort more money for services not worth their price. Believe it not, not everyone wants a "living wage." Some of them just want a part time job, with a little money on the side for personal expenditures, because their parents are subsidizing most of their lifestyle anyways. Such jobs are not demanding. Are not worth very much. And are not highly skilled jobs. And you leveraging government, with guns, in our transaction, hurts both the employer and employee.

The Trump tax cuts were the latest in a string of massive, multitritllion-dollar Republican wealth transfers from the middle class to the rich.

I didn't pay more tax. I paid less. So no. That is antithetical to reality. There was no "wealth transfer" from middle class to the rich. This didn't happen. At all.

That’s the macroeconomic picture, whatever else you can say about Fortune 500 profits. It’s almost like the Fortune 500 are insulating themselves from the actual real-life circumstances of people. You tell me what good is a Wall Street that has no relationship to the economy?

That is NOT the macroeconomic picture. Wealth and money are not a zero sum game. Everyone has the opportunity to get wealthy. Everyone the opportunity to make money. Money is created through production and value.

I do think we should redistribute wealth, but not as much as you think we should.

lol. I am not advocating for redistributing wealth at all. Engaging in employer/employee negotiations for wages is NOT redistribution of wealth.

You just for some reason no logic could penetrate think that upward redistribution, caused by deliberate government policy, is good and true.

Look tony. There are many, many, many small "corporations" that benefit from the reduction in corporate taxes. Not just the likes of Amazon and Apple. And "upward redistribution" is a marxist idea that everyone's money belongs to the government, and that corporations not paying enough taxes are cheating everyone else. That's your marxist programming at work, Tony: I don't want "equality." I want "freedom." They are not the same. And your conception of "upward redistribution" are antithetical to a free market. Every one of those corporations have already been taxed already, because the individuals within them, had to pay taxes already. Now the corporation themselves (which is just a collection of people working together) get taxed again. Ideally, there should be zero corporate taxes.

Stop buying into psychotic libertarian notions of morality and you’ll see that for the absurdity it is.

And what? Buy into your marxist ones? Hard pass!

              1. It’s good to give government money to corporations, bad to give it to janitors. See above about the twisted morality.

You’ll get used to paying $15 for a janitor. You may have to shift some things around. But then that janitor and all his friends who also make more money can frequent your roach motel more often.

There’s no such thing as competing in a marketplace without government interference. There’s already a minimum wage, so that you cannot employ street urchins as chimney sweeps. For them you get to fork over even more so they get an education and not have to support the types of establishments you run.

The effect of the tax cuts is to take trillions of dollars from one class and give it to another. And there isn’t nearly as much flip-flopping going on between the classes as there would be in a market less regulated to protect wealth.

You can’t just dismiss the reality with some slogans. That’s the effect, and it makes for a worse economy, if you define a healthy economy as having anything to do with human well-being.

                1. Sweden found out that in order to have a thriving economy and encourage the building of strong Swedish companies it had to lower the corporate tax rate to the low 20’s percent. So, you advocate a higher rate than Sweden. Further, Sweden gave up on a favorite government method of redistribution when they eliminated inheritance taxes.

Australia has a staggered minimum wage based on age and experience.

The problem with the political parties here is that it is always a one size fits everyone solution.

                2. It’s good to give government money to corporations, bad to give it to janitors. See above about the twisted morality.

As I have indicated above, the individuals of said corporations are already paying and getting money back. The "corporation" is a group of people (who have already paid taxes!) that just got together to make a product or perform a service. I don't think they should be punished for simply getting together to work together.

You’ll get used to paying $15 for a janitor. You may have to shift some things around. But then that janitor and all his friends who also make more money can frequent your roach motel more often.

They will not make more money, because my theoretical motel will roll the janitor expense into the bill. And so will everyone else nationwide. A loaf a bread, a gallon of milk, a coke at the convenience store, etc. They will all go up in price, as the market corrects for a fake shift in value. You see, congress can't just announce and deem that people that mop floors suddenly have more value than they do. The market determines that - not congress. So in the short term, I will fire the cleaning crew that are not top performers, and I will pay only the best $15/hour. Shortly later, the market will catch up with the ordeal, and I will be making a lot more than I was, and to some degree, proportional to the amount the employee's wage was artificially increased, because the value of the dollar dropped. Aka - instant inflation. But that's fine. I don't even care. It only hurts those affected by the $15 wage increase. And they aren't going to be better off in the long run anyways.

I will say however, that the minimum wage affects workers whose product or service goes abroad. Because abroad they didn't get a minimum wage right. So in that case, demand will decrease for that product or service supplied by the US, because the price artificially jumped (from their perspective). That will result in fewer orders, and possibly diverting jobs from the US to other countries where street urchins are readily available and willing to do the job for less. (It's all voluntary). This will result in increased economic stagnation in the US, and higher unemployment rates. (But it will be great for places like China).

There’s no such thing as competing in a marketplace without government interference. There’s already a minimum wage, so that you cannot employ street urchins as chimney sweeps. For them you get to fork over even more so they get an education and not have to support the types of establishments you run.

The minimum wage is just a shift in numbers. Everyone's numbers increase when a minimum wage is instantiated. After market correction, I will hire the less competent people fired previously after the wage hike at $15 minimum wage prices. And that's fine. Why? Because $15 wont buy you much at all at that point. Look Tony. I don't know if you are an idiot, or you just need education. In 1998, I worked for $5.15/hr. You know how much a burger cost at the fast food joint? A burger, some fries, and a drink, cost about $5. Now, in my state, it is $7.50/hr minimum wage. You know how much a burger, some fries, and drink cost? About $7.30. Hopefully you understand.

The effect of the tax cuts is to take trillions of dollars from one class and give it to another.

That's not how tax cuts work Tony. 1) Wealth in the US isn't a zero sum game. 2) A tax cut means the one that paid the money, pays less.

And there isn’t nearly as much flip-flopping going on between the classes as there would be in a market less regulated to protect wealth.

Our currently regulations aren't to protect wealth, but to subsidize your existence and the existence of other people who got fired after the wage increase, because they were not top performers who stayed on. Further, I'm not sure why you feel the need to separate people in classes - unless you are a classist.

You can’t just dismiss the reality with some slogans. That’s the effect, and it makes for a worse economy, if you define a healthy economy as having anything to do with human well-being.

You are dismissing the reality of the consequentialism surrounding minimum wage hikes: Tony - There is no free lunch. If you want your time to be worth more, you have to invest in yourself, education, training, specialization. You have to be able to provide extreme competence at a fast and cheap price while it be profitable to you, and ideally, scalable. Congress can't create value out of thin air by simply decree. It doesn't work that way.
                  It's never worked that way.

            2. Less than 1% of the employed are on minimum wage for an average time period of 6 months.

God damn tony. Stop with the idiotic talking points.

              1. So why is it going to wreck the economy?

Sounds like a cheap way to buy some human well-being.

                1. So why is it going to wreck the economy? Sounds like a cheap way to buy some human well-being.

It's not going to wreck the economy. It's going to get a bunch of minimum wage earners fired in the short term. In the long term, it's going to reduce the value of the dollar.

            3. Tony, minimum wage increases don’t have much impact when they’re below the market minimum wage. This would be way, way above it in almost all markets.

Forget summer jobs for teens, they’re about to become a thing of the past. And that’s just the beginning.

On the bright side, robots might be less likely to screw up my drive through order. But that’s the only upside I see here: The government can’t make it worth a business’s while to pay somebody $15 to do $10 worth of work. All they can do is make it illegal to hire somebody for $10.

              1. If a business is truly on that knife’s edge, then it has a choice to become more efficient or die. We don’t let you sell poisoned food either, even if it costs you a little more. Labor rights are no different. Labor is at a power disadvantage. Their wages will always be beneath what they could negotiate in a market where they were equal players. And minimum wages are the kinds of things negotiated by unions, in much the same way tax write-offs are negotiated by owners. Since in your infinite wisdom you killed all the unions, might as well skip the middleman. Or would you like to give people back all the freedoms you took away before they had a “right to work”?

                1. The disadvantage is only for unskilled labor. The onus is on the individual to acquire skills. I can see where the Democrats need these kinds of protection as most are either unskilled or have the wrong skills,

                2. It is not a power mis-match, it is a demand/supply situation. The U.S. generates a large supply of unskilled workers for cultural reasons (highest high-school drop out rate of the industrialized world, highest low skill immigration rate of the industrialized world). It is no wonder our economy struggles to employ them all. Set minimum wages to $15 an hour, and economy will give up trying to use all the labor we produce. The least skilled among us will just be declared by law as permanently unemployable, just as the first minimum wage laws were used to push blacks out of the labor force.

                3. Wages themselves aren’t set arbitrarily. Businesses don’t just throw a dart at the board, choosing to pay whatever the dart lands on. Businesses either pay a wage equivalent to the skill level involved in the job (any job that pay minimum wage is a job any 15 year old with a day’s training can do), or a “premium wage” if those businesses are in a competitive job market and want to attract “top talent”.

The minimum wage, by it’s very existence, is an arbitrary price floor. If that price floor is higher than either the “going wage” or the “premium wage” at least one of three things will occur.

Businesses will raise prices to compensate for higher wage expenses as they’re not charities, which will also effect demand (elasticity and all that jazz) and overall profits.

Business unable to pay their current employees the new minimum wage will reduce their workforce, or invest in non-human labor (think self-checkout machines).

Anyone who currently works for a wage less than the proposed new minimum wage will demand higher wages above the new minimum wages. This will cause an increase in wages at not just below the proposed minimum wage, but also for current wages at or around the proposed minimum wage, and even those above the minimum wage. You might think this good– until you realize that an artificial upward pressure on wages simply means people have more money to spend, which places upward pressure on prices for goods and services, those goods and services whose prices have already been raised due to an upward pressure on wages. Essentially, you place people out of work and then make it so that they’re (even more) unable to afford those same goods and services.

But by and large, Americans don’t understand basic economics. So this will all fall on deaf ears.

                  Jonathan Gruber was right.

                  1. You guys have the same warnings every time this comes up, and they never come to pass.

You’re talking about marginal cases and ignoring the benefit of the policy. Marginal cases will die. Businesses die when they can’t make a profit. That’s what’s supposed to happen, Republican notions of a permanent ruling class of extant plutocrats notwithstanding. In this modest minimum wage increase just to keep up with inflation, there won’t even be that many marginal cases.

Raising prices is just one way to respond to higher labor costs. There’s always excess going somewhere useless, especially when we’ve been paying people such shit wages for so long.

                    1. You’re talking about marginal cases and ignoring the benefit of the policy.

There is no benefits the policy. People getting paid $7.50 in my state are simply not worth $15/hr. Increasing it to $15/hr will get them fired. This results in the unemployment rate increasing. This results in the economy increasing in stagnation. This is because productivity has fallen. Because there are people out of work. In the long term. Eventually it will be lucrative again to hire these incompetent people at $15/hr. This is because the minimum wage hike will result in rapid inflation which results in the value of the dollar falling to compensate (a reaction of the market!) These people will be hired at $15/hr and $15 won't get you very much.

Marginal cases will die. Businesses die when they can’t make a profit.

And those employees will get fired, either way. Pick your poison. Self perceived victimhood of exploitation, or the unemployment line.

That’s what’s supposed to happen, Republican notions of a permanent ruling class of extant plutocrats notwithstanding.

                      1) Most billionaires are democrats.
                      2) Most extant plutocrats are employed in government.
                      3) What is life like looking at everything through a victimhood lens?

In this modest minimum wage increase just to keep up with inflation, there won’t even be that many marginal cases.

Minimum wage increases help cause inflation. So they are already "caught up" with inflation. Increasing the minimum wage will increase inflation. This is because a piece of paper signed by congressmen, doesn't actually create value out a guys time mopping the floor or flipping burgers. Lock in the minimum wage through law, and the market will correct the action by lowering the value of the dollar. And it didn't even lower the value of the dollar. The government did, when they passed a law that says X amount = one hour of this guy's time.</b

Raising prices is just one way to respond to higher labor costs. There’s always excess going somewhere useless, especially when we’ve been paying people such shit wages for so long.

"Somewhere useless" LOL. Tony has never operated a business before. That is clear. Excess goes into the owners pocket, or gets reinvested into the company's growth. The second the owner's profit margin becomes "not worth it" for the owner to keep those employees around, they will be in an unemployment line, and he will close the company, liquidate assets, and take his superior intellect elsewhere.

                4. Nobody “killed” the unions – they have priced themselves out of a competitive market. One of the primary reasons (other than technology advances) leading to the demise of unions is the uncheck flood of unskilled laborers from abroad, mostly from Mexico. It’s pretty rich that the left bemoans the depression of wages for unskilled labor but applauds bringing in a flood of foreign unskilled labor to compete with existing US workers.

                  1. The left wants to legalize those people and make it so they are competing for the same jobs everyone else does.

                    The Republicans want

                    a) To not legalize them but still use them as a pool of cheap labor, the more cruel their working conditions the better
                    b) To continue running on racism as a primary motivator of their base

Nobody gets more from the status quo than people who do those things.

                    1. The left wants to legalize those people and make it so they are competing for the same jobs everyone else does.

We are already competing. Internationally. "Legalizing" immigrants doesn't mean suddenly we are competing. Nope.

                      The Republicans want

                      a) To not legalize them but still use them as a pool of cheap labor, the more cruel their working conditions the better

Negative. People in general, all people, hire people that can deliver a cheap price, and deliver extremely competent service and products and extreme efficiency at that price with both parties being extremely satisfied. Extremely competent people are the people that shoulder the world and carry it. Everyone benefits from them. Your perception of nasty gritty exploitation is not anyone's desire. At all. That is just the perception of someone that is not competent but wants the success of those competent people.

                      b) To continue running on racism as a primary motivator of their base

lol - coming from a guy that can't stop looking at everything in terms of class and race. True socialist! Tony. Nobody cares about how much melanin you have. It's about your shitty behavior - that's why no one likes you.

Nobody gets more from the status quo than people who do those things.

That's not correct. Lots of people live and grow up through our method of capitalism, and lots of people have greatly succeeded, despite your assertions they could not.

                  2. Nobody “killed” the unions – they have priced themselves out of a competitive market.

                    Exactly!

Yes, I truly am this stupid
                  /s/ Tony’

            4. You’re right, it won’t cause inflation. What it will do is render a minority of Americans permanently unemployable in the legal economy. You may not like your burgers being make by poor people, and you’d prefer they starve to death in the street so your burger can be made by a robot, but the rest of us actually care for our fellow humans.

              1. I think it will cause some inflation, but you make a good point about rendering some people unemployable. We’ve seen various states and a couple of cities implement higher minimum wages, on their way to $15 an hour – and I think that’s the best way to see how it plays out. The costs of living in Seattle and California are much, much higher than in Arkansas or Mississippi. $15 an hour in those low cost of living states may cause all sorts of problems. I live in Florida and much to my surprise, the ballot measure to move to $15 an hour minimum wage passed. Florida isn’t a high cost of living state like California and the service industries are a pretty big part of the state’s economy because of tourism and the seasonal influx of “snow birds” (winter residents). I have a client that operates several McDonald’s restaurants and all her new hires start at $2 more an hour than the federal minimum wage – she recognized that to get better workers – even for flipping burgers, she needed to pay better. She assured me that menu prices will have to go up. She’s also concerned about her more experienced employees now being paid $15 (or more) an hour – compared to the new hires at $9.50. The employees that worked hard and earned those raises to get to $15 or more an hour will surely not be happy if their wage differential compared to the new, inexperienced workers isn’t adjusted to maintain most of that differential. Amazon instituted a $15 minimum wage – and I suspect those workers work pretty damn hard for their wage. Walmart moved to a $12 minimum. I think these are examples of the market working. We don’t need the federal government waving its magic wand and forcing a $15 minimum for all employers in all states. It will hurt low skilled workers the most. Teenage employment has been dropping for many years – and it will get worse with a $15 minimum.

                1. The cost of living doesn’t directly impact wages. If land is expensive, people with low incomes choose to have more roommates, cut other expenses, etc. etc. What high cost of living does do is cause low income households to move away to cheaper areas. It is this force of low-skilled people fleeing the area which drives up low-skilled wages, making a high minimum wage fit the market. The decision by Seattle and California to not allow housing construction has been lessened by this movement of low skilled workers from those areas to the south where affordable living is available. This movement has driven wages down in the South, which struggles to provide jobs for not just the high-school dropouts their own schools produce, but also the high-school dropouts of the high cost coasts. Raising the minimum wage to $15 is going to throw everything out of whack, because without a job it doesn’t matter where you live, none of it is affordable.

              2. Tony is either that idiotic union worker who voted for this sham of a POTUS and then cant’ understand why he finds himself suddenly on the unemployment line, or he’s someone who has money to burn to the point that policy changes have little impact on him. My gut tells me he’s of the idiot class who doesn’t’ think beyond the nose on his face.

            5. Sooo…you hate young people without job experience, and poorly educated people, and of course, uneducated immigrants without special skills. Because they’re taking jobs where their labor is worth well under $15/hour. And they won’t get them at that rate.

But that’s okay because fuck those people, you prefer robots.

            1. I despise Newsom as much as anyone, but he has no right to take my wealth to atone for his sins.

In all seriousness, inflation is great for existing debtors, and there are few bigger debtors around than the United States Government. Just have to keep those interest rates low enough that we don’t divert the entire federal budget to debt service.

    Worth the 1.9 trillion Boehm.

      1. That is because the tone of Biden speech was so different. He talked to the American people not at them.

        1. Lol. No it wasn’t. He called all of trumps voters nazis and said the Capitol police only let things happen because they are racist.

          God damn you’re a fool.

          1. No, he did not. Biden has consistently said you guys are Americans and that we have to be good to each other.

That's right! I'm going to vote - in person - in four different states!

          1. Vote early, vote often.

      4. All Trump has been doing is sitting in the WH stewing about the fact that he lost the election. Has he mention anything else since November 3rd?

What would you like him to do????? As a libertarian, I would prefer the less they do the better. If he could repeal shit, and play golf for 4 years, that would have been ideal.

        1. M4e has nothing other than his/her stupidity to offer.
This lefty shit claims to be old enough to vote while posting comments worthy of a 15 year old.
Do we have a liar claiming to be older than is obvious, or an elderly ignoramus going on 15?
I can’t tell, but either way, the stream of shit from M4e is worthless.

  3. “The big unanswered question is how Biden plans to pay for it all.”

    With a check. Duh!

    1. And he wants me to write it.

    2. Fire up that trillion dollar coin making machine!

    3. He’ll borrow from China. When they demand the debt paid, Biden will deed them US land instead.

    4. Modern Monetary Theory will pay for it*

*as long as China continues to enable our dive to oblivion

  4. Eric Boehm is a coward.

    1. Boehm is a piece of shit hack who does propaganda for communists that are pervasive in the democrat party.

  5. We don’t need to end the pandemic. Instead old people should say, “Don’t worry about us. We had a good life. We don’t want to destroy yours. Get back to work and school and live your life. We’ll be fine.”

And then line up for the vaccine so they can get immunity and reduce hospitalizations.

In fact the only senior brave enough to fight was Trump: “The country was never meant to be shut down.”

And yes old people said this quietly to each other. But they didn’t say it publicly, or when it mattered. Or they refused to wear a mask, which they claim is equivalent. But that’s really just cowardice. Courage would be to wear a mask with the message, “LIVE YOUR LIFE”. Then people would know where they stand.

Anyway I blame old people for this mess. But most of them just think, “Gimme my social security and medicare and you all can go f- yourselves.”

    1. So you’re advocating for death panels? Amazing how quick ignorance is shown here.

      1. That would be Cuomo and his million dollar fines for the wrong people getting vaccinated.

        1. Naah. Cuomo didn’t bother with panels; he did it through imperial decree.
Lefty shit above should be thrilled.

        2. That would be Cuomo sending COVID patients *into* nursing homes.

      2. So you’re advocating for death panels? Amazing how quick ignorance is shown here.

Looks like you don't know what a death panel is. Maybe go look it up.

      3. The Biden administration is pro death panel. Through his healthcare advisor. Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel. The inventor of ‘The Complete Lives System’.

    2. I’m one of those old people. I’ve had a good life, overall, and mean to continue having it for some time to come. But don’t worry about me. I recognize the risk, and for most it is not very large in absolute terms; for me, based partly on moderately good lifestyle choices, partly on luck (good choice of parents, reasonable intelligence, good education, and a habit of straightforward rational thinking) it actually is quite low. I am reasonably capable of taking care of myself and helping those around me do likewise. Based on numerous conversations here and there (often masked and at interperson distances of a couple meters or more), I conclude that there are a good many of us similarly situated.

We old people (some old politicians and public policy managers excluded) are not responsible for the mess, but as always is the case, we are responsible for doing what we can ethically and within the law and customs.

The vaccine, in technological terms, is little short of a miracle, bringing together solutions in waiting and almost ready for scale up and deployment and a certain amount of corporate initiative. At present rates, given sufficient supply, there is no reason 100 million Americans cannot be vaccinated well before Biden’s 100 days; politicians always find it agreeable to promise things that will happen anyway if nothing gets in the way. His problem will be to ensure that the eager beavers in the wings don’t fix things that don’t need it and screw things up.

That said, I, along with a great many similarly situated old people don’t truly need to get vaccinated tomorrow. We can wait behind others needed to treat the ill and restart the sectors of the economy that have been mercilessly halted, and, indeed, the other old people who are less fortunate and due to the prior history of the epidemic are a sadly reduced population.

And if, despite our sensible precautions, we catch it, life hasn’t been all that bad and maybe we’ll make it through anyhow.

    3. My 84-year old mother-in-law, who lives with us, said pretty much exactly that right from the start. “I’m going to die sometime from something. If it’s COVID, it’s COVID.”

  6. reason koch libertarians already rolling over to show their belly to Biteme.

  7. Only $1.9 trillion?

Trump blew through twice that amount. Proves Democrats are pussies!

    1. God damn pedo, even after the senate overrode the veto of NDAA you still don’t understand how budgets work.

      1. Trump wanted a bigger handout than Pelosi wanted, you GOP butt kisser.

        1. Trump wanted the 2k as a replacement for other cost removal dummy. Like the 350 billion in bailouts. Nice lie again.

          1. “…Nice lie again.”

It’s not a “lie”; you grant turd more mental abilities than he has:
            Ken Shultz
            January 10 at 11.14AM
“…We often think Tony, Shrike, and ChemJeff are being dishonest–especially when they don’t seem to learn anything from having their arguments shredded and smeared in their faces everyday for years. But the fact that they don’t seem to learn anything–knowledge wise or in terms of critical thinking–may be consistent with the hypothesis that they’re just not that bright. And we shouldn’t necessarily assume that Binion, Boehm, or Britschgi are fundamentally different from them.
Maybe the reason they try to make us feel is because they’re incapable of making us think. It is beyond their capabilities…”
It’s not that turd is lying (although he certainly is), it’s that he hasn’t the mental abilities to realize he is.

            1. They don’t have souls either. Which explains why they’re ok with being flat out baby murderers.

        2. Keep sending millions upon millions of dollars to other countries for "gender studies." When you have reconciled that, come back to us about "handouts."

  8. We need to unite as Americans. Lol, I know but I’m serious. I have so much less hate in my heart for you guys right now. It feels like Christmas morning.

    1. Ahhh. The lies of the left. Worked out well for WK too.

      1. What happened to WK?

    2. There wont be any uniting. Democrats started civil war 2.0 and will lose just like the democrats lost civil war 1.0

      1. Like we’re going to forget the last four years and that crooked election.

        Soup’s on!

    3. “We need to unite as Americans. Lol, I know but I’m serious. I have so much less hate in my heart for you guys right now. It feels like Christmas morning.”

Yeah, Santa Claus gave you the guns to steal what you want from productive people!
We should offer this steaming pile of lefty shit some slack; his third try at the 6th grade and he still believes in Santa Claus.

    4. It feels like Christmas morning.
Too bad you will end up with a lump of coal.

    5. We need to unite as Americans. Lol, I know but I’m serious. I have so much less hate in my heart for you guys right now. It feels like Christmas morning.

The only uniting we will be doing, is a right-wing celebration, get together, BBQ with your head on a pig pole in the center, for entertainment purposes.

    6. And Santa Claus is passing out free shit for all!

      Hail Santa! Hail the Empire!

  9. 170 billion for schools. Do they actually have to open the schools or is this a zoom subsidy?

    1. It’s probably to help lay the teachers while they completely close the schools. As this is what teachers unions are pushing for.

    2. Do they have to open the schools? Absolutely. I have grandchildren (5 and 8) who are, for now, being home schooled. Even with a good and experienced teacher, a capable aide, and a student to faculty ratio under 1.5:1 are being shortchanged socially and will continue to be as long as schools are closed and normal student social activities are severely restricted. I fear that if this goes on much longer it will cause long term effects that cannot be estimated accurately but are likely to be quite negative.

  10. “…On the brighter side, Biden wants 100 million vaccinations in 100 days and will push for immediate school reopenings…”

Hey, Biden may be a demented piece of lefty shit willing to dismantle the Constitution and eat your lunch, but if he gets the trains to run on time…

    1. He’s getting a lot of help in NY. They went through a bunch of vaccine doses. By throwing them away.

  11. Why do we need federal money to reopen state schools?

Why is Biden being cheered for ignoring the FDA instructions on vaccination?

What role does the federal government play in sticking needles in arms? Is he going to arrest Cuomo?

    1. “Why do we need federal money to reopen state schools?
Why is Biden being cheered for ignoring the FDA instructions on vaccination?
What role does the federal government play in sticking needles in arms? Is he going to arrest Cuomo?”

      See M4e above: Trump.
Besides which, droolin’ Joe didn’t win by much, so he’s hoping to buy some additional votes here.

    2. Democrats Gotta pay the bribes for stealing an election.

Federal bureaucrats will get a raise.
State election workers will get money.
      ….

  12. More vaccinations will be good, but it’s only the next admin partially fixing one of the last admin’s blunder.

More stimulus is a too predictable doubling down on another.

    1. “…but it’s only the next admin partially fixing one of the last admin’s blunder.”

Lefty shit left off cite; no surprise.
What, specifically, was the blunder, lefty shit?

    2. We need to make up for the lockdowns/reduced economic activity and get the ball rolling again.

      1. By handing out taxpayer money to parasites like you?
        Fuck off and die.

        1. I pity you bro. So much hate over a tax rate. My God is there even much of difference between Republicans and Democrats?

          1. You want what others have earned. You deserve nothing but hate.

            1. Peace be upon you.

              1. Stick it up your ass and spin, parasite.

              2. If you want peace, leave America forever and take the rest of the progressives with you.

          2. “…So much hate over a tax rate…”

So much stupidity; can’t spell “theft”.

          3. Is there much difference? No. To be fair, The GOP is heavier on stupidity while the Democrats are more evil. But there is quite a bit of overlap on the Venn diagram of the Uniparty of Government.

And certain morons see nothing wrong with that.

            Unity through Depravity!

        2. Go take your Droxy and go to bed, Sevo. Like Trump told you to do.

          1. Go fuck your daddy, turd.

          2. Why don’t you go attend to that 9 year old boy you keep drugged and hog tied?

            Fucking child rapist cunt.

      2. I’m sure Biden bringing back all the regulations Teump eliminated and rolling back tax reform will help. Less disposable income and more commerce strangling regulations really help the economy.

    3. Yes. It was trump causing NY and California to habd put only 30% of vaccines they were delivered so far. Lol.

      1. Cuomo is one of the stupidest people alive. Dumb fucking guido prog that he is.

    4. More stimulus is a too predictable doubling down on another.

I would like the gov to stimulate me less. No wonder the left wanted biden so much. It was for stimulation purposes. And probably a little hair sniffing with some hairy leg rub downs.

      1. I would like Ivanka to come and personally stimulate me. She can bring Hope Hicks with her.

      2. Who are you who would forgo the courtesy of a reach-around? Do you also refuse the lube and the ball gag? Why do you hate freedom?!!

    5. So we’re currently vaccinating a million people per day, and you’re cheering Biden for promising 100 million doses in 100 days?

I’m convinced people with your math skills advise the Dems on economics all the tine.

  13. Wrong within normal parameters.

  14. Sigh, he could have just passed the stimulus checks (a necessary evil) and be done with it. Instead he had to impose a 15 dollar national minimum wage.

People are already used to ordering things online. It’s about to become second nature. Now every fast food joint in some states will have kiosks or become ghost kitchens. Servers who made money in tips will lose even more jobs.

The best argument for Trump is that he would have at least vetoed the left’s worst agendas in a pandemic. Now that firewall is gone. In a pandemic, ruinous policies would bear bad fruit WAY faster than in normal times.

Everyone sort of hyperventilates when the other side wins election. It’s inevitable. But this time shit is about to get real.

    1. I think this is a big blue fuck you to the poor rural red states and counties.

      1. Name a single time raising the minimum wage has ever hurt anyone anywhere. Go ahead. It’s been higher than $15 before adjusted for inflation. Rural shitholes remain rural shitholes, but at some point they have to take responsibility for that instead of demanding the right to race-to-the-bottom wages.

If they wanted cheap labor they shouldn’t have been so fucking racist and kicked all the brown people out.

In fact, they should see how much prosperity they get by simply not being so fucking racist.

        1. Tony

“Name a single time raising the minimum wage has ever hurt anyone anywhere. Go ahead.”

Gee, as a self-identified sub-sentient ‘human’, you make it all to o easy, shit stain:
“Minimum-wage hikes do close restaurants. Just not the ones you care about.”
          https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/04/24/minimum-wage-hikes-do-close-restaurants-just-not-the-ones-you-care-about/

Yep, the high-end restaurants you like aren’t harmed at all; the mom-and-pops? Well, lefty shits like you could care less.

          1. Think of all the down-home country cooking we could experience if we brought slavery back.

            1. Think of all the shit-stain assumes to be worthless.
They no better, shit-stain; it’s YOU who is worthless. In fact, you are worth that much; you and your parasitic brethren are a a drain on the welfare of humanity, and a pimple on the ass of same.
And I notice when called on your bullshit claim, you changed the subject.
Ken got your number, lefty pile of shit.

            2. To be fair, watching a Hispanic overseer whip a white faggot into ribbons would be pretty amusing.

              1. Oh I’m sure it will work out the way it usually does. It’s just that we sunburn so easily. Useless in the field.

                1. Sunburn isn’t the problem, it’s those soy-laden muscles.

                  1. And the drooling.

                    1. Out of both ends in his case.

        2. Fuck off, Tony.

        3. Name a single time raising the minimum wage has ever hurt anyone anywhere. Go ahead.

          1) There were jobs at the university in the computer labs for students. They paid very little - $5.15/hour. But the work was really, really easy. All they had to do, was help students to log in, reset passwords, that sort, and keep the printer paper full. 90% of the time, these students working there did schoolwork and got paid for it. The university, later eliminated that job entirely, and hired one or two guys, paid big $$$ to watch all the labs and monitor them remotely (full time job). So a shit ton of jobs were lost.

          2) Why $15? Not not $40? Why not $60? Why stop at 15? You tell me.

          3) Whenever there is a minimum wage raise, there is instant inflation. The consequence of minimum wage raises are instant inflation hikes. When a guy at a fast food place is paid $7.00/hr to flip burgers, then suddenly is raised to $15/hr, the fast food restaurant is NOT going to absorb the loss. They will pass the expensive onto the consumer. As a result, the price of those burgers will increase. And this will occur with all industries. The cost of a loaf of bread will increase. The cost of a gallon of milk will increase. Everything will immediately increase. And who does that hurt? It hurts people that have assets stored in the USD in bank accounts or bed mattresses. And I would recommend those people immediately liquidate the USD to precious metals or other tangible assets before the $15 hike comes into being. It also hurts the minimum wage people. Because they didn't really see a increase in wages, because everything else increased in cost that offset that increase in wage.

It’s been higher than $15 before adjusted for inflation.

lol. Please take an economics course for our sakes Tony.

Rural shitholes remain rural shitholes, but at some point they have to take responsibility for that instead of demanding the right to race-to-the-bottom wages.

"Rural shitholes," as you call them, are responsibility taking people. They don't ask for help, and they work hard and live a typically principled life. A "rural shithole" man, is twice the man, you will ever be.

If they wanted cheap labor they shouldn’t have been so fucking racist and kicked all the brown people out.

??? In the south, in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Georgia, etc., the rural people ARE black/brown people. If you think brown people can only live in cities, you are likely a racist person.

In fact, they should see how much prosperity they get by simply not being so fucking racist.

          Unsubstantiated assertion. Completely, substanceless.

          1. Thank you, but Tony will change the subject:

          2. 1. There’s a place for a subminimum wage, sure. Babysitters, whatever. I don’t know why the entire economy has to hinge on those kinds of jobs. Just make the exceptions and move on.

            2. This is a slippery slope or reductio ad absurdum or whatever. For the same reason you don’t tolerate infinite freedom. There are limits to everything, even the ability of quantum mechanics to describe nature. I’m not an economist, so that’s why I’d ask an economist instead of a TV shock jock.

            3. The fast food place will absorb the higher cost of labor if it wants to keep doing business at the same pace. I guess the ethical case says it is perfectly welcome to go out of business if it can’t meet the minimum expectations of its community’s labor standards. In macroeconomic terms, it means that the employees who work there can afford fourteen burgers a week instead of seven. Sounds like a win-win. And that’s the picture the data paint of the last century, whether you like it or not.

So rural people are more personally responsible than other people. I agree it takes some real get-up-and-go to arrange for a permanent suckle on the public teat. This sentiment has nothing to do with how federal dollars are actually spent and more to do with a myth people tell themselves about themselves. It’s okay, you can stay away from the cultural centers where all the economic churn actually happens. More for me.

            1. 1. There’s a place for a subminimum wage, sure. Babysitters, whatever. I don’t know why the entire economy has to hinge on those kinds of jobs. Just make the exceptions and move on.

Which is why the market should handle it. You don't need the government to step in and demand money from someone on your behalf.

Right. It is absurd. Which is why you should let the market handle it. $15 is arbitrary and capricious nonsense. I shouldn't have to pay a guy $15/hr to put letters in envelopes. With enough training, I could probably train a monkey to do it and pay him one banana at the end of the day. If you want a booming economy, you let the free market handle it. If you want to feel good about being a marxist equality freak, then pass minimum wage laws.

              3. The fast food place will absorb the higher cost of labor if it wants to keep doing business at the same pace.

Again. They will pass on the expense to the consumer. Their profit margins will remain the same. And all the other businesses out there will do the same. Their pace will remain the same after stabilization. They will be earning about the same, because the cost of everything else will increase. And the dollar will reduce in value. Tony - The government can't "create" value by signing a piece of paper in congress that says an unskilled laborer's value is suddenly worth more. The market will correct for it. A guy flipping a burger is worth one guy flipping a burger no matter what the legislation says. The idea that he is getting more is an illusion. The cost of everything else will increase to make up for his artificial shift in value created by the government.

So that is NOT what the data points to in the last century. The short term - is loss of jobs. The long term - is a market correction, where everyone's wages everywhere increases and everyone's costs everywhere increases as the market "corrects" for the artificial increase in wage by the government. Government cannot "create" value out of people flipping burgers by decree. The market - WILL correct for it. When you try to increase their wage, the market responds by lowering the value of the dollar to match their “worth.”

So rural people are more personally responsible than other people. I agree it takes some real get-up-and-go to arrange for a permanent suckle on the public teat.

I agree northern rural democrats have this problem. No argument there. They think they are entitled to grow corn, regardless of how much we don't want to buy it.

This sentiment has nothing to do with how federal dollars are actually spent…

I agree. We are talking about minimum wage. Stay on topic Tony.

…and more to do with a myth people tell themselves about themselves. It’s okay, you can stay away from the cultural centers where all the economic churn actually happens. More for me.

What are you talking about? I live in the city. They are not really "cultural" centers. Instead, they are a chaotic mess of a mixing pot, are always high rate of crime compared to rural areas, and are typically ran into the ground by democrats who do whatever it takes for votes. That includes - giving shit away for free (I pay for it). Making promises they can't keep. Kleptocracy. Corruption. And appeasing stupid people (who vote) who can't take care of themselves who tend to flock to the cities.

              1. A $15 minimum wage won’t just be felt by consumers, but by other employees.

Someone making $20/hr, already, doesn’t get a corresponding bump when the minimum goes to $15. Hell, they may get a salary cut. Add the inflationary potential, and that employee just got double-fucked.

Then you’ve got the “who actually makes minimum wage, anyhow” angle. It’s disproportionately entry-level jobs. The goal is not to have one—it’s to get job experience, and parlay it into something better.

As many affordable housing crusaders will tell you, getting on the “property ladder” is imperative. Well, if that is true, isn’t it also imperative to get on the “job ladder”? Reducing/eliminating the first rung of that ladder via an arbitrary minimum wage does nothing but prevent the most downtrodden from ever getting on the ladder in the first place.

Oh. Wait. That would create even more dependence on government handouts. I just convinced strengthened Democratic support.

                1. You pay the people on the lowest rung more, they can buy more shit from the people in the middle rungs.

The people in the upper rungs, meanwhile, will probably do OK considering they don’t need to actually produce anything useful for society to remain extremely rich. You can only hire so many yacht repairmen.

                  1. “”they can buy more shit from the people in the middle rungs.””

                    At a higher price.

When your payroll increase, you have to increase revenue, or reduce expenditures. Higher prices or less employees.

                    1. They can’t raise prices if the market won’t support that.

It’s supply and demand one day with you people, boss’s random speculation the next.

Maybe they’ll just have to stick less money in their yacht fund.

                    2. “They can’t raise prices if the market won’t support that.”

                      True.
“They” can simply go out of business if they can’t make a profit. Supply and demand applies everywhere and always. And those of us capable of “thinking” know that.
You should seek education, you steaming pile of left shit.

                    3. Then they either go out of business or don’t offer those goods or services.

You really haven’t a fucking clue what you’re talking about. You clearly have never had to run a business or make a payroll in your life. Yet you feel qualified to lecture people here who have done those things.

Which is the epitome of progressivism.

                    4. They can’t raise prices if the market won’t support that.

It’s supply and demand one day with you people, boss’s random speculation the next.

Maybe they’ll just have to stick less money in their yacht fund.

You're not entitled to their yacht fund Tony. Here is what you need to do. Find something you are good at. Specialize in it. Get amazingly competent at it. Extremely efficient at it, so you can offer something very complicated and difficult, at a low price. Then you'll start making big $$$, and can finally stop the envy, and most onto your own yacht fund.

                  2. As TrickyVic noted, not if it leads to higher prices (via inflation, a need to raise prices to sustain a profit margin, or a combination thereof).

It also ignores the other problem—an excessive minimum wage both (1) shrinks the bottom rung, and (2) raises it further off the floor.

If you can’t get on the employment ladder, you can’t move up the employment ladder.

In other words, raising the bottom rung may benefit some of those currently on it (and that’s questionable, given that some will get thrown off the ladder completely), but it doesn’t benefit those who won’t be able to reach it at all now.

                    1. Higher minimum wage tends to remove the bottom rung.

                    2. To Mark: I agree—maybe not completely, but it will shrink to such a degree that it will be unattainable to many.

                    3. I suspect that is one of those “feature-not-a-bug” things we hear about.
This will create more unemployed, potentially unemployable, lower class people. More people more dependent on the government…tell them “the country has failed you” and you’ll get an angry mob of idiots eager to vote for the Dems who promise to save them. Despite having harmed them by asking Tony what policies to implement.

                  3. “You pay the people on the lowest rung more, they can buy more shit from the people in the middle rungs…”

‘Cause to the Tony-imbeciles of this world that money came from other than the customers now paying more for the products, so those people on the bottom rung can’t afford any more than they did before.
What most of us consider actual “thought” is not within Tony’s abilities.

                  4. You pay the people on the lowest rung more, they can buy more shit from the people in the middle rungs.

Not if they lost their job, and not if the price of everything just went up.

The people in the upper rungs, meanwhile, will probably do OK considering they don’t need to actually produce anything useful for society to remain extremely rich. You can only hire so many yacht repairmen.

This is not reality. This is your envious "I'm a non-successful 'loser' and victim of this game" perception. The people in the top don't sit around on their yacht doing nothing. Also not reality. CEO's, and giant company owners work 80 to 100 hours a week, sometimes more. It's hilarious that you think they do nothing and don't produce anything useful. I would recommend you watch some Jordan Peterson. I think he would help you.

            2. Tony you seem to be missing the train of thought here. Why stop at $15 minimum wage why don’t we also start mandating everything? You’re a troll that’s good at using big words and snippy responses. Congrats, they’re only good in the passion you believe in. Have you looked up the studies on cramped community living? You’re posts might reflect that insanity that comes from it.

          3. Tony is very racist, and very stupid.

            1. And he isn’t JUST “not an economist”, he’s like an “anti-economist”!

But his economic ideas, like the Legos a four-year-old shows you, “all fit together!”. And he’s just as proud.

        4. Minimum wage stopped me from hiring somebody to clean the store. That job has a specific value, and if it costs to much to get somebody else to do it, I stay after closing and do it myself.

Nobody is surprised you don’t understand how economics works.

    2. Next year’s most popular bumper sticker: “Don’t blame me, I voted for Trump!”

    3. And on top of all that, Biden called for raising the national minimum wage to $15 an hour.

“No, we’re not going to turn the rest of the country into California” – Democrats

    4. If the Biden administration does not screw things up with the recently announced federal intervention (national guard and the like); if the state and local authorities get their acts together; and if the various vaccine producers can keep up production, there is no good reason that the country cannot reach herd immunity by the end of July or August (a total of around 250 million people vaccinated).

Unfortunately, there is no good reason to think that the programs and expenditures promised will not be disruptive and preempt state and local efforts that have accelerated the vaccination rate to over a million a day. Should they do so, it certainly will push out the herd immunity date to well beyond August, quite possibly until 2022. The consequences, for what passes for a hospital system, the economy, and the people will not be good. And the politicians who laid claim to credit in the beginning will, likely enough, be assigned blame for the outcome.

The 2022 elections might be quite interesting.

      1. Never underestimate their ability to twist misinformation, illogic and pandering into a balloon animal that looks like a Republican, point at it and say “It’s all THEIR fault!!” It’s the one area where they show any sign of creativity.

“Our country has been beset by a pandemic, and now an ongoing insurrection based on denying the results of a legal and fair election, and these Very Bad Things, totally Not Our Fault, have slowed the positive effects of our Perfectly Good Policies.”

And the millions, the CNN-watching herd, will nod and “Baaa” and “vote blue, no matter who”.

    5. That’s right.

  15. Tax and spend! Tax and spend! Tax and spend!

Here’s hoping the ole moderate Joe shows up.

I know they don’t want to hear this, but maybe if the GOP hadn’t gone full authoritarian crazy with Trump they’d maybe be in better position to affect policy.

Many people were voting against Trump and his GOP supporters. I don’t think the Dems will realize this, but hopefully the GOP will.

    1. Lame, even for a parody account.

    2. Joe knows he is not getting most of the shit on that list. He had to throw the far left a few of their trinkets ($15/hr).

      1. Make it $100 an hour minimum. If you make less you might vote republican.

      2. Lol. God damn kid touched. When have you ever been right?

      3. turd doesn’t “know” much of anything.
        Fuck off and die.

    3. “This is not political. We don’t need this for politics. Georgia proved that.”

–Steny Hoyer in an excellent speech during the impeachment

Democrats have learned not just from the last four years but the eight before that. Biden gets to not make the mistakes Obama made, like assuming he could charm Republicans into having souls.

      1. Did you have anything to suggest other than you’re drunk again?

      2. The use of a dash then name then opinion is really weird looking.

    4. Here’s hoping the ole moderate Joe shows up.

LOL. Joe is a swamp rat. The last time he had a real job, and wasn't living off the government teat arranging corrupt back room deals, was 50 fucking years ago. Moderate Joe? There are no "moderate" democrats. Their desire is to implement "soft" communism. Instead of the government directly controlling the means of production, the government will directly control the means of money. They will take all the money, and redistribute it as they see fit, (in effect - controlling the means of production). Democrats are the party of "progress." And today, to the left, marxism is progress. The republicans, polluted with leftist ideology as it is, are the moderates. And every year, they become more polluted with leftist ideology. Yet the ignorant libertarileftists here, blame republicans for government power grabs. The democrats are the party of power grabs, period. The republican's are just conservatives, being dragged over time, in the direction of the left, by the progressives, mostly because they are compromising and milksop non-fighters.

I know they don’t want to hear this, but maybe if the GOP hadn’t gone full authoritarian crazy with Trump they’d maybe be in better position to affect policy.

Trump was the opposite of authoritarian. Look at his policy, not his twitter account. He was the opposite of authoritarian. Tax cuts, anti-war. No new legislated gun control. If anything, he was best described as an angry libertarian.

Many people were voting against Trump and his GOP supporters. I don’t think the Dems will realize this, but hopefully the GOP will.

I agree with this. Trump was aggressive and never conceded anything. He was a cultural warrior. And if I was a betting man, I would bet that the future GOP candidates will be more similar to Trump, than to prior GOP candidates. And I would also bet on civil war 2.0 and secession. Which is fine. And desirable. The sooner we cut loose from the marxists, the better.

      1. I hear ya.

    5. “maybe if the GOP hadn’t gone full authoritarian crazy with Trump.”

The Left is living a delusion. Trump is not authoritarian, the Democrats are. Trump wanted lockdowns lifted, Dems made them longer and worse. What is more authoritarian than shutting down the economy and imposing curfews on grown adults you leftist moron. Trump eliminated regulations. Dems add them. Trump started NO wars. Dems will start them again. Trump stood up to Communist China (actual authoritarians), Biden kisses their ass and sells us out to them.

Now, the Democratic Party has merged with corporations. Does anyone else notice how in the last few years all the massive companies are super political and “woke.” And they all support the Democrat Party. They write the laws Congress passes without reading. Corporatism and fascism are one and the same. Corporate media and the tech monopolies push radical Dem talking points as real news. All corporate news is propaganda now. Democrats (through their corporate partners) are banning people on social media, censoring, using their monopolies on the market to shut down platforms (Parler) to kill their competition and free speech simultaneously. They are indoctrinating Americans to be afraid to speak out by creating a cancel-culture of fear.

In 2020, I thought these corporations were marxist when they donated $1billion usd to marxist organizations like BLM and bailed out “insurrectionist” rioters (that’s the term for protesters now right?). No no no. You idiot lefties with your hammer and sickle flags marching and burning, they played you. They’re not bringing Marxism, they’re bringing fascism. And it’s already here. Consider, who is obsessed with race and has been creating social regimentation of society, the Democrats. Who else is obsessed with race? Fascists. In his speech Biden declared a racial caste system to distribute federal pandemic aid to businesses. That’s called racism boot lickers. These lefties don’t even realize what they are now. The anti-trumpers were never “the resistance.” They were the tools of a new corporate fascist oligarchy.

      1. This is excellent, and should be repeated in other threads so more eyeballs can see it.

      2. But… Don’t you want to BE SAFE?

        Why do you hate SAFETY?!!

    6. Time to turn this country over to the Mormons!

      LDS forever!

      1. I (a “gentile”) have lived among the Mormons for the best part of a decade now and found them to be generally reasonable, accommodating to others with different (or no) religious beliefs, friendly (although reserved and a bit standoffish to “others”). I can think of many groups I would less like as governors.

  16. In the coming days, Biden intends to outline his plans for a national vaccination effort, including an ambitious goal to deliver 100 million vaccinations during the new administration’s first 100 days.

Shit, I could come up with a goal of delivering a billion vaccinations in 10 days. You should have made me President.

    1. Except this is probably achievable.

      1. “Except this is probably achievable.”

So long as droolin’ Joe can cook the books, it is.

        1. No, we’re already up to a million a day, sooo…

100 million in a hundred days? Even Tony can do that math.

Amazing job, Joe! Hey! Does he get a Nobel Prize for that?

    2. In the coming days, Biden intends to outline his plans for a national vaccination effort, including an ambitious goal to deliver 100 million vaccinations during the new administration’s first 100 days.

More like Trump's plan for a national vaccination effort, for a vaccine, pushed by Trump, through operation warp-speed, that subsidized private industry through essentially insurance, to develop a vaccine as fast as possible. Which Biden will take credit for. No surprise for a giant human tick, that has been sucking for 50 fucking years in government. The last time Biden had a real job is 50 fucking years ago. He has forgotten how regular people even live and survive, with those memories replaced with his skills of lying, extorting, corrupting, and political correctness bullshit.

    3. The current US vaccination rate (courtesy of Bloomberg News) is about 1.1 million doses daily.

  17. So funny that the commies at unreason support the democrats after they openly used election fraud to claim victory in election 2020.

The commies are not even trying hide their contempt for constitutional law and election integrity.

  18. Uniting America in hyperinflation.

    1. They’ll get their income equality one way or another!

    2. Uniting America Zimbabwe style.

    3. Uniting America in hyperinflation.

^ This one gets it. Hyperinflation is what it will be. Buy tangible assets now, before the minimum wage increase. Or your cash will be greatly devalued.

  19. “$15 Federal Minimum Wage”

I’ve always said I’ll oppose any Biden policy that would be harmful to Reason.com benefactor Charles Koch’s net worth. And a minimum wage increase certainly fits that category. In fact any competent Koch-funded economist will tell you the ideal minimum wage is $0.00 / hour.

    #AbolishTheMinimumWage

    1. A $0 minimum is still a minimum. You shouldn’t be denied by law from paying for the right to work.

      1. You’re obviously trying to be facetious—but this is absolutely true.

After my first year of law school, I paid to ride the commuter bus into the city each day, to work for free—just to get some experience to set me up for a better position down the road. It worked!

      2. A $15 minimum wage will make monocle polishing robots economically viable, and thousands of orphans will be out of a job!

        Why do you hate ORPHANS?!!

    2. OpenBordersLiberal-tarian

You are not a libertarian. Seriously. Not at all. If you think the government should get involved between two people working out a deal, you are not a libertarian. Imagine you posted a item for sale on craigslist. A guy showed up to buy it, and started negotiating. Then all of a sudden, a government agent showed up and informed you that your price was too high, you were profiteering, and you needed to lower it. This is what you are advocating for right now.

You are NOT a libertarian. You are a democrat.

      1. It’s a parody account, one-trick-pony, was amusing for a couple of weeks 3 or 4 years ago.
Unlike spaz, I don’t bother flagging the posts; they’re simple-minded and take zero time to tease out the failed ‘argument’.

  20. The states can’t handle the vaccinations they have already. Forcing them to take on more, if the manufactures can keep up, will only waste more vaccines and money. Just because the government says jump doesn’t mean we can.

    1. “The states can’t handle the vaccinations they have already. Forcing them to take on more, if the manufactures can keep up, will only waste more vaccines and money. Just because the government says jump doesn’t mean we can.”

But if TDS-addled lefty shit can claim TRUMP, that’s all that matters to TDS-addled lefty shits

  21. SleepyJoe gonna solve all of our problems!

    1. I’ll lead an an effective strategy to mobilize trueinterdnationfinildepressure!

  22. Why is what’s her face wearing a mask? SleepyJoe got vaccinated.

  23. I think the Republican media machine is capable of talking a third of this country into believing covid and Trump never even happened. I give them to 2022.

Of course the people joining their ranks are incredibly ridiculous, and I don’t see how they strategize their way out of a Wal-Mart let alone coordinate a message to overcome their support of sedition.

No economic plan Republicans have implemented since Reagan rode in on his stupid horse has done any good for this country. Not once. Just precipitated massive recessions and wealth grabs.

    Oh wait.

    1. You are so smart, no wonder everyone loves you so much.

      1. Frankly, it’s uncanny.

        1. Frankly, you’re full of shit.

    2. I think the Republican media machine is capable of talking a third of this country into believing covid and Trump never even happened. I give them to 2022.

      Oh wait.

More the reason we should have secession 2.0! Separate the states. Break the union. Reorganize into new unions of our liking. Democrats in my seceded state, and move to yours. Republicans in your state can move to mine. The sooner we do this the better for both of us!!!

      1. Nah, the United States is touchy about that subject and has a real struggle with not turning seditionists into Swiss cheese.

How about you people start reading about science and truth instead of “science” and “truth,” and we’ll meet back here after you’re up to speed. Then we can have all the political differences any klatch of educated people can handle.

        1. Nah, the United States is touchy about that subject and has a real struggle with not turning seditionists into Swiss cheese.

Let's try it and see what happens? What's wrong? Can't live without subjugating others? Don't know how to leave people alone? Want to run their lives and chain them to your wagon so they can pull it for you? Learn not to be a tyrant, and just let them go.

Also, that was 1860s. Conditions were different. Motives were different. Factions were different. The north was industry. The south was farming. Now the north is commercial, filled with trannies and pajama boy avocado toast men. And the south is factories and machinery. It might not go the way you'd expect.

How about you people start reading about science and truth instead of “science” and “truth,” and we’ll meet back here after you’re up to speed. Then we can have all the political differences any klatch of educated people can handle.

How about not. How about we pass on the "klatch," and the avocado toast and just fast forward to secession 2.0. After all, you guys would just "identify" as real science - that's about the scientific level democrats have achieved. Then you would assign some pronouns for it. These days dems value political correctness above science anyways. So - hard pass.

          1. The factions and motives are not that different. Realize that you’re proposing exactly a whites-only society. That’s what the demographics show when it comes to political allegiances.

As tempting as it is to rid myself of all but the most pristine specimens of soyboys and genderfluid goths, it’s impractical to build walls around all the cities where the Democrats live, and I don’t think they want to give any of them up to people who won’t use them anyway.

In all honesty it is hilarious to me that the cutting edge of identity politics occupies so much of your thoughts. I swear you people almost started a civil war because you can’t handle a new pronoun or two, as if you find yourselves in conversation with trans people so frequently that it actually is a hardship.

Cultural change is uncomfortable for eighty percent of the population. Then sixty. Then fifty. And before you know it, your favorite neighbor has an unpronounceable name and their pronouns are they/them. And not a dime changed hands this whole way.

So maybe it turned out the whole time you were simply bitching about nothing because you’re in the weak half of the population waiting for your turn.

            1. What about just skipping your step and becoming Borg?

              1. It’s coming. Living in tiny flats, off of universal background income, consuming what we’re told to, and diverting our attention with subsidized drugs and mass entertainment.

Until the robots acquire enough sentience to replace us. Then we’ll be murdered.

            2. The factions and motives are not that different. Realize that you’re proposing exactly a whites-only society. That’s what the demographics show when it comes to political allegiances.

I'm not separating on the basis of demographics you racist. I am separating on the basis of culture. And the sooner the better. Because fighting for national/federal power in order for factions to preserve their culture will get very bloody quickly, and I would prefer not to be at your doorstep with "thirsty lucille."

As tempting as it is to rid myself of all but the most pristine specimens of soyboys and genderfluid goths, it’s impractical to build walls around all the cities where the Democrats live, and I don’t think they want to give any of them up to people who won’t use them anyway.

They will definitely sell their land and move. Likewise, conservatives in your union will sell their land and move to our union. Nobody wants to be dictated to, by hateful bigots.

In all honesty it is hilarious to me that the cutting edge of identity politics occupies so much of your thoughts. I swear you people almost started a civil war because you can’t handle a new pronoun or two, as if you find yourselves in conversation with trans people so frequently that it actually is a hardship.

You are right. It is a hardship. 78 gender pronouns. For their mental illness and delusion. I'll pass. You need a reality check on where your own side is going:

              https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3b/19/a7/3b19a746144a85adaf66faf7394d56c3.jpg</b

Cultural change is uncomfortable for eighty percent of the population. Then sixty. Then fifty.

Then don't complain about it when we move the culture into something you don't like.

And before you know it, your favorite neighbor has an unpronounceable name and their pronouns are they/them. And not a dime changed hands this whole way.

Gay people are gay, which is fine - I get it. They can go be off and be gay, what do I care. Trans people? Their problem is me. Their problem is everyone who isn't buying into their delusion. That is their problem, and thus they want to force it you on like tyrants. Mental illness tyrants at that. Pass Tony.

So maybe it turned out the whole time you were simply bitching about nothing because you’re in the weak half of the population waiting for your turn.

Zero surprise you would prefer colonialization and tyrannical subjugation of other cultures, rather than let them live on their own, separate. The left's hypocrisy has no bounds. Complain about Columbus in one breath, make attempts to subjugate conservatives in another.

    3. You lost me at “I”.

  24. “Biden’s $1.9 Trillion COVID Relief Package Includes More Stimulus Checks, State Government Bailout, $15 Federal Minimum Wage”

After lying about and demonizing Trump for the past four years, and campaigning for Biden and Harris in 2020, Boehm and others at unReason are now criticizing Biden for doing precisely what he said he’d do.

    Such hypocrisy and insincerity.

    1. There wasn’t that much criticism in the article sadly.

  25. OK, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Joe biden won’t be President for long.

The bad news is that Kamala Harris will have taken over after invoking the 25th amendment.

    1. Exchanging one moderate for another won’t be so bad.

What could it be about her that’s so threatening?

      What could it possibly be?

      1. Frankly, you’re full of shit.

      2. Kamala’s no moderate.

      3. Yeah. Super moderate.

        https://twitter.com/KamalaHarris/status/1322963321994289154?s=20

Read the communist manifesto. Compare to Harris's equity plan.
        #education

        1. I keep yelling at my TV, “stop saying equity!”

The Jordan Peterson goobers hate that word.

The CEOs aren’t too fond of it either, coincidentally.

          1. I keep yelling at my TV, “stop saying equity!”

Right. Well people that don't like communism happen to not like it either.

            1. They’re in luck, since there are no communists within armpit wafting distance of a legislative seat in this county. Communists don’t even vote for Democrats. They’re still mad about what was did wrong to Bernie.

              1. Tony might really have avoided reading or hearing anything about AOC; his stupidity is not an act, so perhaps he missed all that.

                1. He’s also overlooking the downside of having President that’s had Willie Brown’s cock in her mouth.

              2. They’re in luck, since there are no communists within armpit wafting distance of a legislative seat in this county. Communists don’t even vote for Democrats. They’re still mad about what was did wrong to Bernie.

Most democrats these days are communists. Including those in office. And you refuted nothing. Communists are advocates for equity. And the vice president calls herself a democrat, and then pushes a communist agenda:

      4. Posts like this let you know Tony is just trolling.

        1. I doubt it; it seems he’s stupid enough to believe what he posts and is hopeful that others are equally imbecilic.

  26. OT prediction:

In sharp contrast to fear mongering Democrat and FDA warnings, there will be no violence in DC or in state capitals during next week’s inauguration.

    1. I want to agree, but I still think they need a bit more blood to wave around in order to push their desired authoritarian policies through. We’ll see, I guess.

If there needs to be more blood, a symbolic target with little real power would be ideal for those purposes. IOW, if I were someone like Ocasio-Cortez, I’d wouldn’t be sleeping easy. Having some yahoo in a MAGA hat kill her messily on live television, (with whatever piece of equipment that’s next to be banned) would check off several boxes on the list of prerequisites for pushing Patriot Act 2.0. It also would remind other party firebrands to not think about biting the hand that feeds them.

  27. There wouldn’t be a bail out of the states if Trump had been reelected. Voting for Trump was a good idea for that reason alone.

  28. The mainstream narrative regarding the Capitol riot may need some revising.

A liberal activist from Utah was arrested on Thursday on federal charges that he took part in the riot at the Capitol last week.

John Sullivan, 26, founder of a protest group called Insurgence USA, was charged in a criminal complaint with one felony count of interfering with law enforcement in connection with a civil disorder, as well as misdemeanor charges of unlawful entry and disorderly conduct.

    . . . .

FBI Special Agent Matthew Foulger said in an affidavit supporting the criminal complaint that a series of statements Sullivan made on video encouraged the lawbreaking.

Foulger said that as the crowd rushed the Capitol building, Sullivan declared: “We accomplished this shit. We did this together. Fuck yeah! We are all a part of this history,” and “Let’s burn this shit down.”

The complaint alleges that as rioters sought to break the glass in a set of doors in the Capitol, Sullivan rushed forward and said he could help. “Hey guys, I have a knife. I have a knife. Let me up,” the activist allegedly said.”

–Politico, about half an hour ago.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/14/liberal-activist-charged-capitol-riot-459553

He may be the first left wing radical identified and charged with participating in (or leading) the riot, but who’s willing to bet that he’ll be the last? There’s probably a memo from the Biden transition team to the FBI telling them to stop looking for new cases to prosecute right about now.

    1. The kiddie diddler will say it’s a lie.

      1. Whatever turd claims is pretty much certain to be a lie.

      2. It’s been debunked. Isn’t that the correct term?

    2. And the dumbass was interviewed by Anderson Cooper, admitting he was in the capitol.

    3. The narrative has already been written and accepted by the masses that this was a coup by bitter Republican clingers who were completely peaceful until Trump incited them to riot in the most serious threat to our democracy since 1814. No new evidence will change that.

      1. I expect them to figure out eventually.

Unfortunately, eventually is way too late.

The shit Biden plans to do to us will mostly be done in his first 100 days. Three months from now, it’ll mostly be too late.

        1. That’s because he’ll be gone soonafter.

As you say, he doesn’t care about the future because he won’t be there.

      2. As I posted below, the bill to make DC a state has already been introduced in the House–with 205 sponsors.

I assumed they’d pack the Supreme Court before they packed the senate and the electoral college, but I guess I was wrong.

        1. you’d think being able to read would be a requirement for getting elected to Congress

          https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/06/21/opinion/constitution-says-no-dc-statehood/

          1. Constitution says a lot of things.

        2. “the bill to make DC a state has already been introduced in the House”

Wow, you’d think Reason might find this worthy of attention.

But instead we are going to get more names added to the Author’s Parade of Ritual Denunciation of Trump and Trump Supporters.

It would this place is nothing more than a loyalty demonstration. But they’ll probably still get shit from their masters for making it so obvious.

    4. And somehow this same guy also managed to make appearances on both CNN and Fox News describing “what he saw.”

That’s says he was also working with media handlers.

  30. Buy Bitcoin and Ethereum

    1. How about gold?

      1. Bitcoin is better than gold because it is easier to fractionalize and move. It also has a known fixed supply.

        1. Gold has a fixed supply too. They don’t make it anymore.

          1. No, but it is found often enough to make it nothing other than a commodity.

          2. Also, you can hold it in your hand. It’s isn’t some 1s and 0s off on some server somewhere. Also, it isn’t made of paper, where such thing’s value is only based off “faith.”

        2. Bitcoin has a known fixed supply. Crypto-currencies are in infinite supply. But yeah, if you’re a billionaire fleeing China Bitcoin is a lot less conspicuous than a suitcase full of gold coins.

          1. Bitcoin has a known fixed supply. Crypto-currencies are in infinite supply. But yeah, if you’re a billionaire fleeing China Bitcoin is a lot less conspicuous than a suitcase full of gold coins.

Bitcoin is no better than the dollar. It is not tangible. It is a "faith" based system. Gold is tangible. Has real value. Is real - you can hold it in your hand. The dollar is made of paper. Paper isn't worth anything. 1s and 0s saying it has value isn't worth anything. These have no inherent worth. Is bitcoin better than the USD? Probably. And certainly would be during a minimum wage hike. But tangible assets are better than that. Precious metals, Ammo, Guns, Tools, Land (in areas of low property tax), businesses, rental properties. Things of value that are inherent, that is real, and you can touch it. After the minimum wage hike, tangible assets will go up in price to reflect their actual worth. (In reality, they didn't go up in price, the value of the dollar fell).

            1. Crypto is as ‘in the cloud’ as anything.

And ‘in the cloud’ is equivalent to ‘someone else’s property.’

I’m more partial to silver as specie.

    2. And sell before the regulators get hold of it.

Nothing like some more economic crisis and free money to put that on hold for the time being.

    3. It’s worked out pretty well so far.

  31. “During this pandemic, millions of Americans, through no fault of their own, have lost the dignity of a job and a paycheck,” Biden said. “It’s tested us beyond measure.”

True, it’s the fault of Democratic governors who led the charge on shutdowns and set the precedent for how to fuck people out of their livelihoods.

“Oh, sorry we screwed you, here’s $2000. Now go consoooooooooooome, consoooooomer!”

  32. The House resolution to make DC a state has already been introduced–with 205 (two hundred and five) Democrat cosponsors.

“H.R.51 – To provide for the admission of the State of Washington, D.C. into the Union.”

    https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/51/cosponsors?

    1. Cede it back to Maryland, if you must, but DC makes no sense as a state in itself.

      1. They need more Senators from somewhere, and there aren’t a lot of options sans things like partitioning California or making Puerto Rico a state.

    2. I would like to see a comment from a Constitutional scholar about the relationship of this with Article I, Section VIII, Paragraph 17 (“To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District …”) and Article IV, Section III.

I suspect it could be done, but might be a bit more complicated than, for instance, admitting the Virgin Islands as a state.

    3. Marion Barry for Senate!

And since he’s dead, he can vote on any bill as many times as the Democrats need!

  33. Hey, steaming pile of lefty shit! Still waiting!’

  34. When you’re already (looks it up) 27.8 trillion dollars in debt, what’s another 1.9 trillion?

Maybe someone ought to point out that Congress is not sitting on any emergency fund worth trillions of dollars. They are borrowing 1.9 trillion more for us to pay back later. How does that help exactly?

    1. Buys votes; droolin’ Joe needs all the help he can find.

    2. They would trade all the value of the nation, and it's future, for votes. And they will. Watch. They will. And there is nothing that anyone here will do about it, while everyone here condemns "insurrection" at the capitol. It's simultaneously comical and grotesque.

      1. How dare they try to improve the country for votes. It’s not fair. Governing is about shitting on undesirables!

Agree with me or I’ll kill you!

        1. “”Agree with me or I’ll kill you!””

That’s called terroristic threatening. You should be charged accordingly.

    3. You have the money now, and unlike personal debts, this one can be passed down to the heirs for payment.

If he and AOC played 10 games of tic-tac-toe against each other, they might both lose every game.

  39. GOP Congresswoman: ‘I Will Be Filing Articles of Impeachment Against Joe Biden’ on January 21
Greene made the announcement on Newsmax TV Wednesday evening.
“We have to make sure that our leaders are held accountable. We cannot have a president of the United States that is willing to abuse the power of the office of the presidency and be easily bought off by foreign governments … Chinese energy companies, Ukrainian energy companies,” she told host Greg Kelly. “So on January 21, I will be filing articles of impeachment on Joe Biden.”

Republicans are going to fight the Democrats with there own tactics, obstructionism and attacks on the Democratic officials, that will slow down the Democrats agenda.

    1. LOL, Republican leadership will do no such thing. They will quietly stick their noses in the trough while outliers like her serve as a distraction.

  42. “On the brighter side, Biden wants 100 million vaccinations in 100 days and will push for immediate school reopenings.

Will Biden be in any way responsible for making 100 million doses of vaccine and distributing them? Does Biden have any constutional authority over whether local schools open or close?

    Words are wind.

  43. We saw something that we have not seen in 4 years, leadership. Joe Biden stood before the American people and outlined a plan to address the current problems. This why you have a leader, a President. The founders knew this and planned for it with an elected executive.

Is it perfect, no. Will it work, I don’t know. In some ways that is less important that the fact that it was put forward. It was a plan and it was an honest talk. Biden did not say it would be easy, did not try to bam-buzzle people. He stood up and talk to the American people.

That alone is a good change.

    1. Remember when you said you were moderate? Fucking hilarious man.

      1. Pretty scary when the moderates take over. Easy to put down Bernie or AOC, much harder for Biden, Harris, Romney, etc.

        1. Biden is a moderate? Relative to what?

          1. Well if you consider Senator Bill Cassidy as a conservative and Senator Bernie Sanders as a liberal. I would Joe Biden in the middle as a moderate.

      2. If you seriously prefer the shouting madman who can’t wrap his mind around a thought to save his life, because he makes your special place feel funny or whatever the hell it is, then you will understand when other people choose actual experience and plans to dig us out of the messes that he caused. Parsed, this means M4e, being a ‘moderate’, will swallow any pile of bullshit shoveled by a D, but if Trump cured cancer, he’d take cancer.
Again, we should not assume he’s bright enough to understand; he simply hasn’t the mental capabilities to do so.
      He’s a fucking ignoramus

  44. The question of how to pay for it all? What me worry?

  45. And the funding for school systems is going to be contingent on them fully opening, right? It’s not just going to be handed out, no-strings-attached, to the same school systems that have refused to work for the last year, right?

    Right?

    1. Sure…
Where did the teacher’s unions contributions go this year?

  46. “Biden is also proposing $170 billion to assist in reopening schools…”

Why? What happened to schools that requires that much money just to open the doors, especially considering that school districts haven’t been spending money on cleaning, school lunches, etc.?

    1. What the fuck for? They’ve got doors, the administrators have keys…what’s the billions for??

  47. “States and local governments have the ability to make their own taxing and spending decisions and should not expect or require federal aid—and certainly not when the federal government is in such dire fiscal straits on its own.”

What a load of horseshit. You argue for bailing out fucking airlines who did stock buybacks and all that bullshit (along with every other huge business) when they clearly didn’t deserve it but you wanna fuck state and city governments for this instead?

Fuck off- this is probably the BEST use of money. Cities and states can get back to normal. Same with money for a vaccine rollout so we can get back to normal quicker.

Glad to see we’re back on the “oh no, where will the money come from” as soon as a Dem is back in charge though. Just disregard the 2 TRILLION republicans added for fucking nothing but a short bump to the stockmarket.

    1. You caused the unnormal, please if you will donate your money to me so I can get back to normal.

    2. no one outside of their borders has any obligation to help bring places like NJ or IL (and specifically Chicago) back to what passes for normal in those places

      1. What is it about Chicago that makes it particularly undeserving of federal money?

        What could it be?

        1. Their obscenely bloated and overcompensated public employees. The city was in the worst financial shape in the country before this mess and bailing them out pretty much sends the message “fix nothing, its cool”.

          1. But there are trillions of dollars being pilfered and hoarded and God knows how much in offshore accounts. Surely we don’t need to make public employees’ lives even more miserable when there is such a wealth of wealth elsewhere.

Oh yes, wealthy people and institutions got that way because they played by alllllll the rules, and that’s why they’re good and deserving and can never ever be taxed to pay for their own society. People who work for a living deserve the boot.

        2. Well, we know it’s a hotbed of MAGA activity. They patrol the streets and attack famous black people!

        3. White privilege, of course.

If you recall, the famous French actor, Juicy Sommelier, courageously exposed Chicago as the capitol of MAGA country. While he was there plying his… craft, he was damn near lynched by two Nigerian white supremacists, and worse, they almost stole his sandwich. And now, the powers-that-be there are ruthlessly persecuting him and extorting him for money.

This must have been a rhetorical question, though. Right?

    3. You argue for bailing out fucking airlines who did stock buybacks and all that bullshit (along with every other huge business) when they clearly didn’t deserve it but you wanna fuck state and city governments for this instead?

No one here is arguing to bail out the airlines, you fucking waste of carbon molecules. And those state and city governments fucked themselves when they decided to shut down because they Fucking Loved Science! (and to deliberately hurt their own economies for political gain), but now are doing a 180 and saying they need to open back up.

The day you get a claw hammer to the skull is the day the human gene pool gets just a little bit more robust.

    4. Whoever ordered the lockdowns should be on the fiscal hook for their decision.

“”Just disregard the 2 TRILLION republicans added for fucking nothing””

To blame republicans on this is stupid. Pelosi was disappointed she couldn’t make it 3 Trillion. Funny how you ignore the roll democrats played in passing the outrageous spending bills.

      1. “Give them more money!”

The guy with the stumpy fat fingers who signed every bill that became law in the past 4 years.

        1. “…The guy with the stumpy fat fingers who signed every bill that became law in the past 4 years.”

Real hard-hitting analysis right there, stumpy fat fingers and all. A credit to you, certainly.

  48. Funny what HyR’s headline writer calls the brighter side now.

  49. Oh. I get $1,400 dollars in exchange for all my freedoms?
Good deal, sign me up. Go Biden!

    1. Thing is if you are one of those who gets that check nothing else changes for you. It will affect someone else who has to pay for it down the road.

  50. Why is it based on 2019 tax returns (pre-pandemic) when it is supposed to help people hurt by the pandemic (in 2020)? Shouldn’t it be based on your 2020 return?

    1. They tried to explain this to droolin’ Joe, but he fell asleep, and, well…

  51. a bailout for state and local governments,

It revealing Dems believe their top priority is ensuring the most pampered class of people in America (government employees and particularly teachers) is protected. We must double the pain everyone else endures so we can ensure these people bear none.

  52. The reconciliation process could be used to amend existing tax and budget matters with a simple majority vote in the Senate—perhaps to do something like adjusting the amount of the child tax credit—but relief checks and a state government bailout will likely require 60 votes.

Why lie? Obamacare showed us reconciliation can be used for whatever Democrats want it used for.

  53. And the horror has begun AGAIN! I’m not sure this country can take anymore of the Democratic National Socialism already pitched by Obama the first time around. Wonder how many Detroits will be created this time….

I cannot get over the way the left pretends they are right while their local Democratic leaders destroy their cities, kill their own, steal and dictate them. Seems the PROJECTION of their own misery is the only thing they have anymore.

    1. Making Misery “PLANS” over ‘those’ states isn’t going to fix the h*llhole you’ve all created for yourselves.

  54. I personally shed few tears over the departure of President Trump. That said, and respecting Biden’s 100 million vaccinations in his first 100 days, an admirable goal. Where is all the vaccine going to materialize from, and at the risk of being picky, how would it be distributed?

    1. You do realize that Biden (Gov-God Savior) didn’t make those right?

    2. So long as droolin’ Joe’s team can cook the books, it’s a snap!

    3. Glad you asked. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer will legislate 1000 trillion + infinity doses into existence immediately, and Andrew Cuomo will be in charge of distribution.

An admirable plan worthy of your respect. And if you question it further, you are an ungrateful wretch and probably an insurrectionist and a racist.

  55. Sorry pally, but the word is out. Here’s the deal…according to the legal definitions used since the 1905 ruling for vaccines, the covid concoctions are not legally vaccines. They are gene therapy technologies. At no time have Pfizer or Moderna said these were vaccines. They have not been tested to save lives, stop the virus from spreading or stop the virus from affecting the most at risk. Those are the normal LEGAL assumptions and written laws that define vaccines. 100 million lab rat doses…that’s a joke. These are experimental RNA/DNA altering brews that are still in trials and will be for at least another two years. You suckers thinking this is going to stop the fake pandemic are living a wet dream foisted by pharma, the government and fake medical experts like Fauci. By accepting these fake vaccines, you are in truth breaking the law.

    1. Check aisle 6; tin-foil lids are on blue-light special right now.

    2. That’s okay. Abiding by the law is optional now.
