Cops Threaten To Arrest Mom Who Wouldn't Show ID When She Picks Her Kids Up From School
"I pulled the kids and I'm homeschooling."

You may recall the saga of the South Carolina mom who granted her kids—ages 9, 10, and 11—permission to walk the mile home together, without her.
School officials refused to let them to do this, on the grounds that a nearby intersection (with walk/don't walk signals) is too dangerous. This particular mom's kids happen to cross it at other times, unaccompanied, on their way to and from extracurriculars.
Has the school never heard of crossing guards? No matter. The children were required to be picked up by an approved adult. If not, they would have to take the school bus.
The mom, Jessie Thompson, didn't understand why it was up to the school to decide what her kids did after leaving school property. She offered to sign a liability waiver. This did not move the needle and the issue came to a head this past week.
I'll let Thompson take it from here. She's a surgical neurophysiologist, which means that she monitors a patient's nervous system during surgery. In an email with the subject line, "It's Over!" she wrote:
Hi Lenore,
Just wanted to give you the final update.
We quit.
I pulled the kids and I'm homeschooling.
The school was making me go into the office to show my ID at dismissal. That worked for a time, until one day I forgot my ID.
When the secretary (who has known me for three years) said to me that she couldn't let me take the kids, I responded, "Just try to keep my kids from me" and then told my kids to exit the office.
My kids stood there, not knowing whether to listen to their mother or the secretary. I had to ask them twice to exit. That was the day I stole my kids from their school, because after all, the school has the primary authority and I, the parent, am only so lucky to be given access to the kids when the school allows.
The next day, my kids were all held in their classrooms until I showed my ID (to the same woman who has known me for three years), at which time she called each classroom individually to tell the teachers they could release the kids.
The following day, I refused to show my ID until they dismissed my kids, per the usual dismissal routine, and did not hold my kids hostage in order to play games with me.
They called the police.
I had about a 30-40 minute interaction with two police officers, almost being arrested at one point. I was successful that day, as the police instructed the office secretary to dismiss my kids and then I showed my ID before leaving with them.
The officers informed me that if I did the same thing the following day that I would be arrested.
And so for the next two weeks, the school held my kids in their classrooms, hostage, until I, their mother, showed my ID to a secretary who has a three-year history with me.
My attorney was unable to have that stop and I just couldn't take it anymore.
This lawsuit was going to cost us $10-15,000.
So my homeschool journey begins.
Wish me luck!
Thanks for your help. It was quite a ride.
Jessie
I do wish her luck. Her case has me thinking about Voltaire's observation that "those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities."
The absurdity here is not just that kids can't cross a street by themselves. It's also that the mom picking up her kids must show proof that she is the person everyone knows she is. As if the ID is more reliable than her own kids saying, "Hi mom!"
And the cruelty is that those rules allow the secretary—and cops—to torment the mom while claiming this is just for safety's sake.

Arrested for refusing to knuckle under to a cunt making ridiculous demands. These 'public servants' should all have their reproductive organs crushed in a vise.
What law would she be breaking? What would be the charges? Let me guess, disorderly conduct.
Stop resisting!
That's ridiculous that she got arrested for something so petty.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Nice language, buddy. The lady had to show ID. Big deal, you're acting like you've never had to pull out your ID before. You have to show ID when you buy your six pack of Bud Light, no? You have to show ID when you grab your carton of Kools, yea? You have to show ID when you check into a hotel, don't you? You are probably one of those inbred backwoods mongoloids who wants people to show ID when they vote, no? How ironic.
Are you really trying to insinuate that someone's own child is less valuable than a pack of damn cigarettes? I get that the kid might not matter so much to you, but at least try to have the wherewithal to imagine what it's like to pick up your child from school and how much that kid probably would matter to you. I'm always amazed how little empathy or self-awareness you people have. This website makes me sick.
Do other parents have to show their ID? No? Then fuck you. Get up off of your fucking knees.
The language people use on this site is horrible. You should really think about cleaning up your act, pal.
It's implied in the article that it's standard procedure to show ID when picking up kids at this school. Why should this entitled bimbo get to be above the law and not show ID like everyone else? What if someone came in one day impersonating her? It's a failsafe designed to protect children which should be our number 1 priority as adults. The fact that people like you are so against the safety of children is disgusting, I really don't know how you sleep at night.
Poor little buttercup. Does the language bruise your tender heart? Man the fuck up.
What if someone came in one day impersonating her
The kids might be able to point that out. Fuck you.
The fact that people like you are so against the safety of children is disgusting
I said no such thing, but you knew that. Fuck you. There is no such thing as absolute safety.
I really don’t know how you sleep at night.
Mostly on my left side, with some ASMR in the background.
And fuck you.
Yea, well f*ck you too, I guess. I have no idea what I did to make you so mad, I’m just trying to voice an opinion in a friendly and respectful way. It's okay for us as human beings to have different opinions without throwing temper tantrums willed with f-bombs and insults all over the place. You've really got me PO'd right now so I think it's best if I remove myself from this situation. Oh, and go f*ck yourself you piece of sh*t.
I’m just trying to voice an opinion in a friendly and respectful way.
You are probably one of those inbred backwoods mongoloids who wants people to show ID when they vote, no? How ironic.
Fuck off, retard.
You're just mad because I’m still beating you on the scoreboard. Today is no exception. Ah, feels good, as usual.
Enlightened Atheist: 8

"Beating you on the scoreboard" must mean "lying my ass off about being friendly and respectful" in this case.

Only a retarded person would think they are somehow winning by suggesting that it's a good thing for a mom to be coereced into showing her ID before she could get her kids, despite everyone in the room knows who she is.
I have received $17634 last month from home by working online in my part time. I am a full time student and doing this easy home based work for 3 to 4 hours a day. This job is very simple to do and its regular earnings are much better qwe than any other office type work.

So....... you’re a sock for which one of our resident progtards exactly?
"I’m just trying to voice an opinion in a friendly and respectful way."
Your opinion is unfriendly.
His opinion was downright absurd.
They only asked her for her ID to torture her into submission. They all knew who she was. They were going to have it their way, or no way at all. Even so much as to bring the police in to arrest her for not having her ID. Hope "enlightened" is enjoying all that jackboot jizz all over his face.
Amazing that in *your mind showing ID = torture. Guess you're probably against voter ID laws as well, which is at least one thing we agree on.
*notice how I’m using the correct spelling of your.
Another dumbass retard moment for you. She showed ID every time she went there. There was one time she forgot her ID and they wouldn't give her the kids. Read the article, dumbass.
Nope. Everyone should have an ID to vote. But picking up your kids isn't voting, and it's not a comparable analogy. Kids can walk home on their own, with parent's permission. It's not the school's job to decide what her kids did after leaving school property. She gave them permission to leave, end of story. You don't need ID when your kids are there to ID mom. It is easier to make a fake ID, than it is to disguise yourself to such a degree that kids would not be able to detect "fake" mom. So no. Your analogy is retarded. It's another dumb fuck Unenlightened atheist comment.
You are a genuine moron. Reason.com doesn't allow editing of comments once posted. I would have loved to fix my spelling, but could not. Luckily we had you, a genuine retard, who could detect grammar errors but not a refutation, to point this out to us. Maybe we could get you up there to reason's web maintenance men so you can get on your knees and get some jizz sprayed all over your face. Maybe then they will put an edit button on this damn form. (Bring your ID).
I would have loved to fix my spelling, but could not.
Huh... Probably just easier not to make the mistake in the first place, but that's just one man's opinion.
It's another dumb f*ck Unenlightened atheist comment.
You seem really mad, hope you're doing okay. 🙂
Your mom probably thought the same thing about you.
I'm feeling guilty and sad. The same way a person would feel after kicking the shit out of a retard that crossed the line. You feel bad because they're a retard and can't help it.
Check my grammar above. Let me know if you need help with reading comprehension.
I thought this dipshit was being sarcastic to start. Even though you are a troll, EA fuck off and die.

Yeah, because you'd be a threat to me otherwise, right? Go do whatever self harming ritual you have to do and move on. And fuck you.

Yeah, you roughed up some elderly guy wearing a MAGA hat at your local BLM riot. That's nothing to brag about you little bitch.
Low IQ John makes up some weird twisted fantasy involving me harming an elderly retarded person. You are sick.
No. Even I have standards on who I spray jizz on.
No. Even I have standards on who I spray jizz on
^^^"Gay. Super gay." LOL
I guess you have never been with a woman before. Too bad.
Lol you're talking about spraying jizz on a man's face and then remarking about someone else being "super gay" and then being totally confused after... lol amazing specimen you are.
He's probably going to suck some jackboot cock and swallow. Feel bad those jackboots are taking advantage of retards. Imagine a retarded person sucking your cock.
" I’m just trying to voice an opinion in a friendly and respectful way."
Bullshit, you're just being a stupid troll who is here only to post a contrary attitude in order to provoke just these responses. Go get yourself a life.
Don't feed the trolls.
I wonder if someone held your head underwater if you would still be an athiest?
Probably. Ask ID first.
Blow it out your ass, you trolling cunt. The kids are not the property of the state, and the snotty little apparatchiki who tried to keep the kids from leaving with their mother should be facing charges for attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment.
-jcr
Kids are not the property of parents either.
They are the responsibility of parents you disingenuous twat.
Kids are not the property of parents either.
THANK YOU. Kids should be subject to every whim of their parents.
The moment in the article when the kids don't know whether to go with the mom or stay at the school was very interesting and actually somewhat heartwarming. I think it's good these children are learning to question authority, no matter who's it is. Maybe the supposed libertarians here could learn a thing or two from these kids.
So... when mom goes to the school to pick up her kids, they... shouldn't go with her? The article is about the school's abuse of authority on this mother. Not your dumbshit distractions.
LOL. Retard alert.
Yay. Small disobedient little kids. Unenlightened has the warm fuzzies that elementary grade kids should question listening to mom.
Or we could just simply dismiss your retardation as simply that.
If Enlightened atheist thinks letting children go home with their parents is tantamount to being au ject to every whim of their parents, I'd hate to see what Unenlightened Atheist would think.
Taking the kids home isn't a whim, pinhead.
-jcr
Tell that to the guys paying child support, JFaggot.
Another stupid commie pinko comment from Jfree. He suggests a situation not reflective of the events in question. This isn't an abusive mother or stranger picking up her kids. This is the school receptionist being a petty dictator.
Kids are more the property of parents than the state. In the absence of the state, if you kidnapped someone's kids and the parents found where you were and who did it, they would slaughter you.
No idea what made him mad? Really? You came into the discussion looking for a fight and now you don't understand how you got one? You're pathetic.
Yeah that's right. Fuck off. I'm sure out there, there is someone who will ask your for your ID right now, whose cock you can suck.
You could be more childish, but I doubt it. And the “c” word is highly offensive.
It's not implied at all. On fact it's clear from the article that this is a rule put in place for this one family.
^this^
The original article refers to parents needing a "walker card". The ID requirement was placed specifically on this parent.
Okay maybe I missed it, where is it implied that only this particular mom has to do this?
Fuck off, slaver.
Enlightened is obviously a bad satirist gone troll.
Just plain pathetic lifeless troll. This is all they have.
Is this OBL branching out?
"It’s a failsafe designed to protect children"
It's a failsafe designed to protect government when their employees act like retards.
There's a big difference between the same person picking up the kids every day, versus the one day grandma shows up and the secretary doesn't recognize the new person. So she shows ID and verifies that the person is on the authorized pickup list.
Do you government employees have even two brain cells in your heads to apply a little common sense to basic human fucking activities? Sheesh.
No, our priority should be raising independent, functional children, not protecting them. In fact, a certain degree of not protecting them is required.
I'm against unreasonable attempts to secure children, because all it does is create anxious needy adults who can't function on their own. Children need some autonomy - getting hurt is part of that. It's how we learn.
"all it does is create anxious needy adults who can’t function on their own."
But that's how you make people dependent on government...
Sorry you never heard foul language and it offends you snowflake. Go to another website where they have crayons, hot chocolate and your favorite blankee cocksucker!
"The language people use on this site is horrible."
Fuck off, ass eater. You work for the government, don't you? I can tell the winy, self righteous attitude of government employees. You definitely have the mentality of a bureaucrat.
I try to have a conversation and everyone here just jumps on me and attacks me. I seriously don't get it. I thought libertarianism was about asking questions and being allowed to have different opinions and working out problems together, but judging from this thread it's about being close-minded bigoted uber-conservatives who use foul language and threaten violence against their perceived enemies. Whatever, I’m not going to let it affect my psyche, I honestly just feel bad for you John, as well as the others having temper tantrums (Unicorn, Red Rocks White Power, etc)
What makes you think I'm all about White Power? The worst people in the country are white liberals.
Your comment was absurd on it's face. Imagine I hold your kids captive and ask for ID. Imagine I know who you are, your kids know who you are, and I simply use the ID to torment you, and there is nothing you can do about it. Even the cops are on my side, and there is no explicit law requiring such. Your comment was a dumbfuck opinion of epic retardation.
Nope. It's about us telling you to fuck off whenever we want. You were allowed your differing opinion. No one stopped you from posting that retarded shit. You posted it, continuously, unabated. But nope - There will be no "working out problems together" with you. It's just us telling you to fuck off and die.
No. It's about you advocating for the state to hold children hostage, while demanding an ID even though everyone knows who the parent is. All I can say, is they are sure glad they didn't do that to me. I wouldn't put up with it.
LOL. It's already in your psyche. LOL
You advocated for the kidnapping of children by the state, under some bizarre guise of the mom's doppelganger coming into the school and whisking them away.
That's not going to win you many friends around here.
Then fuck off. Go suck a cop's dick or an elementary school principal. I really wish you grow a brain, but you are what you are.
I've never had to show ID to pick up my kids. They used the ID to torture her. To show the parent that they were in charge. To express their authority over the parent. You are just simply too stupid to understand.
There is no "law" requiring parents to show ID to pick up their kids from daycare, the school, their grandparents house. No law.
Your a literal dumbass. The receptionist knew the kids parents for three years and didn't like her. The kids know who their parents are. If someone came impersonating them, the kids need only say, nope! don't know this person. literal retarded dumbass.
If the receptionist didn't know the parent sure. Or the receptionist could say to the children - kids, do you know this person? Dumbfuck comment.
This is not about safety. None of this did anything to make anyone safe. They were punishing the parent, because they didn't like her, and because they wanted her to submit to their authority. They wanted submission. Nothing more. Now skip on back to retardville.
Your a literal dumbass. The receptionist knew the kids parents for three years and didn't like her. The kids know who their parents are. If someone came impersonating them, the kids need only say, nope! don't know this person. literal retarded dumbass.
1) *You're (who's the dumbass?)
2) What if someone came in perfectly disguised as the mom and fools both the receptionist and the kids and then abducts them? Don't think this simple, harmless security measure would be worth it then? Amazing how you're calling me retarded.
"perfectly disguised"
Amazing how you’re calling me retarded.
Amazingly, the retard doesn't have an issue spelling out the actual word anymore after whinging about it when he first showed up. LMAO.
Incoherent babbling, as usual.
Speaking from experience, I see.
2) What if someone came in perfectly disguised as the mom...
Phhhhhhhhhht! You're the dumbass. Yes you are retarded.
"1) *You’re (who’s the dumbass?)"
Oh the grammar police are here! I KNEW you were a government employee!
2) The mom was OK with that risk. And it's really up to HER, not the lowly government employees. The school works for HER, not the other way around.
And "what if" the receptionist is a disguised alien and was secretly abducting children for use as fertilizer in the alien hydroponic farms.
You can come up with any off-the-wall "threat" and use it to justify any sort of stupid (or knowingly bad) behavior. Apparently, common sense is anything but common these days.
"What if someone came in perfectly disguised as the mom and fools both the receptionist and the kids"
That's much less likely than someone coming in with a perfectly faked ID.
"The language people use on this site is horrible. You should really think about cleaning up your act, pal..."
Fuck off and die, slaver.
The language used toward so-called "enlightened atheist" is entirely appropriate. Such sniveling slaves willing beg for their shackles and evince hatred toward anyone who stands up for freedom. They point at "laws" like they're something sacred handed down from an omnipotent being. And given the completely illogical nature of his "argument", it is quite clear that he has ground for filing suit against his primary school provider - he got ripped off.
Enlightened Atheist, I'm glad to see your anger at conservative non-thinkers for their non-thinking ways, in many matters. It is good to see some diversity here!
However, your above analogy misses the mark, in one big way: When I show my ID to buy some liquor, or some smokes, the smokes are NOT smart enough to look at me, recognize me, and say, "Hi MomDad! Can we go home now?"
The school control freaks here show PROFOUND disrespect, not just to the parents, but also to the children (on whose behalf these "public servants" are SUPPOSEDLY working).
SQRLSY,
I'll take that into consideration. Thank you for your thought-provoking insight, as usual.
Yea... somewhere, there is a some jackboot jizz awaiting to be sprayed all over your face. I suggest you get to it.
When sqrlsy's on your side, you can be assured that you're full of shit.
-jcr
This must be the actual cunt that demanded the ID.
She's a little testy that someone didn't kiss her ring.
1. No, I do not have to show ID to buy beer.
2. No, I do not have to show ID to buy cigarettes.
3. No, I have never, except one time in Spain, ever had to show ID to rent a hotel room.
Sounds like you’re an elitist then. Thanks for all the police state assfuck.
LOL
Funny story, many years ago when I was only 30 I tried to buy cigs and a six pack in MA. The "authoritarian in charge", a.k.a. cashier, wouldn't accept my out of state drivers license for the beer but it seemed fine for the cigs. I walked out saying only "yeah, nah."
I just turned 69.
A couple of years ago I went to my local Kroger. Upon entering a nice young lady offered me a bottle of OJ, because "we are honoring our seniors today". I declined. I picked up a few items including a six pack. The cashier demanded my ID to prove I was 21. When I protested she said it was a law.
It's not, although the store and employee could be fined for selling alcohol to someone under age. I tried to explain that to her but her employer apparently lied to her.
I left my purchases on the belt and went to the Publix across the street. I purchased the same items at a slightly higher price, but I was not offered a free a OJ, nor required to show my ID at checkout.
Nice example of Poe's Law in action.
Because the kids aren't capable of identifying their own mother? They're 9, 10, and 11 ffs.
At 6 i was walking home from school unsupervised and by myself. The bell rang, school was over, we left. The school didn't hold us for parents or make us get on a bus.
We moved, and at 11 i was biking to and from school across a busy road (which didn't even have a light at the time) and a mile away from my house.
This should be normal. Making a parent pick up their perfectly capable children and show ID should be criminal.
Well lucky you, but you never know what's can happen, especially nowadays. If the school chooses to enforce that particular policy, it is obviously for a reason, and I trust whatever reason that may be. We are all pretending that we live in this community, but the truth is none of us know what it's like to live there or what dangers they face. Can we all please stop acting like we're experts and just admit maybe there is something we don't understand for once in our lives?
Yep! So usher in the police state, ID's, papers please, and time for enlightened atheist to get on his knees and take a jizz spray.
What if they required you take your shoes off, or strip naked, or submit to a DNA verification? Just curious.
It's all made very clear in both articles, dumbass.
Of COURSE there's a reason! And this being a government run facility, I can guarantee that it's a piss-poor one. That you trust it says all we need to know about you.
"If the school chooses to enforce..."
It's the mom's choice, NOT the school's. If the school wants that to be the default security measure, fine. But when a parent decides to overrule that default, then that's the parent's choice.
Suck a cock, cut it off, then fuck yourself to death with it you tyrant motherfucker.
She shouldn't have to show anything to pick up her kids. If you were standing between me and my kids and my kids are telling you who I am, and you still want to see ID, I'd fucking slaughter your ass. I would revel in watching you bleed out. And I'd torture you for the few moments you had left. And all the world would see of you, is your disappearance.
The receptionist knew precisely who she was. She knew her for 3 years. The receptionist didn't like her and said no ID - no kids. Even though she knew who she was. The kids knew who she was. And she even called police on the mother. And you would think the police would say - WTF lady, just give her the kids. She knows you. You know her. The kids are right there and they know their mom. But no. Instead the tyrant cops threatened to arrest her.
You are a dumbass of the nth degree. I almost feel sorry for my severe castigation solely due to your intelligence quotient. I feel like a guy that just punched a retarded person right now.
Again. Receptionist knew the mother. The mother knew the receptionist. The kids knew the mother. The kids are waiting to go home with the mother, and the receptionist is saying, "NO! we need ID." As if an ID was better identification, than her own children. And again - Kicking a retarded person.
I'm not sure what to say to a retarded person. Go be sick then? - you are dismissed? Fuck off and die?
The receptionist didn't like her and said no ID - no kids.
Maybe the mom should've been nicer then? Not sure what to say to you. It's a tricky situation that we may never fully have the answer to.
Maybe the mom should have brought you there to that school with her, so you could suck some dick and get face sprayed so she could get her kids back ASAP.
Then answer is for her to give her the kids. Is the kids going home with the receptionist? No?? Who is the kids going home with? Oh okay.
Is the kids going home with the receptionist?
1) Are the kids going home with the receptionist? (really, it's okay that you don't understand grammar)
2) If the mom can't prove her identity, then maybe the kids are going home with her, we don't really know because that isn't what happened.
3) Let's say the mom can't prove her identity, even if she believes the receptionist remembers her. Let's say the receptionist doesn't remember her. Let's say the cops come asking for the mother's ID and she can't or won't provide ID. Why should the police allow those children to go with a potential stranger and potential threat? Considering we don't know the ages of the children in the story it's very possible the children could be tricked into going with someone who looks very similar to the mother. ID is just one more safeguard to prevent the kinds of tragedies that are bound to happen were they not there. I don't know how to explain this to you any other way.
That's about all you understand. That and getting on your knees for some jumbo jackboot jizz.
200th time. Read the fucking article. Pull that cock out of your mouth and pay attention. Everyone knows who she is. Everyone knew her identity. This was about the receptionist, likely Charlene Cummings, at 843-873-3050, with email: chacummings@dorchester2.k12.sc.us or Naysha Lucarelli, at same number with email nlucarelli@dorchester2.k12.sc.us that pulled this shit. And it was backed up by Shane Sanford, at ssanford@dorchester2.k12.sc.us. Maybe you can go over there, suck Sanford's cock and get this cleared up for this kid's mom.
The kids can ID their parents. Another epic dumb fuck comment of yours. She didn't even want to go to the school to pick them up. She wanted them to walk home, but the nanny statist tardland that is this school, wouldn't let her. So she started going to pick them up, and they demanded ID. Read the fucking article. OMG. She has known the receptionist for three years. Fuck!
Read the fucking articles! You can correct some grammar but you can't read??? WTF! Their ages are 9, 10, and 11. Fuck!
It's very possible you could be retarded, or close to it. Definitely <100.
Statistically not going to happen. The parent doesn't want these "safeguards." And she doesn't have to put up with them, which is why she flipped the school the bird and yanked her kids right out of their grasp. No they are not "bound" to happen. What a pathetic nanny statist you are.
Statistically not going to happen...

"it’s okay that you don’t understand grammar"
Enlightened Atheist: Grammar Cop...see, I knew you were a government employee since you keep coming with the grammar checks. What a douchebag. (IS DOUCHEBAG one word, or two, I'll let the grammar police educate all of us)
3) Let's flip this around, and say she does produce a fake ID but the kids scream and insist "THAT'S NOT MY MOMMY." Now, should the secretary still turn the kids over? (I know how a government employee would act in that situation)
I think it's clear that the government functionary would turn the kids over to the person with the fake ID even though neither she nor the kids recognized this person. Otherwise, why insist on checking ID on someone you know.
And there's a whole black market for fake ID's. It's much, much easier to get a convincing fake ID than to disguise yourself as someone else and convince people who know that person.
I almost feel sorry for my severe castigation solely due to your intelligence quotient.
My IQ is 159 by the way, dumb*ss.
My IQ is 159 by the way, dumb*ss.
LMAO!
Lol why the eff is that funny to you, the person who can barely type in full sentences? Not being rhetorical, I’m genuinely curious. I’m fascinated by the minds halfwits like yourself. 🙂
Lol why the eff is that funny to you, the person who can barely type in full sentences?
Same post:
I’m fascinated by the minds halfwits like yourself.
LMAO
Did they tell you that in your "special class"?
I've paid for many legitimate certified online IQ tests. I've taken 2 per year for the past 15 years as a way to test myself. I've been a 159 for as long as worth remembering. If that's hard to believe it's because there are probably many things far beyond your immediate comprehension. Before you accuse me of judging you, realize that it's possible to have dignity without being a certified genius.
"legitimate certified online IQ test"
lol
I think you need to talk to a qualified mental health professional about your obsession with such tripe. Maybe if you get a handle on your inferiority complex, you might actually achieve something in your life.
-jcr
So, down from mine.
Yes, possibly so, as I don't know what your IQ is. Good to meet a fellow genius, if that's true. There aren't enough of us out there!
My IQ is 159
In my career, I've had the good fortune to work with several actual geniuses, proven by their professional achievements. One thing they have in common is that they place little to no weight on IQ scores. Mensa is full of pinheads whose greatest achievement in life was being one in fifty on one trial of any of the tests they take. In the DC area, Mensa is full of apparatchiki whose only hope for career advancement is seniority.
Sorry to break it to you, but by bragging about your pseudo-scientific ranking, you brand yourself as a pathetic mediocrity. Sucks to be you.
-jcr
Wow, a counter-example to the idea that high IQ and intelligence are the same thing!
Then fuck off and don't come back asshat.
It's a troll, guys.
Fuck off, slaver.
The school threatened to hold her kids hostage because she forgot her ID. As the article explained, the staff knew who she was already, so what point was there rally in the demand to show ID? Did they think the was a clone? Evil twin from an alternate dimension? Terminator?
What if her ID had been stolen? With the Covid thing going on, you can't just hop over to the DMV or wherever and get a new one. You likely have to set up an appointment, and get other documents to prove your identity. How long could the school have kept children from someone they knew was the kids' parent?
If her ID was stolen then she should 1) file a police report
2) yes, go the the DMV and get a new one.
3) maybe have some form of readily available backup identification i.e. a passport or other state issued ID.
4) I’m aware that it's not always possible to control the outcome of every situation, but the mother should do better not to put herself in situations that might get her robbed. Ask yourself: why is the mother getting robbed and why is the school so afraid of kids walking home on their own? Everyone here is acting like they live in the community and understand the dangers they face but the cold hard truth is that none of us know.
Maybe for once on this thread we can admit no, we don't know everything, and yes maybe both the mother and possibly the school made an error at some point. I’m willing to concede certain points other posters have made, like 1) ID isn't the end all safety precaution.
2) The ages of the students were actually listed in the article, I had forgotten at one point. They are 9, 10, 11 years old.
Some things you guys could concede on:
1) Yes, it is possible for an intruder to perfectly disguise themselves as the parent and take the children, which is part of the big reason I’m arguing in favor of ID.
2) While she demonstrated her pride, the mom was at fault in many ways and if she really cared about the well-being of her kids, she would have just showed the darn ID.
3) She probably could have been nicer to the receptionist avoiding this entire ordeal.
4) We don't know all the school's exact reasons for needing ID. As I said down thread, we don't know if the receptionist has some sort of eye or cognitive impairments that don't allow her to immediately recognize the mother without ID.
5) Some of the commenters here have been very rude and downright filthy towards me, which is not a good look for people claiming to defend these children. I feel as bad or worse for these children than anyone here, but I have tried to be courteous in defending them. Imagine the children read this thread. Who's side do you think they'd take?
"If her ID was stolen then she should 1) file a police report
2) yes, go the the DMV and get a new one.
3) maybe have some form of readily available backup identification i.e. a passport or other state issued ID."
None of that addresses the question I posed. How long does the school get to hold the kids hostage if getting a new ID would take some unspecified number of days, since right now you can't just walk into a DMV or wherever to get a new ID issued?
"4) I’m aware that it’s not always possible to control the outcome of every situation, but the mother should do better not to put herself in situations that might get her robbed. Ask yourself: why is the mother getting robbed and why is the school so afraid of kids walking home on their own? Everyone here is acting like they live in the community and understand the dangers they face but the cold hard truth is that none of us know."
True, but, unlike you, I presume the parent knows the capabilities of her children, the route they take home in the community, and has a better idea of whether or not it's too dangerous than those of us posting here. This encounter should have ended with her informing the school that she is authorizing them to release the kids on their own recognizance so they can walk home, and the school recognizing that that's a decision she's allowed to make.
Addressing this in a separate post.
"1) Yes, it is possible for an intruder to perfectly disguise themselves as the parent and take the children, which is part of the big reason I’m arguing in favor of ID."
"Perfectly disguise"? Maybe with some sort of cosmetic surgery, but otherwise I highly doubt someone will be able to disguise themselves so well that all three of her children would be fooled. Appearance, build, voice, mannerisms, mode of transportation, etc. Let us keep our 'what if's at least somewhat plausible, shall we?
"2) While she demonstrated her pride, the mom was at fault in many ways and if she really cared about the well-being of her kids, she would have just showed the darn ID."
Even when she forgot the ID? Get in the car, drive home to get the ID, drive back to show it, then get the kids when they probably could have made the walk home on their own by then? I disagree. The receptionist decided to get power-trippy, especially by calling the police.
3) She probably could have been nicer to the receptionist avoiding this entire ordeal."
A little scrape and grovel to the schoolmarm, eh? Again, I disagree.
"4) We don’t know all the school’s exact reasons for needing ID. As I said down thread, we don’t know if the receptionist has some sort of eye or cognitive impairments that don’t allow her to immediately recognize the mother without ID."
We do know the receptionist has been familiar with the mother for three years. That must be some eye or cognitive impairment!
"5) Some of the commenters here have been very rude and downright filthy towards me, which is not a good look for people claiming to defend these children. I feel as bad or worse for these children than anyone here, but I have tried to be courteous in defending them. Imagine the children read this thread. Who’s side do you think they’d take?"
I have no control over what others post. IMO, the kids should have been allowed to walk home from the outset. By contrast, you seem to be 'defending the children' by blaming their mother. I have a hard time seeing how the kids would take your side.
Yes, it is possible for an intruder to perfectly disguise themselves as the parent and take the children
I think any makeup artist could tell you that it's a lot harder to convince the kid that you're their parent than it is to get a fake ID. For a self-proclaimed genius, you're pretty fucking stupid.
-jcr
Great! now do voting.
"This website makes me sick." And yet you are here!
I want to thank you for your comment, showing us all how morally repugnant and unenlightened atheists actually are. There is no moral authority in worshipping the state, elevating a school secretary over a parent in a child's life.
I have been told requiring an ID is racist...not everyone can afford or has the time to take off work to get one
Now that is an intelligent comment. Only an idiot would chase after your red herring. You are the rat on the wheel in his cage. Enjoy your fulfilled life.
THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO DON'T THINK YOU NEED AN ID TO VOTE. Hellllloooooooooooooooooo. Anybody home? The Democrats run the Department of Education, control the Teachers Unions, and destroy everything they touch. See California, Illinois, and New York where taxpayers are fleeing in droves so large that they are losing Congressional representatives. Thank God.
I know just the guys to mete out your just punishment.

SleepyJoe will solve this problem on day one.
Agreed. Thanks for saying none too succinctly what most rational lovers of liberty are thinking.
I mean, how will they know it is her doing it again the next day if she doesnt show ID?
The fact that the mother was arrested for refusing to show her I. D. at the school--that's absolutely and totally asinine! What is wrong with these public servants?

"The officers informed me that if I did the same thing the following day that I would be arrested."
But God forbid anyone be arrested for looting or rioting in Portland or some other "woke" place.
Her mistake was she should have called the cops on the school for kidnapping.
That was my first reaction, too. As in a domestic dispute, who calls the police first matters a lot.
Cops will always back up fellow government employees before anyone else, so it wouldn't have mattered who called them first.
This is the unfortunate truth.
A thin blue line in the classroom separates anarchy from learning. Think about that next time you disparage a certified, American teacher!
The problem today is that people with degrees in education think they are so much smarter than people with degrees outside of education.
Our son's fifth grade teacher thought the reason why he was doing poorly in math was due to a lack of interest. If he would stop goofing off and pay attention, he would do better.
No, the reason he goofed off was that Common Core was confusing our son, but he would rather get a bad grade than admit to the teacher he doesn't understand something.
The teacher should have asked our son if he needed extra help, and told us that he might have issues with advocating for himself.
But the teacher, who later became the local union president and once wore a "Teachers for Obama" shirt and a day when parents were helping out thinks he's smarter than the parents who have been raising the kid since birth.
And people with Ed.D.s who insist on being called, say, "Dr. Jill" (to pick a name at random) are the worst of all.
This happened to me once in elementary school. I lived walking distance from the school, and would regularly walk to/from school. One day some Karen decided I couldn't walk home and insisted that I instead get on a bus that would take twice as long to get me home.
Perhaps an early sign of my disdain for authority, I just ignored this woman and walked home anyways. Literally walked off while she was still Karen-ing at me, an 8 year old showing her this kind of attitude must've been infuriating. Nothing ever came of it since my parents never heard about it, but I can imagine the tirade my Dad would've subjected the school to had he found out that they tried to stop me from walking home.
Your parent's clearly didn't teach you the #1 rule of child safety, which is, of course, always do anything any adult tells you to do, especially if it involves getting in their vans or staying for some special alone time after your classmates have gone.
For the children.
Had a similar experience when I was younger as well. Why would I take the bus that takes 45 minutes instead of just walking 10 minutes home?
Are you stupid, lady?
It was especially funny in my case because the walk home involved going across the football field, then on a trail through the woods back to my street. I was never exposed to traffic, this was about the safest walk possible.
As opposed to getting on a school bus and all the dangers associated with that, particularly in winter when all the streets were iced over much of the time.
That wasn't my concern at 8 though, my concern was maximizing the amount of Super Nintendo time I got before Mom got home and made me do homework.
similar story, only we; my older brother, younger sister and I, had to ride the bus. The bus drove past our house first, and stopped 3 houses down to let another kid off. The driver refused to stop at our house until she did her full route, and let us off 45 minutes later. Also refused to let us off at the first kids house. So after 2 days of this we exited the back emergency exit when she stopped at the first kids house. Still don't know WTF was wrong with her, a grudge or something.
Yep she did the right thing don’t keep them in public government daycare. They won’t learn a damn thing except neo marxist crap. Cops shoulda laughed that one off but of course we live in a police state and it’s only going to get worse. Pretty soon you’ll have no choice the gov idiots will just keep the kids until they are 18 and fully indoctrinated.
Yeah, you actually do these kids a bigger favor by keeping them out of schools, considering the teachers and administrators are almost all brainwashed, Democrat-voting bobbleheads.
Socialization is important, but that can be provided through community center activities, or setting up a educational co-op with other neighborhood families that share your values. The caveat is that this would only work on a broad scale in a society that values two-parent households.
You don't need to "set up" socialization. It happens all the time even within a family setting. And many, many single parents find ways to homeschool and socialize their kids.
That's not any different from what I actually said.
In the sixties (and, yes I was there, and can remember parts of it), we said "you can't fight city hall, but you can burn it down".
Might be time for some remembered history.
"Might be time for some remembered history."
From the 60s? Who was sober enough to remember anything?
The squares who supported LBJ.
Defund the Administration!
Kids are property of the state. They just let you borrow them.
You are not far off. I think we are about 80% there.
I have seen too many stories about what CPS can do to think that we are not 100% there in some states.
New Jersey comes to mind; a great experiment, rather like a control group of what life would be like had we not separated from GB, or lost the cold war [pretty much the same outcome].
It takes a village.
...to burn a witch.
Thank God for virtual learning these days!
(unless my kid leaves his Nerf gun out and it shows up on camera, then you have a different problem on your hands)
It is hard to say, if this sort of absurdity is due to an increasing sense of being responsible for every possible outcome that can be traced back to the school, and fear of "not doing enough" because "you should have known" [that those kids would be run over by a drunk or distracted driver at that intersection, or that "you should never release a child to anyone without proper ID no exceptions I don't care how well you know them"] or is it just an overreaching need to control everything? This sort of thinking it what has lead us to zero tolerance [and about as much judgement or critical thinking to go with it] and micromanagement of every aspect of life.
I dunno it’s stupid but a small thing. Sounds like the is going through a lot of trouble because of a dumb rule.
But otherwise you're ok with it? Just how much control are you willing to relinquish?
I understand that we all need to pick our battles, and determine just how much trouble it is worth to take on something like a school system, or a government at any level; likewise, I think we all need to push back more than a little when the control becomes overly arbitrary and intrusive. Otherwise you are just letting the pile a crap people want to impose on you get bigger and bigger, until there is not much you can do about it.
It wouldn’t bother me but if it pisses her off that much she could have fought smarter. What does she get? She hasn’t changed anything. A big legal bill for something she can’t win. She has to arrange her life for home schooling, not because she wanted that in the first place but because of this ID issue.
There is a place around here where I stop for beer or wine sometimes. They have a strict ID policy. I am very obviously of age. But it is not the cashiers fault. I don’t get upset about it. So what?
An overzealous school security policy is not exactly the road to tyranny.
An overzealous school security policy is not exactly the road to tyranny.
Removing the word "not" from this sentence would make it 100% true.
Having to show an I. D. when one wants to purchase some alcoholic beverages is legitimate. Demanding that a mother show her I. D. when she's just picking her kids up at school is way beyond ludicrous, imho.
Not getting beer, which is not your property in the first place, is not even in the same universe as not getting your own kids from agents of the state. Especially when the exercise of authority in question is obviously arbitrary and petty.
And the guy selling beer won't call in the state agents who then threaten physical violence and/or imprisonment on you if you don't do what the cashier says today and every day in the future.
I see all these people saying "So what? Just show ID so you won't be thrown in prison". Just the fact that you'll be thrown in prison is cause enough to NOT show ID in my book. That's crazy talk.
The people who have no issues with the proliferation of "Show me your papers." are the same boot-licking, statist, nut jobs that buy into the "What are you worried about if you've got nothing to hide?" schtick the armed guvment agents like.
“What are you worried about if you’ve got nothing to hide?”
I actually said that shortly after 9/11 and the "Patriot Act" became soon the law of the land. I put that level of dumbness on a par with voting for Carter in 75. Then I was barley old enough to vote so can claim youth; as for the latter, that was just stupid of me; at the time I truly did not "it could get that bad" in America. I was wrong, and passively accepting the seemingly benign mandates of the State is truly a road to perdition
So you are saying that children are property of their parents?
Pretty much, yeah. But different of course.
Minor children own themselves, but they can't fully exercise their rights until they mature. Parents or legal guardians are, in large part, trustees of those rights until they come of age or are legally emancipated. Were kids treated as chattels of their parents in "the bad old days?" Yup. Do state functionaries sometimes step between trustee-parents and children when they are violative of their charges' rights? That's how it is supposed to work. Is the state apparatus for that simultaneously guilty of incompetence and of overreach? You bet!
The same store clerk may ask to see my ID to qualify me for a senior citizen discount AND be required by the state to check my ID for an alcohol purchase. Outlets for booze may be required to card everyone. I suppose I could be a 20-year-old drama student adept at making myself up as someone over 4 decades older? {"Evil plan" concocted by theater-geeks, but never executed, during HS. }
She said taking the school to court would have cost $10-15K, not that she actually spent that money. She pulled the kids out and is homeschooling them now precisely because taking the school to court would have been throwing money down the drain.
She also mentioned the secretary has known her for three years. If the bitch doesn't recognize her on sight at this point, she's either blind or needs to be more engaged with the parents.
she’s either blind...
You unintentionally raise a good point. We don't know if she has any sort of eye impairment or other cognitive issues keeping her from immediately recognizing the mother, hence why valid state ID is the quickest proof-positive way for her demonstrate who she is, get her children and get on with her life.
Brilliant trolling, dude. Brilliant. It's like you're the Liquid Terminator to OBL's T-800: a truly superior model. Well done.
Has to be. Nobody who can form sentences could really be that obtuse.
If she's blind, how would she see the ID? If she's a retard, despite knowing who this woman is for three years, why is she in charge of vetting who the parents are?
Because it's all about the children's safety, so we'll put someone cognitively incompetent in charge of releasing them to their families?
You do realize a rock-solid fake ID is orders of magnitude easier than any disguise that could fool HER OWN CHILDREN?
Clearly a troll. If Enlightened Atheist were saying this in person, he/she wouldn't be able to get through saying this without collapsing into helpless giggles and gasps of "I had you going . . .I really had you going."
She didn't want to start this, and started out by following the rule. She went along with the ID silliness until they got unreasonable the day she didn't have it. Then after she left with her children they wouldn't even release the kids from the classroom until after she showed ID. They only did this to her, which shows they knew who she was, indicating that the ID thing was about compliance and submission. rather than establishing identity.
She got her kids away from a bunch of mini tyrants that were threatening to imprison her and rubs some covid in her face if she didn't do what they demanded, in perpetuity.
Sounds to me like she gained everything worth having from the situation. Why would she fight your cause? You're not fighting hers.
Yea i think we should all wear name tags with birthdate and next of kin and children listed and if we are felons and vaccinated and our political party. it would save a lot of time. note the tag should never ever state what sex we are. but if we forget out tags how about a chip that can be scanned automatically at every business or government building we enter. maybe have a scanner at home as well that updates the chip with latest vaccination or social wrong doing. it will make life so much easier. Obedience is so fulfilling and respectful of our fellow citizens, its quit patriotic to subject oneself to rules provided for our own benifit.
Yang for Mayor!
You left out credit rating and social merit score.
Everyone you interact with should know everything, except for your pronouns. They have to guess that and you can taser them if they get it wrong
You forgot about including a certain symbol to indicate that we are members of a certain disfavored ethnic/religious group.

"I dunno it’s stupid but a small thing..."
This is not at all surprising.
Imagine what kind of person wants to work for government. They like the security the State imparts, as well as the authority it bestows on its servants. Teachers especially, in my experience, like the womb of the all-powerful and knowing State. They are those who, after finally leaving the school system they had spent almost all of their lives in, chose to not leave but rather stay as part of the beast. Natural socialists.
The phrase 'public servant' has continued in widespread use, but has been turned upside down. The servants are the public.
All governments descend into tyranny because of assholes like those teachers and cops.
If only we could vote for a party that isn't unwavering in its support of the teachers and police unions. Vote Green 2024!
Humans are fucking the stupidest fucks sometimes. It’s no wonder the cartels savagely skin people alive and then torch them. Humans do shit that compels this behavior. I could totally see this escalating to a fight to the death if they were allowed to. It’s all because of group identity. We need to edit that out of the gene pool.
"part of the beast"
Great idea, and title, for a book if you are so inclined.
What my civil servant parents (schoolteacher, clerk for local government) told me 40+ years ago: You can earn more money in private business, but the job security is better and you can't beat the benefits. Decades of unionization have pumped-up wages to the point that long-term public employees do quite well for themselves. Of course, those "great benefits" have bankrupted some US municipalities. Idiot pols agreed to gold-plated retirement plans rather than larger pay increases in order to kick the compensation can down the road, and it blew up on them, or their successors.
soon you will have to show your vaccination papers to pick up your kids and people will comply since you already have to show your child is vaccinated to get them into school
I'd rather be safe from a deadly virus than have some esoteric "freedom".
Freedom is exoteric. It's an individual's ignorance that makes it seem esoteric.
Welcome to the zoo. Your cage is on the left
You would cheer as the government welds your doors and windows shut with you inside.
So, just to be clear, even a notary is not required to see an ID when they have personal knowledge of a person's identity, and verifying identity is the sole purpose of a notary. The fact that she was having to show ID to the same person day after day is clearly punishment, not following any sort of legal principle.
We all know this was a power play. People who are in charge love to take advantage of that authority - just like the return lady at Walmart can deny your return for any reason she wants. Treat her like shit, get escorted out. Humans need to be told what to do, if not, they’ll just keep taking and taking.
This 100%. The issue was not about showing ID. It was about an unaccountable bureaucrat exercising de facto arbitrary power. A power that could not really be countered by the person subject to it. It is a power that can't really be countered in the American system because the American legal system pretty much antedates administration/bureaucracy and therefore isn't structured to check/balance admin/bureaucracy.
Hayek talked about a possible solution as Rechtsstaat. Where that bureaucrat and their rule would be subject to a judiciary that is not deferential to administrators but to individual rights and constitutional restraints on administrators
Exactly. The lady wasn't breaking a law which could be found to be arbitrary and vague, but some bureaucrats policy. So they can harass her for months and then arrest her for disturbing the peace when she finally responds.
plus you can vote if your signature is a 40% match
i thought the argument was that they had to leave with an adult...... they were checking ID too? you need an ID to tell that the mom of an 11yr old calling her mom is an adult? how have we gotten this stupid. not letting the kids walk home was stupid enough, but this......
Part of the reason we have so many Karens is that society encourages people to behave like Karens. "You cannot let your kids walk home unescorted, you must show up at school and produce proper ID. Be with your kids at all times or else we're taking them from you."
My kids' elementary school was three blocks from our house and only residential streets. The school gave the neighborhood families three options, kids had to walk with an adult, take the bus (three or fewer blocks), or be dropped off by car (which was a clusterfsck because of all the mini-vans). Several of us went with option 3 and rolled up every morning with System of a Down, Metallica, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, or anything that got 'ole Tipper Gore's blood boiling playing loud enough to rattle the car windows. Took about two and half weeks before the school decided it was really healthy for the neighborhood kids to walk to and from school.
That’s what the lady shoulda done. Come in with a bloody ID or something. Maybe sneeze all over it and just leave chunks everywhere. Spray on some skunk cologne. Fight fire with fire.
Assault with bodily fluids? Bad idea.
I have a signed copy of "How to Raise PG Kids." Horrible family.
I favored "Hot for Teacher" or "Schools Out" in the pickup line, but it was never mandatory.
Perched an eight year old on the back of a motorcycle a few times too. Big dad points for that.
Geez. When the CPS makes their suddenly unexpected but inevitable visit, hope she doesn't have a dog. [/dark sarcasm in the classroom]
I’m just confused what “crime” she is committing by picking her kids up without an ID. I can understand if some stranger came in to pick them up they could suspect kidnappng or something, but are these students or prisoners?
None at all. The apparatchiki just want to fuck with her because she's not obeying them.
-jcr
My guess would be "intentionally interfering with a government employee or agent engaged in an official duty."
OR their favorite catch-all when they want to charge you with something but can't figure out what: "disorderly conduct."
This. Also disturbing the peace/breach of the peace. Covers anything from actual minor violence to I don't like your face.
Libertarian theorem A) Anyone should be allowed to sue any party for anything. No immunity. Never.
Libertarian theorem B) No school authorities have any right to limit any parents or students actions except in the strict confines of the process of classroom education-and even then the scope of their authority can be proscribed.
Libertarian theorem C) Taxpayers have a right to protect their assets from destruction and from seizure by private parties.
Libertarian Theory: Enact all of the above and we will enter the promised land and save ourselves from the pure hell we live in today.
Reality: Parent insists on the "right" of her children to walk home themselves and on her "right" to pick up her kids with no ID. Would probably insist she is the responsible party were anything to happen. Right up to the point where junior gets paralyzed for life after getting hit by a car or sissy gets dragged to Mexico by her crazy stepfather. It's about that time when the local ambulance chaser shows up and the school district (local taxpayers) are on the hook for, at least some, or possibly a vast amount of costs for their negligence.
Oops.
yeah, I can almost hear the judge: "So you're saying the school didn't check the ID of the person picking up the kids?"
You realize Mexico won't let you enter with a kid without both parents unless you have notarized permission or solid documentation that the missing parent is dead or in prison.
Why is it any business of the school if my kid is involved in a traffic accident after they have left?
Libertarian axiom overriding theorems A-D: Schools should be privatized.
I can't believe it took her this long to pull the kids out of that school.
yeah, should have been the first day
An anecdote from the 80's, for comparison:
When I was in high school (yeah, I know -- a little older than these kids), my school was about 20 miles from home, and I had to take a bus. I was once sent to the principal's office for (gasp) not having done a reading assignment. He deliberately made me sit in his office until the bus left, and then turned me loose. I ended up hitch-hiking on Interstate 95, and then again through another part of the trip. My parents found me when I was about a mile from home. They yelled at me for not having done the reading assignment.
My family moved in the middle of my senior year. I went from a 7-block walk to a 20-mile bus ride. There was a late bus, so I could stay for extra-curricular activities, but if an event, practice or rehearsal went on too long one of the parentals had to fetch me. OTOH, we used to give a girl I liked a ride home, and I got a prom date out of that. How stupid would it have been if my Dad had to show some document proving he was authorized to take my friend home? The sisters didn't bother. Our family had been choosing to send kids to that school since I was an infant.
The comment section absolutely sucks now, along with the stories.
Great job, leftist fvck twats
The bird posts by the bot are interesting.
90+ Most charming sunrise HD scenery
At sunrise, the many fires electrify, ethers, and subtler energies that emanate from the sun, extend to the earth and produce a flood effect on those coordinates, where the sun is said to rise. This effect is imposing.
The flood vitalizes and purifies everything in its path, destroying all that is impure.
This torrent of life-sustaining energies causes all living beings to rejoice.
This music can be heard at dawn. The morning Agnihotra Mantra is the essence of that music. It is the quintessential sound of that flood.
At sunset, that flood recedes.

Proposal.
School District, School, and teachers will be required to show a certificate of occupancy, health department report, City building inspectors report, teaching certificate of each instructor of the student, with valid ID to each student and/or parent at parents direction, every morning before the student "is allowed" to enter. In addition, any school transportation staff must show a valid driver's license with the proper certification before students may enter such transportation. If food is served on-premises, such premises must equal the minimal requirements of other foodservice provided to the public. Again, documentation must be available on demand.
In addition, all staff, employees, and contractors of the school and the district must have a criminal records check on file before students can enter the building. Reviewable at any time 24 hours a day 7 days a week at the request of a student or parent. Such records checks and documentation cannot be more than 6 months old.
Some people need to understand what a balancing act actually means. Maybe we should throw in teaching and employee reviews also. It's a PUBLIC school after all.
Papiere, bitte.
I've never suggested this before, but that school secretary should be doxxed. If this is how the left is going to fight, and if the government will back them wholeheartedly, then mob justice is really the only solution. The left has pushed too far for too long.
This action by the school and LEOs is deserving a violent response.
They are lucky she decided otherwise. Next parent may not
Yeah, this shit is why they don't let people have machine guns
Requiring that adults picking up children from school show an ID seems reasonable to me.
Requiring that adults picking up children from school show an ID seems reasonable to me.
You do realize that, up until about 10-15 years ago, this wasn't necessary, right? Kids either walked home from school by themselves, or mom or dad just showed up, picked them up, and said "how was your day?" without a sliver of interference from the desk jockey.
And in this instance, the mom was known by the secretary because her kids had been going there for three years already. Demanding an ID shouldn't have even been an option here.
I have kids in school and have for almost 20 years. Major metro area. Only time anyone has needed to show ID was when they were not the parent and were on the pre-approved "people who are allowed to pick up my child" list.
Or they were free to take the bus home with a friend sometimes.
And walking or riding a bike has been an option since kindergarten. It was just under a mile, just one street worthy of a red light.
This authentication crap is not normal.
Before the distance thing kicked in, they had been driving themselves the last few years
I think it's only been in the last 3-5 years when they started doing this stupid "pickup tag" that has a bar code where they match the kids with the adults.
If these teachers and administrators would actually bother knowing who their students' parents are, and if the parents were more involved in their kids education as a whole, this wouldn't be an issue. Late-stage Gen-Xers and Millennials really have turned into cotton-soft little bitches that feel like safety needs to be prioritized above everything else.
Why? Just why?
"The whole good cop/bad cop question can be disposed of much more decisively. We need not enumerate what proportion of cops appears to be good or listen to someone's anecdote about his Uncle Charlie, an allegedly good cop. We need only consider the following: (1) a cop's job is to enforce the laws, all of them; (2) many of the laws are manifestly unjust, and some are even cruel and wicked; (3) therefore every cop has agreed to act as an enforcer for laws that are manifestly unjust or even cruel and wicked. There are no good cops." ~Robert Higgs
“The great masses of men, though theoretically free, are seen to submit supinely to oppression and exploitation of a hundred abhorrent sorts. Have they no means of resistance? Obviously they have. The worst tyrant, even under democratic plutocracy, has but one throat to slit. The moment the majority decided to overthrow him he would be overthrown. But the majority lacks the resolution; it cannot imagine taking the risks.” ~ H. L. Mencken (1926). “Notes on Democracy,” p. 50, Alfred A. Knopf
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956
There is a grave problem :the secretary has a sickness
Depersonalization Disorder ? or can she recognizre herself in the mirror Agnosia ? what ever she needs URGENT medical help.
Prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness, means you cannot recognise people's faces.
Secretary needs URGENT medical help and another job
It's actually safer today than it was in my childhood, it's just that the news media broadcasts every report of a blond white girl that disappears, then spends years obsessively searching for her.
Score one for justice and sanity, zero for the tyrant pod.
This sort of "logic" is why MY kids will NEVER darken the door of any government run or funded instittution of learning, at any level. Main reason? These pervers think the chilfdren belong to THEM, and are THEIR responsibility.
SOrry (ackshuully not sorry one nanogramme) theree is Someone else who got there bvefore they did. His name is God. HE gave them to ME, not to them. Don't like thesound of that? Fine. Go take it up with Him. Let me know when you coinvince HIM to go along with your fraud.
My 21 year-old daughter worked as a waitress at a local pub for several years. One evening, I sat in her section and ordered a beer, to which she replied, "OK, Dad, I need to see your ID."
I thought she was kidding. It turns-out that the local liquor board had just decided that everybody needed to be carded...No exceptions. Even if the person being carded was the 21 year-old waitress's father.
Reason, for the love of all that’s holy, please discontinue comments. This thread should be profoundly embarrassing to everyone who reads it.
No, dipshit.
You should impale yourself for a stupid idea
Winston in Wonderland, your story reminds me of a time a few years ago when I was carded by a young waitress.
As I handed her my my ID, I asked, "Am I older or younger than your father?"
She replied, "Just a couple years younger."
Was she cute?
That sounds like an opening line there.
It does sound like it, doesn't it?
And I was alone at the time.
Fortunately, I must appear both innocent and married -- which are accurate -- so she did not take it as a come on.
But I am certain that if the school allowed a kid to be picked up by a child molester they would have been sued for hundreds of millions of dollars. Ms. Skenazy would have gladly served as an expert witness for the prosecution, testifying, "Why did they let a random adult pick up a kid without requiring some form of identification?"
You obviously don't know Lenore at all. Fuck you for smearing her.

But can they depart the bus into the clutch of a pedophile? Yes! No ID required for that.
Crazy stuff
Do parents or qualified adults need an ID for kids to get off the bus at whatever stop the bus driver allows them to depart? No! Of course not.
What sewer of administrative bull shit.
Well done your article. In your opinion, we all got to learn something or something. Give us some help too. Thank you.WordsEra
I wonder what the school would have done if Mom came and checked her kids out and then let them walk home.
