Black Civilians Arm Themselves To Protest Racial Violence and Protect Black-Owned Businesses

They're using their Second Amendment rights to protect local businesses from riots and looting.

|

In the wake of the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, armed black activists have stepped up as the city endures protests, riots, and looting.

A video of a group of armed black residents in St. Paul went viral on Thursday. The video shows armed black men standing in front of a store. The person who is recording says that the business they're protecting is black-owned. A black gunman can be seen in the background of another video featuring civilians protecting a store.

The armed civilians aren't just protecting property. They're also using their Second Amendment rights to bolster their First Amendment right to protest.

A man who calls himself The Official Grand Master Jay (it's unclear whether this is a nickname or just a social media handle) leads a group called the Not Fucking Around Coalition (NFAC), a black group that he says is compromised of "ex military shooters," and he's been using his social media accounts to showcase his group's armed protests in the wake of Floyd's death. NFAC previously gathered in the Georgia neighborhood where Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed by two white residents while unarmed and out jogging.

In a clip from one of his livestreamed discussions, The Official Grand Master Jay touted the power of armed protests by speaking about an encounter with officers that ended peacefully.

Other armed protesters have recently made headlines for defending their beliefs. After protesters advocating for the reopening of the economy following COVID-19 lockdowns swarmed the Michigan Capitol, a group of concerned black residents organized the armed escort of black state legislator Sarah Anthony in response. Several in the group carried rifles as they walked her safely to the building.

The arrival of militia members and armed private citizens is to be expected in cities where there is intense fallout from fatal use-of-force incidents. Black activists, some inspired by the likes of Malcolm X and the Black Panthers, are using their guns to remind the public that they, too, have a voice.

    2. It’s not just that they’re buying guns, it’s that they’re taking personal responsibility for themselves. Everybody knows black people are helpless cildren unable to take care of themselves, this is why they’re taught that it’s foolish for them to get an education or a job or start a business or work hard to try to get ahead – that’s “acting white” and as well as it’s worked for white people trying to better themselves, black people are simply not as capable of taking advantage of their opportunities as white people are. It’s much better for black people to accept the limitations of their race and let kind-hearted white liberals take care of them, make their decisions for them, trust them to know better what’s for their own good than they do themselves.

      1. How can black people succeed in America when there is the ever present ether of RACISM that prevents them from advancing. This isn’t the simple prejudice that was experienced by the Irish, Italians, and Jews when they came to America. This is RACISM and without the federal government to move the Sun and the Earth, RACISM will never be conquered. Also, if you acting white, you ain’t black.

  2. And, once again, Reason leaps to the wrong side of an issue–

Defending her beliefs? HER beliefs, Really?

    From the linked article–
Despite the armed escort, Anthony said she was “actively working to prohibit open carry” of firearms in the state capitol, which is currently legal.

HER belief is that she should be protected with guns, but not YOU.

    1. Some niggas are more equal than crackas….

    2. Armed ‘protesters’ ‘swarmed’ the capitol, but the armed ‘black’ people were ‘concerned residents’ who formed an ‘escort.’

Talk about wearing it on your sleeve.

  3. Black militias are guarding black owned businesses with automatic rifles

    I’m assuming semi-automatic.

    1. And black.

      1. BNBG

    2. Oh whatever, the scary-looking kind.

      1. The black people or the black guns?

    3. Do they guard Hispanic owned businesses? What about Asian owned businesses? White owned businesses? Imagine if a white militia surrounded a white owned bar under the premise of warding off “looters”. CNN would be there in under 30 minutes to live stream the hate rally.

      1. “What about Asian owned businesses?”

They help loot and burn them.

      2. “What about Asian owned businesses?” They use Master Ip’s students.

      3. Not sure if armed or not but a group of black guys protected a white cop in Louisville, KY the other night.

        1. I guess it’s true cuz you said it…

    4. Nothing says it can’t be an NFA item. Not sure I’d want to risk it when MSP has been illegally disarming open carrying people during these riots, but it’s a free country.

      1. Not for long.
What possible justification do rioters have for tearing up Atlanta and trying to storm the Whitehouse?
        None.
        But they have their orders.

These riots are a declaration of open war against all non-leftists

        1. It is amazing that BLM shows up right as the lockdowns were starting to lose steam, and state economies were beginning to get back on track. Despite my previous posts about there usually being no conspiracies in life, someone is funding these widely distant protests. Paying for the lawyers, bondsmen. Paying for housing, meals, gas for some of the professional protesters.

I’m staying well away from anything that even sounds like it might be a protest. Hopefully that will be enough. I don’t think this tool is going away for the Left anytime soon.

The irony is that this kind of rioting couldn’t be more helpful for Trump’s chances in November if he tried.

          1. It seemed pretty obvious when violent protest broke out across the country — and CNN tells me when and where protests are scheduled.

You don’t schedule a spontaneous protest that breaks out due to outrage over an incident.

And you don’t schedule a protest in a city with a black mayor and a black police chief that has had black mayors and black chiefs of police for 40 years because there is inherent local outrage because of racist police and a racist leadership. And you certainly don’t schedule genuine protests *after* the issue of “arrest and prosecute” has been mostly settled. At that point, what are you even protesting? Have you bothered to form a coherent thought?

It certainly makes one suspicious that these are long-planned (or at least hoped-for) protests designed not for initiating criminal justice reform, but for purposes of fomenting racial animus.

A goal which they would oddly share with the newsroom editors from the New York Times. A group who announced almost a year ago that their strategy of using Russia to bring Trump down had failed, and they would find another strategy, to be announced soon. That strategy? Push the race angle. Thus was born the 1619 project.

So, they called their shot. They said they were going to push racism. Several associated groups got on board and publicly espoused the same strategy. And yet we are supposed to find all of this activity to be unrelated?

        2. Nice. Haven’t seen one of these jokes in a while. Let me try one.

You might be in a white supremacist cult if…
You think rioting over cops killing black people with impunity is a declaration of war against you.

You realize you totally outed yourself, right?

          1. Hey everyone, it’s Lying Jeffy being a Useful Idiot!

            1. He’s actually PEDO Jeffy. Never forget that he is simultaneously pro child predator while being pro illegal alien. By his own admission, he favors letting pedophiles from other countries enter the US without restriction.. which makes one wonder if Jeffy himself lusts for young boyflesh. The way Original Buttplug does.

              1. I like that xer has multiple derogatory nicknames that reflect all its bad character traits. I prefer Lying Jeffy because it lies all the time. You prefer pedo Jeffy because it supports pedophilia in a specific way. Baby Jeffrey is another good one because it cries a lot.

            2. He’s not that useful.

          2. Hey Lying Jeffy, why do you think all the people arrested in Minneapolis last night were from out of state?

            1. Wow, I didn’t see that, R Mac.

All of the arrests in MSP were of out of state people? Hilarious.

OK, if that’s true, figure out how they got there, who’s paying them, feeding them, etc…

              1. Per the police chief of Detroit, 3/4 of people arrested there were from out of state.

                1. And… debunked…

          3. Nice race-baiting, espresso.
The employers of murderous cops thank you for your aid

          4. “You might be in a white supremacist cult if…
You think rioting over cops killing black people with impunity is a declaration of war against you.”

While the peaceful protests, and perhaps the initial rioting in MI, were about George Floyd, the rioting/looting is no longer about that, nor is it about police brutality in general. The valid anger over the incident has been co-opted by progressivist instigators. That antifa-style provocation of violence, and not the peaceful protests or the understandable anguish and anger motivating them, is what could be figuratively described as a “declaration of open war against all non-leftists”.

Nobody was “outed”. At worst and in context, Nardz’s assertion could reasonably be construed as hyperbole.

      2. What’s interesting is half of what’s shown is illegal in most Democrat states, or on the Democrat scary guns list. AK-47 pistol. AR-15 with 100rd magazine. I like their choice in firearms. Also interesting, Minnesota prohibits open carry without a license. And these men are showing why carry should not require a license.

    5. Automatic in civilian shorthand is semiauto or autoloading (magazine fed one shot per pull of trigger without manual reloading).

Automatic in military/police usage is fullauto ( magazine fed multiple shots per pull of trigger). Aka machine guns.

News media and gun control advocates ( yes I am repeating) gleefully conflate the two in pitching fear of guns to the sheeple who think gun bans are gonna work any better than bans on alcohol or marijuana failed.

      1. “Automatic in civilian shorthand is semiauto or autoloading (magazine fed one shot per pull of trigger without manual reloading).”

I agree that this is often the case, but it must be challenged and treated as an educational opportunity every time it comes up. The distinction matters to the broader discussion, in particular for those wanting to vigorously defend 2A rights. There are many such problems in terminology, such as the frequent description of the .223/5.56mm rifle cartridge as “high powered”. The media and gun control advocates, wittingly or not (but, yeah, mostly wittingly IMO), use inexact or incorrect terminology to conflate concepts and issues to their advantage. Advocates for 2A rights need to address such dishonesty (or ignorance) diligently and at every turn.

  4. >>Black activists … are using their guns to remind the public that they, too, have a voice.

    Ice Cube.

    1. He didn’t even have to use his AK. Today was a good day.

    2. In related news, you can now get property in Chicago basically for free, since that will pretty much be the straw that broke the camel’s back for any sane person still living there.

Chicago: Home of Completely Unrestrained Race Riots!

      1. Especially in Jussie Smollett’s neighborhood, where gangs of MAGA run wild putting nooses around people’s necks at random.

        1. That was crazy, huh.
Who knew that Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood wasn’t just an affluent homosexual district, but also a hotspot for poor, white rednecks who’re keen on Orange Hitler.

          1. Ta nehisi Coates knew. White supremacy is the very air we breath.

        2. Funny that Jesse smollett left such an impression on you, but george floyd doesn’t rate.

You don’t have to wear a white hood to be an obvious racist.

          1. Who the fuck said he doesn’t rate? That’s right, no one said that. You just like to lie, because you’re a dishonest piece of shit.

            1. Even the police are on board with this one.

Which is why “protests” breaking out everywhere is suspicious. Who exactly are they supposedly protesting to? Who are they protesting against?

They attacked the police in Atlanta. Atlanta has had a black mayor since long before any of the rioters there were born. They have had black police chiefs and a black police force. So…. racist?

Something tells me that the “rage” in this case is largely built up from the lockdown, and the impetus is not “reform” but is more properly identified as “partisan political maneuvering”.

If any of this was serious, they would have been with us through dozens and dozens of equally egregious incidents. But they weren’t. They’ve just been pushing “racism” as a narrative…. because it lets them point fingers and it is impervious to any solution.

              1. Don’t think it was the lockdown.
I think half, if not the majority, of “protesters” wouldve been screeching about how selfish people are for wanting haircuts and how we can’t come out until there’s a vaccine for the plague just a week ago.
The leftists started these fires and their useful idiots keep jumping in

                1. I think the lockdown did play a part. It made it easier for the pros to get local people raging and give them cover for their arson

          2. Wow. Responding to a reference about Chicago, and I didn’t reference George Floyd? Who was killed in Minneapolis?

I don’t need to see your IQ tests to know you’re a fucking moron.

          3. Pedo Jeffy, kill yourself. Your life has no value and no one could ever love you.

            1. Can you imagine knowing him irl? Bet people hold on to their wallet when Lying Jeffy is around.

          4. your “whataboutisms” are getting tiresome.

  6. Malcom X and the Black Panthers were right. We need Black Nationalism to create a state for black people to be with their own and avoid racist police. Diversity and inclusion are only good for white communities.

      The Chief, in Undercover Brother

      1. I’m more of a Hebrew Hammer movie type of goy.

      2. One of my all time favorites

    2. So just where is this State going to be? I mean, American Blacks are not welcome in Africa unless they are famous or have money. Why? Because they do not belong to any tribes there. They are Americans. I see this as problematic anyway. Where I live there are lots of interracial marriages as a whole generation of Middle Class and Working Class marry. Yep, this is not a racial issue but one of Class.

  7. Good on ’em.

I hope the publicity of this strengthens 2nd amendment advocacy groups. Conversely, I hope it doesn’t turn a bunch of otherwise ambivalent voters into fearful gun-control advocates.

    1. Cops are entirely too jumpy when “black people” and “guns” appear anywhere near together.

HERE is some food for thought! Let’s immunize the cops against the oh-so-frightening idea of seeing black people ANYWHERE near guns!

    2. Take the Amy Coopers of the world. Democratic voting, Hillary loving, unleashed dog walking “I swear I’m not a racist” type of people.

What do you think they would do if they saw an African American man (who they would probably call a nigger) “threatening her life” with a gun?

A bird watcher made her call the police in a fit, pretending she was getting murdered.

The Amy Coopers are going to louder than anybody on the fence about guns.

This is going to go in the exact opposite direction.

      1. “What do you think they would do if they saw an African American man (who they would probably call a nigger) “threatening her life” with a gun? ”

I don’t know, don’t really care either. People should be able to exercise their natural rights without infringement, regardless of the ranting and ravings of lunatics like Amy Cooper.

      2. Someone should make a documentry called Two Karens in a Park.

        1. The only salient analysis.

      3. The bird watcher was as much of a jerk as she was. And that had nothing to do with race and everything with being entitled progressives

        1. Unless maybe, he thought, “Here’s an unaccompanied white woman I can intimidate.”

        2. “The bird watcher was as much of a jerk as she was.”

In what way? Expecting people to OBEY THE RULES on public property, when the rules are totally sensible? I do NOT want to step in YOUR dog’s poop, or have plantings destroyed, and birds eaten, by YOUR carnivorous pet, on public property, Oh Arrogant One!

          1. But, in this case, a lot of dog owners were breaking the rules because the dog parks had been closed.

            1. So this lady… WHY wasn’t she able to keep her dog on a leash? And then WHY wasn’t she able to CONTROL HER IMPULSES to rat-fink on a black man, and threaten to have said harmless black man KILLED by trigger-happy cops? Black man DARED to criticize ME for disobeying the rules and regulations… Proportionate response is to call in Government Almighty, to kill this uppity black man?

Because we all know, none less than Der TrumpfenFuhrer has BLESSED the idea that un-Americans should “go back to where they came from”, right?

              https://www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/2020/05/28/george-floyd-minnesota-steve-almond Racism in America today…

Karen has the perfection of Karen questioned… Proper response is to have cops come and kill the dark-skinned one! This is how dark-skinned ones see it… For DARNED good reasons!

              1. So, what rules should be followed?

I mean, you oppose border security and all…but seem peachy keen with these rules.

Does it need to be pointless to get your support?

                1. “Does it need to be pointless to get your support?”

Do you like to wade through other people’s doggy-poop when walking in the park? Do you think it is a GOOD thing when unleashed dogs upset wildlife in the park? Some people come to see the WILDLIFE, not your dog-poop, you know! I personally once had to rescue a fawn from some idiot’s giant unleashed dog once, so I am not just bullshitting here… Then there’s also PLANTS that are planted in parks, that need protection from unleashed stupid-dogs as well.

Yes, I am willing to disobey stupid laws! Anti-Jewish laws? I’d hope to have the courage to shelter some Jews! Anti-illegal-humans laws are quite a bit similar.

“Leash your dogs” in public places laws do NOT fall into the stupid category!

                  1. “Do you like to wade through other people’s doggy-poop when walking in the park?”

Freedom is based on what I like? That sounds ominous.

“Do you think it is a GOOD thing when unleashed dogs upset wildlife in the park?”

Should man interfere in nature or not?

“Some people come to see the WILDLIFE, not your dog-poop, you know!”

Good for them. There’s plenty of things people do that I don’t much like but freedom is a wee bit more important than what I like or do not like.

“I personally once had to rescue a fawn from some idiot’s giant unleashed dog once, so I am not just bullshitting here… Then there’s also PLANTS that are planted in parks, that need protection from unleashed stupid-dogs as well.”

Nature isn’t always friendly. Fawns are killed by plenty of animals. Plants are damaged by plenty of animals.

                    1. “Nature isn’t always friendly. Fawns are killed by plenty of animals. Plants are damaged by plenty of animals.”

New male-lion boss kills the smaller lion babies (that he can kill)… Kills the babies that were fathered by previous male lion(s). In humans, if you study the stats, lethal child abuse by NON-bio-father males in households (statistically) CLEARLY exceeds lethal child abuse by bio-dads. “Just following nature” OK with you? You’re on the jury, you gonna let non-bio-dad SLIDE for this? “Natural” not= “right”!

Domestic pets kill most of our wild species? THAT does NOT bode well for our future!

The voters out-voted you on letting your dog loose in the park to endanger others, and public property. Deal with it! I am with the voters on this one!

                    2. “New male-lion boss kills the smaller lion babies (that he can kill)… Kills the babies that were fathered by previous male lion(s). In humans, if you study the stats, lethal child abuse by NON-bio-father males in households (statistically) CLEARLY exceeds lethal child abuse by bio-dads. “Just following nature” OK with you? You’re on the jury, you gonna let non-bio-dad SLIDE for this? “Natural” not= “right”!”

Are you arguing that animals deserve rights? I have never argued that because it seems like, quite possibly, the dumbest idea in recorded history.

No, I don’t expect a lion to behave as a human. I have higher expectations for humans than I do for animals. Should I go out kill and a lion who killed its baby?

“Domestic pets kill most of our wild species? THAT does NOT bode well for our future!”

A falsity and I just don’t have the desire to argue hypotheticals that are not based on any semblance of reality.

“The voters out-voted you on letting your dog loose in the park to endanger others, and public property. Deal with it! I am with the voters on this one!”

So, rights are based on the popular vote now? You probably would not like where that goes. There’s a reason why we are not a democracy.

But good to know that you favor allowing others to determine what your rights are and are not based on what they find irritating. That could never end up being a bad idea.

                    3. Rights, in the real world, not in the world we desire, are based on who has more guns, more force, more power. The public has the police and the military to back up its will, via force. Ideally, we would obey our CONSCIENCE, which tells us to treat each other the way I like to be treated! I don’t want my wildlife decimated, or my arm bitten by, loose dogs, so I leash my dog! (Dog poops stinks as well). It is hardly worth calling the cops over, unless it gets really-really bad… Which it DOES do, from time to time! People killed by vicious dogs! Who are ALWAYS SUCH GOOD DOGS in the views of their owners!

You were arguing “natural” = “right”, and you know it! It is “natural” for your over-fed, artificially housed, and medicated dog… NOT a wild wolf, subject to the laws of tooth and claw, and natural balances between predator and prey species… To run roughshod over the wildlife? On public land? THAT is how you think YOU want YOUR wildlife treated? Can I sic my domesticated lion or tiger on your dog, when this happens? Go ye and convince 51% of the voters! I am glad that voters have cops and soldiers to rein in crazy people, is all I have to say to that one! I wish we didn’t have to use force and violence to restrain crazy people who will NOT voluntarily obey their consciences, but… Till we come up with some better solution… It’s the best we have!

Leash your dog when that’s the law! It’s not NAZIs on Jews, and it’s not asking that much!

                    4. “A falsity and I just don’t have the desire to argue hypotheticals that are not based on any semblance of reality.”

                      Bullshit, total bullshit!

                      Cats Are Ruthless Killers
Domestic cats kill between 1.4 and 3.7 billion birds and between 6.9 and 20.7 billion mammals (mostly mice, shrews, rabbits, squirrels, and voles) each year, according to a study published last year in Nature Communications.Dec 17, 2014

Dogs do similar things, but I doubt that real stats from the real world are making much of an impact on your “confirmation biased” mind here… I’m OK with cats killing rats and mice around my house… But they DO kill lots of wild birds, whose numbers are going down! And I love kitties, but those little boogers! Domestic cats don’t even NEED to catch birds to eat, they are already over-fed!

                    5. “You were arguing “natural” = “right”, and you know it! It is “natural” for your over-fed, artificially housed, and medicated dog”

I don’t own dogs and cannot stand the damned things, honestly. It’d be best for ME if no dogs existed since their barking is beyond annoying. It is natural for dogs to bark, noise I do not much care for, yet I don’t call the cops.

So, do you REALLY want rights to be controlled what I do and do not like? Mind you, I personally wouldn’t want that.

“To run roughshod over the wildlife? On public land? THAT is how you think YOU want YOUR wildlife treated?”

Wildlife isn’t owned. By definition. So, why should I give the smallest iota of a shit if one animal eats another? That’s called nature. It’s a fight not worth fighting. If a fawn is eaten by a dog or a bear, it is still eaten and it has zero impact on my life one way or the other.

“Can I sic my domesticated lion or tiger on your dog, when this happens?”

                      Sure.

Moment it crosses my property line, I will kill it with zero qualms. You may think your doggie is adorable but I find it to be a nuisance at best and once it crosses onto my land, well, you should’ve controlled it a lot better and maybe you’ll learn for the next time.

“Leash your dog when that’s the law! It’s not NAZIs on Jews, and it’s not asking that much!”

So, if your dog barks at night once and wakes me up…may I kill it? Shutting your mutt up isn’t too much to ask, is it?

                    6. “Cats Are Ruthless Killers
Domestic cats kill between 1.4 and 3.7 billion birds and between 6.9 and 20.7 billion mammals (mostly mice, shrews, rabbits, squirrels, and voles) each year, according to a study published last year in Nature Communications.Dec 17, 2014”

Your claim was that pets kill MOST of “our” wild species (again, WE have no wild species. If we did, they’d be domesticated). Do you wish to discuss how many birds exist? I don’t have an exact number, but I’m guessing far higher than 7.5M.

Same with the small rodents. I’m not the one claiming that pets kill MOST of them. They kill a percentage…c’est la vie. Animals kill animals. It’s not MY concern.

“Dogs do similar things, but I doubt that real stats from the real world are making much of an impact on your “confirmation biased” mind here… I’m OK with cats killing rats and mice around my house… But they DO kill lots of wild birds, whose numbers are going down! And I love kitties, but those little boogers! Domestic cats don’t even NEED to catch birds to eat, they are already over-fed!”

Ahhh…so animals you LIKE are OK.

Cats are also irritating and frequently smelly. Don’t much care for them, either. But if cats eat squirrels…why am I supposed to feel anything? Ditto birds?

They. Aren’t. My. Concern. And just because you think birds are pretty hardly makes it worth any legal recognition.

                    7. “But good to know that you favor allowing others to determine what your rights are and are not based on what they find irritating. That could never end up being a bad idea.”

Let’s vote on sqrlsy posting comments.
I vote against his doing so

                    8. For you, I checked. There are about 10 BILLION birds, total, in the USA in the spring and 20 BILLION in the fall.

                      https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2011/03/how-many-birds/

That up to 3.7B killed by cats and dogs it’s even close to half, much less “most”

                    9. When species diversity is down to just humans and their pets and food animals, and no wildlife… You REALLY think that’s a sustainable way of life? Is this a “libertarian” attitude? There IS a public human interest, a COLLECTIVE one, even, in species diversity and a sustainable biosphere on planet Earth! I am glad that SOME libertarians have some common sense!

Also, Damned-and-Sick, you use straw-men something God-awful, saying that I want to go protect baby lions from non-bio-father lions, when you know DAMNED WELL I was just illustrating that you are WRONG about “natural = morally and ethically right”! You are arguing in bad faith, because you have a monstrously large ego! It is about YOU proving that YOU are smarter or better than the others, NOT about having a rational discussion! Or learning ANYTHING, because YOU know it ALL already! This is “little e” moving towards “big E” Evil, as M. Scott Peck would call it! Read and head, for the sake of your own soul! M. Scott Peck, the People of the Lie … https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0684848597/reasonmagazinea-20/

Nadless Nardz the NAZI is beyond hope, not even worth talking to…

                    10. “When species diversity is down to just humans and their pets and food animals, and no wildlife… You REALLY think that’s a sustainable way of life?”

Again, hypotheticals with zero basis in reality just aren’t terribly interesting. Why not argue “What would you do if the gulf stream stops?” There is no factual basis to your complaint.

“Also, Damned-and-Sick, you use straw-men something God-awful, saying that I want to go protect baby lions from non-bio-father lions, when you know DAMNED WELL I was just illustrating that you are WRONG about “natural = morally and ethically right”!”

Who would actually proscribe ethical motivations to animals? They are incapable of the concept. I do not EXPECT animals to behave morally or ethically. They are lower life forms than humanity and I have lowered expectations of them.

“ou are arguing in bad faith, because you have a monstrously large ego! It is about YOU proving that YOU are smarter or better than the others”

This is some impressive pot-kettle stuff going on here.

“This is “little e” moving towards “big E” Evil, as M. Scott Peck would call it! Read and head, for the sake of your own soul!”

Well, I can take my win over you with some semblance of dignity. So, I will stop this discourse as you are just being a bit of a melodramatic cunt here.

                    11. “Who would actually proscribe ethical motivations to animals? They are incapable of the concept. I do not EXPECT animals to behave morally or ethically. They are lower life forms than humanity and I have lowered expectations of them.”

Sociobiology would beg to differ! Higher animals DO do right and wrong things, and even deceive each other, etc.! Study sociobiology, and you will see that we are animals, on the high end of the animals spectrum. If you were a dog owner, you would know that spanking the dog (not overdoing it) can sometimes work, when the dog has done a wrong thing. Even a paramecium will retreat from pain! Even a chimp can be made to understand that it inflicted pain on another being, and will need to suffer for it, till it learns. (The other chimps aren’t very nice to chimps who are assholes all day long, a lesson that I wish some humans would learn).

Hypotheticals are a time-honored way of seeing where we get to, logically, if we keep on doing what we’re doing! Encouraging people to let their dogs off the leash, to run rampant on people and species diversity, leads to BAD things! Using strawmen to “prove” your mental, spiritual, and intellectual superiority over others? That doesn’t lead to good things either! I hope that you can LEARN these kinds of things!

      4. Take the Amy Coopers of the world … an African American man (who they would probably call a nigger)

        WTF?

        1. She had no problem calling the cops claiming a male Karen was threatening her life. I don’t buy her as being legitimately non-racist.

      5. But, but, but, don’t you want to believe Amy?
        Women don’t lie. Right?

      6. Actually Amy Cooper was reacting to a not very veiled threat. The black man bragged about it on Facebook. Read the whole story at National Review.

    3. This, what Farnham said. Colion Noir doesn’t have to be the only black guy talking eloquently about gun rights.

Good for these people. I hope they don’t have to use, or threaten to use, their lawfully owned arms.

    4. It did the first time around.

  8. Bring on the race war!

Because civil rights are obviously contingent on race. You need black militias. And white militias. And brown militias.

    And a civil war.

    1. Me and the Shomrim finna bust a cap in your ass!

    2. “Bring on the race war!”

Laughing your stupid ass off yet, asshole? Have I sunk to YOUR level of stupid, yet?

          1. “Laughing your stupid ass off yet, asshole?”

Nope. But the jokes on you. Wasn’t gonna be funny either way.

            1. It’s a shame he’s not dead, isn’t it?

              1. Every court needs a jester.

      2. You’d think Dems hadn’t run Minneapolis for over 40 yrs straight or something…

        1. Note: The last time a Republican was mayor of Minneapolis was for 2 days in 1973-4.

Atlanta hasn’t had a Republican mayor since the 19th Century.

CLEARLY, what is needed to fix this…is voting Democrat more.

    3. Nothing about Asian militias? Wacist!

      1. Dumb, getting dumber… Submerging us all in dumbness! Call a plumber, dumber one!

        1. Now this makes me laugh.

        2. I, personally, would be too embarrassed to post this, SQRSLY, and ALSO post this:

“It is about YOU proving that YOU are smarter or better than the others, NOT about having a rational discussion! Or learning ANYTHING, because YOU know it ALL already!”

          1. “Dumb” in the words of our esteemed scholar, R Mac!

            1. You would drink Drano. Try it, and report back with the results.

              1. Try growing a brain!

  9. Meanwhile every democrat running is opposed to anyone owning firearms. They cheer on the riots looting and burning aka peaceful protests but if you own a gun you’re a white racist. Even if you’re black.

Yes that is the logic of the left.

    1. Why can’t you just admit that you are racist and bow before the Almighty Power of the State?

      1. “…bow before the Almighty Power of the State?”

          1. Also dumb.

        2. Get off of your ass! Your literary skills are a GOLD MINE!!! Get going NOW!!!

Do you recall the awesome enchanter named “Tim”, in “Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail”? The one who could “summon fire without flint or tinder”? Well, you remind me of Tim… You are an enchanter who can summon persuasion without facts or logic!

So I discussed your awesome talents with some dear personal friends on the Reason staff… Accordingly…

Reason staff has asked me to convey the following message to you:

      2. The state which is decidedly not racist.

  10. I’m not sure how many in the NFAC have military experience but it’s very clear that “The Official Grand Master Jay” has none. Anyone who actually served knows the difference between ex-military and former-military. And the kind of people who volunteer to protect their communities will not be in the first group.

    1. Oh Wise One, PLEASE illuminate us all, and tell us… WHAT is the difference between “ex-military and former-military”. Is it like the difference between those of us who USED to be able to write coherently and plainly, and those of us who ONCE UPON A TIME were able to write coherently and plainly?

      1. “those of us who USED to be able to write coherently”

        This never applied to you.

        1. Hi R Whack,

I really, REALLY feel for ya, bro or bro-ess!

To make up for my CLEARLY egregious offenses against you, I am willing to sing you a long-dong-song; a sing-along song:

          Cootchy-cootchy-cooo, Buckaroo!
Don’t be sad and blue, Buckaroo!
          Sweet Little Thang, say “Goo-goo-gah-hah”;
          CAN ye, PLEASE, for Mama-Dadda-Ba-Ba?
Put on a Happy-Baby smile, for a LITTLE while!
          Fend OFF my tears-of-the-Great-Crocodile!

(If’n it ain’t enough, if ye will give me yer address… Did yer Mamma teach you that item yet? … Then I will PERSONALLY drive over to Your Happy House, and deliver a consolation warmed-up ba-ba to ya!)

Now, I have NO “deep pockets” and I hate to bring this up, for fear of too-deeply “tapping” the pockets of Reason.com…

But… IF by any chance, my generous offer is NOT enough to assuage your DEEPLY offended feelings… And maybe you are seriously contemplating some SERIOUSLY destructive vengeance, such as Holding Your Breath till such time as the Very World Itself implodes… Then I Truly Beseech Ye, don’t DO that! Not quite yet! First, send an email to Reasdon.com… I have written a draft for YE:

          To: SQRLSY_One_Has_Hurt_My_Deepest_Feelings@Reason.com

Reason! SQRLSY One has HURT MEEE, Deeply! SQRLSY One has offered to sing ME some stupid, hurtful sing-along, ding-a-dong song, and to bring ME a warmed-up ba-ba, but it is NOT enough to make even the TINIEST dent in MY DEEPLY Hurt Feelings!

Accordingly (with the writing-assistance of MY attorney), please be advised that the hurtful statements of SQRLSY One has caused ME to require, for MY “medically required” recovery:

          ’20 hours of self-esteem therapy

          ’32 hours of crystal-healing therapy

          ’34 hours of aromatherapy

          ’15 hours of therapy-therapy

          ’17 hours of Government-Almighty-Loves-MEEE-therapy

‘As-yet-to-be-determined XYZ hours of Repairing MY Hurt Baby Feelings Therapy!

That comes up to around-about $137,538.27! So PAY UP, or else!

          Yours Truly,
A Truly and Deeply Hurt, Long-Suffering VICTIM!!!

          1. Fuckin’ LOL at how one innocuous comment resulted in the shit-muncher belching out a Hihn-like sperg-rage.

            1. He’s approaching the gamboling Buffalo guy for sheer vomit in the comments.

              1. What was the guys name who’d take all the hallucinogens and post here all night?

                1. Yeah, I remember that guy.

Three word handle. Damned if I can remember more. Professor S-something or other?

                  1. Agile Cyborg! I miss that lunatic! He was creative!

                    1. Not the guy I was thinking of, but Agile Cyborg is probably who Sidd was referring to.

                    2. yea

                    3. Hercule Savoinen, or something like that, was who I was thinking of. He just sounded like he was on drugs most of the time.

          2. “…shit-muncher…”

Citations please! Did you “read” my life with your tin-foil hat? Or did the Zorstmastrian Intergalactic Space Aliens tell you that? I’m a shit-muncher as much as you are an Evil-One worshipping corpse-juice-with-maggots gargler, as far as anyone knows here, by reading the comments! Unless you have a CITE, lying servant of the Evil One?

            1. Dumbfuck HihnSQRLSo continues to tard-rage.

            2. Say hi to the Trump in your head for me, retard.

    2. “the difference between ex-military and former-military.”

Thought that was a turn of phrase that only the Marines really got autistic about? (And I still can’t remember which one means they used to be in the service, and which one means—to them—that they got kicked out.)

      1. Marines will take you to blows over it but all of us honor the convention.

And to your question, ex-military were kicked out. Former-military left the service honorably.

        1. Thanks! That was really helpful. Ex is the bad one. I can keep that straight. I had no idea the other services got pissy about it as well. (Marines get crazy about so many of their little rituals…)

          Ignorance fought.

As to the article, I’ve long given up expecting any wisdom about violence, law, geopolitics, or just convincing people to do what you want them to do, solely because the author used to be in the military.

  11. Maybe the Sicilian business owners can put up signs reading

    Minority
    Owned
    Business

    …if you get my meaning.

    1. Sicilian business owners are… ??? A MOB of kangaroos?

    2. Nice elbows and knees ya got there, buddy…

It would be a DAMNED shame if something happened to them!

  12. unarmed and out jogging.

    LOL

  13. I’m fine with this sort of voluntary responsibility. Protect your own against violence.

What I dislike is what I’m seeing implied in certain cases, “No, don’t burn that place, it’s by Black-owned!” As if it’s okay to burn any innocent business down as long as the person who owns it isn’t black. It’s almost like people are intentionally driving racial division, when the focus should be on “police” and “victims.”

    1. THANK YOU, A Thinking Mind!!! I was kinda thinking the same thing… Are we not all humans here?

Trump hasn’t been doing us any favors along these lines, with is strategic picking of politically advantageous scapegoats!

      https://www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/2020/05/28/george-floyd-minnesota-steve-almond Racism in America today…

    2. “It’s almost like people are intentionally driving racial division”

A certain former president, for example

      1. Trump is fear tweeting about how the secret service are going to shoot white house protestors and sick dogs on them. Yesterday he retweeted a message endorsing the killing of Americans based on their voting habits, and yet you somehow managed to make this about obama.

You guys are getting increasingly desperate, almost like it’s undeniable that your cult leader has no moral authority and has grossly overplayed and overstated his legal authority as well.

        1. Did you plagiarize that from cnn or something? Because its completely disconnected from anything trump actually tweeted.

The reason no one takes you seriously isnt because they’re afraid to debate you. It’s because there’s no point in taking someone who continuously fabricates and distorts other peoples ideas seriously.

  14. “Experts” confirm that rioting and violence are sometimes necessary to bring about change –

    https://abcnews.go.com/US/massive-eruption-minneapolis-protests-drive-change-experts/story?id=70924118

    1. Funny how this stuff has been happening off and on for well over 50 years, yet nothing has really changed except for an exponential increase in white liberal self-loathing.

      1. Except it’s not really self-loathing.
It’s the rich, white, liberal clerisy protecting their class interests by waging a proxy war against the white, working class. One of their tactics lies in exploiting legitimate historical grievances in the Black community.

    2. This article doesn’t waste its time with false balance by interviewing people who think the riots are an unambiguously bad thing. Such people are racists, and it’s a waste of time talking to racists.

But don’t say the article is *completely* non-balanced, it quotes a police chief who “understand[s] both sides.”

Oh, and of course the deaths of nonblacks at the hands of police, sometimes at the hands of black police, are not worthy of mention, even though Minneapolis was the place where a few years ago a black cop killed an innocent white Australian woman –

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Justine_Damond

I mean, sure, it was the subject of high-level diplomatic intervention by the Australian government, and an international embarrassment for the United States, but it distracts from the narrative that the only reason the police abuse black people is because they’re the agents of White Supremacy.

      1. “I mean, sure, it was the subject of high-level diplomatic intervention by the Australian government, and an international embarrassment for the United States, but it distracts from the narrative that the only reason the police abuse black people is because they’re the agents of White Supremacy.”

That’s a very atypical case. And not terribly controversial. There were no protests in the streets of Minneapolis or Australia. The perpetrator went to jail and the family of the victim were awarded a multimillion $ settlement.

I’m sure there are those who would argue that’s it’s not white supremacy but ‘institutional racism’ that’s behind these uprisings. There are institutional incentives to brutalize the poor, and the blacks get the brunt of it. There are undoubtedly white supremists out there but they make only for a small minority. Not all the outspoken, either. Most people find the idea the skin colour confers superiority laughable, at least in America. India’s the place for obsession with skin colour. What adult diapers do for FOX, skin toners do for Indian TV.

    3. Violence is always a possibility as a last resort when peaceful protest fails. It is counterproductive unless you have a unified message and broad support for the use of violence. The issues with police overreach have been building for years, and yet it feels like the race-baiting narrative has been forcefully inserted to drive apart any attempts to unify the message.

So you end up with people causing more damage when calm words might have been more effective, and it reflects poorly on the attempts to reform. There’s violence in Columbus as people broke into the state house and shattered storefront windows. There’s rioting in Atlanta with people throwing at the CNN center and breaking windows and causing damage. And the rioting in Minneapolis and St. Paul is not creating sympathy for the movement, it’s only creating more victims.

      1. There’s been some speculation among some on these comment boards that racial division, not reform, is in fact the goal of those who are loudest on the subject.

There seems to be at least a public consensus – even among cops this time – that killing Floyd was wrong.

There didn’t even have to be an argument over this – the cops screwed the pooch so badly their defenders are few and far between.

But such a crystallizing consensus may be threatening to the race-mongers. No, they have to find some issue on which they can argue. Support the riots or you’re a racist! Drag out the putrid corpse of Michael Brown (a case the Obama Justice Department declined to prosecute, though that’s been memory-holed too). These fuckers won’t take yes for an answer, they have to get white supremacists to fight, even if the white supremacists are cleverly disguised as Target stores, etc.

        1. What gets me is there are plenty of examples of the cops blasting black people that in no way deserved it: cops killing that female homeowner while she was in her own house in Fort Worth; cops no-knocking and killing that woman in Kentucky, et cetera.

But invariably, the cases BLM love to trot out as proof of systemic racism requiring riots, are people like Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, LaQuan McDonald, the jogging Mr. Arbery, and now this guy. George Floyd. Floyd didn’t deserve to die. The cops here look guilty of some form of criminal homicide. Yet, unlike the two innocent homeowners I mentioned above, each of these guys i listed decided to escalate to violence after an alleged criminal episode committed by them, and all of them lost. And yet it’s these guys who are the poster children for racist violence in America.

          1. There is also no lack of stories of cops killing white people for no reason that nobody seems to care about.

Want to protest police brutality? Fine. Let’s do so. But to pretend that ONLY one kind of brutality is bad is silly.

            1. Yeah, I mean go read Radley Balko’s entire portfolio. But I don’t reasonably expect BLM to give a shit about those killings.

Black women getting murdered (Spare me the ‘Well acktually…’ that those killings weren’t murders.) in their own homes, OTOH…

            2. This.

The illusion being created is that we have a problem that’s explicitly racist, when the actual problem we have is a cop problem.

Though this shit happens to whites less proportionally, it STILL happens to whites more than to blacks in raw numbers.

Racism sucks. But this isn’t a racism problem. It’s a cop problem.

              1. “Though this shit happens to whites less proportionally…”

I do not believe that this is correct. The conclusion comes from comparing the proportion of unarmed minorities (blacks and non-white hispanics) killed by police with population demographics. However, I believe using population demographics as a baseline is simplistic. It is the easiest baseline to use, and purely by coincidence, of course, it is the baseline which most strongly supports a narrative of systemic police racism.

In my opinion, a far better baseline would be the proportion of contacts with minorities which result in conviction for a violent crime. That’s harder to determine, but there’s a researcher who has done that as well as performed better curation of the raw data, calculated the resulting statistics, and presented lectures on the results (I can’t recall her name right now).

In short, what she found is that unarmed whites are _more_ likely to be victims of fatal police brutality than unarmed blacks and non-white hispanics.

          2. “And yet it’s these guys who are the poster children for racist violence in America.”

They are more like martyrs than poster children. The spiritual dimension is probabably more influencial and stronger than it is for normal white culture.

      2. “The issues with police overreach have been building for years, and yet it feels like the race-baiting narrative has been forcefully inserted to drive apart any attempts to unify the message.”

        This exactly.
        Because these aren’t protests.
They are coordinated civil unrest orchestrated by totalitarian leftists

        1. Reason should fold shop if all they are attracting are racists like this, and Shultz. This is an example of a person who can’t learn, or reason. He still blames Obama, lol.

          1. It’s not racist to call you a useful idiot for the communists. Which is what I’m doing right now

          2. Nothing like the weak mind of just another npc leftist to really drive the point home by projecting its racism onto others.

        2. Got any evidence, nardz?

          1. Yeah, none of the people arrested being from Minneapolis is evidence. Having part of the mob turn on a reporter and his crew when they found out they were from Fox is also evidence. But let’s not pretend that any of that matters to a dishonest piece of shit like you.

            1. The mob at the White House, btw.

    4. indistinguishable from The Root

      1. The most racist publication I’ve ever seen

        1. Yes, but that’s okay because intersectionality and because they don’t threaten the rich, white establishment’s class interests.

  15. Trump is the most divisive POTUS in history and the All American girl has noticed:

    Taylor Swift

    @taylorswift13
After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump

    Brutal. Well done Taylor.

    1. Yeah Taylor Swift is especially insightful, even by celebrity standards. And she’s a brilliant lyricist too: “We are never never never getting back together!”

      1. Why you gotta be so mean?

    2. LMAO. The She-Wolf of the SS went woke right around the time Soros backed the purchase of her music rights from under her nose. She’s just trying to get control of those back and she won’t be allowed to do it without paying her virtue-signaling dues.

      1. Wow, that is a lot of wingnut to unpack.

        But:

Taylor Swift is drawing criticism — and apparent applause among her neo-Nazi fan base — for calling out “the Soros family” in an Instagram post. It’s the latest salvo in the pop superstar’s ongoing battle with her former record label.
The family long has been at the center of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish domination of global banking. George Soros, a Hungarian billionaire and liberal philanthropist, typically is the main target. But his son Alex, the deputy chair of his father’s Open Society Foundations, an international group that promotes liberal causes, has begun to feature in them as well.

Swift’s notable fan base among white supremacists seemed to get the message. Alma rounded up some of the responses that make clear that some are associating her post with widespread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Soros. (Read this 2019 Alma piece to understand Swift’s history with American neo-Nazis, also explored in a 2016 Vice story titled “Can’t shake it off: How Taylor Swift became a Nazi idol.”)

        https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/taylor-swift-calls-soros-family-shamelessly-greedy-625837

So the far right feels jilted by Taylor Swift and is making up CT regarding a business dispute.

Wingnuts can find a political motive in anything.

        1. Every demographic chooses a pop icon. Gay men worship Cher, black women love Beyoncé, and neo-Nazis worship Taylor Swift, a skinny, blonde Pennsylvania girl that they have labeled an “Aryan Goddess.” Nazis and members of the “alt right”—an Internet subculture that is best described as the venn diagram of hipster culture and white supremacy—have been spreading a conspiracy theory that Swift is a covert Nazi. They claim Swift’s songs “red pilled” America into believing a conservative, racist agenda. (Taylor Swift’s representative, a publicist named Tree Paine, did not return Broadly’s request for comment.)

          https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/ae5x8a/cant-shake-it-off-how-taylor-swift-became-a-nazi-idol

Fascinating. Far right nutjobs built a goddess in their own image out of Swift. Now she has spurned them.

And RedRocks is a Neo Nazi.

          1. No, I’m AntiHicklib, hicklib.

            1. She never told you Nazi types she was a fellow conservative. You just imagined it from her persona.

              1. Stay off the PCP and you might recognize a joke when it’s told, you hicklib pederast.

          2. Fascinating. Dumbfuck thinks Vice is anything but conjecture and slander.

And Buttplug is still a Maoist shitstain, by the way.

        2. Thanks for confirming that Soros bankrolled the purchase, you hicklib pederast.

          1. Alex Soros, idiot. She is hardly the anti-Semite you want her to be.

            1. Thanks for confirming that Soros bankrolled the purchase, you hicklib pederast.

              1. You just got proven wrong. I mean really, indisputably wrong. Yet you continue in love it didn’t just happen. Fascinating.

                1. *continue on like

                2. Because Alex is George’s son?

                3. Are you actually claiming that Alex Soros isn’t George’s son?

                  1. He’s just spouting dishonest bullshit like he always does.

            2. Alex Soros is NOT a Soros?

              Intriguing.

        3. Well, Soros is a really shitty person.

      1. Whoever Lena Dunham tells her to.

    3. The biggest blow to Drumphler still Kathy Griffin’s made a Twitter post reflecting what the other Rich White Celebrities told her to think.

  16. I’m waiting to see the white militia in St. Paul join with these black gun toters to help protect the black-owned businesses…and vice versa.

    1. Are you talking about antifa?

  17. They all look like felons.

  18. Wow. Been watching the coverage on Fox.

They had footage of an MSNBC broadcaster saying that it’s been a peaceful protest.

While standing in front of a building engulfed in flames.

    1. Nothing spontaneous about these riots

      1. Agreed. Small businesses trying to survive Covid just got burned down. There can be no American middle class.

      2. Got any evidence?

        1. What’s it like not having any idea what’s really going on? Or are you just repeating the talking points you were emailed by your masters this am?

        2. You mean besides the governor, mayor, and police chief in Minneapolis saying many of the rioters are coming, or being brought in, from outside the city?

Also the Detroit police chief said 3/4 of the rioters they’ve arrested aren’t from Detroit, and many aren’t even from Michigan.

So again, you’re proven an idiot.

        3. Got any evidence that you had an 18 series MOS? Or were in the military at all, let alone SF?

          (Here’s a hint – you weren’t)

  19. I remember buying this magazine for insight, and to expand my awareness. It’s a shame this has turned into a racist swamp, excuses for some authoritarianism for others. I never expected to see so much violence here.

    1. None of this is true Hihn.

      1. Keep trying, suspension of disbelief has worked well on you. You all will say anything for you authoritarianism

        1. You just keep projecting your blatant totalitarianism on everyone else, Hihn.

Maybe there’ll be another opportunity for you to suck the mullah cock of your Iranian masters soon.

    2. “WAH LETTING BLACKS HAVE GUNS IS RACIST, LET THEM EAT CAKE AND START FIRES”

    3. Same. This place went from a unique place online where you could find novel and intelligent takes. Now it’s just another trump cult rest stop orgy.

      1. It was intelligent until all you leftist stooges came when trump was elected.

You’re all like California residents. You realized the sites you used to read were retarded, so you moved. But like most California residents you’re too dumb to realize the sites you moved from were retarded because of their political ideology. So you brought that ideology with you, even though its the reason you left those places.

In fairness, whenever anybody begins a statement “I’m not racist, but…” what follows is usually something racist.
At least thats been my experience

I felt compelled to preface my statement with that disclaimer merely because good counterculture has become so inextricably intertwined with black identity that any criticism of the counterculture, no matter how mild, is taken as an expression of hatred for blackness itself. It’s asinine, it muddles the issue and derails the discussion. There are plenty of cultures I consider objectively defective and inferior from the standpoint of maximizing Holman well-being, and it has nothing to do with whatever race of people happens to predominate in them.

    1. human well being*
      Christ on a pogo stick.

      1. hood counterculture*
What business do I need to torch to get a goddamn edit button?

    2. Yea, I’m not saying your statement was racist – just that the preface usually leads that way (to the point of being a meme).
Ghetto culture sucks, whether its in the inner city or the trailer park.
But the blend of resentment, boldness, and peer conformity makes it very useful to totalitarian leftism

    3. In fairness, whenever anybody begins a statement “I’m not racist, but…” what follows is usually something racist.
At least thats been my experience

In my experience when someone says “I’m not X” they care about the concept “X” and wish people wouldn’t call their nuanced opinion “X.”

      1. Speaking as someone who never says “I’m not X” because I mostly am all the X’s.

        1. I’m not Malcolm X but……..

  21. You can’t expect our heroes in blue to risk their safety to protect ordinary citizens. Poor bastards are only making six figures with a 2 yr community college degree with the option to retire at 55 and earn 75% of their max salary and free Bennie’s for life.

    1. THEY JUST WANNA GET HOME TO THEIR FAMILIES!

  22. “ Black activists, some inspired by the likes of Malcolm X and the Black Panthers, are using their guns”

Are they sniping little old ladies from hotel rooftops like the Panthers used to do?

Damnit, THINK first. THEN write. And fucking edit.

  23. So they only guard a business if it’s owned by a black person? Isn’t that kind of racist?

    1. When Ferguson was burning, armed blacks guarded a white owned gas station against looters and arsonists. That fact did not meet anyone’s stereotype or agenda so I guess that went in the memory hole.

  24. This is not just an assertion of Second Amendment rights. It also asserts that representatives of a police state, like Derek Chauvin, forfeit their authority. They can no longer act as policemen, only thugs, while members of the community step in to do what police are supposed to do. That is one reason police all over the country have condemned Chauvin. They understand at last that Chauvin – and other officers who commit murder – threaten not only their own reputation, but their ability to do anything at all.

  25. I do find it odd how THESE “protests” are always labelled as “mostly peaceful”, but the protests in MI over the lockdown were, apparently, “The Holocaust…ONLY WORSE!!”

    1. To be fair the actual protests have been peaceful. Those using Lloyd’s murder as an excuse to riot, loot and burn have not been peaceful. Protest organizers and Lloyd’s family have condemned the rioting. They know that the rioters don’t give a damn about Lloyd.

      1. There was dramatically less looting in MI (last I checked, there was about zero) in the lock down protests, yet the press certainly never labelled it mostly peaceful.

        Seems odd.

  26. In the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis…

Fixed it for you. The weasel phrase “police-involved” is used only by cops and their media boot lickers.

  27. I’d be willing to bet that the magazine in his AK isn’t legal…

    1. Assuming that video still picture is from video taken in the Twin Cities, then it’s legal – MN has no firearm magazine capacity restrictions:

      https://lawcenter.giffords.org/gun-laws/state-law/50-state-summaries/large-capacity-magazines-state-by-state/

      1. MN, however, does prohibit carrying (open or concealed) without a permit. This includes rifles.
        https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/624.7181

  28. You know what? I don’t give a fuck about racism. In fact, I’m really fucking tired of hearing about it. If I meet a racist today, I’m going to buy him a drink. I suggest everyone does likewise.

    1. A racist with some drinks under his belt…just the sort of fellow I’d love to hang out with.

      oh, and /sarc

    2. No.

  29. Why would you reference a tweet from a raciest in your article? That video is from a Twitter account that is outright raciest.

  30. I never expected to see so much violence here.

    1. Minneapolis, or Reason?

      1. Certainly not Minneapolis. Mary Tyler Moore walking in the park, throwing up her hat in the air, not a hint of violence there.

Here at Reason. We are the party of peace and non aggression.

I have no idea where said violence is coming from.

  31. Awesome, but he wasn’t out jogging BTW.

  32. The race of a criminal is irrelevant to to the crime , , ,

    1. Only if it’s a minority killing someone.

  33. Welp, anyone who wanted to see a bunch of liberal, Democrat-run cities burn to the ground is getting their wish this weekend.

  34. In fifty years, things haven’t changed much. When I was a student at Berkeley, me and my long-haired pals would mingle with the Black Panthers. They had a profound hatred for America, which one of their leaders, Eldridge Cleaver, described many years later in an interview with Reason. The idea that these folks are well-meaning guardians of justice is ridiculous. They’re angry, and they want blood. One of my pals was dealing drugs to the Panthers, and on a visit that I attended, they showed us an arsenal with machine guns, bazookas, plastic explosives, you name it. I was stunned. One of the Panthers said, “When you hippies get serious about taking down The Man, you come here. We’ll give you whatever you need.”

    1. Radical white leftists have been running Operation Get Behind the Darkies for decades. What you described is a big reason the Panthers and Weatherman ended up falling out–the Panthers got wise to the fact that Ayers, Dohrn, and the rest of the white kids in Weatherman expected them to do all the heavy lifting in burning the US to the ground.

They’re still doing it now, just under the guise over the last 20 years of groups like ANSWER, Occupy, and Antifa. Every single one of these groups has been utterly dominated by white leftists from upper middle class and wealthy backgrounds.

      1. Thought Tom Wolfe explained all of this with “Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers?”

It’d be nice if we could find out the deceased’s criminal record, one way or the other. There’s a particularly nasty allegation that Floyd had a lengthy criminal record in Texas, including home invasion robbery. Which frankly wouldn’t surprise me. However, the birthday in the alleged criminal history for Floyd doesn’t match what we’re told of his age at the time of death, which was 40. Normally that would end it, but I lack faith that news orgs like CNN can get something correct like the victim’s age at death.

        1. The home invasion story is completely legit. Daily Mail actually posted jpegs of the case file.

The guy held a gun to a pregnant woman’s stomach while he and his buddies robbed the place. He ended up doing 7 years and then went to Minneapolis after that. He apparently kept his nose clean enough to not get picked up for anything after that, until he tried to use that fake bill and all hell broke loose.

The cops went way over the line, obviously, but he definitely had a pretty extensive criminal record. Getting away from Houston probably did more to keep him out of trouble in the interim than anything else.

          1. The reddit guy that pulled what was supposed to be his criminal history report, pulled it for a guy with a 1973 birth year. Floyd supposed to be 40 though, or born in 79-80.

7 years for using a gun on a pregnant woman during a home invasion….it doesn’t sound anywhere near like enough.

Did he actually keep his nose clean in MN, or is that up in the air too? I remember MN taking forever to confirm whether or not Castile had a license to carry when we were discussing that tragic event here.

Anyway, the reason I asked about his criminal history, is that a guy who’s done that kind of time isn’t likely to actually be having a panic attack from getting cuffed. Or claim claustrophobia. What he is likely to be doing is actively resisting arrest, and trying to be the biggest pain in the ass he can. Still doesn’t mean the cops get to kill him—-dealing with pains in the ass in a professional manner is supposed to be part of the job—but it does better help us understand how things got to where they did. Also, hopefully this clues in some people about what kind of guys a lot of security guards are. Still want that escort to your car at night, ladies?
