Brickbat: Concerned Father

An Australian judge has sentenced Ashan Ortell to one year probation and placed him on the sex offenders registry after was convicted of child pornography. Ortell had found his 15-year-old stepdaughter had been sexting with her boyfriend and copied images off her phone to show to police.

here's a ball, perhaps you'd like to bounce it.
What are you in for?
Trying to stop my daughter's setting. You?
Letting my kids play outside. Frank over there packed a pb&j in his son's lunch. Next to him is Bob. He told his kids not to trust the government.
'I turned my 15 year old step daughter in to the cops for sexting' [ they all pull out shivs ] 'We know how to deal with a snitch bitch '.
^This^
What an epic act of stupidity. I sense there is something very wrong with this guy so I am not going to take this story on its face.
He had naked pictures of his ex-wife's daughter.
Can't imagine why that was a problem.
It's all in the TFA.
The guy didn't just take the girl's phone to the cops, he copied the pictures to his computer. The cops told him to delete them or they'e charge him. He refused.
The guy sounds like a dick of the first order.
Yeah, this is much less outrageous than it sounds from the headline. And they didn't even charge the girl or her boyfriend, who probably would both have been fucked in this country.
I don't know what he was expecting. That the police would arrest the boy? That they would ruin the boy's life because *his daughter* was messing around with him?
exactly. Unless you really don't care about the eventual fate of a person, never call the cops on them. I'd be reluctant to call the cops on a complete stranger sans a serious crime, never on a member of my family.
In a way he he got some deserved blow back. Turning a 15 year old into the cops for sexting and ruining her and her boy friends lives? What an ass.
Agreed. For once one of these stories turned out how it should have. Guy got exactly what he tried to do to someone else.
The court heard that he had no prior criminal history and had excellent prospects of rehabilitation.
How long does it take to get over a good fisting? He'll be up and walking in no time.
He'll be looking through the other kids rooms for pot before you know it.
Having unaccountable strangers with guns solve my domestic disputes is how I roll.
Nothing to do with this brickbat, I just love this. Never change, Internet. Never change.
He never had good taste in woman. That's why no one ever believed the women.
+ 1 I almost spit out my coffee.
Drag a hundred-dollar bill through a roomful of Democrats and there's no telling what you'll catch.
A beatdown and be mugged of any other cash you might have on hand followed by a harangue for being so greedy.
Keeping what belongs to you is greed, while taking what does not belong to you is altruism.
Multiple raids? also he was warned that he could be prosecuted, guy seemed to pick a funny hill to die on.
Recycling?
Brickbats from all new material are expensive, so they reuse mechanically separated article paste.
I feel bad for the guy, but what a retard.
It doesn't count as a brickbat when it was already covered by Reason a week prior
They don't pay enough for a brickbat to make researching whether it's a rehash worth the effort.
It's early Monday morning, even earlier in California, cut 'em some slack if they seem to be half-assing the job. At least they're not recycling the comments.
Hey! There's a troll for Robbie - next lynx he ought to copy/paste some of our favorite socks' (sock's? should sock be singular or plural?) favorite comments in before Fist.
should sock be singular or plural?
Singular. We're all the same person, we just don't realize it.
Don't. Call. The. Cops.
Horrible law hooks horrible father. Profligate policy pits are also fucking equal opp.
Goddamn asteroids can fuck themselves. By the time this humanic evolution is full manifest the highest in the animal realms will have chained their fucking societies deep into the end-all dripping wet of dungeons and blood-letting chambers. Jesus fucking Christ, our obsession with domination has no ceiling.
*slow clap*
Beautiful. A modern day Hemingway... but more drugs.
You are sweet 2 go, dear. But I'm a fucking fool.
Reason has become the new Slashdot.
Well, he wanted them to act and they did.
Actually, I'll give the cops here credit. They gave him a chance to destroy the evidence. When was the last time you heard about cops doing that?
Of course the other question this raises is, what action, exactly, did he want the cops to take?
Reason ads load app-store spam on iOS.
Might wanna fix that, because it's user-hostile.
