Video: Student Forced to Remove Trump Hat, 'You're Not Allowed to Share Hate Language'
'You've got to take the hat off or I'm going to write to the president of the university...'

Students at a Canadian university confronted another student who was wearing a "Make American Great Again" hat—when he refused their demands to remove his hat, the students grabbed it off his head.
You've got to take it off," insisted one female student, later identified as Zoe Slusar, a former vice president of Mount Royal University's student life program.
The student wearing the hat—Matt Linder, according to CBC—argued that he was exercising his free speech rights. "I'm not allowed to support a political candidate?" he asked.
"You aren't allowed to share hate language in the university," Slusar replied.
She didn't back down. Eventually she even threatened to report Linder to university authorities. "You got to take the hat off or I'm going to write the president of the university and he's going to come talk to you," she said.
Before that could happen, another student grabbed the hat off Linder's head. You can see a video of the encounter here.
MRU subsequently affirmed Linder's right to wear the hat in a statement: "Mount Royal University respects individuals who exercise their constitutionally-protected right to freedom of expression."
Slusar later admitted that Linder did indeed have a right to wear the hat:
"He is allowed to wear the hat. As a student, I disagree with what the hat represents. I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually) who would drop a class if the person wearing the hat was sitting in the room with them, because they would feel unsafe. Given the deeper issues of intolerance and oppression represented by the hat, I disagree with it."
I disagree with the sentiment behind the hat, too (although I would dispute that it's mere presence makes a room less safe). A university is a place where people with different views should challenge each other, and Slusar had every right to call out Linder for supporting a hateful, fascistic charlatan. I applaud her for doing so. But when she denied Linder the right to express his views, she succumbed to the same authoritarian impulse that animates Trump.
And look—Trump supporters love this kind of thing. They are out there, on college campuses, waiting for an excuse to claim their free speech rights were violated. This is a clear case of an entitled student, drunk on her moral righteousness, giving Team Trump the ammunition it needs to continuing making its case against political correctness.

And she was arrested for battery, right? RIGHT?
OK, the dick who grabbed the hat was. RIGHT?
Sometimes I'm tempted to wear one of those hats, just to see if some dick has the balls to try to grab it. The upside would be having an excuse to punch some asshole in the face. The downside of course would be wearing that stupid hat, so I can't bring myself to do it.
HASN'T ANYONE PAID ATTENTION TO SUGARFREE'S WRITINGS?!! DON'T TOUCH THE HAT!!!!!!!
*shivers*
Well yeah, there's that, too.
I can't imagine the hat was too keen on being worn by a Canadian.
The Hat's vengeance is too terrible to dwell on for long...
Both the hat and the hair were violated yesterday. I fear the repercussions...
M? go to line for progs who want higher taxes is to say if you want some of my shit then at least have the balls to try to take it from me yourself
I've gone so far as to put my wallet down and say ok, there it is, try to take it.
You see a mouse trap, I see free cheese, and a fucking challenge!
I'll take a shot at some free cheddar.
I like the cut of your jib matey !!!! YARRRR !!!!!
There is a business opportunity here to make Trump hats adorned with mousetraps.
Gary Johnson needs to get some dopey slogan we can put on a hat that will offend assholes.
The student wearing the hat?Matt Linder, according to CBC?argued that he was exercising his free speech rights. "I'm not allowed to support a political candidate?" he asked.
Point of order, Canada and/or Canadians don't have any free speech rights. So what we need to do is make Canada Great The First Time.
Are you saying Canada was never great?
Yes, he is.
Lets see....
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Nope...I see strong, "free", glorious and that "free" again...no Great. GET RIGHT ON THAT CANADIANS!
I count more thees than frees.
NO FREE FOR THEE!
I see everything I said down below has already been covered.
They have free speech rights, just they are not as absolute as they are in the United States.

Sorry Fruit Sooshi, we're on to your trolling now.
FS submissions should come with their own trigger warning now.
Damn!
*tips Trump hat in display of respect*
It's about time u all realized Sikha is just trolling too. I laugh when some of the commenters take her seriously. She's probably cytotoxic.
>Shika is Cytotoxic
Holy shit. It all makes sense now
She's going to ruin everything you worked so hard for.
we all know that drunk women can't consent, thus the hat wearer obvs raped her
Slusar had every right to call out Linder for supporting a hateful, fascistic charlatan
I found the troll bait guys...and ladies?
"Hateful, fascistic charlatan" describes an awful lot of politicians. Very nearly 100% of them, in fact.
You'll get no argument from me, that's next door.
No it is not! It is right here!
Shut your festering gob you tit!
That's abuse.
Yeah, but you don't have to call them out in written articles to keep the cocktail party invites going.
I had an outstanding sidecar last night. I'll write whatever you like for one of those.
Hey, whatever you're into sexually, keep it to yourself.
DONT JUDGE ME!
/runs off sobbing
Will the euphemisms never end?
But enough about PM Zoolander...
Robby's just trolling us now.
It's true that racists have been known to occasionally wear hats.
"Now"!?
You know who else had a fine collection of hats...
Dog?
Every Team Fortress 2 player?
+1 Pyro
Mystery?
Haha, what is Longtorso's idol up to these days?
Bartholomew Cubbins?
the Patriarch of the Latvian Orthodox Church?
The hats are very pious.
Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam?
I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually) who would drop a class if the person wearing the hat was sitting in the room with them, because they would feel unsafe.
So if they saw a Trump billboard or TV ad, their heads would explode, Scanners style?
I think they don't really understand what "unsafe" means.
They really, really don't.
+1 dogs and fire hoses
Diversity in everything but thought.
I weep for the future (and the near present)
I can tolerate anything except the outgroup.
So, if millions of us bite the bullet and put on Trump regalia and roam the country, think we can get them all to leave a la class dropping?
If only that were true I might vote for Trump
I think we have discovered the solution to free college tuition.
Give it to everybody, then send people with Trump hats to every campus so nobody takes advantage.
I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually) who would drop a class if the person wearing the hat was sitting in the room with them
How are these overly sensitive snowflakes going to function in the real world? Is being a stupid wimp a source of pride these days?
If that were true (the class dropping) we could make college safe for free speech in a hurry.
Get it on YouTube!
Seriously, WTF is wrong with these people? I'll give them something to feel unsafe about.
True threat! True threat! Preet, Preet, where are you?
They are out there, on college campuses, waiting for an excuse to claim their free speech rights were violated.
"Excuse" or proof?
"You got to take the hat off or I'm going to write the president of the university and he's going to come talk to you," she said.
The ultimate penalty
Fortunately we all know that college administrators never over-react and punish people disproportionately without a fair review of the merits of charges.
"Mount Royal University respects individuals who exercise their constitutionally-protected right to freedom of expression."
Phew, so the girl who expressed herself all over the kids hat is protected.
Why, its almost as if you didn't understand that the point was being made generally about the capricious nature of university administrations.
In a discussion of an incident in which that did not happen.
I just think it's funny.
because this shit never happens in canada
Lets see....death, exile, imprisonment....TALKING TO BY UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT.
*chooses death*
I always thought exile was a dawdle. "WE DONT LIKE YOU! LEAVE!"
Me: okay.
"Ooooh, I'm so scared. Exile me to an island in the Mediterranean. Oh, please, I dare you."
"Able was I, ere I saw Elba."
"You are banished to ....the Woods of STEVE SMITH"
Muhuhuwaha!
If you think of modern equivalent as "you get no internet," it becomes more understandable as punishment.
NOOOOOOOOOOO! I rather go to the boats.
I posted this a couple days ago, but here it is again. Via Don Boudreaux.
http://cafehayek.com/2016/09/41388.html
What foods go well with a Don Bordeaux?
Fava beans and a nice Chianti.
It'd be redundant to have both a Bordeaux and a Chianti, wouldn't it?
So it's been left to the commentariat to make the "libertarian" case for Trump?
According to Jackass Ass, we do that every time we bring up Hillary's lawlessness without expending an equal amount of vitriol on Der Drumpf.
I enjoy seeing Trump supporters always show up in Robby's turf to berate him for something or other.
Robby's turf? Hey, friendo, OUR gang took over this block!
*shows H&R Commentariat gang tatoo, flashes libertarian gang signs and displays orange gang colors*
Yeah, last week I saw a gang of H&R commenters beating a Cosmotarian effigy in the street.
These euphemisms.
"OUR GANG?". Who's Spanky, who's Alfalfa?
Criticizing Robby is by default an endorsement of Trump.
Yes, in exactly the same way as failing to criticize Hillary is support for Hillary.
Is this your version of "I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I?"
Everyone who disses on Robby's millenial-pandering-schtick MUST be a Trumpalo by default - and if someone disagrees with that idiotic claim... you then start talking about Hillary?
Is it really not possible to hate on Robby because of "what he writes", and not because of anything to do with who happens to be running for president? Because Robby mostly writes about issues which often have nothing to do with either of them.
You seem to live in some alternate dimension where everything must be either Yin or Yang, and nothing in between.
And you still went ahead and posted this after SugarFree's 2:33 comment.
Well done.
His bitch-nagging doesn't change my point to you at all.
Please tell me how mentioning Hillary's name has made this "about Hillary".
I specifically said i don't understand why you think either presidential candidate has anything to do with this. You're the one insisting there's something 'partisan' going on here.
Your response was just as stupid and nonsensical as your claim that anyone who dares criticize robby must by default be a trump supporter.
It's alright, you've made it clear that you don't see it.
That you suffer from a Sixth-Sense-esque "I See Red People"-retardation, yes.
Forget it GILMORE, it's SJW-town.
Real libertarians believe that progressives are well-intentioned, but just rely on government for solutions a little too much. Also Johnson/Weld is the most pure LP ticket ever. /H&R SJWs
"Johnson/Weld is the most pure LP ticket ever" file under "sad but true"
I was going to say that they're the best LP ticket ever, but I thought that was too true to be funny.
A few of them aren't Trump supporters, just garden-variety douchebags looking for something to get their panties in a twist over.
"You're one of the good ones, sugar"
Yer off the cocktail party train, mister!
The enemy of the enemies of freedom is an enemy that...wait a minute. Oh damn. Can't do it.
Certain commenters tolerance for cognitive dissonance does indeed border on the superhuman, but I imagine such an attempt would explode even the thickest of skulls.
A neat little microcosm of the near-future we will all soon be living in
I'm picturing Cindy Brady with that frowny face she gets every time she threatens to tattle again.
Near-future?
A common theme I've found here for things that are decades-old part of our wonderful dystopia we live in. If you don't push off as a future problem that which is eating you from the inside out right now, you might actually have to do something about it. Granted, the tyrants (more wings, see NYPD piracy article and thread) do a good job of this so as you don't notice, but it's about the size of it. If you even become aware, you perceive that you have something left to lose, so remain docile and convince yourself it's tomorrow's problem. The Pols kick the can down the road and we tramp idly along beside them.
I disagree with the sentiment behind the hat, too
I dont. I want to make America great again. Of course, the way I want to do that and the way Trump wants to do it arent the same thing at all, and mine would work while his wont. The fact that you don't want to do it at all is what is wrong with you Robby.
Was it ever really that great?
*Let's question linger in the air, walks out of room*
For those who get to reap the rewards of pre-sewn illusions, it's great. And for the superstitious who get to placate their angst by burning witches, it's fairly rewarding. For the cynics or the burned, of any age, it's probably not been so great.
Grading on a curve...sure.
And grading on a curve is the only way to approach things like this realistically. Comparing something not to what could be but what one wishes it was is how we get utopian-peddling dystopias such as communist states. After all, libertarianism itself would fail a test of perfection, as not everyone would have a great life under its systems if implemented, and some would have worse. Everything can be criticized for not being better than it is.
So, this is all about Luxebourg surpassing in per capita GDP? Maybe that's the country we should invade next then.
I came here to type this, but robc did it for me.
"MRU subsequently affirmed Linder's right to wear the hat in a statement: "Mount Royal University respects individuals who exercise their constitutionally-protected right to freedom of expression."
Canada has a constitution? Who knew...
Yes, but none of the rights are stated as absolute, as in the US constitution; there are plenty of exceptions built in.
Yup, the Canadian constitution has built-in unconstitutionality.
Which is why Notorious RBG prefers it.
Well, I guess he'll think twice again about someone 'talking' to him. That was scary.
Hey now, they would have made a notation about the talk in his permanent record.
This is a clear case of an entitled student, drunk on her moral righteousness, giving Team Trump the ammunition it needs to continuing making its case against political correctness.
This describes pretty much every anti-Trump protest. And it's going to get worse each week.
Trump couldn't generate better press if he paid them himself. The left will never disappoint when it comes to proving their outright hypocrisy in terms of tolerance for differing viewpoints.
Hey, this is what PC lefty Progressives DO. They try to shut down all speech they disagree with on the grounds that it makes them feel icky. When confronted on their obvious disdain for freedom of speech they shuck and jive, and far too often they get away with it.
A pox on 'em.
Today, I saw my first Johnson/Weld 16 bumper sticker, here in Balmer. I still have not seen one Hillary sticker, in deep blue MD. Haven't seen a Trump sticker either.
So if I go by bumper stickers to predict the election, it's GayJay by 1 - 0 - 0. Stein doesn't get a 0 by default.
My wife and I have them on our cars too. UT.
I saw a Johnson sign yesterday in Orlando. No Hillary, maybe 5 Trump.
"A Florida man, today, impaled his foot with the stake of a campaign sign, while putting it in his yard. His screams and frantic arm flapping attracted a passing group of flamingos, which then attempted to mate with him. Toxicology tests are expected to show Natty Light and meth in his system"
Hey, that's a vicious stereotype. I don't drink natty light.
I haven't seen a single political sign in NYC - other than shit left over from previous elections and mostly local elections at that.
You live in an enlightened area.
It wasn't enlightened 4 years ago when there were Obama signs everywhere.
They learned. Even more encouraging. My greatest pride in our fellow countrymen is that most don't bother to vote.
^^This
It is a sign that (most) things are A-OK.
It's sad that the follow up Democratic candidate has to follow up Obama's failed meatloaf of an administration, is a beastly cow in her own right, but the Republicans are SOOO far fucked up all they could do was hoist Trump up as opposition. They'd been losing a hold on their own party for so long, but were so arrogant to even notice it, that they have a deplorable candidate of their own. They could have put up just about anybody else of the last ten years and won, but are so incompetent they are likely to fail. The only reason it is close now is that Trump is keeping his trap shut, mostly.
As about as sick a situation as anyone could have drawn up. If ANYONE had written a fictional story about what we have in reality now, ten years ago, there's no one who would have believed it.
So that's 4 for GayJay, 5 for Trump, 0 for Hillary.
I saw a lady with a Trump button this week at a family event that I expected to be more left leaning. I've seen two yard posters for 'illary next to the freeway, but they didn't last long. I saw more H stickers before the DNC; I think people have trashed them and the supporters don't care to replenish their stock.
Also, big Trump display (painted car on blocks in the front yard) in backwater PA on the drive into an obstacle race last weekend.
Northeast NJ, just outside of NYC. I've seen 3 Trump lawn signs, 1 Hillary. 2 Hillary bumper stickers, several Trump stickers, and 2 Johnson. Not sure how meaningful it is.
My drive to work through deepest blue Massatwoshits brings me past 2 Hillary signs, 3 Trump signs (that are there intermittently. I'm guessing stolen and then replaced.) and 1 Johnson sign. Not surprisingly (here) there are2 holdouts that still have their Bernie signs out. I see mostly Hillary bumperstickers, followed by Bernie, then Johnson and occasionally a Trump. But here you're just asking for a cinder-block through your window if it's a Trump sticker.
Our past with Bill Weld may be working against Johnson here.
BTW, I've seen one, large outward display of Trump support. It was in a house on Roxbury in Whitecenter, a poor, largely minority neighborhood.
I have two neighbors in the 'hood with Trump signs. No Hillary anywhere. I also have not seen any bumper stickers for any political candidates.
*reporting from west side of the beltway*
A number of Hillary signs here (in IA), but I've seen more Johnson signs than Trump. There are a fair number of yards with signs for Johnson and the local Republican candidates.
here in RVA, I've seen a smattering of Hillary bumper stickers, a few Trump. Trump's beating her on lawn signs, though there are hardly any of either of them out there. Honestly, it's a nice change of pace from 2012 when Obama and Romney signs lined virtually every road.
We also have two Hillary for Prison '16 signs in the neighborhood.
No bumper stickers but I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's...And his hair was perfect...
In traditionally Republican north San Diego County, this week I have seen 4 GayJay bumper magnets, 0 lawns signs for anyone, and 1 car absolutely covered with that removable stuff people put on their cars for weddings and kid's sports championships...only instead of "Congrats" or "Go SDGH Volleyball", it said "Make America Great", "All Illegals Go Home" and "Trump 2016". And a crazy cat lady sitting inside of it wearing a shawl in 80 degree weather.
Here in SoCal, it looks like Bernie is gonna win as a write-in
RE: Video: Student Forced to Remove Trump Hat, 'You're Not Allowed to Share Hate Language'
You have to take your hat off to the person who told the other person to take their hat off.
By the way, wasn't it just a decade or two ago the Canadians went insane and finally put a bill of rights in their constitution?
If that is true, it just showed how silly the Canadians are.
OT: Reason and Millenials have a new class of foes?
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/arti.....d=28814494
You pay walled me dawg.
Damn... *hangs head in shame*
Well that's interesting. Need more polls to confirm. But that might be generally positive except for the whole "support the drug war" thing. I couldn't half of one fuck about state approved gay marriage one way or the other.
give*
Since 2000? I think it would be a little difficult to generalize about that group yet.
Yeah, I'm calling horseshit.
Hey?! I'm trolling Soave here!
*grumbles*
I'll believe it when they launch the Junior Anti-Sex League for real.
Paywalls ?
BTW, I have to order 2 Trump hats and mail to someone I know in Brazil, so that he and a co-worker can troll their fellow co-workers with them.
I know someone who is going to be on "the list"
But when she denied Linder the right to express his views, she succumbed to the same authoritarian impulse that animates Trump.
I know Robby is into a bit of trolling. But, exactly how much evidence is there to support that last part? I mean, I oppose DT because I don't want the right to be authoritarian at all. And on an authoritarian scale of 1-10, Trump is about a 6 or a 7. But, these assholes have been going full blast 9-10 for a few years now.
Robby sounds a little bit like what Trumpkins would call a "beta cuck".
I get a lot of joy from his lampooning of these millennial morons though, so carry on.
e.g. "Arguments Robby Would Vigorously Denounce If Other People Made Them"
Grow the fuck up.
It's sad when a vegetable can intelligently summarize the whole kerfuffle in four words, but there you are.
Has no one told Zoe that wearing her hat backwards is cultural appropriation?
So is the hair straightener she's using.
still though...would?
Would... But then again I'd fuck a catcher's mitt.
The meaning of fascism is lost on SJWs. And why wasn't she arrested for assault?
He was probably too busy bleeding out from having his hat grabbed to alert the cops.
(that would be the battery part)
How can Canadians work themselves up into this kind of outrage????? Did we annex them as the 51st state and I failed to notice?
Yeah, not sure why they should get so emotional about a US election. Maybe they don't want all the whiney losers moving there if Trump wins.
I'm going to start announcing that if Hillary wins, I'm moving to North Korea.
That's gold. There's a few progs that I will be using this on.
you know Hillary and Jong shop in the same department
It's what Canadians do.
Well, this sort, and there's a fair number.
"Did we annex them as the 51st state" No They just wish they were since no one pays attention to them anyway.
I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually) who would drop a class if the person wearing the hat was sitting in the room with them, because they would feel unsafe.
Unsafe how? These people are legitimately mentally ill. There is something wrong with them. I'm also pretty sure there have been more hate crime hoaxes on college campuses than actual hate crimes in the past few years.
I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually)
Yes, dearie, we got that message when you told the guy that pro-Trump speech is hate speech, but I'm sure you're just busting at the seams, all swole up with pride over the little gold star you earned making sure the message got out loud and clear - "I'm a superior human being, see how non-judgemental I am about colored people and queers and other lesser humans?"
Back in my day, there was a meme about "I'm not a bigot, why, some of my best friends are [blank]" and it wasn't a complimentary meme then, either, you condescending bitch.
I feel unsafe with all these SJWs grabbing at me to pull my clothes off.
I need someone to banish them so I can have a safe space.
I'm going to sit here and hold my breath until someone purges them, please. Thank you.
Which one? There's at least two, arguably three, running.
I wouldn't call Hillary a charlatan; she really is that awful.
I am quite sure my ballot, if get one, will be chock full o' them.
In Stein's defense, she is not a charlatan...
Just so I have this straight, people who "feel threatened", whatever the reason, have the right to actually threaten other poeple? Let me make a note of this.
They are simply responding to violence with proportionate violence. So now we don't believe in self-defense???
You got logiked ma facka!
Not just threaten, but actually assault them.
Epi already explained this a while back. They don't define dissent as violence because they are sooo sensitive, they define it as violence so they they can respond to dissent with violence and call it self-defense.
If I wore any trump gear at my job I'd be fired. It's full blown trump hate and panic there. The break room has cnn on all day and as far as I can tell cnn covers nothing but trump. I made a comment today about everybody getting their 2 minute hate on.
Apparently today's most outrageous trumpsteria is that trump is saying that Obama was born in America. Oh the humanity!
Wait, I thought the media was harassing Hillary and giving Trump a pass...
I can't keep up.
You need to stop reading Krugman. 🙂
The great thing about "The Media" is that, being a group of people with a spectrum of beliefs, it can do both. Thus we can all simultaneously be outraged that the media is being unfair to someone and favoring someone else.
Why on earth would you talk about politics at work? That's just asking for trouble.
I know not to. It was a moment of weakness during the hatefest. I mostly just nod and make neutral comments.
1) Canadians don't have "Constitutional rights"; they have "Charter rights". Odd language choice for a Canadian source.
2) I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually) who would drop a class if the person wearing the hat was sitting in the room with them, because they would feel unsafe.
Someone ought to tell them that their "feels" are utterly irrational and not anyone else's problem, at that level.
(Sexually? What? Did Trump come out for Banning Gays and I missed it? What the airborne copulation does "sexually" have to do with opposing Trump, now?
Then again, I have no idea what "culturally" has to do with it in farkin' Canada; do they have lots of illegal Mexicans I don't know about, that would be Super Skared of a Trump hat?
And if so, why not learn from American Illegal Mexicans and not be scared of a hat?)
Charter is a part of the Constitution, so 'charter rights' are 'constitutional rights'. It is called a "charter" becaue "Bill of Rights" is so American, and we can't abide anything American. Even though English Bill of Rights 1688.
Also, being pro-American in any way means you're a violent, sexist, racist asshole, so even sans Trump, The Hat is super-triggering.
"I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually) who would drop a class if the person wearing the hat was sitting in the room with them, because they would feel unsafe".
FFS, if you have to drop a class because a fellow classmate is wearing some asshole candidate's hat, you are some, immature, piece of work. Seriously? I don't pull such a stunt when I spot someone in a Hillary/Bernie/Che shirt or communist beret, despite being vehemently opposed to what it represents. I just ignore it and go on with my life. It is perfectly acceptable to challenge the wearer in a civil debate, but when you demand that the authorities ban it or take coercive action yourself, it really shows your true colors. Trump is terrible, but this PC nonsense is far worse.
AND it should go without saying (but it doesn't) a Che shirt is much more offensive than a Trump hat. For obvious reasons.
I swear to dog, the Lefties are steering more people to vote for Trump than Trump himself.
I have diverse friends (culturally and sexually) who would drop a class if the person wearing the hat was sitting in the room with them, because they would feel unsafe
It sounds like your friends are in need of serious psychological counseling.
As I have predicted (no brag, just fact) the pendulum is swinging.
The newly classified Generation Z are much less likely to approve of gay marriage, transgender rights or the legalisation of cannabis than Baby Boomers, Millennials or Generation X, a study has found. They also have a much more prudent approach to saving and spending than any generation, except those born in 1945 or before.
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/arti.....d=28814494
As we all know, the attitudes you form in your teens remain unchanged until the grave.
I still watch G I Joe, so confirmed.
You played with GI Joe in your teens?
Its like a nation-wide episode of Absolutely Fabulous.
+1 wheel's on fire
Ban assault hats!
Canadians have no fucking clue what's going on in America besides Trump = bad. Rufus is the exception that proves the rule.
Scolds and nags were once more church oriented. Not exclusively, of course, but, oh, in those by-gone days at least you knew where they might tend to flock and so how best to avoid them. The decline of religiosity as a convenient cudgel for use by buttinskies, prudes and shrews has loosed even more of these harpy assholes into the general population.
argued that he was exercising his free speech rights
Does Canada have those?
Write the President of the University? Why don't you write the fucking Queen to come talk to him? SHE'LL settle his hash! What's the good of having a Queen if you can't sic her on somebody you hate? Like he's going to get all up in her junk? That hat'll come off just by being in the same room, anyway, right? Problem solved.
The president of the university was engaged in a meeting with some very important donors, but he'll drop everything to stop imagined hate speech.
Look, the Queen ain't Obama. She's not coming all the way over there to have a beer with anyone.
Though maybe they could get Danny? Howard? Harry! Harry, to come over there. He's young, British, was in the military, he could probably hold his own drinking with the Canucks (I sure as hell couldn't).
No, wait - Harry's the spare. No, wait - that means he probably spends all his time boozing and racking up bills. He'll do.
A true Trumpian would have negotiated a deal.
"You have to take it off" she kept insisting.
A simple explanation that white tank tops make him feel unsafe creates the perfect win-win.
"You take off the shirt, I remove the hat."
The girl in the video says, "'Make America Great Again' means make America all for white people, no immigrants, no people of different sexual orientations," before getting cut off.
I hear that a lot from people who oppose Trump, but I've never heard that from Trump supporters. It seems to me that white liberals are the ones who believe those things (i.e., America's greatness associated with white dominance, homophobia) and assume that those on the right share their beliefs
Also, would, though I'd use a fake name and leave town immediately.
The guy that picked off the hat and ran to his safe space about 20 ft away probably thought he was going to hook up with the braless protestor. In my day, slaying a mastodon was sufficient to impress a mate. I guess that in 21st century Canada, swiping a ball cap is what it takes. I wonder how that worked out for him?
He had awkward, unsatisfying sex, they both cried afterwards, and now he's under investigation for sexual assault?
Apparently she was drunk on her moral righteousness, which means she can't consent...
More pant shitting from Soave. Nothing to see here.
And look?Trump supporters love this kind of thing. They are out there, on college campuses, waiting for an excuse to claim their free speech rights were violated.
He shouldn't be wearing that short skirt if he didn't want it.
But . . . she's *Canadian*? Quebecies, even though they speak French, are still white.
The worst, she's appropriating another culture.
Slusar's behavior is a macro-aggression, and would have made her feel unsafe if someone had confronted her in the same way. Given her outspokenness, it appears she is proud of her double standard.
I didn't know the case against PC was the Trump camp's exclusive domain. Or is it that somehow not a valid criticism if it comes from that quarter? As seen in the video at no point was mere disagreement with Trump's candidacy or views in play, just SJW/Snowflakes self-righteousness yet you feel impelled to validate the outrage at some level.
I keep seeing the word "unsafe" in articles of this sort. In each of these instances the feeling of being "unsafe" is an irrational fear. I'm not sure if in this case it is an example of Trumpaphobia or WASPaphobia but either way it is irrational. Perhaps what people really mean when they say that something makes them feel "unsafe" is that they are feeling "pissed off" but they use "unsafe" to indicate victimhood.
It's a get out of jail free card, like in South Park waaaay back when hunting was outlawed but you could shoot an animal if it was "coming right for us". Say anything makes you feel unsafe, and the administration HAS to placate you.
Yes political correctness is basically pandering to mental illness. Psychiatry has a category for "adjustment disorder", which people who can't cope with some stressful event the way normal people can.
Slusar had every right to call out Linder for supporting a hateful, fascistic charlatan.
As soon I read that sentence, I knew it had to be Robby, even before I glanced up at the byline. If libertarianism is accomplishing nothing else, it's at least making hateful fascism sound refreshing,
Her friends would feel unsafe being in the same room with the hat. They all need to do the world a favor and perish from it.
The kid who grabbed the hat and said "Stop it" is a giant bleeding vagina with a saggy diaper that leaks.
Robby - Fascistic? Me thinks not.
Check your definitions please.
Fascism is a little phrase the left throws around with actually understanding the definition.
As "Associate Editor" I would have higher expectations.
Reason Magazine, your credibility over the last few months has been slipping significantly.
This is not based on opinions - this is based on factual errors.
You think a university would support me if I tore down a Bernie sticker, reasoning that it was offensive to people who were subject to the Sandinista regime? Or a Jill Stein sticker, reasoning that it was offensive to the millions who will die of malnutrition without GMOs like Golden Rice? Or a Hillary sticker, saying it's offensive to those who have died due to the instability she's caused in the Middle East?
So, do I side with a guy wearing a Trump hat, or the totalitarian fascist who insists that he remove it, or there will be consequences? The writer says that he is on the right side, but knows that he must defend the right of hat guy to wear his hat. How generous. But if you look at the ongoing repression and assault on individual rights in America, it is not coming from tea party Trump supporters, it is coming from progressives such as Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi (possibly the stupidest person in America), and Barry Obama. Just to name a few.
Imagine how stressed out she will be, if she actually gets off her ass and votes, when she sees that trump is on the ballot.
She's from Canuckistan, so she won't be voting in any US elections. (Unless she goes to Chicago and pretends to be a dead Democrat.)

Put aside the leftist hysteria for a moment. How is Trump any more fascist or authoritarian than EVERY OTHER primary candidate in both parties, with the exception of outliers like Ron Paul and Jim Webb?
Technically, we've had a fascist system of government for the past 80 years, and the Democratic Party has relied on identity politics to win elections for the past 50 years.
I guess we have to demonstrate our goodthinkfulness to impress our cocktail party friends who despise us anyway.

How about when she stands next to a guy with a "I'm with stupid" hat and the arrow pointing at her. Is that hate speech?
waiting for an excuse to claim their free speech rights were violated.
Excuse?
Robby, this kid's right to free speech WAS violated. What the fuck is wrong with you?

This woman said she has friends who would drop a class because a hat would make them feel unsafe? Sorry but I have real concerns about the fate of the world when these "children" are in the workforce. Do they actually think they are going to live their lives in a world where they will never have to face opinions or thoughts they do not like? The education system with its obsession of being "fair" has created generations of people unable to make decisions, accept responsibility or accept failure. They feel entitled and when they make outrageous demands and get fired for them as a woman did in San Francisco for demanding a wage far greater than her position warranted, they are shocked. The hat is a hat and the words on it are just words. The only "danger" is the completely manufactured meaning of the phrase created by Democrats and the left for political reasons. The hypocrisy of the actions of Democrats is it is the same phrase Clinton used in 92 and 96 when running for President. All I would say to this "young woman" is you are in college, grow up.
