The FBI published transcripts of Omar Mateen's calls to 911 during his deadly attack on Orlando gay club Pulse, but "omitted" some references of him pledging loyalty to the Islamic State. The FBI later in the day unredacted and re-released the transcripts.

  • Donald Trump has dumped campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, which seems to be getting about as much press as the Orlando attack transcripts.
  • The Supreme Court ruled, 5-3, that courts don't necessarily have to throw out evidence of crimes that police obtain during illegal searches. There are going to be some very terrible consequences for this decision.
  • The Supreme Court also declined to hear a challenge to Connecticut's law banning some semi-automatic weapons and large capacity magazines.
  • Also, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is reportedly considering retirement.
  • Three members of the New York Police Department and a fund-raiser for Mayor Bill de Blasio were busted for corruption charges and bribery.

Donald Trump has dumped campaign manager Corey Lewandowski...

Has anyone made the "you're fired!" joke yet?

    1. Tonio   9 years ago

      You just did!

      1. Fist of Etiquette   9 years ago

        Firzizzle.

    2. Rufus The Monocled   9 years ago

      Hello.

"Also, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is reportedly considering retirement."

Come to think of it, maybe it's time for ole Rufus to retire.

      1. cavalier973   9 years ago

Wait until after the election; you want to see which Presidential nominee will be appointing your successor, don't you?

      2. Hyperion   9 years ago

There's two free spots for Hillary to stack with more far left ideologues. Obama will be one of them. Happy days are ahead, happy days.

        1. cavalier973   9 years ago

She should appoint Biden to the Supreme Court, too.

      3. Raven Nation   9 years ago

        No!

Also, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is reportedly considering retirement.

This one just might be, given how the court was divided in 3 cases:

        Citizens United v FEC
        Heller v DC
        MacDonald v Chicago

        1. John   9 years ago

Hey that is just the first two amendments in the BOR. What is the big deal. Its not like we are talking about something important like porn or trannies being able to use the wrong bathroom.

          1. Jickerson   9 years ago

Well, porn would be a first amendment issue.

    2. colorblindkid   9 years ago

    PREEEEEEEEEEEEEET

    1. Injun, as in from India   9 years ago

Preet's on a roll. He's making way too many enemies though.

I hope he doesn't have a thing for young brunette prostitutes like his predecessor Elliott "John" Spitzer.

      1. Citizen X   9 years ago

Preet's got fools to subpoena! He ain't have time for bitches!

      2. Tonio   9 years ago

Yeah, he's ambitious all right. I wonder how many people's lives he'll ruin on his way to the top?

    2. This Machine   9 years ago

I'd like to think that Preet, being roundly pee-pee schwacked for the Woodchipper Incident, saw the light and made a conversion from humorless statist-fellating douchebag to fearless corruption destroyer.

I'd like to think that, but I'm gonna side with Ken on this one and say that I'm rooting for nobody in this instance.

      1. Rufus The Monocled   9 years ago

Or he can be preparing for an epic launch on us.

Thus sparking the Great Civil Rewar and the fight for INDEPENDENCE DAY!

How long until it comes out the FBI was working him?

I think we all know the answer to that.

    2. Hyperion   9 years ago

How long will it be before we see Obama scolding the FBI and the justice dept doing something...

      1. Bobarian (Would Chip Her)   9 years ago

        About somebody's e-mail server?

        1. Hyperion   9 years ago

          Hah, you made a funny.

    3. The Brakeless MAGA Train   9 years ago

if they were, the only way to get that story out of the headlines would be to indict Hillary.

      1. Anomalous   9 years ago

They shouldn't have any difficulty with that. There's more evidence against her than any ham sandwich in history.

        1. Playa Manhattan.   9 years ago

Has Hillary tried to pin the blame on a ham sandwich yet?

          1. R C Dean   9 years ago

You kidding? With Huma handling her meals, she probably hasn't seen a ham sandwich in years. Not halal, you know.

  5. BiMonSciFiCon   9 years ago

Free to grab women on his own behalf now.

      1. John   9 years ago

        + the internet.

    2. Red Rocks Okey-Dokein   9 years ago

Maybe there's some truth to the theory that Trump was doing this as a lark, and never expected to actually be nominated but loved the media attention. I can't think of any other reason he'd dump a campaign manager that helped lead him to the presumptive nomination of one of the two biggest parties in the US.

What makes this even more of a farce is that Hillary's campaign tactics are so ham-fisted and obsolete that she's acting as if Trump paid her to throw the election herself.

Hillary is running because the threat of her being President is the only thing keeping her and her crooked son in law out of jail.

          1. Krabappel   9 years ago

I don't know how I missed this but I just read about Mezvinsky yesterday. No doubt a presidential pardon is coming for her son-in-law's father once she is elected.

          Winter for everyone else!

      3. John   9 years ago

I think he did do it as a lark and was surprised how well he did. Why he fired this guy? Who knows. Maybe his daughter pushed him out. Maybe he has decided to run a more conventional campaign.

Hillary seems to have no new ideas. She is spending millions on ad campaigns when it is clear that those don't work anymore.

        1. BigT   9 years ago

She has a vomit-inducing ad extolling her feelings 'for the children' and her work 'for the children' throughout her career.

          1. John   9 years ago

That is when she wasn't calling them "tards" or laughing about how she got a rapist off by humiliating his 12 year old victim. Someone needs to put that tape of her laughing about destroying the 12 year old rape victim into an ad.

            1. Lee G   9 years ago

At this point, the global economic forecast is so frikkin' terrible it may be better for Clinton to win. Trump isn't going to save us from the financial disaster that is looming, so if Clinton wins, she owns it along with Barry.

              1. John   9 years ago

I think Obama knows that. I also think he wants to make sure his successor gets the blame. So, the question, does he hate Hillary enough to stick her with the blame or will he let DOJ indict her at the last minute and stick Trump with the blame leaving him in charge of the Democratic party? I could see it going either way.

        2. Crusty Juggler   9 years ago

Why he fired this guy? Who knows. Maybe his daughter pushed him out. Maybe he has decided to run a more conventional campaign.

His kids convinced him to let the professional, inside DC guy he hired to run everything. It makes sense. He has to try to win.

          1. John   9 years ago

Of course, maybe the conventional DC guy isn't the way to do that. Time will tell. This guys seemed like an ass clown. So, I can't believe he is worse off without him.

            1. Crusty Juggler   9 years ago

This is only a big deal because that douchebag was known. I believe he has already been demoted twice.

The Supreme Court ruled, 5-3, that courts don't necessarily have to throw out evidence of crimes that police obtain during illegal searches.

At least 1 more year - if the Donald gets elected.

      1. Dan Bongard   9 years ago

There's no rational reason to think Trump will appoint good justices. Any conservative justice worried about his replacement is looking at a minimum of 5 years, and that's only if Hillary wins. If Trump wins, it'll be 9+ -- five years of Trump and then at least four of a Democrat after him.

        1. Bobarian (Would Chip Her)   9 years ago

it'll be 2000+ -- five years of Trump and then at least four of a Democrat after him two millennia for civilization to rebuild.

This deliciously bizarre web series has reached a conclusion. It was mostly crowd-funded after the first video became popular back in 2011. California's state religion.

Although they target widely different issues, these pieces of legislation reflect a highly authoritarian and illiberal brand of progressivism evolving into something of a state religion. On one hand, California cannot tolerate the autonomy of religious institutions if they refuse to embrace the secularist ideology that dominates the state. Even religious clubs on California State University campuses can no longer restrict their leadership to those who actually are believers.

Similarly, the emerging attack on anyone questioning climate change orthodoxy represents another kind of religion, one that gives officially sanctioned science something close to papal infallibility. Despite the fact that there remain widely divergent views on both the severity of climate change and how best to address it, one has to adhere to the accepted "science" ? or else.

Perhaps most shocking of all, this new spirit of progressive intolerance is affecting other institutions, notably academia and the media. Long incubators for free thinking, the academy, as liberal legal scholars such as Alan Dershowitz note, now routinely violates due process.

    1. Hyperion   9 years ago

The FBI published transcripts of Omar Mateen's calls to 911 during his deadly attack on Orlando gay club Pulse, but "omitted" some references of him pledging loyalty to the Islamic State. The FBI later in the day unredacted and re-released the transcripts.

I haven't seen a single news outlet actually say the obvious - which is that everyone, including any reporters, thought it was a retarded, naked attempt to skew perceptions which actually undermined their attempts by shifting attention to themselves.

when you talk about "media bias", its really only about 1/3 in the way actual stories are written about/reported. I'd say 2/3 are simply "what they choose to ignore".

Media are committed to telling the truth and nothing but the truth, just not the whole truth.

Let me throw a slightly different interpretation at you: many on the left (including, obviously, the media) truly believe that (1) most Muslims are peaceful and (2) that most Americans are always ready to embark on a "anti-Muslim backlash." It is not beyond the realms of possibility that the media went along with the redaction in order to "protect" Muslims across America from being slaughtered.

Tell them that they're full of shit. ANYBODY can do research on 'gun violence'. What the Federal Government will not do is give the CDC funding for such a study because that is not the CDC's role but of law enforcement agencies. Gun violence is not a communicable disease.

I think so; the only thing that is "Banned" is the CDC treating it as a "public health" issue which would allow guns to be regulated under an entirely new body of legislation. Its a backdoor for banning weapons.

I just got done arguing with one of the stupidest progs I've yet encountered. It's kind of a long story how the discussion led up to this, but she was talking about how she had been learning about Nepal, and how the protest ten percent of the country there only has something like 2% of the wealth while the richest 10% has 40% and how this is the most horrible injustice since ever. I pointed out that in terms of normal distribution that's actually pretty equal, but and she lost it.

She was telling me that it's only fair if any 10% of people control 10% of the wealth, and she couldn't get over this lunacy no matter how much I tried arguing with her. I tried to explain to her what the words "richest" and "poorest" meant and how math actually fucking works, but she wasn't having it. I explained that what she was proposing meant that there by definition couldn't be any "rich" or "poor" people at all and she was proposing an actual hardcore Marxist viewpoint, then she called me a "paranoid rightwinger who sees Communism everywhere", laughed, and practically skipped away thinking she won the debate.

I honestly don't even think she was even considering that what she was calling for was even distribution. She claimed that she didn't have a problem with having rich people (and called me paranoid for suggesting she was) she just thought the numbers should "line up" and "be fair", with very little thought into what any of it actually meant.

Honestly now that it's been a couple hours and I've cooled off from my initial anger over the sheer stupidity, it was kind of fascinating.

I played the game of Monopoly last week for the first time in 30 years. Like always, no one ever plays it out. Perhaps there are electronic web versions that lets it play out in less than 8 hours. It's still a good game to extent that it lets a player understand some basics about "wealth", like the risk of being house poor. And it's a good game for 24 yo. Load the dice for her and see how generous and understanding she is even with friends and family as the other players.

RE: The Supreme Court ruled, 5-3, that courts don't necessarily have to throw out evidence of crimes that police obtain during illegal searches. There are going to be some very terrible consequences for this decision.

    Not true.
    The gulags will swell.
Our socialist slavers will continue to chop away at that ancient and capitalist tool, the Constitution.
    Big Government will march on.
The Glorious People's Revolution will accelerate until we all reach the final goal of enslavement, imprisonment and oppression.
Let's all give thanks to the Soviet Supreme Court for this recent decision.
They're doing their part to advance socialist slavery in this country.
    Are you?

RE: Three members of the New York Police Department and a fund-raiser for Mayor Bill de Blasio were busted for corruption charges and bribery.

    This can't be right.
NYPD enjoys a sterling reputation for efficiency, high moral standards and honesty.
When was the last time the NYPD had a scandal?
    Can anyone even remember?
DeBlasio is as pure as the driven snow.
He did his level best to help the wonderful, benevolent and freedom loving Sandadistas back in the '80's.
Plus, he is does his level best to eliminate private schools in NYC and keep the government run public school monopoly thriving in his town.
That should be enough to tell anyone where's he is coming from.

The Supreme Court also declined to hear a challenge to Connecticut's law banning some semi-automatic weapons and large capacity magazines.

Reading the opinion in Heller back in the day, I was pretty disappointed. Its a weak-ass opinion, written by weak-ass judges, mapping out for the gun-grabbers how they can just keep on infringing the RKBA without having to worry too much about SCOTUS.

Widget here with some bumper sticker reporting from Southern California. I drive a lot here so it's a large sample.

"It's time for Hillary": 2 (these were in the early primaries)
"Trump *" :0 (such as "2016, "for President", "Making America Great Again)
    "* Trump": 2 (such a "Dump")
    "Bernie *: 1000's (mostly "2016")

    Just FYI.

It was a hybrid. Take away the gasoline powered engine and there isn't much. And yeah, the LMP1 cars are amazing. I like how they changed the riles to just tell you how much gas you can use and not how you can build your car. It makes the cars different again.
