Who Will Win the Battle of New York?
Watch Matt Welch discuss Trump vs. Cruz & Hillary vs. Bernie on tonight's Kennedy, Fox Business Network at 8 p.m. and midnight ET

For the first time in living memory, it's presidential primary season and New York and California actually matter. In TOTALLY UNRELATED NEWS, both coastal behemoths just this week up and decided to enact a $15 minimum wage, regardless of whether it makes economic sense. Bernie's bad ideas—they're not just for the dorm room anymore!

Anyhoo, this crazy-pants election now gets its #NewYorkValues on, as Ted Cruz wages political war on the Triborough Troika. After his shellacking in Wisconsin, Donald Trump needs to maintain his huge polling lead in the Empire State on April 19 if he's going to have any chance of reaching 1,237 delegates before the Republican National Convention, but focus not on his margin but on the threshold of 50 percent (a new poll out today has him at 52%). Each of the 27 New York congressional districts awards three delegates; all three will go to anyone winning a majority of the district, otherwise they'll be divvied out 2-1. The same is true of the state's 14 unbound delegates. So if Donald Trump gets exactly 50.1 percent of the vote in each and every district, he sweeps the state's 95 delegates. If he comes in at 49.9 percent? Only 61. That could mean the difference in getting to a first-ballot win, which could in turn mean the difference of winning the nomination. It's going to be a zany couple of weeks, folks.
The same is true for the Democrats. Hillary Clinton really should win New York, being a former U.S. senator from here, but Brooklyn Bernie—who, as Nick Gillespie aptly points out, is just an archetypal New York character in a thousand different ways—has won six out of seven primaries, and excites hipsters even more than that other Elizabeth Warren type, Zephyr Teachout, who shocked prognosticators by winning 34 percent of the vote two years ago in a shoestring primary challenge against incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo. "They're very worried about a Zephyr Teachout situation," an anonymous Clinton ally recently told Politico. "The left is very mobilized. In New York, it's not just about winning. They have to win 65 to 35." Forget that spread—she has to win, period, to avoid getting into the awkward situation of relying on undemocratic superdelegates to break a virtual Democratic tie.
Anyway, I'll be talking about this stuff on tonight's Kennedy (8 p.m. Fox Business Network, with a repeat at midnight) where I will be joined by Townhall editor Katie Pavlich and professional misanthrope Gavin McInnes. Also appearing on the program are Ron Paul and Jimmy Failla and Buzz Aldrin, so it should be a hoot.

Prediction: Hoops and drunkards
Prediction: Snake Plissken
My money's on Kurt Russell.
I am giving "The Rock" the benefit of an open mind for the remake.
Wouldn't it be great if both parties had brokered conventions?
What are the odds Clinton would have a heart attack in the middle of it?
Am I the only one that thinks doddering old Bill Clinton will have a fatal heart attack, and then Hillary wins easily with a huge sympathy vote? Look at Bill -- he acts older than Jimmy Freakin Cancer Carter. Hillary must be thinking, "he just needs a little push."
He is looking ancient, and doesn't sound so good, either, being a "pump head" after his heart surgery.
What are the odds Hillary gets indicted, or doesn't get indicted but various FBI agents resign in protest, before the convention?
Hillary won't be indicted because no one wants to be accused of affecting the election (ignoring the fact that withholding an indictment would be just as much a decision as making one). I don't think anyone is going to resign (unless they're already at retirement age).
I don't know. The FBI director is notorious for being a straight shooter, and the evidence of her breaking federal law seems obvious to me (though IANAL).
0:0 for both.
No one is going to indict here because no one is going to want to be accused of 'stealing the election' as happened with BushVGore. Doubly so if she loses the nomination and there's no conviction - the people responsible for the indictment will go down in history as America's greatest traitors.
No rank and file agent is going to quit his job because Clinton isn't indicted - they aren't suddenly going to go 'oh gee, this organization is too corrupt for me! No high ranking FBI officer is going to do so because they already know exactly how corrupt the organization is and they're not going to turn down cushy perks for this.
There's still some respect for the rule of law in this country, even in DC. If it was just going to be swept under the rug, there wouldn't still be 150 FBI agents on the case.
Also, while everyone is focused on the emails and the server, don't forget the book Clinton Cash. I think the FBI has been reading that book, and looking at the Clinton Foundation.
I think the FBI is very, very carefully getting their ducks in a row, and it will all blow up before the convention. Suddenly Biden and Warren ride to the rescue. You don't think Obama wouldn't enjoy that?
Prediction: Bernie gets all the votes, Hillary gets all the delegates.
I've read that maybe 30% of Bernie voters won't vote for Hillary in the general.

The British?
Not the British?

Grr, I'll still be in NY on the 19th. I'm sure I'll have to endure Bernie bros freaking out on the subway and marching for some stupid shit.
But a few days later, I'm flying to London then Edinburgh. Open to any novel suggestions! Especially if it involves alcohol. I made a note that someone here recommended the Bow Bar in Hume and Smith's city, so I've got that on my schedule.
Going out on a limb, maybe you could drink some Scotch?
Wise guy, huh?
You're going to London and then Scotland, and "need" suggestions involving alcohol? I call bullshit. You're just rubbing it in our faces.
I need to know the proper venues! Plus, I haven't really explored Scotch yet, only sampling this or that in the past.
And yes, yes I am.
Just don't call it Scotch over there.
Wear a Silver Shirt Legion uniform and a Bernie button.
My suggestion?
Find Charles Stross, kick 'im in the nadgers and tell him that he makes a few good points, he has no fucking idea what libertarianism is about
http://www.antipope.org/charli.....adets.html
And then by him a round or two in celebration of his fiction work.
I sure as hell know who loses...
All of us?
What are the chances Cruz is regretting his "New York Values" comment right about now?
Fuhgeddaboudit.
"professional misanthrope" Gavin McInnes?
I hope you guys are friends, because that is pretty insulting if you aren't.
No its not. He probably made the term up himself.
It's probably on his business card.
For a time I had "Token Misanthrope" on my card.
Matt, watched PT. Interesting set up. It hit the proper "civil" tone, everyone got their points across which made it enlightening. Most important, no one said really anything that made me yell, 'wtf?!'.
It's nice to have a libertarian perspective on such a panel and scored salient points for the tribe despite the drop off in numbers at the end. Wtf?
My take is the American dream (and allow me to add Canada) is alive and well. The demographics are too much in North America's favor and more so with the United States. The woman who mentioned not to invest all personal capital in government or big business but rather social capital (you're network of family, friends, contacts etc.) was spot on in my view.
I didn't know you were an ant-homeite!
No piggybacking!
Mature people call it branch-planting!
I heard Gavin saying something about Trump needing to "Appease the ladies" and the look on Katie Pavlich's face is like he was describing how he employs his beard during cunnilingus.
sort of a "please dont" look of fear and revulsion. Kennedy by contrast just had a frozen look of, "why do i get you on my show? Is this my career? When I was a VJ i really didn't think it would end like this"
Hey GIL,
Any idea how to watch the show live without having to go through Fox's "sign in on your service provider's" sign-in page?
I simply would like to watch this particular program, not establish a relationship with Fox/my internet provider.
Thanks.

There are individuals who will ask you questions in good faith, GIL.
The link you provided leads to a website with security threats.
huh?
really? it actually works fine for me (just tested it), and has been floating in my bookmarks since the Indys was on the air.
Maybe its blocked by your ISP or something
try this in the future (don't know if it has FBN but i've used it for other channels)

Kennedy just said, "Whats the deal with that wall-eyed freak who writes like a 12yr old girl"?
She was referring to Paul Krugman. She then goes, "but he does have a funky-eye thing right?" and everyone just goes silent.
Matt = charcoal suit, lavender shirt, purple/silver little circles tie. works. Never crazy about that tie (better on white shirt) but as a guest you're always free to be loosy-goosier
I have a weakness for pink shirt w/ blue suit, lavender-shirt with grey suits as the go-to 'fun-alternative' to the blue or white standard. It takes about 1/3 the 'business-y' part away from the suit and makes it more relaxed. (but still business). Going further you can do what Kmele did often which is wear a gingham shirt in either color (purple, pink, blue, red) which is nice too, but always with solid(ish) tie.
I am reminded that Kennedy seems happiest when she's just being totally crazy for the camera all by her lonesome.
I really want to be the fly on the wall at the FBN cocktail party where she tries to make small talk with lou dobbs.
I'm sure Napolitano has her cornered trying to put on the smooth moves at those things.
Uh, the Judge is gay.
Wait, really?
What he means is "napolitano" is the Italian word for gay man.
OMG she's having a complete meltdown
The stage manager was reaching for the tranq gun.
I approved
What did Welch just say? Gentlemen, start your hashtags.
Something about how Actresses go "Full-Ugtard" and win awards
Now they're all calling each other very good looking. Gavin is angry because he knows he looks like Rasputin.
Well, McInnes mansplaining should trump anything inappropriate Welch might have said.
He's like the token horrible guy, and Matt is the "nice boy". They must tell Gavin to 'amp up the sexist remarks' just for the added color.
Gavin makes salient points about Rastafarian fashion
Bieber should ruin dreads for everyone.
It will be his greatest contribution to mankind.
Vanilla Ice already did that.
Did the panel just get the boot? I forgot to even look at Welch's tie.
Okay, I backed the videotape up and looked at it. I don't care for the knot.
Honestly i find the "crazy old man" thing pretty depressing. Ron Paul AND Buzz Aldrin on the same show feels like you're mocking them.
He's wearing a shirt with a Total Recall quote on it. You're the one being mocked.
I will say this about McInnes. It's good to have someone at the table so offensive that people don't know where to even start to be outraged.
Ah! Indians
Having watched that show, i don't actually recall ever hearing anyone actually address the question of, "how will NY primary" change anything. then again, that's not why i watched the show anyway, but still.
Bait and switch.
Masturbation euphemisms huh?
Lets roll with it dud.e WOw.
