Video Shows Fort Worth Police Officer Pepper-Spraying Passing Bikers
Six-year veteran of the force sprayed several motorcyclists and documented it in his report.

A Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) officer, identified only as W. Figueroa, has been moved from patrol to administrative duties after video surfaced of him pepper-spraying passing motorcyclists from the side of a highway.
Figueroa, a six-year veteran on the force, reportedly documented his use of spray in a departmental report this past Sunday afternoon after pulling over a red pickup truck for "blocking traffic to rocord [sic] motorcycles driving recklessly." The 40-second video, uploaded first to Facebook and then Youtube, shows Figueroa emerging from his cruiser holding a small black object in his hand.
During a slow-motion replay edit created by

Chase Stone, the video's uploader and one of the passing bikers, reddish spray can be clearly seen coming out of the object in Figueroa's hand. The FWPD told reporters that they will be reviewing both Figueroa's body cam and dash cam as they conduct an investigation into the incident.
It should be noted that Stone's Youtube account contains video of he and others performing bike stunts on highways and other public roads. NBCDFW.com reported that "several motorists called 911 Sunday afternoon to report motorcyclists blocking traffic, racing and weaving through cars along Highway 287." A number of people have come to Figueroa's defense on social media, pointing out that every state has a "Move Over Law," requiring motorists to move one lane to the left of a police officer engaged in a traffic stop, or at least significantly reduce their speed.
Whatever reason Figueroa had for deploying the noxious gas, discourteous bikers don't deserve a face full of Mace, and spraying a blinding agent into the eyes of people speeding down a crowded highway on two wheels can't be possibly be considered in the interests of public safety.

You can too!

He wasn't afraid of the motorcyclists, he was following training that requires him to pepper spray any motorcycles that approach him.
The bikers were operating deadly vehicles. Good spray. smooches

I know I shouldn't be surprised at the lengths to which some people will go to suck cop dick, but this is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Every lane of traffic was filled with motorcycles and cars, so where exactly were these bikers supposed to go? Furthermore, they were moving with the general flow of traffic, so it's not like you can just suddenly slow down at highway speeds with cars right behind you.
And I also suspect that nailing someone in the face with mace is not standard operating procedure in this situation.

Well, these bikers seem like assholes then, but it's so dangerous to spray someone with pepper spray or mace while they're riding a motor cycle that it's not like this excuses anything. If one of them lost control of the bike, the cop could have killed people.
The only solution was to outasshole them and he did a damn fine job.
"If one of them lost control of the bike, the cop could have killed people."
And then charged the biker with felony murder!

Clearly the people potentially downstream of those bikers were an immediate proximate threat to themselves because a pepper sprayed biker could possibly hit them. Therefore the cop was negligent in his duty to execute those pedestrians with his service weapon, for their potential safety, and that of others. He probe bly also should have shot a dog in the area. Just because.
Not to mention the cars. The white SUV at the back of the motorcycles could've had their windows rolled down, everyone had slowed substantially and were moving away from the copper when he started spraying the OC in the air. The white SUV could easily have lost control of their vehicle due to the OC floating in the air, and run over the copper - and it would've been his fault. He deserves to have his head smushed in a 100 ton press - just once - as punishment.
And I also suspect that nailing someone in the face with mace is not standard operating procedure in this situation.
I'll bet there's nothing in the procedure manual that says you're not supposed to be spraying motorcyclists in the face with pepper spray either, though, so how was this poor guy supposed to know? Not his fault he wasn't trained properly.

Zay you're on a road and your zivil rights get violated...
" Every lane of traffic was filled with motorcycles and cars, so where exactly were these bikers supposed to go? "
It should also be noted that if asswipe Figueroa wouldn't stand on the side of his car with his door open, it might be quite a bit safer for the 100's of vehicles driving by. Did I mention asswipe?
It's also against the law to fling your door open into traffic. So, either the bikers were far enough away for him to open the door or he opened said door unsafely into traffic. He can't have it both ways.
Not only that but they were in the left side of the right lane - there was *plenty* of clearance for the officer to be able to move safely between his car and the stopped truck.
And, of course, the proper response to guys violating the stupid *move over* laws is to stop and ticket them, not mace them as they drive by.
I enjoyed a cop spraying mace at my brother who was running away. He sprayed mace at my brother and ran into his own cloud of mace and was blinded. Good times.
Someone watched Sons of Anarchy the previous night.

...has been moved from patrol to administrative duties after video surfaced of him pepper-spraying passing motorcyclists from the side of a highway.
Where he spends his days indiscriminately pepper-spraying the copier repairman.
Ain't nothing in the procedures manual that says he's not supposed to be pepper-spraying the copier repairman, either.
Makin' copies! Getting' pepper sprayed by bored suspended cop!
And.... That's a felony. Several counts, actually.
seriously. I'm pretty sure most of those helmets were totally non-regulation.
And I'm sure they're busting their asses doing so.
Don't worry. The cops will bust the witnesses' asses if their story isn't the one the cops want to hear.
"I see that your son was hanging out with suspicious individuals, Mr. Smith. I think we'll get a warrant to search your house. See you tomorrow at 0300."
In Fort Worth a cop indiscriminately sprays mace at bikers passing by, while a few miles down the road the cops murdered a bunch of bikers, and then shamelessly arrested plenty more.
Conclusion: Texas police are not fond of bikers.
That's not true at all, I saw an episode of True Detective and Matthew McConaughey's character was super-friends with some bikers. True, i didn't see how it ended, but he knew their handshakes and slang and everything.
It ended with one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history.
"It ended with one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history."
And then the show went to shit once the director of that scene went away.
Come back Cary Fukunaga!
That doesn't sound pleasant.

Poor Ginger.
"Spraying a blinding agent into the eyes of people speeding down a crowded highway on two wheels can't be possibly be considered in the interests of public safety."
Thank you.
If any of them had crashed and died, the officer should have been indicted for murder.
If he wants to claim he did what he did in self-defense, then, you know, he should be entitled to a trial, a jury, a lawyer, the right to remain silent, etc.--just like anyone else.
I know cops can get really frustrated. YouTube is full of videos of people doing 3 mile wheelies in front of the cops, and the cops are helpless to pull over a bunch of bikers who know what they're doing. You'll find a dozen videos of bikers avoiding road blocks, etc.
There are still some things the cops can't do anything about. And I love that.

...er...no...um...I mean...that's horrible...a disgrace...a complete disrespect for the law.
I agree.
Ghost_Rider_(motorcyclist)
Watched the video, thanks for posting. If the biker's intent was to "flout" the law, why are they all wearing helmets?
I don't even know why cops would *bother*. For example, if any of the shit those guys were doing in that video went wrong . . .that biker would be smeared over the road. Which is the risk he took (and has the *right* to take).
Worst that is like to happen to any bystanders is an insurance claim for property damage.
Let 'em do their wheelies and if they fall - well, that's what happens dumbass.
Why would they bother?
Respect my authori-tay!
Sometimes this site lulls me into the fallacious belief that most people have at least a bit of good sense and than I go and do something like clicking on the video link and reading a few YouTube comments. Man, we're in serious trouble.
"Six-year veteran of the force"
I have a nit to pick. I don't like this use of the word "veteran". At six years, He's still relatively low seniority. I don't have a better word off the top of my head, but I like to save "veteran" for ex-military who saw combat duty or maybe a real old-timer in some profession.
Six-year thug of the force?
Six year dog killer's apprentice?
Six year old piglet?
Veteran isn't even used in the military for someone who's done a combat tour. Its also anyone who's served.
Though its normally not applied until *after you leave the service* and not while still in.
Comparable usage would have him just be a cop and then, after he leaves the force, he's an 'X year veteran of the D/FTPD'.
^^THIS. I hate it when cops use the term "civilian" to describe someone who is not a cop. Hey Officer Friendly, you're a civilian too! Holding down the parking lot next to the neighborhood bar doesn't exactly count as standing a post and you get to go home every night.
As ex military, it makes me laugh when cops who have not served in the military consider non-cops to be 'civilians'. Let those pussies go slug it out in a hot war zone for a year or so with people who can shoot back and are actually trained to kill you. Then they can run their mouths.
A-type personality in a police uniform reacting poorly to his authority being challenged... I'd bet anything he is a veteran in the ex-military sense. People coming back from war and being handed a badge and a gun is half the reason we have a law enforcement crisis, the other half being drug law enforcement
"of he"
Should be "of him".

I feel like the only authority here to speak on this, since I actually know one of the bikers involved (via a local internet forum for bikers).
There's an adversarial relationship here in the DFW area between the cops and bikers. At High Five Cycles (which has sadly recently closed down), every Thursday night was Bike Night. We'd have food trucks, and all kinds of burnout contests, custom bikes and paint jobs on display, all kinds of awesome shit.
But the best game of all was waiting for the police cruisers to come by (they'd always ride by at like 20 mph, watching us). You'd get out in front of them, burn out, and then take the hell off. They know they can't catch you, so they don't even try. It just makes them stew. Of course, I never participated in any of these highly illegal activities myself.
So anyway, they look for ways to fuck with bikers all the time, when they can. Hell, they even busted some of us riding with BACA once, and if you know that organization, it's fucked up to harass them.
Oh, also...Trump.
"They know they can't catch you, so they don't even try. It just makes them stew."
That's exactly what it's about. You get some really A-type personalities as cops, and there's this thing they can't do anything about.
Here's Exhibit 2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c464MFoLaWY
Yeah, pull him over. How?
He gone.
I get that part. But i would think it would be fairly easy for them to first clock your plates before turning the lights on.
They're smaller and harder to read, esp. at night, than car plates.
Also easier to fake.
I never had a single summons show up in the mail, for what it's worth.
May your streak remain unbroken
Most of those bikes are missing plates.
Yeah, and the cops should pull them over for that.
Hey!
Oh, I get it.
Screw dat. Vehicles shouldn't have plates to start with.
Point was, they can't pull them over. That's the whole problem in the video.
The cop keeps trying to pull them over. They won't pull over.
Like Bartleby, they prefer not to.
"Ho-ho, good shit."
/my reaction
Jesus christ.
There was a biker bar near a little town by me.
The police department would set up a drunk driving roadblock every biker night.
Three months and it went out of business.
It isn't easy to get me to sympathize with biker types who go around in packs and indulge in reckless driving.
Still, I can't see how I can sympathize with sending pepper spray in their direction on a busy highway.
What is this I can't even...
(I'm sure Mr. Gojira and his buddies don't do the reckless driving stuff.)
Never in my long life have I ever engaged in reckless driving, in my race car or on my motorcycles.
*walks away whistling*
Model citizen. A real peach.
The assclownery of some of these street stuntz yo! bikers is fucking ricockulous. First order douchebaggery. That said, the police are supposed to be the adults in the room. When they act worse than the douchebags, we as a society are diminished.
As to the bikers, get this fucking bullshit off the mother fucking streets. What kind of cumstain finds it necessary to do this in traffic on public roads?
Brave cumstains.
/wink
When you're willfully endangering innocents on public roads you don't get complimented with "brave." That activity makes one a selfish fucking syphllated dickhole. Take it to a track if you wanna be called brave.
Jesus christ, I hope you at least have good posture from having that stick shoved so far up your ass.
Tell me that when you hurt an innocent on the road. Take it to a track.
You're arguing with Tulpa's night sock.
What?
Except you're not actually endangering anyone - except you and the other bikers.
There's a reason bikers call car drivers 'cagers'.
In a collision between a Smart and a bike - the Smart will win.
Fine and a non-sequitor. That the bike is somewhat unlikely to damge the occupants of a car is irrelevent. Most drivers are grossly incompetent at highway speeds. Incompetent drivers can fuck up royal when a bike goes down in front of them, beside them, whatever. Just as one example. I have seen drivers hit a guardrail because of a coyote. I have seen drivers lose control because of wind. Do we really want to add more stress in that environment? It is an unnecessary risk that one has no right to impose on others.
I have a racecar sitting in my garage, and many of the skills to use it. I don't do it on the street because I have no right to risk others. Again, fundamental to libertarian thought is respect of other's rights.
And another fundamental libertarian thought is proper assessment of dangers.
You sound like the guys who freak out about drones near aircraft. Drones which are the size of (but less massive than) large birds. Which, outside of running into an actual flock, pretty much never endanger aircraft. They certainly have caused some to land prematurely as a precautionary measure after a strike - which causes financial damage, but that's not what's being screamed about.
Enjoying freedom sometimes means tolerating arseholes who are inconveniencing you or even frightening you as a side effect of their actions.
Yes, you're an asshole if a pack of you are weaving in and out of traffic at high speed. You're also an asshole if you sit in the left lane at exactly the speed limit. And that ain't exactly safe either.
TL;DR - I think you're overstating the *danger* these people are because you're pissed off at their asshole behavior.
Oh, come on. If that blatant disrespect for authority doesn't warm at least a single cockle of your heart, you ain't human.
Fuck authority, it's about the blatent disregard for everyone else on the roads. That this cop is worse doesn't let the douchenozzles off the hook.
It's for the chilrenz.
I'm guessing there's some history here, Lorenzo?
Yes, I have seen some of these clowns on the freeway. I have no problem with bikers. I have no problem with stunts. I have a problem with individuals making unsafe choices for others. Your rights end where someone else's begins. That is one of the fundamental tenets of liberty. It would be wise to remember that.
The cop in this story is an asshole. So are the freeway stunt bikers.
"Hell, we wouldn't give you a nickel for a pilot biker who hasn't done some crazy rat-racing like that."- Tom Wolfe

I suspect that a lot of what people perceive as reckless driving by motorcyclists isn't really reckless at all.
My motorcycle insurance is less than $300 a year. Part of the reason for that is because it's rarely the motorcyclist's fault when there's an accident. Once you're over 30 and if you don't drink and ride, statistically, your chances of crashing are pretty low--and the chances of it being your fault are significantly lower than that.
Even for stunt riders . . . I used to ride up to Laguna Seca whenever Moto GP was in town. It was amazing to see thousands and thousands of sport bikes taking over Pacific Coast Highway for a hundred or more miles in each direction. It was a much safer ride that way. It's the fuckin' four-wheelers that are so dangerous.
I saw a lot of people doing tricks on bikes. Never saw anything reckless. Come to think of it, I never saw a crash either.
Shifting lanes a lot, leaving cars behind, etc. can actually be the safest way to ride.
This guy ^^ gets it.
"I saw a lot of people doing tricks on bikes. Never saw anything reckless."
As a former rider in the Sunday Morning Run (Mill Valley to Olema), I'm calling BS.
There were plenty who were just serious about cutting their time, but there were plenty others who wheelied from lane to lane. Oh, and front wheel stands are just cool, right?!?!
Once I saw 'extreme sports', it was easy to see they were nothing other than show-offs; take away the audience and they had nothing to do. Go pull down your pants in a public place if you lack attention.
Did you know Peter Coyote?
Maybe. I knew 4 or 5 riders by name and I'm guessing most of the riders didn't know any more, either.
Was he 'the guy on the red Ninja who was hard to beat through 13-turns'? I was the guy on the RZV 500 who did well in the switchbacks.
Wow Sevo, yet another thing we have in common. I used to do that ride a bit. Not since 1992 though.
I haven't had my own bike since 1993, but I have been out occasionally with my brother-in-law, who has a few BMWs and Ducatis in Santa Barbara, where there are some pretty awesome day rides possible.
I'm talking about what I saw bikers doing ripping up and down Highway 1 to and from Monterrey. There were plenty of guys doing stunts on the highway. None of the ones I saw were reckless--or endangered other drivers.
Certainly, cars driven by average people are a bigger danger to bikes than "reckless" bike riders are to cars.
That being said, I am sure there are wanna be stunt riders who are reckless. They're typically under, what, 25?
When I was 19, I'm sure I was more dangerous to other people in my '64 Fury (383, convertible!) than I've ever been on a bike.
I think insurance is so cheap for motorcycles mainly because they incur the vast majority of the damage in accidents. They rarely mess up other vehicles and are much more likely to die.
It's not so much about recklessness as it is physics
Even the insurance for a medical injury to yourself is substantially cheaper on a bike. And the chances of being hurt in an accident and injured badly are much worse on a bike.
It's just not likely to be your fault on a bike--legally.
I think the most common cause of motorcycle accidents is people in cars looking straight through us and making left turns in front of us like we're not even there.
The second most common cause of motorcycle accidents is people, again, looking straight through us and rear ending us when we're at stop lights waiting for the light to change.
They're looking for cars, not motorcycles, and they just don't see what they aren't looking for.
My point of view when engaging in any form of transportation is that other travelers are all a delay threat. And she be kept far away, by any means necessary. That philosophy has served me well.

Technically, you didn't say that the online business opportunity is "linked" to the $76,000.
It could just be two separate things mentioned in consecutive sentences.
No, wait, it sounds like you *are* promising money.
Well, then, sounds legit.

So he saw motorcyclists that were operating their vehicles within the confines of the law (as the video shows) and he just decided to spray them down with a toxic substance that completely impairs a person's ability to operate their vehicle safely. No different that chucking cinder blocks off a highway overpass. He should be charged with attempted murder. A stupid, evil piece of shit.

I have encountered these tricksters on the motorcycles both during the day and at night time, when it's harder to see them swarming up on both sides of your car because they have their headlamps turned off. They are a menace. I don't condone the officer's behavior. He could have caused a major accident that resulted in someone getting killed or seriously injured. Next time, just go after several of them and ticket them for failure to move to the left lane.
People, today, think they don't have to observe the laws. Now, where did they ever get that idea?
