The price of pot prohibition

This week the Justice Department said it will investigate the shooting of Zachary Hammond, an unarmed 19-year-old who was killed by a South Carolina cop last month in the course of a drug sting involving 10 grams of marijuana. In my latest Forbes column, I discuss the Hammond case along with two other recent examples of the outrages committed in the name of pot prohibitiion:
On Wednesday night the Justice Department announced that it will look into the death of 19-year-old Zachary Hammond, who was shot and killed by a police officer outside a Hardee's in Seneca, South Carolina, on July 26. At the time, Hammond was on a first date with 23-year-old Tori Morton, who according to police had been lured to the restaurant's parking lot by an undercover officer posing as a marijuana buyer. After the shooting she was charged with possessing 10 grams of pot—about a third of an ounce.
Police say the undercover officer pulled up alongside Hammond's car while Lt. Mark Tiller, who was in uniform, approached the vehicle to assist with the expected arrest. Tiller says Hammond, who was unarmed, saw him, panicked, and tried to run him down, forcing him to fire two shots through the driver's side window in self-defense. But an autopsy commissioned by Hammond's family found that one bullet entered his left shoulder from behind while the other entered his chest from the side—wounds that the family's lawyer, Eric Bland, says are inconsistent with Tiller's story, which he calls "ridiculous" and "offensive." The Seneca Police Department has dashcam video of the encounter, which might help clarify the facts, but has not released it yet.
Even if we assume that Tiller is telling the truth and that he reasonably believed lethal force was necessary to avoid death or serious injury, this entire situation was created by the cops, for the sake of enforcing an arbitrary ban that has been partly or completely rejected by nearly half of the states.

They have not released it because it likely does clarify the facts. Which are unlikely to favor the police.
Look, do you want people protected at all cost from the dangers of choosing to use recreational drugs or not?
So ,drone strikes in a walmart parking lot next?
Hey, if they didn't murder that kid, he might be smoking a joint RIGHT NOW!

Sounds like "Weekend at Warty's", amirite?
Yep, but could have added Tentacles.
Tentacles promote jizz. Everything in life should come with tentacles. I think.
Good Morning, A C!
"Come with tentacles", eh? Did you catch some meteors last night?
Good morning, dear. One day meteors will be clubs and cafes.
As opposed to meat markets.
At first blush bologna ponies need a rock to prance upon. I'm not meat market averse. I think space has enough room for bacon. Hell, hit a meat market meteor on your way to a fuck club meteor, afterward we can all zip over to the trippy hookah meteor. Go meteors!
That remids me of a dish I had one time in Williamsburg.Pasta topped with small steamed squid that were tossed in olivle oil, butter and garlic.Very good.
According to KTRK, "deputies say she consented to the search," which presumably explains why she had to be handcuffed and forcibly restrained. The station noted that Corley was charged with resisting arrest as well as marijuana possession (both misdemeanors), which seems inconsistent with the claim that she willingly cooperated in her own violation.
That's why this "flex your rights" advise is foolish unless you're recording the encounter. If you do not give consent to a search, they're going to do the search anyway and then lie on the report. If you can't prove otherwise, then the cops' word will always be taken as the truth. And even if you can prove otherwise, the department will never admit to one of their officers doing something wrong.
And nothing else happens.
Question for the jury: "Why would someone carrying drugs consent to a search?"
What jury? They pile on the false charges so thick that the only realistic option is to cop a plea.
The most barbaric jobs program ever created: the fucking Drug War.
I despise the majority of humanity for its callousness and blistering indifference to the wanton suffering and tragic removal of life over activities as normal as enjoying pie.
But because your goddamn fuckbeast brain is chock full of motherfucking right angles and predictability matrices and the cloistered cabals you run with sneer and scoff at anything that runs outside established lines somehow your sickfuck lack of comprehension can justify and even praise the use of macabre techniques that savage, pillage, and destroy your brothers and sisters.
Humans are reprobate horrors. One can only hope our future will eventually deserve us.
Peace out to the lofty minds who bring attention to this gut-wrenching filth and peace out to the open-minded providers of lush and beautiful hope in the bottoms under these scribes.
I hope one day our ancestors look back at the War on Drugs the way we currently look back at legalized slavery.
More line the Inquisition.

Look at that pic! He's obviously developing the genetic sequence for weaponized weed! That scoundrel had to be stopped because children.
Second-hand pot is just like second-hand tobacco. Every kid in a kilometer radius might as well be lighting up too!
#BlackLivesMatter...oh, wait.....
Black Lives Matter as an org would commence mattering to me when they drop the racist bullshit that is the brick and mortar of their fractured foundation. Of course black lives matter but since when did the fucking term 'lives' come with a goddamn adjective?
I can't believe the outrage some people have shown against the Hardee's customer quoted as saying how thankful they all were in Occonee County that the police were staying on top of the drugs and doing their best to get rid of them. The guy obviously was either totally being sarcastic or he was tripping balls and thought it was an hilarious comment at the time or - my own theory - the guy was there in the Hardee's parking lot selling the meth he just got done cooking up in his kitchen and wanted to make gotdamn sure the cops knew he was 1000% on their side. (Which of course he actually would be - factoring in the cost of the possibility of getting killed over a few grams of pot just drove the price of drugs up. Ka-ching!)

That is a fucked up way to start a joke....oh.
"Tiller says Hammond, who was unarmed, saw him, panicked, and tried to run him down, forcing him to fire two shots through the driver's side window in self-defense. He was in no danger. He is a fucking lying murderer. The car had already gone past him. Girlfriend is lucky officer ItchyFinger was slow enough on the draw that the car was already past him before he could get shots off or he would have drilled her too.
In about half of these cases I am somewhat reluctant to condemn the cops. This isn't one of those cases. It is pretty clear what happened here.
So far as I know, none of the states have fully or partly rejected the notion of RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!
