I remember being 9 yrs old and dad giving me ten bucks to go to the grocery store 3 blocks away to buy a carton of smokes for both him (Chesterfield non-filter) and my mother (Virginia Slims 120's)- "buy a candy bar for your brother, and the rest of the change is yours."
1973 was a different planet, I think...
