Vid: Open the Borders - to Goods and People!
As part of Reason's new "Open" issue, Reason TV's Nick Gillespie and Meredith Bragg tout the value of opening the nation's markets and borders to good and services from all over the world.
Today's Democrats vilify free trade, with even Hillary Clinton hemming and hawing over the Trans-Pacific Partnership. She would do well to embrace the same arguments her husband, President Bill Clinton, made while passing NAFTA over the objections of the Donkey Party.
Today's Republicans vilify immigration, with virtually all the pols running for the GOP's presidential nomination calling for an end to immigration "until the border" with Mexico is "secured." They would do well to remember what Ronald Reagan said about even illegal immigrants:
"Illegal immigrants in considerable numbers have become productive members of our society and are a basic part of our work force. Those who have established equities in the United States should be recognized and accorded legal status."
