Reed College Student Who Told Me to Write the N-Word Was Arrested for Harassing a Girls' Rugby Team
Another strange wrinkle

Remember Jeremiah True, the Reed College student who demanded that I use the n-word before he would consent to an interview? Well, he was arrested for harassment and sexual abuse.
BuzzFeed reports that True interrupted a high school girls' rugby team practice last Thursday and the police had to intervene:
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Friday that True was in jail and awaiting his arraignment later that afternoon. His booking information, in which his name is spelled incorrectly, is online.
According to an employee at Rugby Oregon, a youth rugby organization based in Portland, True was arrested for disrupting a high school girls' rugby practice. He was restrained by a coach who called the police, the employee said.
The sheriff's office lists sex abuse, harassment, and disorderly conduct as the charges.
True did not respond to requests for comment. His cell phone is now set to inform callers that he is "not accepting calls at this time."
I last spoke to True on March 24, when he consented to an interview despite my unwillingness to meet his odd demand—which he claimed had been an attempt to gauge my commitment to the real story. According to True, the college is punishing him for merely expressing non-PC views on a variety of topics, including sexual assault. But his antics outside of the classroom—which include disrupting campus events and walking up to random students and calling them "nigger"—suggest to me that this was probably not just a simple case of censorship.
What that means for the validity of this equally strange sexual harassment charge is anyone's guess.

Perhaps Mr. True should start investigating an exciting new concept called "Exercising Self-Control"
What an idiot.
Yeah, he seems like a real tool. His 15 minutes just expired, I think.
Girls rugby is the SHIT! Even better than boys. Daughter #2 played, as does her husband. Still remember when she came flying across the field during one of her HS games and just LEVELED the opposing player coming down the field. They were both running at full tilt, and daughter LEAPS and goes full prone in the air - WHAM!!!! They end up out of bounds.
Fucking. Awesome!
What was they subject, again??
Your daughter's husband plays girl's rugby?
Shorter RBS: "PHRASING!!"
touche 🙂
What a lucky guy. I tried out for girls' wrestling for the same reason.
That's called a flying cross body block. And it's awesome.
Assuming the accusation is correct, I'd say he's probably lucky the coach got to him before the players did. I've known a couple of women rugby players. I would not want to mess with them, in any scenario.
I can think of a scenario.
^This.
PICS OF DAUGHTER
Be afraid, Almanian, be very afraid.
Pics are OK, just never give him GPS coordinates.
Better double check the Exif tags
He really needs to be posting his videos on youtube...
"He really needs to be posting his videos on youtube..."
Pretty sure he's already commenting there.
Has anyone considered the possibility of actual insanity?
Yes, and not that cheap knock off, $5 insanity either. He's got the real kind.
Strange, but True.
Paging Swiss Servator.
The moment I saw the phrase "sexual abuse" and "girls' rugby team" in the same sentence, insanity was precisely what I thought.
This is unacceptable behavior in civil society. I mean, girls rugby? They have no business.
Having candy helps.
How's that?
Sounds like every NYC teen to me.
Nigga pleeze
Cracka Please
Seems like it turned from "making a statement" to plain old attention whoring. And it looks like he finally got the kind of attention he was looking for.
This guy seems to need help, and I hope he gets it.
Regardless, the prevalence of various disorders is higher than a lot of people realize, and taking any particular incident or person that behaves in an unusual way as being somehow emblematic of something or telling about our society entails a certain amount of risk.
The woman at the center of the controversial Rolling Stone article is probably a good example. The people at Rolling Stone seemed to be convinced that something traumatic happened to her, suggesting that her behavior and/or demeanor was somehow consistent with someone who was traumatized. Making up a story like she did certainly isn't something people normally do.
Her being exploited by feminists and Rolling Stone made feminists and Rolling Stone look incredibly foolish, but there's more to learn from such an experience than just that feminists and Rolling Stone are foolish. Trying to score political points from people who are exhibiting aberrant behavior is fraught with risks. One of them is making yourself look foolish. Another risk is opening yourself up to criticism of exploiting someone's mental illness.
Otherwise, why would you write about someone that's exhibiting bizarre behavior like that?
Genuine naivete?
Oh, I think being stomped by a women's rugby team would do him a world of good.
Or awaken something in him that will never die.
An abiding passion for BDSM delivered by muscular women in jerseys?
And spontaneous erections when he hears the word "scrum."
Prolate spheroid causes anal prolapse, news at eleven.
What a strange person.
High praise from someone on this site. 🙂
I'm a little curious (for no good reason, probably) what "sexual abuse" means. Did he run out on the field and start goosing people, or what? Or was he being verbally abusive in a sexual way? I'd guess the latter, but that's not what I usually think of when I hear "sexual abuse".
I'm betting it was verbal. We know that the guy is an instigator and a little unhinged. So I say we wait for details.
Apparently, he went up to one of the high school girls and caressed her arm and hair. He was run off, but then came back 30 minutes later, approached a different high school girl, and touched her breast while making a sexual comment.
He made comments in court that he was under the influence of LSD at the time.
LSD? Have we just learned Agile Cyborg's true identity?
No, True stated in court that others thought he was on acid. True has never taken drugs, alcohol or tobacco in his life.
This seems to be a case of psychological breakdown subsequent to his forced exclusion from school.
I dunno. I think before everyone passes judgement, we need details. Remember that this guy is an instigator and his behavior might be well known in the area that he was arrested in. If that's the case, a lot of people, including the cops, might have it in for him and just be waiting for a chance to jump.
So I think we need to find out just what constitutes 'harassment' and 'sexual' abuse before we pass judgement. Also, remember that the cops are very well known for arresting people on very exaggerated charges before things get to court and the charges get diminished or dropped.
I'm just saying, be cautious of what you believe and don't jump to conclusions too quickly.
Anyone remember what happened to Adam Kokesh?
I'll wait till there is some actual information before forming an opinion.
You are every modern journalist's worst nightmare.
or rather, 'not their target demographic'.
a person could probably create an entirely new (and popular) webzine based on the model of "following the antics of every pre-schizophrenic-break college student" in America.
"Cute? (or) Crazy!" - sort of like 'Hot or Not'.... but for people's *minds*
Am I the only one who heard the theme song from the Benny Hill Show while reading this story?
+1 Yakety Sax
Starting to think that this guy actually has a problem and hoping he has family that can help him get help.
interesting that he went after a high school team.
where i went to college, the women's rugby team would have torn him to kibble.
For those asking for details:
"According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court, True walked up to and caressed the hair and arm of a female who was among a team of students practicing at Normandale Park, at the intersection of Northeast 57th Avenue and Halsey Street.
True walked off, talking to himself, but returned to the park about 30 minutes later and approached a 17-year-old female and touched her breast with his open hand, and make a remark about her chest, the affidavit said.
Several witnesses restrained True until police arrived.
Portland police Officer E. Lamonte Johnson said True's pupils were constricted and he was responding irrationally to questions and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
True was taken into custody and accused of third-degree sex abuse and harassment.
Once booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center Thursday evening at 6:49 p.m., he told court officials, "Someone said I was on acid,'' according to court records.
"Someone said" I was on acid? Actually I guess that makes sense. If he actually remembered it then must not have been on acid.
Kids these days.
It was reported that Jeremiah True was incoherent, had no sense of time and appeared to be on drugs.
Given that he has steadfastly abjured drugs - including tobacco and alcohol - all his life, this seems to be oddly aberrant behavior and suggests a mental breakdown - which would not be surprising given that he was removed from his classes, his college and his student community and forced into isolation pending the constantly-delayed decision from the Reed College Honor Court.
