The Best Campaign Rap Video You'll See All Day, feat. Wyclef Jean
Mike Dunafon is running for governor of Colorado as an independent candidate. He's the mayor of Glendale and married to the owner of a strip club called Shotgun Willie's.
He's polling at less than 1 percent according to the latest USA TODAY/Suffolk poll, but this video, featuring Wyclef Jean, is pretty great, especially as campaign vids go.
"Hemp is just a plant" run the lyrics over a great groove. "Individual rights is where it's at/Collective thinking is a cancer/And with liberty our guide/We can find the answer…" Sounds better than it reads!. Dunafon's main site is pretty fun too.
The Colorado race is looking like a tight one, with incumbent Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper neck and neck with Republican challenger Bob Beauprez. In the most recent poll listed at RealClearPolitics (over a week old), Hickenlooper is at 43 percent and Beauprez at 40 percent, with Libertarian Matthew Hess and Green Party candidate Harry Hempy each just under 2 percent and fully 10 percent undecided.
This race is something of a bellwether, given Colorado's swing-state status and the match-up between Hickenlooper and Beauprez, who are fairly archetypal representations of each major party.
And, according to a poll not listed at RealClearPolitics, the Libertarian Hess (issue page here) is on track to pull 5 percent of the vote. That survey, done by Gravis Marketing, has Beauprez over Hickenlooper by 48 percent to 43 percent.

If Wyclef wanted to make this point he shouldn't have had Law & Order: Criminal Intent star Vincent D'Onofrio doing the rap in his video.
Can you explain this?
Hickenlooper going down would be a big victory for gun rights. Let's not forget his disgraceful performance after the Aurora shooting. If assholes like him don't get kicked out of office for screwing with gun rights, we won't have gun rights much longer.
The interesting question is, which side is the L candidate drawing more votes away from? After the guy in the VA governs race took more votes from the Dem than the Republican, that question is worth asking.
Didn't Colorado recall two politicians responsible for those laws, but yet the laws still stand?
The Dems still control both houses of the state legislature.
WTF happened to Colorado? They used to be what I think of as "leave me alone" conservatives, and now the state is filled with knee-jerk Democrats. Was it California refugees, or what?
So then the answer to my question is not only yes, but hell yes.
Hickenlooper deserves defeat on 2nd A. grounds alone.
This is extremely silly in the best possible way.
"I'm not black like Barry White no I am white like Frank Black is,"
I saw this on TEEVEE this weekend. I was just happy to see Cleffy still gettin' work.
Power to the people, baby.
I kind of lost track of Wyclef after he ran for president in Haiti. I take it he didn't win that election.
I ususally vote based on who has the weirdest name - this is toughy:
Beauprez - zeds are winners.
Hickenlooper - is that nordic joke name?
Dunafon - that's looking a little scifi like.
Hess - almost normal, but it brings to mind nazis.
Wow - that is a tough call.
I spread my vote around (when I vote - pretty much just local and some state now) to only "minor" parties.
I always feel best when voting for the Greens and Commies for states school boards (several of the MI public Univs have elected Boards of Regents...it's kinda retarded veneer of "democracy" in running these asylums).
Which is a polite way of saying they are both the same and they both suck?
Aye, yup.
Polite?
Didn't this kook and the rest of the Fugees stump hard for Obama in '08? If so, I don't think we need to dwell too much on this.
Sorry he's not hooked up with the CO LP . He's a much more effective candidate than they have .
