Jacob Sullum on Gun Control, Mental Health, and the I.V. Massacre
Last night on The Independents, Reason Senior Editor Jacob Sullum discussed many of the irrational responses to Elliot Rodger's rampage in Isla Vista, subject of his great column from this morning. Watch:
Here's an earlier clip on the subject from the same show, also featuring Kayleigh McEnany and Thaddeus McCotter:

We never had commenting problems before the Isla Vista shooting .... No, wait, come to think of it, we did.
We never had commenting problems before lady commenters started showing up.
What? ... Wait ... lady commenters are showing up?
*waves*
He said commenters, in plural.
Really? I haven't had any problems posting today.
Sullum needs to do a 10-part documentary series of his own.
List of Topics:
1. Mental Health
2. Gun Control
3. Voodoo Pharmacology
4. Civil Liberties
In the spirit of Penn & Teller: Bullshit, Sullum can fill the other 6 hours with naked super models and fluff topics such as cheerleading and cryptozoology.
Actually, Sullum has been interviewed on Bullshit! a few times. One time was about Joe Arpaio.
What I'd like to know is, why is it that these mass killings only get extended media attention when the perpetrator is a white guy?
When that kid wasted those people in the mall in Columbia, Maryland a few months ago, it was big news for about 24 hours, then immediately flushed down the media black hole as soon as it came out that the perp Darion Marcus Aguilar looked like Obama junior.
And Reason is as guilty of this just as much as the standard-issue JournoList left-wing media, by the way.

This won't last much longer, no matter how white the kid was. In another week, you'll never hear about it again.
The modern leftist movement in the USA is old, tired, worn down, desperate, grasping for straws, and in the beginning of a massive death throe. They are now just past the peak of their power.
Apparently you read that link about cynicism leading to dementia and decided you'd just think positive to thwart it.
I see no evidence of such death throes of progressive statists. And my facebook feed it loaded with "ZOMG! BAN TEH EVUL GUNNZ!11!!!!!!1!!" derp right now.
Stop reading derpbook. That in itself will give you a more positive outlook.
To elaborate on that, derpbook posters are not even necessarily progressives, even if they think that they are. Derpbook is a magnet for the lowest level retards in society. So you have to figure that in to what wisdom you think you may be gleaning from it's pages.
Ugh, can this incident please fade away? I have a shit ton of feminist friends who are blaming the white privileged male for this whole shit storm. Next we shall have the gun grabbers making their cases.
Give it time. The grief-mongers don't work weekends, so this is really only day 2. By Friday there will a new subject.

Well it would seem that your choice of friends is you first problem.
Privilege: the race card for everyone
You rarely hear news reports about the people alive today because they had a gun and were able to protect themselves.
I wonder if you asked the average liberal on the street if guns ever save lives, what would their answer be?
