Eric Holder Says Marijuana 'Can Be Harmful'
Made the comment before the Senate Judiciary Committee
Asked about President Barack Obama's recent comment that smoking pot was "a bad habit, a vice," Attorney General Eric Holder on Wednesday told the Senate Judiciary Committee he believes "the use of any drug is potentially harmful" and that one of the Department of Justice's main enforcement priorities is preventing the distribution of marijuana to minors.
Sen. Pete Sessions asked Holder if he agreed with Obama's statement in an interview that marijuana is "a bad habit and a vice, not very different" from smoking cigarettes. Holder said that "as I understood what the president said in his totality, was he thought the use of marijuana by young people was not a good thing."
