Brickbat: I Don't Want to Cause No Fuss
Rochester, New York, police arrested three high school baskteball players for waiting for a school bus. The team was waiting on the sidewalk for the bus to take them to a scrimmage. An officer accused them of blocking foot traffic and ordered them to disperse. When some of them tried to explain they were just waiting for a bus that should arrive shortly he arrested them for disorderly conduct. Their coach arrived as they were being handcuffed, and when he asked they be released, cops threatened to arrest him, too.

Fuck New York.
If they had a big enough paddy wagon, the entire world would be taken downtown.
"One of the police officers actually told me, if he had a big enough caravan, he would take all of us downtown," Scott said.
My answer, waving magic hands over the steering wheel, "BY ALL MEANS! I hereby temporarily deputize this bus. OK, officer, lead the way."
I'm making $86 an hour working from home. I was shocked when my neighbour told me she was averaging $95 but I see how it works now. I feel so much freedom now that I'm my own boss. This is what I do,...WWW.JUMP85.COM
words seriously don't exist to example this.
Freedom means doing what you are told.
I don't usually play this game but I will guess white cop and black kids.
Btw, this is the logical extension of "stop and frisk", which is: I am police, you look suspicious, forfeit all rights.
Three youths -- Raliek, Wan'Tauhjs, and Daequon -- were quoted in the article, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're at least half right.
I'm going to guess that the cop envisioned himself as breaking up some pretty dangerous gang activity, then refused to be humiliated by admitting he was wrong.
I'm confused. A cop being wrong ? That's unpossible. Hence the all purpose Failure to Obey a Legal Order. If a cop gives an order, it's legal.
Three youths -- Raliek, Wan'Tauhjs, and Daequon -- were quoted in the article,
My goodness! Those are the real names used in the article.
(Are the three people in the photo above the three people quoted in the article?)
This is also Rochester, NY; not NYC.
text book example of why every cop shold be strapped with a camera
Give this man a bubblegum cigar!
Why wouldn't they want to, unless they're doing something wrong?
It looks like they made the alt-text disperse, too. 🙁
Alt-texting while black is not a crime!
"We didn't do nothing," said Raliek Redd. "We was just trying to go to our scrimmage."
"We was just waiting for our bus and he started arrested us," said Wan'Tauhjs Weathers.
"You just downtown, minding your own business, and next thing you know, anything can happen," said Daequon Carelock.
This'll sound snarky, but is a serious question: Is it possible the cop didn't understand these guys' Ebonics and thought they were dissing him?
I am pretty sure he caught the gist of it - they were waiting for a bus.
"They mumbled something that sounded like 'We be waitin' fo dah mofukin' bus aks you gotta problem wit dat!".
They were waiting for a bus while black.
Oh, stewardess, I speak jive.
Good reference, but the courtroom interpreter was better.
"We didn't do nothing," said Raliek Redd.
Clearly he's confessing to a crime here. STOP RESISTING!!
Well, obviously. He said he didn't do nothing. So if you aren't doing nothing, you are doing something. The original statement refers to illegal activities. Therefore, he was doing something and it was illegal.

"Yeah, you got rights. Sometimes, I like to stay up late at night, counting them just to make myself crazy. And you know what? THE DOUBLE-NEGATIVE ISN'T ONE OF THOSE RIGHTS."
Sheesh now we have busing while black?
A black US Attorney General should fix all of this crap. Oh wait...
Cameras on Police and a Civilian review board should resolve this.
All legal contacts should be recorded.
And, these should be available for review for a review board (not appointed by the police or a politicial) made of just like a Jury.
This board should have the power to bring up charges and fire public officials for misconduct, abuse, corruption, and criminal activity.
All individuals must recieve a copy of the footage of any encounter with police within 48 hours, if requested. If the footage is not produced within 48 hours the individual must be released (if detained), all charges resulting from the encounter must be dropped and all property seized during the encounter must be returned. Compensation must be made for any damage done to the individual or his property during the encounter.
I've always said there's no such thing as peak stupid, but now I really hope we're getting there.
Have you seen North Korea or Venezuela lately? We are nowhere near peak stupid.
Every piece of footage I've ever seen of New York sidewalks would seem to indicate that blocking the movement of fellow citizens is the primary activity.
So says the guy who named himself after a piece of shit tangled in pubic hair. Classy as school at five in the morning.
Hear, hear - them colored boys shoulda known better than stand on the sidewalk when their betters came by. They shoulda made way, stood in the street if necessary.
After all, its not like they have the same right to use the sidewalk as everyone else, right?
The members of the team aren't a part of that Public due to their own use of said Public Property? Are they supposed to stand in the street, and interfere with that traffic?
Go fuck yourself. I seriously hope you stop to die your shoe on a public sidewalk some day and a cop beats you to death for loitering. I further hope the cop then travels to your home and rapes to death your wife and kids.
Have you ever been to Rochester, NY? I have. It has a black part that makes Gary look like Beverly Hills. I'm ABSOLUTELY SURE the crime here is that more than two black males were standing together in public and that's "scary". Well, fuck you if you're scared. Too fucking bad.
A dozen people can't actually block a sidewalk without chains or other equipment. More than a dozen people gather at random points in Boston to meet tour busses or duck boats or to wait for the Walk signal or what have you, and nobody bats an eyelash. They don't bat an eyelash because walking among / between / around a bunch of old white people isn't considered "scary" so it's OK. But because somebody might have had to walk through a group of black men, and "it's not reasonable to expect people to do that", this sidewalk was considered "blocked".
Seriously. Get cancer and die in the most horrible way imaginable. Get Alzheimer's and linger in a home for decades before you die in a pool of your own spit and shit. Please, I would be delighted.
Just because you're pants-shitting terrified of black men doesn't mean they don't have a right to wait for a bus.
Officer, am I free to gambol about the sidewalk?
When a public servant refers to "the public" they mean "everyone except you."
I think it's Mary Stack. Do not engage.
Stop beating around the bush, Fluffy; tell us how you really feel.
Tell us how you really feel, Fluffy. Stop dithering.
How does one "die" a shoe?
Hey Rufus. On the radio last night, I caught a snippet of Q and heard that a slew of new daycare regulations have been promulgated by the technocrats in Ottawa. I was unable to listen to the whole program; are the new regs as onerous as I fear (mainly due to the glee in presenter Jian Ghomeshi's voice when mentioning them)?
And when they call themselves "public servants", they really mean "your masters".
Regardless of the underlying identity, its content aline says: "Do not engage. Back away slowly."
I'm not going to sugarcoat this; Fluffy has some fairly firm opinions on this subject.
Mary, you are a lying sack of shit (but at least you seem to have been on your meds during your run as Bitter Klingon). If you only read the 1st two words, how would you know it was about you, so as to elicit a response?
Cool story bro.
If anyone, this would be Merkin. Not entirely sure though.
Wait!!! Where's the link to an anonymity website?
