A Nearly Infinite Number of Ways to Follow Reason (and Support Us, Too)!
Did you know that Reason magazine, Reason.com, and Reason Foundation (the nonprofit that publishes this website) publishes 10 different email newsletters covering topics such as breaking news, what's new at Reason.com, and policy areas ranging from privatization to air-traffic control to education?
Reason TV's YouTube channel has about 87,000 subscribers, who can get automatic notifications when we make new material live online. Go here to sign up for that (takes about a minute).
Reason's Facebook page has about 116,000 likes but we'd love to have twice that many. We post several times a day to Facebook and the comment threads there are a great way to learn just what we're doing right and, more commonly, just how goddamned stupid we really are. Check it out - and while you're there, give us a like, won't you?
We've got two Twitter feeds, one for the site as a whole and one for our nonstop rat-a-tat newsfeed Reason 24/7, which gives you the latest breaking news that is of particular interest to libertarians and other beautiful, clean-smelling smart people.
And rumor has it that we push a monthly magazine too, in both dead-tree and digital versions for every once and future reading device, for less than $15 a year. Check it out here.
As noted above, all of Reason's platforms are published by the nonprofit Reason Foundation. Donations to the foundation are tax-deductible and they help to let us keep bringing you the latest news and analysis from a "Free Minds and Free Markets" perspective you're not going to find anywhere else. Go here to read about how we use your (tax-deductible!) donations. And yes, we do take Bitcoin!
And note that we're going to be running our annual webathon from December 3 through December 12, during which we'll be soliciting donations and giving away fun and interesting swag. Stay tuned for more info on giving levels.
Editor's Note: As of February 29, 2024, commenting privileges on reason.com posts are limited to Reason Plus subscribers. Past commenters are grandfathered in for a temporary period. I love the smell of webathon in the morning.
I will donate snark.
Do you donate ice to Eskimos, too?
we'll be soliciting donations and giving away fun and interesting swag
Does swag include a limited edition set of bobbleheads featuring the likeness of the Reason staff? How about a sexy Men of Reason calender?
Hell, I'll settle for the website eliminating the character limit imposed on comments or at least increasing it from 1500 to 2000.
I'll donate to get rid of the taboola-whatever ads
See, that's how a true Ferengi libertarian does business: impose some intolerable condition on your customer and then have them bargain for you to take it away.
If having to limit posts to 1500 characters or break them into multiple posts is your idea of "intolerable", then you have First World problems.
bring back blink tags
marquee tags too !
How about bringing back the ability to imbed images?
We had it briefly, but it was taken from us.
Hell, I'll settle for the website eliminating the character limit imposed on comments
You want HERCULES TRIATHLON SAVINIEN to come back?
You want long, long thread that are nothing but copied-and-pasted earlier comments?
What? Herc was amusing and he certainly added more to the threads than Palin's Buttplug.
I seem to recall Herc as posting long walls of text with lots of stuff [in square brackets]. Conspiracy theory shit, no less.
He liked cats.
Herc's walls o' text weren't nearly as bad as when Mary went off her meds and started copy-pasting entire comment threads into multiple individual posts.
How much for a GODDAMNED EDIT BUTTON?!
How about bitcoins?
Nah, I'm probably holding on to those.
Go ask Chris Christie for some money.
Don't forget Marco Rubio and Bobby Jindal. NEVER FORGET:
Fortunately for libertarian-minded voters, Palin and Cruz are hardly the only fishes in the sea. As the recent report on young voters from the College Republican National Committee pointed out, the GOP is flush with next-generation leaders, among them Chris Christie, Rubio, and Bobby Jindal.
You should auction site features (maybe for a limited time)

Bid y, pick the link color
And definitely let us put a message in the bidder banner.

and one for our nonstop rat-a-tat newsfeed Reason 24/7,
There are people who like 24/7?
"24/7"? Look to top right of this page. It hasn't been updated since Wednesday! What else could 24/7 mean?
24 minutes an hour, 7 days a month?
By non-stop, he means nothing happened since Wednesday.
How much do we have to donate for you to bring back Lucy?
Dude, DTAL
Topless Colorado barber charged with cosmetology without a licence
warning: "do not want" picture
Thank god we have government to grant cosmetology licenses. Without it, someone could get a bad haircut, and then they'd be marred forever.
That's John bait right here.
Look at all the cranks with no life posting here. 🙁
It's barely dinner time here, Ted. You should post from a more luxurious weekend timezone.
In a few hours I'll be in bed. You'll be one of the cranks still posting here.
Life? Don't talk to me about life...
So, how bout that Iron Bowl?
I presume everybody is rooting for Michigan State and Duke next week?
Well, I'll be rooting for Duke, but I believe I'm the only one.
Also, no one roots for MSU. No one. On Wisconsin (to the Outback Bowl!)
UCLA maybe playing USC but UC Irvine Anteater football is still undefeated!

"Because I go to an all-women's college, a lot of people are like, 'If you don't identify as a woman, how did you get in?'" said sophomore Skylar Crownover, 19, who is president of Mouthing Off! and prefers to be mentioned as a singular they, but also answers to he. "I just tell them the application asks you to mark your sex and I did. It didn't ask me for my gender."
The real world is going to suck when they graduates.
Mel Goodwin, youth program director at the gay and lesbian community center in Las Vegas, said getting the hang of alternative pronouns can be tricky in conversation.
Almost as tricky as getting the hang of Klingon pronouns.
Fuck me people are bizarre.
I really do wonder if people like this chick do it for attention, whatever attention they might gain, good or bad.
No shit. When you have weird self-absorbed nitwits who are trying to reinvent their sex/gender and get all pissy when nobody knows what the fuck to call them I imagine having a conversation with them must be torturous.
Finnish doesn't have separate words for "he" or "she"; the word h?n covers both in the singular.
Or, people at the community center could just all use "it", even for the people who aren't transgedered/bigendered/whatever other buzzword is being used these days.
Gender studies: making people dumber since the 60s, now declares war on grammar.

A FOOTBALLER'S wife has been labelled "wildly provocative" after posting a picture of her washboard abs four days after having a baby. Her critics say she is placing unfair pressure on new mothers to lose weight immediately after birth.
It's weird that some people see "OMG how can I look like that!" and I just see "wow what an annoying narcissist".
Hey Maria Kang, what's your excuse?!
Actor Paul Walker dies in car crash
"The Fast and the Furious" movie star Paul Walker, 40, has reportedly died in a car accident Saturday afternoon in southern California, reports TMZ.
The accident occurred in Santa Clarita ? outside of Los Angeles ? when Walker's Porsche apparently lost control and crashed into a tree, TMZ reported. The car burst into flames and exploded, TMZ reported.
A source close to the actor confirmed to Variety that he died in the crash as well.
Too fast, too furious.

God I hated that movie.
CGI isn't driving.
It took several viewings of Ronin and To Live and Die in LA just to cleanse my brain.
oooooo... Ronin. Good movie.
There is a god...
Stay classy Jezebel.
Staying classy is just part of the patriarchy.
Remember this the next time someone on Jezebel complains about internet "death threats"
Or when some fuckwit prog goes on a tirade about the degradation of civility in public discourse.
Replace "Scott walker" with "any politician"and she would be on to something
Too fast, too furious.
...too soon.

I'd guess since this is his own shop's car, that "out of control" means that something went wrong with the modifications to his Porsche, resulting in a stuck throttle (I'm assuming the Carrera GT drive-by-wire)
Actually, it's more like 7 Fast 7 Furious. I think that's what they were up to.
Of course, the original Fast and the Furious is better.
A report from beyond. as apparently the source died in the crash too.

So, has anything happened since Wednesday? 24/7 is my only source of news.
31 vehicle pileup in Saskatchewan.
Should have been more specific. Has anything happened in a real country since Wednesday?
Due to heavy fog in the area, police said other vehicles were unable to avoid the collisions
Emphasis added. Fine 'em all.

2) Reason staffers goofed off.
3) Some Reason staffers now want money!
Ohio man seizes multiple homes, attempts to claim them under obscure Ohio law
A family in Springdale returned from an out-of-town visit to a dying relative to find someone else had moved into their home of 21 years. Their outrage has now turned into a court battle, pitting them against a man who says he has the legal documents to prove the house is his.
WLWT News 5's Karin Johnson began to investigate and uncovered a dozen cases, all linked to the same man.
Robert Carr went into the home on Springdale Lake Drive, changed the locks and emptied the house. The family said when they confronted Carr, he showed them a document he filed with the Hamilton County Court.
It's called a "quiet title" and lays claim to the property because Carr said the family abandoned the house and gave up all rights.
Family members said they are too afraid to be identified.
"What he's looking for is full title and ownership of the home," the family's attorney, Alison Warner, said.
Carr expects to pay nothing to take the home.
"He's in their home. They don't know when he's there. He can be there now," Warner said.
Johnson discovered 11 houses where Carr has filed the same paperwork. The homes are in Springdale, Forest Park, Fairfield and Hamilton. Seven of the cases were filed on the same day.
There are strange squatter laws left over from the first 'progressive' movements in the early 20th-century. I can only hope the dregs of the current one will get removed before more damage is done.
I'm surprised the guy is still breathing.
If it were me, they'd never find Carr again...
Exactly. "Oh look, you're a stranger in my home with unknown intent...."
Could hibiscus become the next big thing in holistic nutrition?
Holistic nutrition or not, Hibiscus tea is delicious and I'd like it if it were easier to get.
Sometimes man you jsut have to roll with it.
