Philadelphia Officers Charged With Robbing Drug Dealers
Competitive edge
Two Philadelphia police officers have been arrested and charged in trafficking drugs and robbing alleged drug dealers while in uniform.
Jonathan Garcia and Sydemy Joanis reportedly were honored in 2010 as the 17th district Officers of the Month for a drug arrest.
Garcia was arrested last year. Joanis was arrested today.
According to a Grand Jury indictment unsealed today, Garcia and Joanis were on duty and in full uniform when they stopped and searched people they suspected of drug trafficking for the purpose of stealing their drugs.
