Just as easily as big events can (kinda) boost one national policy push (gun control) they can derail others. Any immigration reform was going to come out of the Capitol Hill sausage factory tasting like a turd, anyway.

It should effect, it since the bill covers the Asylum and Refugee Provisions which is how the family stayed in the USA. The Gang of Eight wanted a comprehensive bill so they got one, and now they must face the problem that their comprehensive bill is connected to the program which allowed the bombers into the US.
