Matt Welch Talks Rand Paul and Melissa Harris-Perry on MSNBC

On Friday, April 12, I appeared on MSNBC's All In with host Chris Hayes, Atlantic columnist Ta-Nehesi Coates and commentator Melissa Harris-Perry to talk about the controversial appearance by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) at Howard University:  

The following morning I appeared on Harris-Perry's show, her first since drawing nationwide criticism for saying that the nation needs to "break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities." Quite a coup that you were on Melissa Joan Hart's Big Controversitunity Show, but your points were generally ignored on all topics but incarceration rates of juveniles. Would it have been that difficult to join in the mindless identity politics and statism?

Wow, its tough to listen to Chris Hayes. I have yet to watch his show and I definately won't now. He sounds like girls I went to college with.

Well, I never really gave that much thought to Richard's story. I mean, sure, it has some satisfactory bits there toward the end, but I don't know that it merits all that much contemplation.

Now, back in the day, we were getting checks, not those artsy-fartsy "cheques" that your generation thinks are so swell. Back then, temp-to-perm jobs would land you, oh...say, about $5117, give or take a few nickles. And, we done our grafting in 17 hour weeks for 5-months on the weaks-ago!

To be honest, I was surprised as hell to hear Hayes talking about his kid during one of my brief drive-bys.

Matt Watch: give me a link to this "social contract" that I allegedly signed that allows the government to steal money from me to run government indoctrination camps (aka public schools) and police to arrest parents who don't send their kids to said camps, or quit talking about it, because that social contract DOESN'T EXIST.
