Brickbat: Don't Tell Anyone

The Maricopa County, Arizona, sheriff's office agreed to pay $3.25 million to the family of Deborah Braillard to settle a wrongful death suit. Braillard was a diabetic who was arrested on minor drug charges in 2005 and died after three days in a county jail. The suit alleged that she was denied medical care even after other inmates warned jailers she needed help. The county agreed to settle the case after a judge said jurors could be informed that key evidence in the case had been destroyed.

IOW they killed him, presumably out of negligence, then covered it up.
Why isn't there a massive, screaming trial?
Forget it, PT. It's 'Zonatown.
Silly PT, laws are for the little people.
Like the Coke machine in the hall, the criminal court was out of order that day. THE WHOLE TRIAL WAS OUT OF ORDER.
It sounds like this settlement might wipe out all the dough Joe was claiming to save the taxpayers by feeding the inmates only bologna sandwiches and whatnot. (Whatnot not to include insulin.)
People (well, a person) wonders why dumpster and cops in general are so reviled.
Exhibit fucking A. motherfuckers!!!
Dumpsters perform a valuable function in society. Without the systematic separation of refuse in an urban environment disease, parasites, and vermin may spread easily. I see no reason to revile the humble dumpster.
I will leave my comment at that.
Every time I think about moving to Arizona for the climate, I remember it's full of the stupid, evil and morally corrupt assholes who keep voting this vile shitass back into office.
To be fair, the whole country is filled with vile shitasses.
True, but simple benign neglect would get this one wiped clean.
There are people (and I use the term loosely) who look at everything Nazi Joe has done, giggle, and vote for him. Chilling.
Well, yeah. Wouldn't want to be soft on crime. Besides, those damn dirty Mexican apes are stealing our JOBZ!
Fact is it is very difficult for the government to provide medical services in jail, every incarcerated person wants to see the doctor/nurse, and much of the population which is also truly ill. Combine over crowding, mix of violent and non-violent criminals (and innocents), along with those who cry wolf about being sick and those that are really sick you end up with a system where it is near impossible for even the well intended to provide quality health care to the incarcerated. You also see the tax payer sued, successfully. Thank you Uncle Sam for finding ever more novel ways to piss away our money - let's create a system where it is our constitutional obligation to provide health care to those we lock up, then let's lock up so many people that we can't possibly fulfill the obligation.
The system is broken, which is why we should stop with all the victimless crime bullshit and shrink the jail population to something that can be managed.
