Cops Have Constitutional Rights Too, Judge Rules, But Anaheim Has to Release Documents Related to Fatal Police Shooting
Cop who shot Manuel Diaz was cleared last month for an earlier fatal shooting
As noted on Reason 24/7, the family of Manuel Diaz, who was shot by cops when he gave chase last summer, wanted a judge to order Anaheim release documents related to the incident as well as to the officer. They are suing the city and its police department for $50 million. The judge ruled mostly in the family's favor, keeping documents related to the officer and access to him from the family "to preserve his constitutional rights." The officer, Nick Bennallack, was cleared by the DA just last month in another fatal shooting a year ago. Bennallack was back on duty two weeks after shooting Diaz and the DA's office is still investigating. The shooting of Diaz and another man the next day led to community protests that turned violent largely thanks to police.
Reason TV covered the protests and attended a special city council session in Anaheim in August:

I bet the unusual severity of his punishment has its origins in being carried out in orders that come from all the way to the top of the command chain. Evidence is showing Obama is a psycho.
to preserve his constitutional rights
Hey, could the rest of us get some of those things also? Or is it not for us serfs?

I'm not going to click on that link, because I already ate and am drinking a beer now, and I want to preserve meal and brew.
All I have to do is read the link text, and that is enough for me.

Anaheim is politically unstable. On the hilly west side of Anaheim there are $1M homes occupied by whites and asians. On the flat east side there are bungalows, apartments, motels, and trailer parks occupied by mexicans. The east side is winning the demographics, with 52% of the population. Many of the west side residents are in deep with mortgages. The property value of a home in southern ca is proportional the quality of the public schools and inversely proportional the crime rate. It is only lightly related to the size and quality of the home itself. The anaheim residents who are supporting the police are not really pro-police. Everyone in ca knows the cops are bungling overpaid prima donnas. They are looking at the value of their home. Their life savings will go down the drain if anaheim gets a reputation for being unsafe place to raise kids.
Does this mean massive immigration from the Third World might have downsides?
Only to NIMBYs.
Is your map upsidedown? East Anaheim is South Yorbalindaca. West Anaheim has no hills.

You crazed gun nut! Don't you know that you can kill someone with that big assault machine gun that fires 100s of rounds in a second and is made only for killin the childins! Teabagger!
$3370. What's in the 2013 Raytheon catalog?
This?
Everywhere around here, from what I have been told, rifles like AR-15s have doubled in price, at least, and that is if you can find one, which you can't.
Guess I have to wait to buy scary black gun. Should have pounced all of those times I have been thinking about it in the past couple years.
I worked on the Tomahawk missile. Well kinda-sorta in the same way Al Gore invented the internet. I briefly worked for the US Navy in 1985. I was assigned the task of writing computer programs to analyze the data retrieved through telemetry from the test firing of Tomahawk missiles. The Navy gave me airplane tickets and hotel vouchers to stay in Dahlgren, VA so I could work on this. I went to an ordinary looking office building everyday for 2 weeks. But it had an elevator that dropped down to a huge underground vault filled with Sperry-Univac computers, UYK-7s and UYK-43s. I was by myself most of time. The mother load was right there, the navigation and IFF algorithms for the Tomahawk were spitting out of the printers. Every now and then an engineer would come down and pick up a printout. In my lifetime. I had no security clearance.
Both "tactical" *and* "optimized"?! Well gollllleee! Those buzzwords are worth at least 1000 bucks a piece.
Actually, I'm waiting for the optimized strategic rifle. Tactical thingies are for the cannon fodder.
Both "tactical" *and* "optimized"?!
You forgot 'assault', 'military style', 'black', 'automatic', and other scary words that make liberals lose control of their bladders and mouths simultaneously. I would have said brains also, but they obviously lack one of those.
And anyway, if sight of scary gun makes liberals wet their little pink underoos, then they are worth every cent, no matter if they are just a normal semi-automatic rilfe, which has been around for decades.
LaRue makes nice accurized rifles. More money than something for just plinking but well worth it if it's your thing. They also throw in a bunch of extras with their orders. My soft case came with a jar of rub, hat, bottle opener and a few others than I'm forgetting at the moment.
In other scary black rifle news, John Noveske died last week in a car crash.
Both "tactical" *and* "optimized"?!
They're creating synergy.
You want the optimized *logistics* rifle for that "ultimate war planner" cred.

Well, no. Hollande's assumption is that life in France is astoundingly good ? especially for wealthy white male citizens
That statement right there tells you all you need to know, no need to read any further.
So what does little missy prissy pants think will happen when all of these 'successful evil white males' who are funding one of her little welfare utopias, decide to just say fuck it and walk away? What then? Who will fund her worthless job and protect her from the barbarian hordes?
In France? Storming The Bastille? Raping and pillaging hordes? Ridiculous. No one ever walks away from Utopia willingly. That French actor who is now a Russian citizen? That's just silly propaganda. Why would anyone willingly walk away from such egalitarian luxury where all needs (particularly medical) are met with such stunning success? It couldn't be just Franco snob factor keeping them there, could it?

In the end, fools like this go extinct. It's just the way of nature.
No matter how miserable things are right now, rest assured, todays liberals(progressives) are going the way of the dodo. No collective of people this insane can survive for long.
I'm not all that optimistic that they won't take the rest of us with them.
At the end of that video, the cop is pointing his shotgun directly at the small group, and a guy has to shield what I assume was his wife and two children. That cop is a hero.
I'm sure he's been promoted by now.
The Black Panthers had the right idea in the '60s. They had ARMED patrols monitor police on the street, not this pussy-assed video monitoring by Copwatch. We should revive the armed patrols to not only watch cops but even conduct citizens' arrest against cops caught engaging in illegal acts, and even use deadly force if they resist. It's time for police to fear law-abodong citizens, not the other way around.
Yeah, but instead of cops, we should start with congress.
