Mother of Four Who Got 12 Years for $31 in Pot Freed After Serving Two
Last week Patricia Spottedcrow, an Oklahoma woman who received a 12-year prison sentence in 2010 for two penny-ante marijuana sales that yielded $31, was released from prison and reunited with her four children. The cruel, twisted logic of the war on drugs dictated that Spottedcrow, who was charged with possession of a dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, be punished extra severely for supposedly endangering her children, even if it meant hurting those children by separating them from their mother. The sentence was all the more appalling because a police informant initiated the "crimes" with which Spottedcrow was charged and because her mother and brother, who were charged in connection with the same transactions, received a suspended sentence and probation, respectively.
After the Tulsa World ran a profile of Spottedcrow last year, the case received wide attention (including a post here by Mike Riggs). Last January a new judge shortened her sentence by four years, and in April the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board recommended her early release, which Gov. Mary Fallin approved after requiring Spottedcrow to serve three months in a work-release program.

Please tell me the original prosecutors or their successors are fighting with all their state-funded might to get this drug user back in prison.
If there's any justice in the world, the state will see to it that this lunatic never sees her children again.
At the very least they need to make sure than virtually no employer will hire her.
That's what we pay these people for.
I know a (twenty-something) Marine (friend of a friend so we chat at her parties), who is is all about the War on Drugs, because, "my mom was a drug dealer and I hated it."
He has not explained how, a) life would be better if his mom was put in prison for her activities, or, b) his opinion jibes with the fact that drugs are already illegal and all the negative associations he has from his mom's activities are related to prohibition, not drugs.
My husband is more friendly toward the Marine than I am because said Marine brought him a couple of cases of New Glarus from his last trip home to WI.
Would his mom have dealt drugs if they were legal? How many people buy alcohol from random people on the street?
But according to some friends of mine, drugs have the unique ability to enslave users to addiction. And drug addicts are not capable of making rational decisions, or acting morally. Drug dealers prey upon the addicts, by selling them drugs. I learned that over Thanksgiving.
I started to make a snark about the people you know...based on this one and the two women you mentioned in an earlier thread...then it hit me.
I know those same people.
Has Child Protection initiated proceedings to take the children yet?
You mean they haven't already?
Hmmm. I wonder if she's related to Elizabeth Warren?
Well, look at her! The resemblance is amazing!
She does have those high cheekbones that Warren's Aunt told her all the indians have.
Indian names sometimes have me scratching my head. I have never seen a spotted crow.
Exactly!
Sounds like a pretty solid deal to me dude.

Also, fried chicken.
I have no idea how I accidentally replied to pedobot....maybe it is the four vodkas.
Hey! I'm drinking a vodka, too. You're good company, Suthen. Cheers!
*slurping sucking sound from a straw*
Cheers to you too EDG....I am off to make another.
Me too - prost!
When Spottedcrow was booked, after her sentence was handed down, marijuana was found in the jacket she was wearing. She pleaded guilty to that additional charge and was sentenced to two years running concurrent with the previous sentence.
She went to court where she was likely to be convicted-- with marijuana in her pocket!!
She was also dumb enough to sell three "dime bags" to a "narc".
Four kids under ten with no father, while living in grandma's house.
(Grandma got a "suspended" sentence, so she could raise the kids.)

Is there a point to your rambling Mr. Hawking?
That is your sign for Santorum 2016. It is foretold.
