Liberty for All SuperPAC Vows to Create a "Free NC" to Topple Warmongering, Anti-Civil Liberties Republicans
They unfortunately avoid the word "libertarian" for being "loaded." Still, the principals behind what everyone else would call the libertarian-leaning "Liberty for All" SuperPAC, gave a very refreshing interview to Jonathan Karl of ABC News.
From Yahoo! News' print account of the interview, in which Karl stresses the youth of John Ramsey (22) and Preston Bates (23), who run and largely fund the PAC, which has existed for seven months and raised $3 million:
"We're purging the Republican Party of the war-mongering, anti-civil liberties, socially intolerant neo-conservatives," says Ramsey. "We see these people as just as dangerous as the socialists that make up the Democratic Party."
So, what's the PAC's track record? Ramsey and Bates point to the primary election victories for three of the Republican candidates they supported: Tea Party-backed Congressional candidate Thomas Massie in Kentucky, Congressional candidate Kerry Bentivolio in Michigan, and Senate candidate Jeff Flake in Arizona.
They say they are building in contrast to the DNC and RNC a "Free NC" a 50-state strategy to give Ron Paul supporters "something to believe in, something that's real, an institution that wins." They vow to aim their money to help topple a prominent U.S. Republican Senator who they won't name til after the November election, though they strongly hint it might be South Carolina's awful Lindsey Graham, up for re-election in 2014.
They refuse to say it matters much to them whether Barack Obama or Mitt Romney wins the presidential election.
See full video here. I first blogged about Ramsey and the Liberty for All PAC back in May. The story of the Ron Paul movement out of which this project arose told in my book Ron Paul's Revolution: The Man and the Movement He Inspired.

Not good enough. I'm surprised Fisty didn't call you out on this...
Amateurs.
They unfortunately avoid the word "libertarian" for being "loaded."
Are they aware that the word 'liberty' is equally loaded? 'Cause, you know, freedom and shit is for rich free-market-loving billionaires.
They don't really have any other choices. If they use "Freedom" it sounds like they're poorly re-enacting Braveheart, "Liberation" sounds like it's the People's Front of Judea (splitters!), and "Independence" will just confuse old people who will think you're talking about their adult diapers.
You're equally loaded!
You can take my autonomy, but you'll never take my dispensation!
Freedom! would be better.
Maybe libertarians should start being more aggressive in their branding, because this clearly isn't working. How about the "Anti Fascist-Plutocracy PAC/Party"?
Capitalist Party of America? (Dibs.) The Plutocrats? Anti-Communist Party?
"We're purging the Republican Party of the war-mongering, anti-civil liberties, socially intolerant neo-conservatives," says Ramsey.
THEN WHAT'S LEFT?
Rand?
Your mom?
EXACTLY!
Hitler?
Gimme a minute. Or a bit more.
This guy rates a mention here because he inherited a bunch of money. Not exactly an intellectual titan.
So? Only intellectual titans are allowed to form PACs to promote their political/philosophical beliefs?
And he's putting his money to good use.
Yep.
Not gonna lie, this sounds like a cause I might donate some money to. Of course, I'm not a corporation so obviously CU didn't allow me to spend my money on political campaigning.
"Intellectual" does not equal wise, or good.
On February 8, 2011, Flake voted for renewal of the PATRIOT Act
Jeff Flake: The "lesser of evils".
They should try to topple Graham, he's terrible. It seems like a lot of my fellow South Carolinians hate him too.
I dislike Graham.
Isn't Cornyn pretty much just W in the Senate?
These guys are pretty well-spoken. That would be great if they could help take Graham down.
They're getting involved in local races too. I just read earlier today about a donation they made to a open NH state senate race -- $7,000+ for an attack mailing that could make a big difference in getting another libertarian republican elected.
Kerry Bentivolio is running for Thaddeus McCotter's old seat. Odd character. He's a reindeer farmer, he once testified under oath that he was Santa Claus, and he appeared in a low-budget satirical film that alluded to 9/11 conspiracy theories.
Yeah the interviewer tried to nail them down on him but they defended him, basically saying congress could use a little whimsey.
Buddy Roemer feels left out and lonely...
Can we create a Neo-Larouchite super-PAC for him?
Hey, it's your money pal.
But he seems so cute and peppy...
It would be funny to see the look on Jesse "Asshat" Benton's face when/if they go after his new boss in KY.
Those kids got eaten by that ABC reporter. "Who are your targets?"
You change the subject. you say "Our targets is to elect candidates who we can support and support our ideals" Not so and so is on our short list.
When you define "warmongering" as "doesn't think it's America's fault that terrorists hate us", (which I know anyone who likes Ron Paul's foreign policy does) you're probably talking about the entire Republican party.
They hate us for our freedumb!!!!
I like Ron Paul's foreign policy because it will make the terrorists hate us even more. If they hate us for our freedoms now, let's give them something to really hate.
When you define "warmongering" as anyone who thinks the Iraq War was a good thing, thinks it was great to stay in Afghanistan for over a decade, and wants another war in Iran, then you're talking about almost all of the Republican Party.
And btw, explaining why certain people hate America doesn't mean they're justified in hating or committing terrorism, especially considering "America" is not synonymous with "the US government" whose actions Paul says are a major motivation for terrorists. Conservatives have no problem making this distinction on domestic issues (unlike liberals, who constantly confuse government with society), but for whatever reason, they're incapable of doing the same when it comes to foreign policy
I'm noticing something on the late news commercials here in PA.
The Dems were previously running ads connecting local GOP candidates to Romney/Ryan, but those are almost all gone now...one DNC ad mentions that Keith Rothfus supported Ryan's Medicare reform plan, but doesn't refer to Ryan, just calling it "a plan". Meanwhile, nearly every GOP ad is connecting local Dems to BO and Nancy Pelosi.
This can't be a good sign for the top of the Dem ticket in PA.
Kids say the darnedest things.
I know how she feels. My mail in ballot went out a while ago. I'm done with the thing.
Well now that looks like it might jsut work man!
