Democratic Party Bigwigs Avoid the Tough Question: Is Romney Ready to Handle the Presidential "Kill List"?
Gawker hounds various Democratic Party bigwigs and, while one would think they are out to slam Romney on any issue, finds that most of them want to evade the question: Can we trust Mitt Romney with the presidential kill list?
Some literally evade it, others bring it down the real key issue: abortion. Radio host Bill Press, bless him, gives what he admits is the wrong answer for a Democrat to give: no president should have a kill list. (Americans? That's the right answer.)

Fifth Amendment ? due process, double jeopardy, self-incrimination, eminent domain.
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Drone process is different. The Founders didn't know about drones. If they had, there would be a corollary to the Fifth.
I think they also saw the President as an executive, a manager, not a king with the power of life and death.
The executive executes! Plain meaning!
"Drone Process" - I am so stealing that.
Use as you see fit. I posted it as a Word of the Day (yes, it's a phrase, I know) a while back.
The Constitution is an ancient, incomprehensible document written by slaveowning white men, which also happens not to be a suicide pact and shouldn't apply while we are in a war for our very survival against the rising Muslim caliphate which seeks nothing less than the total annihilation of Western civilization.
For Christ's sake, the rag is handwritten. Handwritten!
Like, 100 years ago or something.
That's one of the few things it did right. It wasn't stealing jobs from some poor writer and harming mother gaia at the same time.
Wonder what Bartleby is doing these days. Damn copy machines tuk aww jobz.
TRY OBAMA FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY!
There I said it,
(Americans? That's the right answer.)
Why does Americans have a question mark after it? In fact why is the word Americans in there?
I am reading it as if the word is not even there...and am confused as to what the word and question mark adds to the remark.
Note: I agree it is the right answer.
I believe the "Americans?" part is in response to " wrong answer for a Democrat to give", but that's sort of a guess.
"I got your due process right here, motherfucker"
"Oh, and fuck you, that's why"

Gawker writers and aficionados naturally won't do anything to punish the TEAM that currently owns the hit list, however.
Michael: My father is no different than any powerful man, any man with power, like a president or senator.
Kay Adams: Do you know how naive you sound, Michael? Presidents and senators don't have men killed.
Michael: Oh. Who's being naive, Kay?
If Bieber is on the list, then I guess it's a necessary evil.
Even that isn't respectful of federalism. Pictures discreetly sent to Selena Gomez's father of a certain donkey party would accomplish the same thing.
Could they be delivered by drone, just to keep the spirit of the thing going?
As a general policy I hate ambush interviews, but that was full of win. Gloria Allred was priceless - (paraphrasing) "Can you trust Romney with the Kill List? All I care about is keeping abortion legal."
And Bill Press was great too.
Putting the kooky hippie on at the end to publicly drink the cool-aid was my personal favorite though, because he's representative of the nozzles that I deal with on a daily basis. If Obama had been in favor of killing all firstborn male children, that team blue minion woulda been all for it. Just like all of the team red/blue acolytes that surround me, checking which party is behind a policy before forming an opinion.
Who is going to ban abortion? Are these people complete morons? The Supreme Court has been at least five justices "conservative" for quite a few years now. Looks like abortion survived that horror, huh?
They're not. They've found out the hot buttons to get people to take their fingers to the polls to pull levers.
If protecting the freedom of police to shoot randomly selected black men in the head would get them elected, politicians would be hammering the need to preserve that critical power. See marijuana prohibition.
Yup. I know several otherwise intelligent women who vote D solely because of abortion.
"If protecting the freedom of police to shoot randomly selected black men in the head would get them elected, politicians would be hammering the need to preserve that critical power. See marijuana prohibition."
That used to be the Democrats' position. Now they concede that if a black person survives the womb it's probably a bad idea to shoot him, unless of course he's a republican, or a "white hispanic" with African ancestors.
Maybe they are queasily coming to the realization that "Me today, you tomorrow" is not just a catchy slogan.
Not likely. Read the comments. 10% or so say "right on!" to Cook while the rest either attack him or make joe-from-lol level excuses.
The comments on the article are absolutely horrifying.
You can trust me with the 'Kill List'.
Look at this face. Look in my eyes. My girlfriends' mothers love me. I have a good paying job and I'm kind to animals.

But I would be a merciless (though just) Killer for America.
Trust me, no hookers would die.
No, America, you can trust me with the list. My first consideration will always be your greatest priority, will we find this death a particularly fun one? I will ensure a great pr campaign in advance where you'll know the terrorist of the month as well as you do your wrestling superstar villains.
Plus, I could use a good four years to catch my breath.
Note that K. made no "no hooker" pledge.
... also he didn't mention God.
He hates America.
Oh yeah?! Well I'd drone hookers, in the name of God, only outside America.
WHO IS WITH ME?!
This gives me a good idea for a fake Obama ad.
Narrator: [stock video footage of Predator drones firing missiles, Navy SEALS, explosions, misc. military combat footage] "Is Mitt Romney ready to make the tough decisions? Osama Bin Laden is dead. Like which terror suspects should be drone striked today? Osama Bin Laden is dead. Would you trust Mitt Romney to decide, on his sole authority, who should be summarily executed via Hellfire missile, along with anyone who happens to be nearby? Osama Bin Laden is dead. Only President Obama has proven himself to have the wisdom to decide who deserves to be assassinated and when. Also, Osama Bin Laden is dead."
All I know is that Mitt's first words after becoming President are going to be "My Precious"
Guaranteed!
"Is Romney Ready to Handle the Presidential "Kill List"?"
No. Did anyone ask if Obama was?
There was something about a phone call at 3 am, but I don't recall anything about a secret enemies kill list soming up in '08.
*coming up in '08.
Fucking typing.
"Did anyone ask if Obama was?"
Ask Obama a question about his qualifications as a leader? You're a racist aren't you. Or worse, a Libertarian *shudder*.
This isn't gonna be an issue in the campaign. All the left wing loon sites are concentraing on Ryan's comments on abortion and contraception. Evidently both will become illegal if you vote for Romney/Ryan. Unfortunately, a lot of younger people who haven't witnessed these same old scare tactics over the last few decades buy right into this stuff. Republicans just hate women, that's all there is to it.
Kudos to Bill Press for going off message.
I think this is an ideal opportunity for us each to share his/her own personal Kill List!
